• fail2ban custom action to permanent ban IPs from China

  When a IP address gets banned how can I check if the banned IP address is from China. If yes, then add it to the permanent ban list. I have found this nice guide which write the banned IP to file. Reason: I am getting a lot of brute force attacks from China daily, thankfully fail2ban is helping restrict this although they appear to be getting worse and they are just changing their IP Address.   Hi., I have an existing wizard template created for VC++ from year back, ported to VS2008. It uses the custom wizard jscript/html templating system and DTE object. I've used this successfully for years, but now I want to create an entry for a standard C# project, I see there's no way to customise the C# project settings - the methods are for VC++ only. Is there something closely related to this for C# projects (or do I have to learn yet another way of creating a wizard for .net apps?)

• object won't die (still references to it that I can't find)

  I'm using parallel-python and start a new job server in a function. after the functions ends it still exists even though I didn't return it out of the function (I used weakref to test this). I guess there's still some references to this object somewhere. My two theories: It starts threads and it logs to root logger. My questions: can I somehow findout in which namespace there is still a reference to this object. I have the weakref reference. Does anyone know how to detach a logger?   I am using simple modal dialog by Eric Martin. And have defined a function e.g function confirm(message, options) {.... } To customize all confirm dialogs. Its working nicely accross all the browsers.Except when I enable Selenium IDE ,my custom confirm dialog function fails to capture "options" parameters and firefox console echos like this: options is undefined callback=options.callback; Error When Selenium IDE is visible Normal Behaviour When Selenium IDE is closed Please help me sort out this issue so I should able to run selenium tests.

• Value object getter

  Hi, I've got a value object, which stores info for example amount. The getAmount() getter returns amount in cents. However in various places, we need to get amount in dollar. There are 2 approaches I can think of: write a convert method and place it in a utility class. add a getAmountInDollar() getter in the value object. I prefer the second approach. What do you think? What are pros and cons of both approaches?

• Indexing Service: getting empty columns on custom properties

  I'm following this example: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2005/12/getting-started-with-indexing-service.html However, the conversion to dataset shows empty columns for my custom properties. If I use path or filename for the columns I get data back. I have set the properties to be cached, have tried both levels, and have rescanned full. I've tried this example on my desktop (windows vista 32bit) and on a Windows 2008 R2 server with the same results.

  I have a table which has approximately sixty tables, and other tables are added constantly. Each table is a part of a schema. A such quantity of tables makes it difficult to use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008. For example, I must scroll up in object explorer to access database related functions, or scroll down each time I need to access Views or Security features. Is it possible to group several tables to be able to expand or collapse them in Object Explorer? Maybe a folder may be displayed for each schema, letting collapse the folders I don't need to use?

  Anyone have any luck using Vimeo's moogaloop player? I'm wanting to use Vimeo's supposed API functions to create custom buttons to control the Vimeo player on my site.   I have a single xml file and every new thread of the program (BHO) is using the same Tinyxml file. every time a new window is open in the program, it runs this code: const char * xmlFileName = "C:\\browsarityXml.xml"; TiXmlDocument doc(xmlFileName); doc.LoadFile(); //some new lines in the xml.. and than save: doc.SaveFile(xmlFileName); The problem is that after the first window is adding new data to the xml and saves it, the next window can't add to it. although the next one can read the data in the xml, it can't write to it. I thought about two possibilities to make it work, but I don't know how to implement them: Destroy the doc object when I'm done with it. Some function in Tinyxml library to unload the file. Any help or better understanding of the problem will be great. Thanks.

Thus, the global object SomeGlobalObject would have no problem to use the global array of PODs upon its construction. The problem is that in real life, nothing is so simple. On Visual C++ 2008 (I did not test on other compilers), upon execution myArrayOfPodis not initialized, even ifmyArrayOfVoid` is initialized. So my questions is: Are C++ compilers not supposed to initialize global PODs (including POD structures) at compilation time ? Note that I know global variable are evil, and I know that one can't be sure of the order of creation of global variables declared in different compilation units. The problem here is really the POD C-like initialization which seems to call a constructor (the default, compiler-generated one?). And to make everyone happy: This is on debug. On release, the global array of PODs is correctly initialized.

Considering the fact that a window cannot be made alpha blended over another window unless you take a snap of the background, I had to resort to OpenGL. I have few options for this: (1) To show an object on the WinCE window without showing the OpenGL ES window. Is it possible to do this ??   I'm using Rails to try and add an action for an object both defined for my app on the open graph. I am using an :after_filter in my controller to call the following after session#create: @graph.put_connections('me', 'workkout:complete', :session => url_for([@plan, @session])) I am getting the following back from Facebook: {"error":{"type":"Exception","message":"Could not retrieve data from URL.","code":1660002}} I have checked that the correct URL is passed to put_connections, and when I visit this URL using Facebook's Lint tool, everything is correct. I can't understand why this isn't working, my only thought is that Facebook is hitting the URL moments before rails has generated the object? - not sure if that's even possible though. Can anyone shed any light on this?

  When viewing a jpg or mp3 in Windows Explorer, the bottom pane shows metadata from the media file. Furthermore, for video and picture, the icon is shown as a preview of the media. Is there a way to add this kind of functionality to windows for custom file types that aren't supported by default in windows? Is there a certain sort of plugin or extension that must be written?   I'm working on a data import feature and I've been able to load an excel sheet into a DataTable using Ado.NET with the MSJet db engine. I created a simple one-to-one mapping dialog, in which the user drags column headings from their spreadsheet to a list of object properties. What's stumping me is how to turn each DataRow into a business object. Is there an easy way to do this? If there is a better way than using a DataTable as a middleman I'm open to suggestion? I use NHibernate extensively through out the rest of my program but I couldn't find any attempts to map to an excel spreadsheet. I went with a DataTable because the technique was well documented.

  Hi, I'm loading opengl 3d objects over the iphone camera view. When opengl view is loaded it's loading with a opengl 3d object with black background. The black background color will block the camera view.I just want to clear background color of opengl view so that I could load only the 3d object to the camera view. I had tried glclearcolor(1.0,1.0,1.0,0.0); but no change to background color. I had also tried to clear background color opengl view using [glview setbackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]];. No change in back ground color. Can any one help me with this stuff ? I'm new to opengl. Thanks in advance

• Import OLE Object from Access to MySQL

  I have a table in an access table which contains Product entries, one of the columns has a jpg image stored as an OLE Object. I am trying to import this table to MySQL but nothing seems to work. I have tried the MySQL migration tool but that has a known issue with Access and OLE Objects. (The issue being it doesnt work and leaves the fields blank) I also tried the suggestion on this site and while the data is imported it seems as though the image is getting corrupted in the transfer. When i try to preview the image i just get a binary view, if i save it on disk as a jpg image and try to open it i get an error stating the image is corrupt. The images in Access are fine and can be previewed. Access is storing the data as an OLE Object and when i import it to MySql it is saved in a MediumBlob field. Has anyone had this issue before and how did they resolve it ?
