  • Passing a bool condition to method which I can invoke when I need

    - by dotnetdev
    Hi, I need to pass in a predicate which I can invoke whenever I want (just like a delegate). I am trying to do something like this (I thought Predicate delegate would meet my needs): MyMethod(Predicate,string pred); Called like: MyMethod(s = s.Length 5); I want to write the condition inline BUT invoke it when I want, just like a delegate. How could I do this? Thanks

  • Args error in main method for client-server program

    - by socket
    Hi I have a client and server program, all the coding is done and compiles, the client has a GUI and the server is command line. The program uses sockets. But when I run the client to connect to the server it keeps coming with the error message: "Usage: TodoClient []", rather than connecting to the server and starting up. This is where the problem lies: public static void main(String[] args) { TodoClient client; if (args.length > 2 || args.length == 0) { System.err.println("Usage: TodoClient <host> [<port>]"); } else if (args.length == 1) { client = new TodoClient(args[0], DEFAULT_PORT); } else { client = new TodoClient(args[0], Integer.parseInt(args[1])); } } Thank You

  • Dynamically generating method names in rails

    - by badnaam
    I need to generate links in my views using the url helpers such as user_path(@user), the catch is, in some cases I don't know what model I am creating this link for i.e. whether it is a user or a store or someting else I would like to be able to determine this on the fly and call the appropriate view helper, currently I am doing the following, but I am wondering if there is a drier way of doing it. if object.class == "Store" store_path(object) elsif object.class == "User" user_path(object) ...etc

  • implict type cast in generic method

    - by bitbonk
    why do I get a compiler error in the following code stating: Cannot implicty convert type SpecialNode to T even though T must derive from NodeBase as I defined in the where clause and even though SpecialNode actually derived from NodeBase? public static T GetNode<T>() where T : NodeBase { if (typeof(T) == typeof(SpecialNode)) { return ThisStaticClass.MySpecialNode; // <-- compiler error } if (typeof(T) == typeof(OtherSpecialNode)) { return ThisStaticClass.MyOtherSpecialNode; // <-- compiler error } ... return default(T); }

  • Can I use a method as a lambda?

    - by NewAlexandria
    I have an interface the defines a group of conditions. it is one of several such interfaces that will live with other models. These conditions will be called by a message queue handler to determine completeness of an alert. All the alert calls will be the same, and so I seek to DRY up the enqueue calls a bit, by abstracting the the conditions into their own methods (i question if methods is the right technique). I think that by doing this I will be able to test each of these conditions. class Loan module AlertTriggers def self.included(base) base.extend LifecycleScopeEnqueues # this isn't right Loan::AlertTriggers::LifecycleScopeEnqueues.instance_method.each do |cond| class << self def self.cond ::AlertHandler.enqueue_alerts( {:trigger => Loan.new}, cond ) end end end end end module LifecycleScopeEnqueues def student_awaiting_cosigner lambda { |interval, send_limit, excluding| excluding ||= '' Loan.awaiting_cosigner. where('loans.id not in (?)', excluding.map(&:id) ). joins(:petitions). where('petitions.updated_at > ?', interval.days.ago). where('petitions.updated_at <= ?', send_limit.days.ago) } end end I've considered alternatives, where each of these methods act like a scope. Down that road, I'm not sure how to have AlertHandler be the source of interval, send_limit, and excluding, which it passes to the block/proc when calling it.

  • Issue in alternate Row color using each() method of JQuery

    - by user1323981
    I have a table as under <table > <tr> <th scope="col">EmpId</th><th scope="col">EmpName</th> </tr> <tr> <td>1</td><td>ABC</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2</td><td>DEF</td> </tr> </table> I want to set the alternate row color of only the "td" elements of the table and not "th" by using only each() function. I have tried with <style type="text/css"> tr.even { background-color: green; } tr.odd { background-color: yellow; } </style> $(document).ready(function () { $('table > tbody').each(function () { $('tr:odd', this).addClass('odd').removeClass('even'); $('tr:even', this).addClass('even').removeClass('odd'); }); }); Though this works but it accepts also "th" element. How to avoid that? Please help Thanks

    - by vBx
    class Parent { private void method1() { System.out.println("Parent's method1()"); } public void method2() { System.out.println("Parent's method2()"); method1(); } } class Child extends Parent { public void method1() { System.out.println("Child's method1()"); } } class test { public static void main(String args[]) { Parent p = new Child(); p.method2(); } } I'm confuse why does in Parent::method2() when invoking method1() it will cal Parents method1() and not Childs method1 ? I see that this happens only when method1() is private? Can someone explain me why ? Thanks you.

  • Returning a struct from a class method

    - by tree
    I have a header file that looks something like the following: class Model { private: struct coord { int x; int y; } xy; public: .... coord get() const { return xy; } }; And in yet another file (assume ModelObject exists): struct c { int x; int y; void operator = (c &rhs) { x = rhs.x; y = rhs.y; }; } xy; xy = ModelObject->get(); The compiler throws an error that says there is no known covnersion from coord to c. I believe it is because it doesn't know about coord type because it is declared inside of a class header. I can get around that by declaring the struct outside of the class, but I was wondering if it is possible to do the way I am, or is this generally considered bad practice
