• Programmatically adding a site to the Allowed Sites of the IE Pop-up Blocker (VB.NET)

  A few more details. I need to programmatically (Winforms, VB.NET) check if a site is in the Allowed Sites list of the IE Pop-Up Blocker (IE 7 and 8 and Windows XP, Vista and 7) and if not, add it. The application is fully trusted and I don't want to disable the Pop-Up blocker entirely. To clarify some things, this is for a web-automation application with several users across 3 countries. I want to avoid receiving tons of emails and explaining each time how to add the website to the Allowed Sites manually. Also, some of the users have Google Toolbar installed, which also has a Popup Blocker creating trouble to my app. Can this also be done programmatically?

• iPhone SDK: Do I need to ask user for permissions to use GPS?

  In my iPhone application I need to use GPS (CoreLocation to be exact) to get current position of the device. I know that most (if not all) applications using GPS have a popup implemented asking the user to allow GPS access. Is that done automatically by the iPhone SDK or should I implement such functionality myself? I've tried to run my app on iPhone Simulator and it didn't ask for permissions at all so I'm wondering if the same thing will happen on the actual phone. And if I implement that itself and the SKD provides that out-of-the-box then I'll have two confirmation in my app which I don't want.

• Blackberry license screen agreement like Facebook

  Hi, I have a "basic" license agreement screen for now, a Screen with a title set and vertical field containing a textfield, separatorfield and then 2 buttons (accept or decline). The license is pretty long, it's annoying going all the way down (except with the storm it's pretty easy) and I want a kind of popup screen showing the license and the 2 buttons at the bottom. To give you an example, the exact SAME as the Facebook or App World application's license screen agreement! When you scroll the text, it's going a lot faster and it's visualy great. Thank you!

• [WPF] Drag and drop between 2 popups

  Our application is a WPF (4.0) AppBar docked to the top of the desktop. Various buttons in the AppBar produce Popups containing various data (in ListBoxes). I am trying to implement drag and drop of items between 2 Popups. It's pretty standard boiler plate stuff using Josh Smith's draggable ListBox that I've used half a dozen times before. Drag is initiating correctly, but the target Popup is not receiving the DragOver or Drop. Is this a focus issue? Or is there something else at work here?

• How to open a new browser window AND run Javascript through a single user interaction?

  Hi I have an HTML page with a simple form. When the user clicks "submit", I'd like a new window to open with the processed results of the form, AND to have the original page redirect somewhere else. If I use a link with target="_blank", I can open the results window but not redirect the original page. If I use Javascript to try and open the new window and then redirect the current page, the opening of the new window gets blocked (at least by my Firefox's default popup blocker). Is there any way to get both a new window and run some Javascript in the original page? Thanks!

  Hi there I have a MenuBar which contains general menu items like File, View, Tools ,Help. I have sub items in each of those menuitems. The problem is that i want to open the 'File' menu automatically when i press Alt+f key. I could capture the keyevents on the view. But how to open the File Menu of the MenuBar (what is the function that needs to be called from MenuBar Class to popup those sub menuitems) ? • Saving/Associating slider values with a pop-up menu

  Hi, Following on from a question I posted yesterday about GUIs, I have another problem I've been working with. This question related to calculating the bending moment on a beam under different loading conditions. On the GUI I have developed so far, I have a number of sliders (which now work properly) and a pop-up menu which defines the load case. I would like to be able to select the load case from the pop-up menu and position the loads as appropriate, in order to define each load case in turn. The output that I need is an array defining the load case number (the rows) and a number of loading parameters (the itensity and position of the loads, which are controlled by the sliders). The problem I am having is that I can produce this array (of the size I need) and define the loading for one load case (by selecting the pop-up menu) using the sliders, but when I change the popup menu again, the array only keeps the loading for the load case selected by the pop-up menu. Can anyone suggest an approach I can take with (specifically to store the variables from each load case) or an example that illustrates a similar solution to the problem? The probem may be a bit vague, so please let me know if anything needs clearing up. Many Thanks, James

• How can I make the modal popup scroll its contents with the page?

  I've got a modal popup and when it loads contents that are taller than the browser height I am unable to scroll down to view the rest of the information. Instead the background can scroll but the popup won't. Instead I'd like to have the popup stay put and when the user scrolls up or down it leave the popup in place and let them scroll to the bottom of the contents. If you make a super long post on Facebook the popup works correctly and I'd like to know how I can get this same effect with this control.

