  Facebook gurus, I have been implementing the Facebook Like button for a number of clients lately. • Finding an A* heuristic for a directed graph

  In a previous question, I asked about finding a route (or path if you will) in a city. That is all dandy. The solution I chose was with the A* algorithm, which really seems to suit my needs. What I find puzzling is heuristic. How do I find one in an environment without constant distance between 2 nodes? Meaning, not every 2 nodes have the same distance between them. What I have is nodes (junctures), streets with weight (which may also be one-way), a start/finish node (since the start and end is always in the same place) and a goal node. In an ordinary case, I would just use the same way I got to goal to go back, but since one of the streets could have been a one-way, that may not be possible. The main question How do I find a heuristic in a directed graph?

We are planning to expand the line with a suite of new products that will share data with the existing product. To support this, we are looking to consolidate business logic into a single place: a web service layer. The WS layer will be used by: The web applications A tool to import data A tool to integrate with other client software (not an API per se) We also want to create an API that can be used by our customers that are capable of using it to create their own integrations. We are struggling with the following question: Should the internal API (aka the WS layer) and the external API be one in the same, with security and permission settings to control what can be done by who, or should they be two separate applications where the external API just calls the internal API like any other application? So far in our debate it seems that separating them may be more secure, but will add overhead. What have others done in a similar situation?

  My question is very similar this but I guess I need to take it one step further. Facebook says "The data is passed to your application as a signed request. The signed_request parameter is a simple way to make sure that the data you're receiving is the actual data sent by Facebook." After a user has logged into my asp c# MVC site and clicked "Register", the redirect-url is http://site/account/register. At that point (the post to the account/register control), I would like to gather the user's information using the signed request so that I can register them with my site locally. I cannot figure out how to access the data facebook makes available. $data = json_decode(base64_url_decode($payload), true); What is the equivalent in C#? What type of variable/data is facebook passing in the post? And how do I access "$payload"?

  I have downloaded both samples for the Facebook Developer Kit from Codeplex and Facebook.NET followed both tutorials down to the word - But as soon as I browse to me app on Facebook I am getting the following error for BOTH versions? API Error Code: 100 API Error Description: Invalid parameter Error Message: Requires valid next URL. Anyone else had this problem? I'm struggling to find an answer to what the error actually means?   I'm looking to determine the congressional district based on an address my user is providing. This will avoid having the user to look it up themselves. Does an API of this sort exist?   I have an API that is EJB based (i.e. there are remote interfaces defined) that most of the clients use. As the client base grows there are issues with updates to the API and forcing clients to have to update to the latest version and interface definition. I would like to possibly look at having a couple versions of the API deployed at a time (i.e. have multiple EAR files deployed with different versions of the API) to support not forcing the clients to update as frequently. I am not concerned about the actual deployment of this, but instead am looking for thoughts and experiences that others have on using EJB's as an API client. How do you support updating versions, are clients required to update? Does anyone run multiple versions in a production environment? Are there pro's cons? Any other experiences or thoughts on this approach, and having an EJB centric API?

  I'm trying to compare two graphs using hash value ( i.e, at the time of comparison, try to avoid traversing the graph ) Is there a way to make a function such that the hash values compared can also lead to determining at which height the graphs differ? The comparisons between two graphs are to be made by comparing children at a certain level. One way to compare the graphs is have a final hash value for the root node and compare them, but that wouldn't directly reflect at which level the graphs differ, since their immediate children might be the same ( or any other case ).

