  • How do I make dashboard widgets active on logon?

    There are a few dashboard widget that are useful even when not going in Dashboard. For example, SVN Notifier sends a Growl notification when commits are made to a repository you want to watch. Or, Delivery Status does the same for status update on tracked packages. The thing is when I log into OS X, those status updates won't happen until the first time I actually enter into Dashboard, so it looks like they are not initialized at startup. How to fix this?

  • ASP.NET/mono performance on Linux

    Anybody knows how asp.net/mono performance is on Linux ? I mean, which server gives you the best performance/delivery time (Apache/Apache2, xsp2, lighthttp, nginx, other) ? Since all asp.net goes via xsp2, I'd say xsp2 would certainly be fastest, but it's probably missing a lot of features, which lighthttp offers (e.g. mod_dosevasive, URL-rewriting, etc.).

  • Sending text messages from Raspberry Pi via email fails

    I'm using mailx on my raspberry pi to try to send text messages updates for event monitoring. My phone number: 9876543210 My phone's email-to-text gateway address: [email protected] I can 1) Send emails from my raspberry pi to various email addresses. mail -r [email protected] -s "My Subject" [email protected] < body.txt and off it goes and is successfully delivered. 2) Send emails from various email address (not on RPi) using mailx to the above phone-email address and have them delivered as text messages. However, when sending emails to [email protected] from the Raspberry Pi using mailx the emails seem to spiral into the void and are never heard of again (no errors, no undeliverable messages, nothing). Does anyone know what could be causing this to go awry? Something about the basic deployment of the mail server on the pi? EDIT Based on @kobaltz's suggestion, I used sendmail instead. This led to a hang, then an error that stated that I lacked a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). I then used this website's instructions to add a domain name to the RPi. To paraphrase: I have set the FQDN in /etc/hostname: my-host-name.my-domain.com and /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.0.5 my-host-name.my-domain.com my-host-name Then add to /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: MASQUERADE_AS(`my-domain.com') MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(`my-host-name.my-domain.com') FEATURE(`masquerade_entire_domain') FEATURE(`masquerade_envelope') I put this in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf, BEFORE the MAILER() lines, ran sendmailconfig, answered Yes to the questions about using the existing files, and restarted sendmail. Emails now have the proper domain name. Progress, however, I am now stuck at the following error: 354 Enter mail, end with "." on a line by itself >>> . 050 <[email protected]>... Connecting to mxx.cingularme.com. via esmtp... 050 421 Service not available 050 >>> QUIT 050 <[email protected]>...   • Flush all messages in mailbox from Zimbra to another server

    I have a primary Dovecot + Postfix mail server and a secondary Zimbra 8.0.1 server. The primary server went down for a week and all the incoming messages were delivered to the secondary server which has configured a "catch all" account. Now that the primary server is back online, I'd like to flush all messages on the "catch all" mailbox to the primary server for appropriate delivery to the corresponding user mailbox (and its own rules). Is that possible?

    I am using Qmail and when I am sending mails I am sometimes getting the bellow error in my log for a particular domain. Jun 22 05:20:47 221832-web1 qmail: 1308738047.397431 delivery 1040373: deferral: CNAME_lookup_failed_temporarily._(#4.4.3)/ Can anyone please tell me what are the factors responsible for such error ? What are the DNS requests sent by Qmail when sending an email ? FYI: The patch for the DNS cache size issue is already included in Qmail.

