  • How can I inherit form and access controls from mother form?

    - by kasia
Hi, I'm in the middle of writing my project and I have this problem: I try to write a library and I want to use it in my application. In library I have a form with menu strip, tool bar, list view, tree view and etc. Everything in library is protected. In my application I have created the form which inherit form the library. I can change and add new functionality to list view and tree view using designer panel in VS 2008 but I don't have access to menu strip and tool bar, even though they are protected. Why is that so? I will be thankful for some advice.

  • reorder list elements - jQuery?

    - by Alex
Hello, I am experimenting with jQuery lately, and I was wondering if it's possible with js or pure jquery to reorder <li> elements. So if I have a silly list like the following: <ul> <li>Foo</li> <li>Bar</li> <li>Cheese</li> </ul> How would I move the list elements around? Like put the list element with Cheese before the list element with Foo or move Foo to after Bar. So is it possible? If so, how? Thanks!!

  • page_load another handler?

    - by joe doe
can someone please explain why this code is not working as expected: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; public partial class temp : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Write("foo<br>"); this.Load += new EventHandler(temp_Load); } void temp_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Write("bar<br>"); Response.End(); } } trying to add another handler for page Load event so that output would be: foo<br> bar<br>

  • Question about C Pointers (just learning)

    - by Mike
I am curious as to why this is an error and what the error message means. Here is some code. int *x[] = {"foo", "bar", "baz"}; int *y[] = {"foo", "bar", "baz"}; x = y; I try to compile and I get this: error: incompatible types when assigning to type ‘char [3]’ from type ‘char *’ Question #1 why is this an error? and Question #2 why are the types different? Thanks for you help.

  • PHP Shared Sessions across Domain

    - by bigstylee
Hi, I have seen a few answers to this on SOO but most of these are concerned with the use of subdomains, of which none have worked for me. The common one being that the use of session.cookie_domain, which from my understanding will only work with subdomains. I am interested in a solution that deals with deals with entirely different domains (and includes the possibility of subdomains). Unfortunately project deadlines being what they are, time is not on my side, so I turn to SOO's expertise and experience. The current project brief is to be able to log into one site which currently only stores the user_id in the session and then be able to retrieve this value while on a different domain within the same server enviroment. Session data is being stored/retrieved from a database where the session id is the primary key. I am hoping to find a "light wieght" and "easy" to implement solution. The system is utlising an in-house Model View Controller design pattern, so all requests (including different domains) are run through a single bootstrap script. Using the domain name as a variable, this determines what context to display to the user. One option that did look like to have potential is the use of a hidden image and using the alt tag to set the user id. My first impressions suggest this immediately seems "too easy" (if possible) and riddled with security flaws. Disscuss? Another option which I considered is using the IP and User Agent for authentication but again I feel this not going to be a reliable option due to shared networks and changing IP addresses. My third option (and preferred) which I considered and as yet not seen discussed is using htaccess to fool the user into thinking that they are on a different domain when infact apache is redirecting; something like www.foo.com/index.php?domain=bar.com&controller=news/categoires/1 but displays to the user as www.bar.com/news/categories/1 foo.com represents the "main site domain" which all requests are run through and bar.com is what the user thinks they are accessing. The controller request dictates the page and view being requested. Is this possible? Are there other options? Pros/Cons? Thanks in advanced!!!

  • Count number of messages per user

    - by Pr0no
Consider the following tables: users messages ----------------- ----------------------- user_id messages msg_id user_id content ----------------- ----------------------- 1 0 1 1 foo 2 0 2 1 bar 3 0 3 1 foobar 4 3 baz 5 3 bar I want to count the number of messages per user and insert the outcome into users.messages, like this: users ----------------- user_id messages ----------------- 1 3 2 0 3 2 I could use PHP to perform this operation, pseudo: foreach ($user_id in users) { $count = select count(msg_id) from messages where user_id = $user_id update users set messages = $count } But this is probably very inefficient as compared to one query executed in MySQL directly: UPDATE users SET messages = ( SELECT COUNT(msg_id) FROM messages ) But I'm sure this is not a proper query. Therefore, any help would be appreciated :-)

  • Tiling rectangles seamlessly in WPF while maintaing subpixel accuracy?

    - by Jens
I have had the problem described in the question Tiling rectangles seamlessly in WPF, but am not really happy with the answers given there. I am painting a bar chart by painting lots of rectangles right next to each other. Depending on the scale of the canvas containing them, there are small gaps visible between some of them as a result from sub-pixel rendering. I learned from the above question how to make my rectangles fit with the screen pixels, removing that effect. Unfortunately, my chart may display way more bars than there are pixels. Apart from the tiny gaps (which manifest as a periodic change in color saturation), this works well. If I snap each bar with the screen pixels, most of the bars vanish, though, so I am looking for another solution. Thanks in advance!

  • How to write a program that mimics Fiddler by using tcpdump or from scratch?

