  • javascript compare two DOM trees

    - by Paul
I want to compare the change of a DOM node after a user event is fired on it; but I don't know on which element a user would fire, so my idea is to (1) save the DOM tree before an event and (2) compare the saved tree with the updated DOM tree when an event is fired. My question are (1) is there any better way? and (2) if there is no other way, what would be the fast algorithm to compare two DOM trees?

  • How to create a "Clustergram" plot ? (in R)

    - by Tal Galili
Hi all, I came across this interesting website, with an idea of a way to visualize a clustering algorithm called "Clustergram": I am not sure how useful this really is, but in order to play with it I would like to reproduce it with R, but am not sure how to go about doing it. How would you create a line for each item so it would stay consistent throughout the different number of clusters? Here is an example code/data to play with for potential answer: hc <- hclust(dist(USArrests), "ave") plot(hc)

  • Classification of relationships in words?

    - by C.
Hi, I'm not sure whats the best algorithm to use for the classification of relationships in words. For example in the case of a sentence such as "The yellow sun" there is a relationship between yellow and sun. THe machine learning techniques I have considered so far are Baynesian Statistics, Rough Sets, Fuzzy Logic, Hidden markov model and Artificial Neural Networks. Any suggestions please? thank you :)

  • Signal processing or algorithmic programming for a PLC

    - by james singen smythe
I have an application that takes voltages and temperatures as analog inputs and does some processing using an algorithm which involves signal processing such as low-pass filtering, exponential smoothing, and other steps which might typically be done in a high-level programming language such as C or C++. I'm curious how I could perform these same steps using a PLC, and in particular, the Allen-Bradley Control-Logix system? It seems to me that the instruction set with ladder logic is too limited for this. Could I perform this using structured text?

  • SQL Server 2008 Spatial Clustering

    - by illvm
I am trying to group points of geospatial data based on density and relative distance. Is there a way that this can be done in SQL Server 2008 using the spatial features or would it be better to translate the data into graph data and use a graph clustering algorithm?

  • Big numbers in C

    - by teehoo
I need help working with very big numbers. According to Windows calc, the exponent 174^55 = 1.6990597648061509725749329578093e+123. How would I store this using C (c99 standard). int main(){ long long int x = 174^55; //result is 153 printf("%lld\n", x); } For those curious, it is for a school project where we are implementing the RSA cryptographic algorithm, which deals with exponentiating large numbers with large powers for encryption/decryption.

  • Basic Recursion, Check Balanced Parenthesis

    - by pws5068
Greetings all, I've written software in the past that uses a stack to check for balanced equations, but now I'm asked to write a similar algorithm recursively to check for properly nested brackets and parenthesis. Good examples: () [] () ([]()[]) Bad examples: ( (] ([)] Suppose my function is called: isBalanced. Should each pass evaluate a smaller substring (until reaching a base case of 2 left)? Or, should I always evaluate the full string and move indices inward?

  • Standard way to hash an RSA key?

    - by Adam J.R. Erickson
What's the algorithm for creating hash (sha-1 or MD5) of an RSA public key? Is there a standard way to do this? Hash just the modulus, string addition of both and then take a hash? Is SHA-1 or MD5 usually used? I want to use it to ensure that I got the right key (have the sender send a hash, and I calculate it myself), and log said hash so I always know which exact key I used when I encrypt the payload.

  • Cycles/byte calculations

    - by matskn
Hi ! In Crypto communities it is common to measure algorithm performance in cycles/byte. My question is, which parameters in the CPU architecture are affecting this number? Except the clockspeed ofcourse :)

  • MD5 hash with salt for keeping password in DB in C#

    - by abatishchev
    Could you please advise me some easy algorithm for hashing user password by MD5, but with salt for increasing reliability. Now I have this one: private static string GenerateHash(string value) { var data = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(value); data = System.Security.Cryptography.MD5.Create().ComputeHash(data); return Convert.ToBase64String(data); }

  • nearest neighbor - k-d tree - wikipedia proof.

    - by user123930
On the wikipedia entry for k-d trees, an algorithm is presented for doing a nearest neighbor search on a k-d tree. What I don't understand is the explanation of step 3.2. How do you know there isn't a closer point just because the difference between the splitting coordinate of the search point and the current node is greater than the difference between the splitting coordinate of the search point and the current best?

  • Line smoothing in Cocoa Touch

    - by Sam Kaplan
How would I smooth a line (UIBeizerPath) or a set of points? Right now it draws it jagged. I read about spline interpolation, could anyone point me to an implementation of this in cocoa or C or give me an alternate line smoothing algorithm.

  • Deterministic Annealing Code

    - by wade
I would like to find an open source example of a code for deterministic annealing. It can be in almost any language: C, C++, MatLab/Octave, Fortran. I have already found a MatLab code for simulated annealing, so MatLab would be best. Here is a paper that describes the algorithm: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fvandamteaching.googlepages.com%2FABriefIntroductionToDeterministicAnn.pdf&ei=DiLiS8qZFI7AMozB1JED&usg=AFQjCNHLps7HRWXLNN5rAX5aJ5BsJbcHuQ&sig2=YSokUTOs0UszAFZ9TDiJgQ

  • Provable planarity of flowcharts

    - by Nikolaos Kavvadias
Hi all I have a question: is there any reference (e.g. paper) with a proof of the planarity of flowchart layouts? Can anyone suggest an algorithm for generating flowchart (planar) layouts? I know that there are some code-to-flowchart tools out there, but i'm unaware of their internals. Thanks in advance -kavi

What is the best we can do with run length encoding. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run-length_encoding Page suggests the time complexity is O(m*n) where m is the number of time the number repeats .. Is the a more efficient algorithm to do RLE ??

  • Is EmguCV`s EigenObjectRecognizer uses EigenFace?

    - by Meko
Hi. I want to learn that is EmguCVs EigenObjectRecognizers has Recognize() method. But I could not found any information that is using which algorithm.I used it in my thesis and I need to know which technique is using that method.I know it uses Eigen Vector and Eigen Values but I am not sure how it uses it. Is any one know could point me ? Thanks.