• How do you modify a modal popup from ASP codebehind instead of letting it close?

  I'm using SimpleModal to create a popup on an ASP.net application. The OK button calls a server-side function - and based on the resulta of that function I'd like to modify the popup (make some things visible, etc.) instead of letting it close. If that's too difficult, I'd like to open the popup again without the user having to re-click on anything. I'm just not sure what the best way to do this is. Currently the OK button in the popup looks like this: <asp:ImageButton ID="submitInfoBtn" OnClick="btnSubmitInfo_Click" ImageUrl="css/assets/btn_ok.png" runat="server"/> and there is nothing defined that tells anything that the OK button should close the popup (the Cancel button has class="simplemodal-close", so I would expect it to do just that, but not the OK button) - anyone have any ideas on the best way through this?   I am trying to find a code that will do a popup at the initial start up on an installed app. Much like a changelog that is starting to appear in more and more apps. I have found some similar codes, but being a beginner I haven't been able to figure out where to exactly put the code in and I always have tons of errors that still do not work once I try and fix them.   We have a popup dialogue that requests users email address or facebook login. The page behind the popup loads, so a page view is counted. We want to measure: How many users ignored the popup completely How many users engaged the popup, but don't complete the process (we trigger an event when the user performs actions defined as "engaging") How many users completed the popup Bounce rates aren't telling because some users won't receive the popup. We are basically triggering events "PopupDisplayed" "PopupEngaged" and "PopupComplete", with labels to differentiate between email and facebook. But I don't think I can set goals to count "Users who received 'PopupDisplayed' AND 'PopupComplete'" events, so I can count how many users both saw the popup and completed it.

• WPF custom BalloonTips problem with multithreading

  Hi, I have read other related question but i cant really get them to relate to this so I thought it were best to ask, Im pretty new to WPF and so on so please bear with me. I am using this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/wpf_notifyicon.aspx api to work with custom WPF Windows (in particular FancyBalloon). However, i'm coming across the following problem, I seem unable to start off BalloonTips in a separate thread ( i need this because i'm parsing emails and hence if there are 3 emails for instance, it displays the first email (that works fine), but when it comes to the second email it crashes with a TargetInvocationException , {"Specified element is already the logical child of another element. Disconnect it first."}. Thing is, im supposedly working with the same instance and i have attempted calling it to close it before, disposing it etc but to no avail. (then again if i dispose it, i cant create another instance as apparently WPF UI components must be called from a static thread so throughout the looping of emails + displaying balloon, i am trying to use the same BalloonTip. Any suggestions please? I am really at a loss here and i've been on it for quite a while now :/ I was wondering if there was anyone

• How do I create a pull-down/up window in Android GUI?

  For Android GUI: I would like to create a window that I can pull up from the bottom of another window, kind of like the Notification bar or the tab in the bottom on Spotify for Android. I want to be able to grab a small piece of the window and pull it up. Or just click it and it will "pop up". And afterwards be able to pull or click it so it returs to its original space. When users move the mouse cursor on each field (Title, description, department etc.) the related tip will be automatically became visible as a simple pop-up (tool tip) and summarize what they should write there. and when the mouse cursor is not on one of these fields there is no tool tip.   We have an administrative portal that our teachers constantly forget to download their latest PDF instructions before logging out and/or closing the browser window. I have looked around but can't find what I'm looking for. I want to accomplish the following goals: Goal 1 Before a user can close the browser window, they are prompted "Did you remember to download your form?" with two options, yes/no. If yes, close, if no, return to page. Goal 2 Before a user can click the 'logout' button, they are prompted with the same as above. • Annoying Blank pop-up window go away

  Hi All, Sorry about the wording for my question title. I have a basic HTML anchor tag that when clicked it is suppose to bring up a dialog box to download a file from a differnt website. I am using an attribute of target="_blank" so that when my hyperlink is clicked, I don't navigate away from my main window. This is all the easy part (if it was so easy I wouldnt be here though). When I do the above though, and click on the hyperlink, an annoying blank window pops up with my download dialog box behind it. How do I get rid of that annoying blank window and keep only my download dialog box on the screen? • How to do a pop-up window with textfields in Objective-C?

  In the iPhone Objective-C app, I want to pop-up a window (which is smaller than the main view, and the app does not stop running) when a button is tapped, with textField for the user to input text, and dismiss it when it is done. This is widely used but I really cannot google the relevant content out. What view should I use to connect it with the button? AlertView (which seems you cannot add dialogue in), ModalView?