    - by ????
When Fiddler is not on Mac OS X or Ubuntu, and if we don't install/use Wireshark or any other more heavy duty tools, what is a way to use tcpdump so that 1) It can print out GET /foo/bar HTTP/1.1 [request content in RAW text] [response content in RAW text] POST /foo/... HTTP/1.1 this should be able to be done by tcpdump or by using tcpdump in a short shell script or Ruby / Python / Perl script. 2) Actually, it can be neat if a script can output HTML, with GET /foo/bar HTTP/1.1 POST /foo/... HTTP/1.1 on the page, for any browser to display, and then when clicked on any of those lines, it will expand to show the RAW content like (1) above does. Click again and it will hide the details. The expansion UI can be done using jQuery or any JS library. The script may be short... possibly less than 20 lines? Does anybody know how to do it either for (1) or (2)?

  • C++ vector pointer/reference problem

    - by sub
Please take a look at this example: #include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <string> using namespace std; class mySubContainer { public: string val; }; class myMainContainer { public: mySubContainer sub; }; void doSomethingWith( myMainContainer &container ) { container.sub.val = "I was modified"; } int main( ) { vector<myMainContainer> vec; /** * Add test data */ myMainContainer tempInst; tempInst.sub.val = "foo"; vec.push_back( tempInst ); tempInst.sub.val = "bar"; vec.push_back( tempInst ); // 1000 lines of random code here int i; int size = vec.size( ); myMainContainer current; for( i = 0; i < size; i ++ ) { cout << i << ": Value before='" << vec.at( i ).sub.val << "'" << endl; current = vec.at( i ); doSomethingWith( current ); cout << i << ": Value after='" << vec.at( i ).sub.val << "'" << endl; } system("pause");//i suck } A hell lot of code for an example, I know. Now so you don't have to spend years thinking about what this [should] do[es]: I have a class myMainContainer which has as its only member an instance of mySubContainer. mySubContainer only has a string val as member. So I create a vector and fill it with some sample data. Now, what I want to do is: Iterate through the vector and make a separate function able to modify the current myMainContainer in the vector. However, the vector remains unchanged as the output tells: 0: Value before='foo' 0: Value after='foo' 1: Value before='bar' 1: Value after='bar' What am I doing wrong? doSomethingWith has to return void, I can't let it return the modified myMainContainer and then just overwrite it in the vector, that's why I tried to pass it by reference as seen in the doSomethingWith definition above.

  • How to format an email address line (with name) with PHP?

    - by nbr
I'm trying to generate email messages. The recipient's email address and name are specified by a user. What is the correct way to do this with PHP: $to_header = "To: $name <$email>" # incorrect! I already use a decent method for validating the email addressess (let's not go to that now...), but how do I properly encode $name with eg. QP when needed? For example, if the recipient is called "Foo Bär", I should produce (eg.) something like: To: =?utf-8?Q?Foo_B=C3=A4r?= <[email protected]>

  • Alter top and bottom borders of Dojo/Dijit Dialog and ContentPane

    - by Joe Zitzelberger
I have a Dojo/Dijit Dialog that contains a FORM. There is a top border between the title bar and the content, and a bottom border below the content. Both are about 19 or 20 pixels high and colored #eeeeee. I can't find these borders in the CSS anywhere -- actually, neither can the IE Developer Toolbar -- they just don't seem to exist as elements. I suspect that Dijit is adding these programatically. Is there any way to just remove these borders? I just want my content to consume all of the dialog area below the title bar. TIA

  • How to animate the command line?

    - by The.Anti.9
I have always wondered how people update a previous line in a command line. a great example of this is when using the wget command in linux. It creates an ASCII loading bar of sorts that looks like this: [======                    ] 37% and of course the loading bar moves and the percent changes, But it doesn't make a new line. I cannot figure out how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  • Simple ant build script that supports src/ and test/?

    - by M-x
Currently I use an IDE for all my builds and unit tests. Now I have a need to use ant. I found a few simple ant build.xml scripts but they didn't support a separate Junit test/ dir. My projects are structured as follows: src/ com/foo/ com/bar/ test/ -- Mirror of src/, with all *Test.java files. com/foo/ com/bar/ lib/ -- All Java libs, including junit 4. How can a construct a small ant script that builds my src/ and test/ Java classes then runs all my JUnit tests?

  • Tabular.vim : how to align on the first occurrence of 2 different delimiters placed at the beginning of Words?

    - by ThG
I have installed the Tabular plugin, which works very well for me, as long as there are no complicated regexes involved… But I have this list : one @abc @rstuvw &foo three @defg &bar four @mn @opq &kludge &hack twelve @hijkl &baz &quux I wish to align it that way (on @… first, then on &…) : one @abc @rstuvw &foo three @defg &bar four @mn @opq &kludge &hack twelve @hijkl &baz &quux which means I have 3 problems at the same time : align on the first occurrence of 2 different delimiters (@ and &) which are not really delimiters but "special characters" at the beginning of Words This is far beyond my understanding of both regexes and Tabular.vim How should I proceed ?

