But the essence of the error I'm getting is this: test_2.scala:32: error: type mismatch; found : (A, A) = Unit required: Function2 $amount.foreach( (k:A,v:A) = { How is this error conceivably possible? Isn't (A, A) => Unit always a subtype of Function2 regardless of what else might be going on in the code?

• Make a snapshot of a live mySQL database with myISAM & innoDB tables without locking

  We have a live database in production where we are running out of space on the server. So I would like to transfer to a new server without any downtime (or as little downtime as possible). In general, I would also like to have a hot failover copy of the database available. I would like to use replication to get all of the data copied to the new machine, and then at some point flip a switch and have that new machine become the master (normal failover scenario). My problem is that I am not sure how to initialize replication without locking the db to make the initial snapshot I will use? Is there any way to do this? I know I could do it using single-transaction if I was using innoDB, but very unfortunately we have some myISAM tables in there (in fact the largest 150GB table is myISAM and I want to switch it to InnoDB but I can't do it until I have more space & a hot copy to switch to). Any ideas? Is there some way to make such a snapshot? Or is there alternatively a way to get replication to "catch up" without an snapshot for initialization?

  Am facing a bit of trouble getting the 'combined fragment' to sit above an activation (in a sequence diagram). On adding a 'combined fragment' (loop/alt/opt etc) to a section of the sequence diagram, the label and the guard condition appear 'under' the activation block and hence is obscured. • Installing Tomcat on CentOS 5

  Disclaimer: I am not a server admin, I am a windows user that has lead a life of sinful installation wizards and drag and drop I'm attempting to install Tomcat on CentOS 5 hosted by a MediaTemple dedicated virtual server. I basically followed this guide: Installed jpackage and configured the yum.repo.d jpackage file to set enabled=1 Used yum to install java (yum install java) Downloaded the binary distribution of tomcat with "wget http://archive.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-6/v6.0.14/bin/apache-tomcat-6.0.14.tar.gz" set JAVA_HOME to point at the jdk location I found with "export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0/" I gunzip/untar the Tomcat files and run ./startup.sh to start the Tomcat server. That is supposed to put the Tomcat server at myserver.com:8080 - however, I just get a could not contact host error when I try to browse to it (or when I try 'curl localhost:8080' from SSH) After I type ./startup.sh, here is the console output: [root@myserver bin]# ./startup.sh Using CATALINA_BASE: /root/apache-tomcat-6.0.14 Using CATALINA_HOME: /root/apache-tomcat-6.0.14 Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /root/apache-tomcat-6.0.14/temp Using JRE_HOME: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0/ [root@myserver bin]# Is there a step I have missed here?   I am using PBE encryption to encrypt and decrypt some text on an Android application but I get the BadPaddingException: with the "pad block corrupted" message when I use the wrong private key to decrypt the text. My question, since I am not well versed with encryption in Java, is if this is the normal behavior of the encryption API, because I need to do some logic in the case when the wrong key is entered, but I do not know the private key, nor do I store it anywhere (storing just the encrypted and decrypted check text). • Making footer image stick to bottom of web browser or page

  Hello, I know this has been asked alot of times in the past but for the life of me I can't seem to get any of the other solutions to work. What I'm trying to do is to get the footer (which is an image that repeats across the width of the page) to stick to the bottom of the browser when there isn't enough content to naturally push it to the bottom of the page and when there IS enough content to push it to the bottom it does just that. An example is the one at http://www.themaninblue.com/experiment/footerStickAlt/good_example_short.htm which does exactly what I want but I can't get to work either. The code that I've currently got implemented makes the footer stick to a certain section of the page with text going under it. You can see it at sourcectrl.co.uk but its not much to look at. • When would you prefer to declare an exception rather than handling it in Java?

  I know we can declare the exception for our method if we want it to be handled by the calling method. This will even allow us to do stuff like write to the OutputStream without wrapping the code in try/catch block if the enclosing method throws IOException. My question is: Can anyone provide an instance where this is usually done where you'd like the super class to handle the exception instead of the current method?
