  • Centos mysql version is 5.5 however PHPmyadmin still says version 5.1

    - by Marc Rasmussen
When i run the following in my console: [root@****~]# mysql -u root -p -e 'SELECT VERSION();' Enter password: +-----------+ | VERSION() | +-----------+ | 5.5.39 | +-----------+ Which should be the correct version. However when i enter my PHPMYADMIN on my server it has the following specs: Server: Localhost via UNIX socket Program: MySQL Programversion: 5.1.73 - Source distribution So which version is the correct one and how do i make sure that the database is running on 5.5? Note I have already restarted sql several times without any changes

  • MySQL database Int overflow and can't login in.

    - by Ryan SMith
I have a MySQL database on my server and I"m pretty sure it's an int over flow on one table with an auto_increment field that's crashing it. I can delete the table, it's not very important, but I can't get into the server. Is there anyway to delete that database from the file system or without logging into MySQL? HELP! THE WORLD IS ENDING!

  • javascript doesn't seem to be able to post form data (nginx server w/ php-fpm)

    - by Jones
    So the situation is like so: I have a nginx server with php-fpm installed. All is well and the site scripts and all work perfectly. I am able to use html to POST form data and it works just fine. However, There seems to be be some correlation between javascript, the POST protocol and nothing happening. I cant seem to determine the issue. Example: I have a user login widget that uses javascript on submit the fields and POST the data to a backend auth script which returns a server message that then populates the login box saying something like "Login Successful" followed by reloading the page to properly enable content. Problem is, nothing happens when you hit submit. I do know the setup works because i had it working on apache before migrating. Also if it makes any difference, the server is a Amazon EC2 instance using the Amazon AMI. I really dont know where to start looking on this one, but below is my default.conf for the server: upstream backend_get { server 127.0.0.1:80 weight=1; } upstream backend_post { server 127.0.0.1:80 weight=1; } #Main website url server { listen 80; server_name server.com; #charset koi8-r; access_log logs/host.access.log main; error_log logs/host.error.log; location / { root /usr/share/nginx/html; index index.php index.html index.htm; if ($request_method = POST) { proxy_pass http://backend_post; break; } } location ~ \.php$ { #fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php-fpm/php-fpm.sock; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } }

  • load balancing two web servers each on two different isp's?

    - by Scott
I have two ISP's that provide me hosting via apache / php / mysql. I am running drupal on them. On occasion the mysql server will go away (crash), so I was hoping to find a reasonable way to have a fail over, if server A SQL is down, all traffic is sent to server B. I know traditionally this is handled in DNS where a second alternate ip is given if there is a problem - or similar. But I do not have control over the isp, other than I can run php, perl and the usual apache stuff. Also, I have static ip's on each isp, and I can create dns entries (A/CNAME/TXT). So, I was hoping there might be a way for me to have a script that checks if drupal has a problem, and if so, somehow alter dns, or ? Or, any other ideas? (other than spending lots more $ on a better isp)

  • Clustering with Vsphere and Apache load balacing

    - by Anonymous2011
I was looking at Vsphere to automatically load balance my apache web servers, and mysql servers but will this actually do the job? I know it says it does auto load balancing but not actually sure it quite means what I want to achieve. Is there an easier way to set up a php-apache and mysql cluster within virtual machines? Or are there any guides to clustering? (I have tried googling without much luck) Any help towards understanding/setting up clustering and load balancing within virtual machines appreciated.

  • Determine Configured Location of MySQL's data directory OR all loaded *.cfn Locations

    - by alanstorm
I'm not a sys-admin, but sometimes I play one at work. I've inherited a virtual server that had MySQL installed from source. I'm gathering as much information about the install as I can (original people who installed it are, of course, not a resource). How can I find The default/current location of the MySQL binary files (often stored in a directory named data?) Any default or custom loaded cnf files? Looking for solutions that are a bit more sophisticated than a find / -iname '*.cnf' :)

  • Can't get php+sqlite working

    - by facha
Hi, everyone I'm struggling all morning to make php work with an sqlite database. Here is a piece of php code that I try to execute: #less /var/www/html/test.php <?php $db=new PDO("sqlite:/var/www/test.sql"); $sql = "insert into test (login, pass) values ('login','pass');"; $db->exec($sql); ?> Here is how I've done tests: # sqlite3 /var/www/test.sql sqlite> create table test (login varchar, pass varchar); #chown apache:apache /var/www/test.sql #chmod 644 /var/www/test.sql Here is the stuff that drives me mad: When I execute from command line: #php test.php everything goes well. Sql is being executed and I can see a new row appear in the database. When I execute the same script from a browser - sql is not being executed. I don't get a new row in the database. There are no errors in the apache log file. Please, help

  • any security tips for my first server? (complete beginner)

    - by Haroldo
I'm paying for a VPS and hoping to launch my first website on it in the next few days. I'm worried there might be some glaringly obvious security holes in the standard setup, so I'm keen to get some tips About the only thing i know is turn off error reporting in PHP and create users/privilages for MySQL... any more stuff along those lines? I'm using: cpanel and WHM centos 5 php mysql google apps as mail server (so maybe i should disable built in mailer server somehow?!!) This is my first post of Server Fault (i use stack overflow alot), I hope i'm posting this in the right place, with the right tags - please feel free to edit if i'm wrong. Thanks guys!