    The setup is like this (Ubuntu 9.10): eth0: 1.1.1.1 name.isp.com eth0:0 2.2.2.2 example2.com eth0:1 3.3.3.3 example3.com example2.com and example3.com are web apps which need to send emails to their users. 2.2.2.2 points to example2.com and vice-versa (A/PTR). MX - Google. Google handles all incoming mail. 3.3.3.3 points to example3.com and vice-versa (A/PTR). MX - Google. Google handles all incoming mail. Requirements: Local delivery must be disabled (must deliver to MX specified server), so that the following works (note that there is no local user bob on the machine, but there is an existing bob email user): echo "Test" | mail -s "Test 6" [email protected] I need to be able to specify from which IP/domain name the email is delivered when sending an email. I fought with sendmail. With not much luck. Here's some debug info: sendmail -d0.12 -bt < /dev/null Canonical name: name.isp.com UUCP nodename: host a.k.a.: example2.com a.k.a.: example3.com ... Sendmail always uses canonical name (taken from eth0). I've found no way for it to select one of the UUCP codenames. It uses it for sending email: echo -e "To: [email protected]\nSubject: Test\nTest\n" | sendmail -bm -t -v [email protected]... I also know about spoofing sender field by using mail -a "From: <[email protected]>" but it seems to be a half-solution (mails are still sent from isp.com domain instead of proper example2.com, so PTR records are unused and there's more risk of being flagged as spam/spammer).

    I configurated postfix to force uses TLS. When an external client try to send an email using this server there is not any problems.   • Simple email server with a web interface [on hold]

    I have purchased a domain name for my blog, and I'd like to use [email protected] as my email address. I have a Linux (Ubuntu 13.10) VPS that's running the LAMP stack. I would like to install some software that would include spam filtering, email delivery, etc, but would be simpler to maintain than something like this (possibly hundreds of steps, and a lot of maintenance headaches too I suppose). I would also require a web interface at mail.mydomain.com - but I suppose that Roundcube is an option

  • Postfix configuration (relay access)

    I have just installed POSTFIX on a Debian box, I pointed the relay host config setting to an exchange server which will deliver the mail to external users. So what I am trying to do is telnet to the debian box and send an email to [email protected] which will then be past to the exchange server for delivery. The problem is I get the following: rcpt to:[email protected] 554 relay access denied I have seen a section in the config "mydestination" but i want the exchange server to decide which domains it will deliver for and not the POSTFIX server.

    I have a tiny home server setup behind my cable modem (bresnan communications). I want to be able for this box to send out email (not receive) for notifications and whatnot. What I have already done: I have installed and configured sendmail. I have added mail.bresnan.net as my SMART_HOST directive. You can see where the message is accepted for delivery by my sendmail server, then where it attempts to hand off to bresnan's server and it timesout. This is where my question is. Asstute readers will notice that pmx0.bresnan.net is not what I have my SMART_HOST directive set as. This is the (outside?) MX server for the bresnan.com/net domain. Apparently bresnan has their network configured so that you can not access this server from within their own network and instead must use the mail.bresnan.net server (which I can connect to). The problem is that I don't know how to tell sendmail to use this server and not the domain. What I have tried Setting a hosts entry so that the pmx0 server points to the mail IP address. This doesn't work, which makes sense as sendmail is obviously doing an MX query to find the server which returns the IP so there is never a need to do a 'normal' DNS resolve so the hosts file never gets involved.

    Hello everyone, I'd like to setup postfix as an MTA for 2 domains, about 10 users each. I'm a bit confused with the documentation. Postfix has so many options for mail delivery. I'd like to have a simple file where I would store all the email addresses (and possibly their corresponding mailboxes). I wouldn't like neither system's passswd file nor mysql to be used for storing email users. What parts of documentation I should be focused on?

Any idea please how to debug?

  • Secure Standalone Server Plus Firewall Unit [closed]

    We need to send a 2U server, 1U UPS and 1U firewall to a third-party. The thing is, it needs to be a secured case (locked unit) that has proper airflow and we can have power and networking cables coming out of the back. We've googled far and wide and have only been able to find 'hard case' units that offer some level of security but they are extremely bulky and require freight delivery.     I was very happy to receive an email last week to confirm I would receive the MVP Award for SQL Server for 2010 - very exciting news ! I missed the first FedEx delivery, however this weekend they were able to successfully deliver the package from Microsoft and it began to feel very real as I opened the box to find the MVP glass-ware! Since leaving Microsoft, the past couple of years have been incredibly challenging, exciting and satisfying.  The MVP Award is really special, the SQL community has a fantastic, international base with many successful events, leaders and contributors providing an impressive network both online and in-person.
