I choose this option in network profile, turn it off, press save settings, and all seems ok. But when I open this network profile again, it shows that this option is on.
WTH?
Hello.
Does anyone know a good (and maybe free) usenet client that would allow me to save all the discussions from one (or more) groups to text files? Preferably each post to its own text file.
I need this to run some data mining on those discussions.
Thanks :)
We are working in a test environment and need to monitor the audio quality of an rtp stream that is being captured using tshark.
Right now we are able to capture the audio and access the file through wireshark, but we would like to find a way to save the audio to a .wav file (or similar) via the command line.
Does anyone know of a tool that can do this?
How much battery would leaving my laptop at "sleep" mode consume? is the consumption low enough so that it would be safe to leave the laptop sleeping at nights regularily and using it tommorow?
What's the recommended period of time for which I should not turn it off, but let it sleep. (for example, if I'll use the computer in a minute - turning it off instead of making it to sleep will definitely not save battery due to the overhead of turning your computer on and off).
Hi,
I've created a form in a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
When empy, I want to use it as a template which the user opens, fills in, and saves as a copy to preserve the blank state of the template.
Here's the trick : I found both ways to
make the document read only - the user can't save the form value, only print them
make the document writeable, but in this case the document acting as a template can be modified too.
Any ideas? Thanks.
My cable TV company gives me a Cisco Explorer 8640HDC DVR box that can record shows from TV. I know that it contains a hard drive to save the shows on. What format and file system are used to store the videos on the hard drive? I have looked at the documentation for this DVR box and there is no technical information about the manner in which recordings are stored. Is it possible to connect the hard drive to a computer and extract the recordings from it?
We have a windows 2003 AD and are using Folder redirection to redirect the users My Documents to a share. Is there a way to save certain filetypes (*.mp3, *.avi) or folders (My Music, My Pictures) on the user's hard disk instead of saving on the netwerk share?
I'm aware of the GPO setting 'Exclude directories in roaming profile' but I'm not sure if that will do what I want (we're using redirected folders)
I'm trying to install SQL Compact 3.5 SP2 after I've installed SQL 2012 RC0, on a x64 Windows 7.
The x86 installer goes through fine.
The x64 installer fails, with the error:
"Error 25543.Failed to save changes to XML file c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\CONFIG\machine.config, system error: -2147024864"
Note the \CONFIG (double backslash) where there should be a single backslash... any ideas why this is happening and how to solve it?
I have some applications that I'd like to stay with my user forever. I've invested a lot of time in customizing them, and doing it from the start would be rather annoying. To that end, I'm thinking about moving them inside my Users folder, as it is the most redundantly-backed up directory on my computer.
Are there any concerns associated with running software inside the Users directory, save for updating absolute paths? File permissions and security come to mind.
The icons of my folders in Windows 8 have changed automatically !
Now it is similar to that of the Unknown File Type icon.
My C: drive icon and some icons in the Explorer-Home menu had also changed, but they became normal after a restart. But the folder icons (Medium Size) don't change. This is also seen in the "Save Dialog"-box. Please help, Thanks in advance...

I am looking for additional monitor, I'm trying to save some money by looking on used and refurbished ones.
Used monitors are usually noticeably cheaper, but it is quite difficult to find something close to the desired model. Their condition also vary significantly.
Refurbished ones eliminate these problems for some additional money. Is there anything to look out for with refurbished monitors? Do many of the have lots of broken pixels etc?
I have an iPad app that shows some good picture, and I want to transfer some pictures to the PC so I can send them by email to other people. Is there a way to capture the screen and save it as PNG or JPG?
Otherwise, is the only way to install an iPad SDK (software development kit) so that you have a virtual iPad on the computer and run the app, and then use screen capture program on the PC to do the capture?
I've tried disabling "Save AutoRecover information" option, but to no avail. The window "Excel has recovered the following files" still pops up at the start.
Any other ideas?
UPD Auto-recover window is shown each start after I terminate Excel during my debug session.
All file entries Excel shows in the auto-recover window are dated by year 1601. I checked Excel auto-recover folder, and there is no any real file there.
For administrative purposes, I sometimes need to log in as another user to diagnose a problem with their account. I'd like to be able to do this without having to change their password so I don't have to keep bothering them. Under Unix, I can just save the encrypted password from the passwd file, change the password, then edit the old encrypted password back into the passwd file. Is there a way of doing something similar in AD?
If both parties in a call are in the same LAN, does the SIP/Skype call voice packets travel in and out through the internet?
How to avoid it? I want to save bandwidth and improve call quality.
I have a new Macbook, don't know the OS, but just got it--it's the cheaper model. I saved a lot of photos on iPhoto and can't figure out how to burn a CD. Tried the "share" function and when I choose a location to save the photos and hit burn, get an error message that says can't create in that location. Needs to be run on a pc or photo processing place.
It seems like the steps right now are:
Shoot movie
sync iPhone with Mac via iTunes
Open iPhoto
Import photos from iPhone into iPhoto
Open iMovie (or retart if it was already running)
On startup, iMovie detects videos in iPhoto and imports them.
Yikes. Is there an easier way? It's a bit odd that the videos are handled as photos, in the first place.
And no, I'm not jailbreaking my iPhone simply to save me a few of these steps.
I am trying to get a simple script to run automatically at startup. A friend told me to do this but it did not work. Could someone take a look to see what it is missing?
*(Also I am brand new to linux, so this is pretty foreign to me)
Here is what I was told to do:
In terminal
sudo nano /etc/init.d/obabp.sh
Then enter this text:
#!/bin/bash
sudo python /home/pi/gits/RPi-OBABP/src/obabp.py
save file and then
$ sudo chmod +x /etc/init.d/obabp.sh
$ sudo shutdown -r now
I'm testing windows 8 RP. Installed tens of apps from market. What I wanna know is, is there any way to save (or maybe sync with windows live account) installed app list, and install these saved applications in future - RTM version of OS?
I mean, somehing like on Apples' devices - icloud features function that I'm talking about. You can install apps on iPhone and sync with iCloud account. Then you can re-install these apps on another device, which signed in with your login into icloud.
Hi, I'm using Firefox on my netbook, and I want to save as many vertical pixels as possible without turning to full-screen mode. Right now, the only thing in my way is the fact that the tab bar can't be moved like the navigation bar or the bookmarks toolbar. I'm looking for a Firefox add-on that will let me place the tab bar side-by-side with the other bars.
Is there anything like that? (the lighter the better)
I'm reinstalling a Windows 7 PC and want backup all the system, application and users data to latter decide what data can be useful. What directories I must backup? I will format the PC and all importante data must be saved. I have doubts particularly about C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData and how save it using a Ubuntu live CD in case I don't have access to the Windows 7 PC. AppData have a lot of syslink inside!
I'm trying to find away to create an automator action that puts photos into iPhoto but also adds the hidden tag to them. I've started with the folder action template because I'd like to save the files there and have automator kick off a series of steps that ends with the original image being hidden once I've had the enhancement, re-size, etc steps fire off. The only step I can't figure out is applying the hidden image attribute.