But for some reason following code goes into some infinite loop during first connection, and then works fine unless I delete this app from my facebook profile which causes freezing again.   After searchinge litteraly 1 day on fb and google for an up-to-date and working way to do something seemingly simple: I am looking for a step-by-step explanation to get offline_access for a user for a facebook app and then using this (session key) to retrieve offline & not within a browser friends & profile data. Preferrably doing this in the Fb Java API. Thanks. And yes I did check the facebook wiki. Why can't facebook just do simple documentation, I mean there are like 600 people working there? • Enumerating all hamiltonian paths from start to end vertex in grid graph

  Hello, I'm trying to count the number of Hamiltonian paths from a specified start vertex that end at another specified vertex in a grid graph. Right now I have a solution that uses backtracking recursion but is incredibly slow in practice (e.g. O(n!) / 3 hours for 7x7). I've tried a couple of speedup techniques such as maintaining a list of reachable nodes, making sure the end node is still reachable, and checking for isolated nodes, but all of these slowed my solution down. I know that the problem is NP-complete, but it seems like some reasonable speedups should be achievable in the grid structure. Since I'm trying to count all the paths, I'm sure that the search must be exhaustive, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to prune out paths that aren't promising. Does anyone have some suggestions for speeding the search up? Or an alternate search algorithm?

• iOS Facebook Access Token To Get User Wall Feed (status)

  [DISCLAIMER : None of the access token or ID below here are real] I've done research for three solid days and no result on how to get user wall feed(post). I have used https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?client_id=YOUR_APP_ID&client_secret=YOUR_APP_SECRET&grant_type=client_credentials and get the access token which is something like this access_token=454345994651138|bAMGfuW-ueNXGCahley7ga125HN and then https://graph.facebook.com/100005939123542/feed?access_token=454345994651138|bAMGfuW-ueNXGCahley7ga125HN It gives me general information such as user's likes, name, id, current city... but NOT user's wall posts. I've learned that there are three types of access token, which is App Token, User Token, and Page Token. In order to get user/feed by using graphAPI, I need to request to get User Token, but there's NO information in the lousy Facebook Doc! (Which frustrated me the most!) In order to generate the user access token, we need to set some permission, generate the access token, and GET the user's wall feed, which is in JSON format. My question is : How do I get the User Access Token in order to get user wall post in iOS Xcode?

Is it possible to integrate similar functionality into a Wordpress blog? Are the relevant API's open? Are there any plugins available? Thanks. • Huge difference between Facebook Ad Click figures and Apache log requests

  We're running a facebook ad campaign for our business but there seems to be a huge discrepancy between the number of clicks registered and the number of requests made with "facebook.com" in the HTTP referrer. The difference can be anything between 40-80 clicks/requests. I understand why the Google Analytics would be off and I understand that the figures shouldnt be exactly the same but surely if 100 people click the ad then I should be seeing at least 90 requests for the homepage with facebook.com as the referrer? Can anybody provide any insight into why this may be happening?

• Facebook Connect with CodeIgniter login problems

  Im having a problem using Facebook Connect on my latest website. Im running it using the CodeIgniter framework and Elliot Haughin's library (http://www.haughin.com/code/facebook/). Everything is setup okay, when the user goes to login, the request is sent to Facebook okay and returns with the code (which i presume identifies the session?). However, it doesnt seem to update the library, and after doing all this still thinks that the user is not logged in. It makes me think its a bug in the library itself, but I can't see anyone else with this problem. I have tried dumping the error log from the library but it doesnt find any problems. If someone could shed any light I would be so grateful!

So far I have come to this: site:facebook.com/pages + "business type" + "country" + "@email.com" I need to add something else so that it can give me back the date it was founded in. If you see the facebook fan page in the about section; there is for e.g (Founded 06/02/2010) The bracketed info above is what I need to add to succeed in adding; any idea?

  I am a new user of Ubuntu and I want to connect empathy internet messaging with Facebook. So when I select Facebook from the list given in Online Accounts a window opens up for me to authorize access and a url opens saying: Success SECURITY WARNING: Please treat the URL above as you would your password and do not share it with anyone. Although after this nothing happens... When I open the messenger nothing comes up and in Online Accounts it still asks: Please authorize Ubuntu to access your Facebook account... but I have already given permission... Please help me out.