  • Making fscanf Ignore Optional Parameter

    - by adi92
I am using fscanf to read a file which has lines like Number <-whitespace- string <-whitespace- optional_3rd_column I wish to extract the number and string out of each column, but ignore the 3rd_column if it exists Example Data: 12 foo something 03 bar 24 something #randomcomment I would want to extract 12,foo; 03,bar; 24, something while ignoring "something" and "#randomcomment" I currently have something like while(scanf("%d %s %*s",&num,&word)>=2) { assign stuff } However this does not work with lines with no 3rd column. How can I make it ignore everything after the 2nd string?

  • Is there any way to generate a set of JWebUnit tests from an apache rewrite config?

    - by robbbbbb
Seems unlikely, but is there any way to generate a set of unit tests for the following rewrite rule: RewriteRule ^/(user|group|country)/([a-z]+)/(photos|videos)$ http:/whatever?type=$1&entity=$2&resource=$3 From this I'd like to generate a set of urls of the form: /user/foo/photos /user/bar/photos /group/baz/videos /country/bar/photos etc... The reason I don't want to just do this once by hand is that I'd like the bounded alternation groups (e.g. (user|group|country)) to be able to grow and maintain coverage without having the update the tests by hand. Is there a rewrite rule or regex parser that might be able to do this, or am I doing it by hand?

  • With vim, how can I use autocmd's for files in subdirectories of a specific path?

    - by René Nyffenegger
I am trying to figure out how I can define an autocmd that influences all files under a specific path. The autocmd I have tried is something like autocmd BufNewFile,BufRead /specificPath/** imap <buffer> .... Now, I'd expect this autocmd to be used if I edited, say, /foo/bar/specificPath/baz/something/bla.txt, but not if I edited /foo/bar/here/and/there/moreBla.txt If I start vim being in a directory 'above' specificPath, this works as I want it. But it doesn't if I am below that directory. Obviously, the autocmd's pattern is matched against the relative file name, not the absolute one.

  • Global variable in a recursive function how to keep it at zero?

    - by Grammin
So if I have a recursive function with a global variable var_: int var_; void foo() { if(var_ == 3) return; else var_++; foo(); } and then I have a function that calls foo() so: void bar() { foo(); return; } what is the best way to set var_ =0 everytime foo is called thats not from within itself. I know I could just do: void bar() { var_ =0; foo(); return; } but I'm using the recursive function a lot and I don't want to call foo and forget to set var_=0 at a later date. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this? Thanks, Josh

  • Triggering jquery event function at page load

    - by lazysoundsystem
Here's a little jQuery function that does what I want when a checkbox is clicked, but I have a basic gap in my knowledge: How to register this so that it deals with checkboxes that are already clicked when the page loads? $(document).ready(function() { $('fieldset input:checkbox').click(function() { if ($(this).attr('name') == 'foo') { // hide checkbox 'bar' } else { // show checkbox 'bar' } } }); If I use .trigger('click'), it clicks (or unclicks) all the boxes on page load. I can think of a few ways to do this that would involve repeating portions of the code, but I just know that jQuery already has an elegant answer for this...

  • Getting req.params in order in Express JS

    - by Adam Terlson
In Express, is there a way to get the arguments passed from the matching route in the order they are defined in the route? I want to be able to apply all the params from the route to another function. The catch is that those parameters are not known up front, so I cannot refer to each parameter by name explicitly. app.get(':first/:second/:third', function (req) { output.apply(this, req.mysteryOrderedArrayOfParams); // Does this exist? }); function output() { for(var i = 0; i < arguments.length; i++) { console.log(arguments[i]); } } Call on GET: "/foo/bar/baz" Desired Output (in this order): foo bar baz

  • What's the syntax to import a class in a default package in Java?

    - by Lord Torgamus
Possible Duplicate: How to access java-classes in the default-package? Is it possible to import a class in Java which is in the default package? If so, what is the syntax? For example, if you have package foo.bar; public class SomeClass { // ... in one file, you can write package baz.fonz; import foo.bar.SomeClass; public class AnotherClass { SomeClass sc = new SomeClass(); // ... in another file. But what if SomeClass.java does not contain a package declaration? How would you refer to SomeClass in AnotherClass?

  • How to test that invalid arguments raise an ArgumentError exception using RSpec?

    - by John Topley
I'm writing a RubyGem that can raise an ArgumentError if the arguments supplied to its single method are invalid. How can I write a test for this using RSpec? The example below shows the sort of implementation I have in mind. The bar method expects a single boolean argument (:baz), the type of which is checked to make sure that it actually is a boolean: module Foo def self.bar(options = {}) baz = options.fetch(:baz, true) validate_arguments(baz) end def self.validate_arguments(baz) raise(ArgumentError, ":baz must be a boolean") unless valid_baz?(baz) end def self.valid_baz?(baz) baz.is_a?(TrueClass) || baz.is_a?(FalseClass) end end

  • javascript function object's inheritFrom method

    - by gawpertron
I've come across this.inheritFrom that enables you to inherit from a super class. var superClass = function() { this.foo = 'foo'; this.bar = 'bar'; } var subClass = function() { this.inheritFrom = superClass; this.inheritFrom(); this.myFunction = function() { return this.foo; }; } I've looked in Mozilla and MSDN, but I can't seem to find it documented any where. As far as I can see it works in IE6 and Firefox 3. Any reason why it wouldn't be documented?
