  • Windows Server 2008 R2 + IIS 7.5 + ASP.NET 4.0 = HTTP Error 500.0

    I am having an impossible time getting asp.net 4.0 to work in any fashion at all. In fact, I completely wiped my server, reinstalled with Server 2008 R2 Standard (running on a VMWare ESXi box, not that it should matter), and cannot even get a test .aspx page to work. Here is exactly what I did: Installed 2008 R2 Standard Activated windows and enabled Remote Desktop Installed the Web Server Role with the necessary role services(common http, asp.net, logging, tracing, management service and FTP) Enabled the management service Installed .Net Framework 4.0 via web executable Added FTP publishing to the default web site Switched default web site application pool to asp.net 4.0 (integrated) Added a 'test.aspx' file to the inetpub\wwwroot folder (contents below) Opened a browser to http://localhost/test.aspx and received a 500.0 error (also below) What am I missing? I haven't touched IIS in a while (3+ years), so it could be something stupid/trvial. Please point it out, call me a noob; my ego can take it.   • GIT: clone works, remote push doesn't. Remote repository over copssh.

    Hi all, I've "setup-a-msysgit-server-with-copssh-on-windows", following Tim Davis' guide and I was now learning how to use the git commands, following Jason Meridth's guide, and I have managed to get everything working fine, but now I can't pass the push command. I have set the server and the client on the same machine (for now), win7-x64.   • More localized, efficient Lowest Common Ancestor algorithm given multiple binary trees?

    I have multiple binary trees stored as an array. In each slot is either nil (or null; pick your language) or a fixed tuple storing two numbers: the indices of the two "children". No node will have only one child -- it's either none or two. Think of each slot as a binary node that only stores pointers to its children, and no inherent value. Take this system of binary trees: 0 1 / \ / \ 2 3 4 5 / \ / \ 6 7 8 9 / \ 10 11 The associated array would be: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 [ [2,3] , [4,5] , [6,7] , nil , nil , [8,9] , nil , [10,11] , nil , nil , nil , nil ] I've already written simple functions to find direct parents of nodes (simply by searching from the front until there is a node that contains the child) Furthermore, let us say that at relevant times, both all trees are anywhere between a few to a few thousand levels deep. I'd like to find a function P(m,n) to find the lowest common ancestor of m and n -- to put more formally, the LCA is defined as the "lowest", or deepest node in which have m and n as descendants (children, or children of children, etc.). If there is none, a nil would be a valid return. Some examples, given our given tree: P( 6,11) # => 2 P( 3,10) # => 0 P( 8, 6) # => nil P( 2,11) # => 2 The main method I've been able to find is one that uses an Euler trace, which turns the given tree, with a node A to be the invisible parent of 0 and 1 with a depth of -1, into: A-0-2-6-2-7-10-7-11-7-2-0-3-0-A-1-4-1-5-8-5-9-5-1-A And from that, simply find the node between your given m and n that has the lowest number; For example, to find P(6,11), look for a 6 and an 11 on the trace. The number between them that is the lowest is 2, and that's your answer. If A is in between them, return nil. -- Calculating P(6,11) -- A-0-2-6-2-7-10-7-11-7-2-0-3-0-A-1-4-1-5-8-5-9-5-1-A ^ ^ ^ | | | m lowest n Unfortunately, I do believe that finding the Euler trace of a tree that can be several thousands of levels deep is a bit machine-taxing...and because my tree is constantly being changed throughout the course of the programming, every time I wanted to find the LCA, I'd have to re-calculate the Euler trace and hold it in memory every time. Is there a more memory efficient way, given the framework I'm using? One that maybe iterates upwards? One way I could think of would be the "count" the generation/depth of both nodes, and climb the lowest node until it matched the depth of the highest, and increment both until they find someone similar. But that'd involve climbing up from level, say, 3025, back to 0, twice, to count the generation, and using a terribly inefficient climbing-up algorithm in the first place, and then re-climbing back up. Are there any other better ways?

