  • Screen dims & freezes me out

    New to Ubuntu 12.04 (used since 8th April). I have recently been using Firefox for an online course and while working on this virtual PC site, the screen dims and I am frozen out of interacting with my desktop. (I cannot switch to any other tabs in Firefox). Power setting set to suspend after 30 mins. The desktop is connected to the mains. Moving the cursor around appears to have no effect. This is making the course difficult to follow so any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

    I am working with a web application, using TFS. Every time I build the site it takes an unproductivly long time to start up again. I would like to have a second mapping of the site on my c drive, where I would only get latest and build once a day, so this version would always be fast. So this got me thinking, "back in the day" kids who thought they were hackers but just ran other peoples scripts they had found, were known as Script Kiddies. Do we have a term for these yet?

    So I spent several hours in rage, figuring out why isn't my code writing to the /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm correctly. The problem is that it doesn't return anything if the value is wrong. And finally I noticed this small 5 between the year and the day. Why isn't it counting days and years from zero for consistency? For comparison: QCalendarWidget counts month from 1 to 12 (docs) So GtkCalendar... F**k You!