  • how do I allow mysql connections through selinux

    - by xivix
I'd like to for once leave selinux running on a server for the alleged increased security. I usually disable selinux to get anything to work. How do I tell selinux to allow mysql connections? The most documentation I've found is this line from mysql.com: If you are running under Linux and Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) is enabled, make sure you have disabled SELinux protection for the mysqld process. wow ... that's really helpful.

  • Recieving a 500 Internal Server error after login success?

    - by Jeremy Quick
I created my first member login form which takes the typical username and password and then sends it to the code below: checklogin.php: mysql_connect($db_host, $db_username, $db_password) or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($db_database) or die(mysql_error()); $username=$_POST['username']; $password=$_POST['password']; $username = stripslashes($username); $password = stripslashes($password); $username = mysql_real_escape_string($username); $password = mysql_real_escape_string($password); $sql="SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='$username' and password='$password'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); $count=mysql_num_rows($result); if($count == 1) //ERROR APPEARS TO TAKE PLACE HERE { session_start(); $_SESSION['username'] = $username; $_SESSION['password'] = $password; header('login_success.php'); } else { header("location:login_fail.php"); } If I type in the wrong information everything works properly so I know the error appears to be taking effect in the marked if statement. I have been searching the internet now looking for solutions but none seem to match mine or I am overlooking them. I've made a few changes which brought me to this point, before I was receiving deprecation warnings. Also, I have checked the logs and they are empty of errors relating to this.

  • Installing mysql-server with python ssh connection

    - by mrbox
I'm writing a script in Python, which is connecting to server via ssh, then installing some packages. • Access denied for user 'diduser'@'localhost' to database 'diddata' (1044, 42000)

    - by Arlen Beiler
I am trying to setup a MySQL server and when I went to create a second user it wouldn't give it permissions for the database. I can connect fine as long as I don't specify a database. Access denied for user 'user'@'localhost' to database 'diddata' The connection details are: { 'host' : 'localhost', 'user' : 'user', 'password' : 'password' , 'database': 'diddata' }; And to create the DB and table I did: CREATE DATABASE IF NOT exists diddata; CREATE USER 'user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; GRANT ALL ON user.* TO 'user'@'localhost'; Note that I've changed the username and password in this question. I've already checked the privileges in MySQL workbench and they are there.

  • MySQL for SQL Server DBAs

    - by SQL3D
I've been tasked with taking over the administration of a MySQL installation (running on Red Hat Linux) that will become fairly critical to our business in the near future. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some resources in regards to administering MySQL for DBAs already experienced with other relational database (SQL Server and some Oracle in my case). Specifically I'm looking for information around disaster recovery as well as high availability to start with, but I do want to get well rounded with the entire system. Thanks in advance, Dan

  • creation of accounts for each users in mysql / phpmyadmin

    - by user1666411
I am planning to create mysql accounts for each of my web devs and build their own databases. I need these devs to have accounts to access their own phpmyadmin where they can manipulate their own sets of databases. I am kind of new to web services deployment, so should this setup be configured in phpmyadmin or in mysql? Will this kind of deployment need web management like cpanel? I hope you can enlighten me with this.

  • Upgrading Fedora to Current Version - Dependent Applications Concerns

    - by nicorellius
Is it possible to upgrade to Fedora 11 and still keep the server functional (it's running Fedora Core release 6 now, with MySQL 5.0, PHP 5.1 and Apache 2.2)? I have a Customer Relationship Management system on there and it is required on a daily basis. I am trying to figure out if I should upgrade (and whether that will cause huge problems) or if I should start over with a new OS (like Ubuntu) and install the CRM fresh, with updated version of MySQL, PHP, Apache, etc. I ask because I am not really the sysadmin, but have but put in charge of this server.

  • please take a look at my server's ram usage

    - by user66779
Hi, i am a noob with servers. I have a centos5.5 vps with 512mb ram. My goal is to have it host just one magento store. I've installed Magento on the server without any control panel, by just installing lamp myself and whatever php extensions were necessary to get Magento to install. As soon as i visit my magento store, suddenly the ram on the vps is almost completely used, with only about 100mb left. Please see this screenshot of htop taken after just myself visited the website. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1944/screenouv.png As you can see there's only around 100mb left. Is that normal? I'm wondering if i might have done something stupid with the server that makes it very resource hungry. I installed apache from the centos base repo, php version 5.3 from the ius repository and mysql 5.1 also from ius repo. I haven't changed any of the default config files for any of these except to make memory_minimum 256 in php.ini. Is there anything i can do to make more ram free? I'm clueless but i see each Apache daemon is using 8% of available ram, and AFAIK each visitor needs one Apache daemon. So i would run out of ram with just a handful of visitors. Thanks for your advice.

  • MySQL not respond when overheaded

    - by Michal Gow
I have few Drupal 6 websites on webhosting, which causes this strange problem: some tables, especially Cache and Watchdog, tend to overhead, when overhead is bigger than some amount of kB, MySQL server is refusing connection to given Drupal database or connection is broken during query execution, Optimizing table (just overheaded rows) in phpMyAdmin is putting all back to normal. But - until database is optimized, site is showing just MySQL errors, which is ugly... Where is a problem? Thank you for any hints I could pass back to the hosting admins!