    I have an application with numerous WCF services that make use of LINQ-To-SQL as the data access model. I am having lots of problems with the "DataContext accessed after Dispose" exception. I understand what this exception is and that it is occurring because I have not "initialised" the data that is trying to be accessed. I've read many articles that suggest that I called ToList() on any arrays before the parent object is returned by the service. My issue is that I am getting this exception and I don't know where it is originating from and therefore I don't know what hasn't been initialised. Can anyone advise how best to identify the root cause? (I have used the MS Service Trace Viewer and this doesn't seem to give me any further information)

    Hello, I get a CommunicationException while using WCF service. The message is: The remote endpoint no longer recognizes this sequence. This is most likely due to an abort on the remote endpoint. The value of wsrm:Identifier is not a known Sequence identifier. The reliable session was faulted. The exception is thrown in a moment after a contract method was called. Before calling contract method the channel state is Opened. I restore my service client after catching this exception and for some time it works fine. But then this error occures again. It seems like some timeout is exceeded, but I can't understand which one exactly. I use wsHttpBinding with reliableSession enabled. The InactivityTimeout is set to half an hour and I'm sure it's not exceeded, because exception is thrown earlier.

    Hi All, I'm currently struggling with this "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute" issue. I have searched about this error message, and it's all related to the foreach statement. I do have the some foreach statements, but they are just simply representing the data. I did not using any remove or add inside the foreach statement. NOTE: The error randomly happens (about 4-5 times a day). The application is the MVC website. There are about 5 users operate this applications (about 150 orders a day). Could it be some another users modified the collection, and then occur this error? I have log4net setup and the settings can be found here Make sure that the controller has a parameterless public constructor I do have parameterless public constructor in AdminProductController Does anyone know why this happen and how to resolve this issue?     hi All, I am using Domino.dll to access a NSF file in C#.NET 2.0 I am using multiple thread to access 4 NSF files at a time, its working fine for small NSF files, but if i try to access large NSF files i get the Out of Memory Exception and Maximum number of memory segments that Notes can support has been exceeded. This exception usually occurs when i access NotesDocument object from a large NSFVIewFolder in a while loop. I am releasing the instance of the NotesDocument by using the Marshal.ReleaseComObject(NotesDocument); still it throws the same exception. My goal is to access multiple NSF files at a time (MAX 4 NSF files at a time) for large NSF files (may be in GB). Kindly help me, if you got some solution. Thanks.

    I have a bit of a newbie xml schema question. I believe the answer is that what I need to do is not possible with schema, but I'd like to be sure. The problem is that I have a webservice that returns a response with one type of root element on success (say <Response), and on a complete failure, returns a document with a different root element (say, <Exception). So, basically, two completely different documents: <Response......</Response OR <Exception....</Exception Is it possible to describe these two different documents with one schema document? It's like I want a choice as the first element under the schema element -- but that isn't valid syntax. I've tried a couple of variants that parse as valid xsd, but don't validate the documents. Any suggestions? Or is this simply not possible? Thanks very much in advance -- m

    I'm using Ninject for DI in my asp.net application, so my Global class inherits from NinjectHttpApplication. In my CreateKernel(), I'm creating my custom modules and DI is working fine for me. However, I notice that there is a Logger property in the NinjectHttpApplication class, so I'm trying to use this in Application_Error whenever an exception is not caught. I think I'm creating the nlog module correctly for Ninject, but my logger is always null.   • EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) at random during use of app. Bug in AppKit?

    I'm currently testing a new version of an app of mine on OSX 10.5 An user reported some weird crashes during use of the application, sadly not reproducible by me. At first sight it seems to happen randomly, once he had the crash while opening an NSOpenPanel and once during focusing an NSTextField and once during NSView switch in a parent view. If you have any idea which area I should look at it would be greatly appreciated! I'm completely lost here.   • Display custom error page when file upload exceeds allowed size in ASP.NET MVC2

    Hello! My main issue is that I want to display an custom error page when an uploaded file exceeds allowed size (maxRequestLength in web.config). When the big file is uploaded an HttpException is thrown before my upload action method in the controller is invoked. This is expected. I have tried to catch the exception in a custom attribute and also to override OnException in the controller. Why isnt it possible to catch the exception in either the attribute or the OnException method? Its possible though to catch the exception in Application_Error in global.asax but neither Response.Redirect nor Server.Transfer works for redirecting to the custom error page. Server.Transfer gives the "failed to process child request" error and response.redirect gives the "Http headers already sent" error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Marcus
