  • WiX custom action with DTF... quite confused...

    Okay, I have decided the only way I can do what I want to do with WiX (thanks to an old installer I didn't write that I now have to upgrade) is with some CUSTOM ACTIONS. Basically, I need to back up a file before the RemoveExistingProducts and restore that file again after RemoveExistingProducts. I think this is what's called a "type 2 custom action." The sequencing I think I understand, however, what I don't understand is first of all how I pass data to my C# action (the directory the file is in from the WiX) and how to reference my C# (DTF?) action with the Binary and CustomAction tags. Also, does all this need to be in a tag? All the examples show it that way.     I am looking for a library in any language--preferably PHP though--that will display the difference between two web pages. The differences can be displayed side-by-side, all in one document, or in any other creative way. Every solution I tried suffered from one or more of the following problems: If I change the attribute of an element (eg. change [table border="1"] to [table border="2"]), then I'll have an extra table tag in the output (eg. [table border="1"][table border="1"][tr][td]...). And, one table tag will have a del tag around it, while the other will have an ins tag around it, and that will obviously cause problems. If I change [html][body][b]some content here[/b][/body][/html] to [html][body][i]some other content here[/i][/body][/html] then it looks like [html][body][b][del]original[/del][i][ins]new[/ins] content here[/b][/i][/body][/html] I'm looking for out-of-the-box ideas. Any ideas are welcome.

  • Make MySQL database replication always use the most free node?

    We started using Multi-Master Replication Manager for MySQL, and I am wondering whether it is possible to to treat this setup like multi-symmetric processing: a process pops off the process queue, and the node (in this case a server) that is most free is selected for the job. It seems that what happens is, the service switches to a slave ONLY when it mysqld crashes or goes away. Is there a way to make database replication for MySQL act in more of a distributed manner? Maybe there is other software besides MMM that can do this? Is there a way to switch the reader role to another server whene mysqld slows down (rather than just when it fails)?

  • Can iPad/iPhone Touch Points be Wrong Due to Calibration?

    I have an iPad application that uses the whole screen (that is, UIStatusBarHidden is set true in the Info.plist file). The main window's frame is set to (0, 0, 768, 1024), as is the main view in that frame. The main view has multitouch enabled. The view has code to handle touches: - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:nil]; NSLog(@"touchesMoved at location %@", NSStringFromCGPoint(location)); } } When I run the app in the simulator, it works pretty much as expected. As I move the mouse from one edge of the screen to the other, reported X values go from 0 to 767. Reported Y values go from 20 to 1023, but it is a known issue that the simulator doesn't report touches in the top 20 pixels of the screen, even when there is no status bar. Here's what's weird: When I run the app on an actual iPad, the X values go from 0 to 767 as expected, but reported Y values go from -6 to 1017. The fact that it seems to work properly on the simulator leads me to suspect that real devices' touchscreens are not perfectly calibrated, and mine is simply reporting values six pixels too low. Can anyone verify that this is the case? Otherwise, is there anything else that could account for the Y values being six pixels off from what I expect? (In a few days, I should have a second iPad, so I can test this with another device and compare the results.)

  • How to remove a status message added by the seam security module?

    I would like to show a different status message, when a suspended user tries to login. If the user is active we return true from the authenticate method, if not we add a custom StatusMessage message mentioning that the "User X has been suspended". The underlying Identity authentication also fails and adds a StatusMessage. I tried removing the seam generated statusMessage with the following methods, but it doesn't seem to work and shows me 2 different status messages (my custom message, seam generated). What would be the issue here?   • Access 2003 VBA: Return only the index of the last item selected in a ListBox

    I will preface this with saying, this is my first time using listboxes and earlier posts were criticized for lacking detail. So, all help is greatly appreciated and I hope this is enough information without being overkill. Currently, I have a listbox updating a junction table with an on click event (iterates through selected items and if they are not in the table it adds them). The list box is also updated by an option group (based on the option group value a query populates the list with the appropriate items and they are selected/highlighted based on the junction table). Also, when items are a "sub-category" the "category" is also selected. This functions perfectly until I ask it to do more... Problem 1: I need to differentiate "categories" of items from each other. So, I have included a blank item to the list box to add a space between categories. When the blank items are present the listbox does not update the junction table properly and vice versa. Problem 2: My users want to be able to deselect the "category" under certain circumstances. This is fine, just de-select the "category" after the "sub-category" is selected. However, the "category" is re-selected whenever the listbox is clicked again because it iterates through all entries. Perceived solution for both problems: Return only the index of the item (de)selected and manipulate accordingly. Is this possible? If so, how? OR: Should I take a different approach?

    How can I validate the cells in a DataGridColumn individually? The validation is configured per-row. For example FIELD VALUE TYPE age 13 Integer height 13x3 Integer registered true Boolean temperature 98.G6 Float In this case, of course 13x3 and 98.G6 would be invalid. Writing a Validator is no problem, and I can grab the TYPE from the data provider object, but now do I get individual access to the GUI cells so I can give the Validator a source which is an individual cell, set the errorString on an individual cell.

  • Storing multiple inputs with the same name in a CodeIgniter session

    I've posted this in the CodeIgniter forum and exhausted the forum search engine as well, so apologies if cross-posting is frowned upon. Essentially, I've got a single input, set up as <input type="text" name="goal">. At a user's request, they may add another goal, which throws a duplicate to the DOM. What I need to do is grab these values in my CodeIgniter controller and store them in a session variable. My controller is currently constructed thusly: function goalsAdd(){ $meeting_title = $this->input->post('topic'); $meeting_hours = $this->input->post('hours'); $meeting_minutes = $this->input->post('minutes'); $meeting_goals = $this->input->post('goal'); $meeting_time = $meeting_hours . ":" . $meeting_minutes; $sessionData = array( 'totaltime' => $meeting_time, 'title' => $meeting_title, 'goals' => $meeting_goals ); $this->session->set_userdata($sessionData); $this->load->view('test', $sessionData); } Currently, obviously, my controller gets the value of each input, writing over previous values in its wake, leaving only a string of the final value. I need to store these, however, so I can print them on a subsequent page. What I imagine I'd love to do is extend the input class to be able to call $this-input-posts('goal'). Eventually I will need to store other arrays to session values. But I'm totally open to implementation suggestion. Thanks so much for any help you can give.

    Crux of my problem: I've got an XML file that returns 20 results. Within these results are all the elements I need to get. Now, I need to return them in a random order, and be able to specifically work with item 1, items 2-5, and items 6-17. Idea 1: Use this script to convert the object to an array, which I can shuffle through. This is close to working, but a few of the elements I need to get are under a different namespace, and I don't seem to be able to get them.
