  So I have 3 classes. Abstract class A Class B extends class A independent Class C In class D that contains the main method, I create a list of instances of class B List<B> b = method-call();` // the method returns a list of instances of class B Now in class C I have one method that is common to both A and B, and hence I don't want to duplicate it. I want to have one method that takes as input an instance of class A, as follows: public void some-method(LIst<A> a) However, when I do: C c = new C(). c. some-method(b) I get an error that some-method is not applicable for the argument List, instead it's expecting to get List. Is there a good way to fix this problem? Many thanks!

• Object directing to a property when accessed as an iterable

  I'm trying to figure out if there's an elegant and concise way to have a class accessing one of its own properties when "used" as a dictionary, basically redirecting all the methods that'd be implemented in an ordered dictionary to one of its properties. Currently I'm inheriting from IterableUserDict and explicitly setting its data to another property, and it seems to be working, but I know that UserDict is considered sort of old, and I'm concerned I might be overlooking something. What I have: class ConnectionInterface(IterableUserDict): def __init__(self, hostObject): self._hostObject= hostObject self.ports= odict.OrderedDict() self.inputPorts= odict.OrderedDict() self.outputPorts= odict.OrderedDict() self.data= self.ports This way I expect the object to behave and respond (and be used) the way I mean it to, except I want to get a freebie ordered dictionary behaviour on its property "ports" when it's iterated, items are gotten by key, something is looked up ala if this in myObject, and so on. Any advice welcome, the above seems to be working fine, but I have an odd itch that I might be missing something. Thanks in advance.

• iOS: Releasing Object Thats In Use (ARC)

  I have an object that I have created that subscribes to some NSNotificationCenter notifications, but it is being released, since I don't have a pointer to the instantiation. The instantiation has a delegate that will call a method back to another class I have, so I felt it unnecessary to also have a pointer to it, since the pointer doesn't serve any purpose. Basically, I have an instantiation of a class, DelegateListener (name is just for example purposes), which subscribes to some of the default NSNotificationCeneter's notifications. This instantiation isn't assigned to any pointer after the instantiation ends. The instantiation, however, has a property, delegate. I assign a value to that delegate during the instantiation. That delegate implements methods that I want the DelegateListener to call when the notifications that it subscribed to fire. The problem with this is that the instantiation of DelegateListener that I create gets released, unless if I assign it to a retained pointer. Is there a way to avoid this automatic release of my DelegateListener instantiation within ARC?

  Hi All, I'm having problem with my GPO changes, that I'd like to force to my terminal server users here's what I've done: I've made some necessary changes in one of the Domain Controllers to disable the GPO which applies to my Terminal Server user OU and then I go to the Terminal Server mstsc /admin console to perform the GPo refresh by using /force parameter, however I got this error instead: C:\Documents and Settings\Adminisratorgpupdate /force Refreshing Policy... User Policy Refresh has not completed in the expected time. Exiting... User Policy Refresh has completed. Computer Policy Refresh has not completed in the expected time. Exiting... • Calling C# object method from IronPython

  I'm trying to embed a scripting engine in my game. Since I'm writing it in C#, I figured IronPython would be a great fit, but the examples I've been able to find all focus on calling IronPython methods in C# instead of C# methods in IronPython scripts. To complicate things, I'm using Visual Studio 2010 RC1 on Windows 7 64 bit. IronRuby works like I expect it would, but I'm not very familiar with Ruby or Python syntax. What I'm doing: ScriptEngine engine = Python.CreateEngine(); ScriptScope scope = engine.CreateScope(); //Test class with a method that prints to the screen. scope.SetVariable("test", this); ScriptSource source = engine.CreateScriptSourceFromString("test.SayHello()", Microsoft.Scripting.SourceCodeKind.Statements); source.Execute(scope); This generates an error, "'TestClass' object has no attribute 'SayHello'" This exact set up works fine with IronRuby though using "self.test.SayHello()" I'm wary using IronRuby though because it doesn't appear as mature as IronPython. If it's close enough, I might go with that though. Any ideas? I know this has to be something simple.

  What's the difference between accessing user data with the Facebook Graph API (http://graph.facebook.com/btaylor) and using the Graph API to make a FQL query of the same user (https://api.facebook.com/method/fql.query?query=QUERY). Also, does anyone know which of them the Facebook Developer Toolkit (for ASP.NET) uses? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to access the logged in user's birthday after they begin a Facebook Connect session on my site, but when I use the toolkit it doesn't return it. However, if I make a manual call to the Graph API for that user object, it does return it. It's possible I might have something wrong with my call from the toolkit. I think I may need to include the session key, but I'm not sure how to get it. • Javascript object dependencies

  In complex client side projects, the number of Javascript files can get very large. However, for performance reasons it's good to concatenate these files, and compress the resulting file for sending over the wire. I am having problems in concatenating these as the dependencies are included after they are needed in some cases. For instance, there are 2 files: /modules/Module.js <requires Core.js> /modules/core/Core.js The directories are recursively traversed, and Module.js gets included before Core.js, which causes errors. This is just a simple example where dependencies could span across directories, and there could be other complex cases. There are no circular dependencies though. The Javascript structure I follow is similar to Java packages, where each file defines a single Object (I'm using MooTools, but that's irrelevant). The structure of each javascript file and the dependencies is always consistent: Module.js var Module = new Class({ Implements: Core, ... }); Core.js var Core = new Class({ ... }); What practices do you usually follow to handle dependencies in projects where the number of Javascript files is huge, and there are inter-file dependencies?

Im not sure if i can use find inside a filter but i also dont know how to get the attribute from the jQuery object. I can not use jQuery(this).attr('data-type') == $filterA Because the attribute maybe contain various filters .Thats why im trying to use jQuery "~=" Should i give up and end using a indexOf ?

I'm trying to set a .Done property to true once each Mosaic image has been downloaded, but it's always false for some reason, what am I doing wrong? var tileData = []; function generate() { var image = new Image(); image.onload = function() { // Build up the 'tileData' array with tile objects from this Image for (var i = 0; i < tileData.length; i++) { var tile = tileData[i]; var tileImage = new Image(); tileImage.onload = function() { // Do something with this tile Image tile.Done = true; }; tileImage.src = tile.ImageUrl; } }; image.src = 'Penguins.jpg'; tryDisplayMosaic(); } function tryDisplayMosaic() { setTimeout(function() { for (var i = 0; i < tileData.length; i++) { var tile = tileData[i]; if (!tile.Done) { tryDisplayMosaic(); return; } } // If we get here then all the tiles have been downloaded alert('All images downloaded'); }, 2000); } Now for some reason the .Done property on the tile object is always false, even though it is explicitly being set to true inside tileImage.onload = function(). And I can ensure you that this function DOES get called because I've placed an alert() call inside it. Right now it's just stuck inside an infinite loop calling tryDisplayMosaic() constantly. Also if I place a loop just before tryDisplayMosaic() is called, and in that loop I set .Done = true, then .Done property is true and alert('All images downloaded'); will get called.

  I am trying to utilize SharePoint 2010 Client Object Model to create a List based on a custom template. Here's my code: public void MakeList(string title, string listTemplateGUID, int localeIdentifier) { string message; string listUrl; List newList; Guid template; ListCreationInformation listInfo; Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ListCollection lists; try { listUrl = title.Replace(spaceChar, string.Empty); template = GetListTemplate((uint)localeIdentifier, listTemplateGUID); listInfo = new ListCreationInformation(); listInfo.Url = listUrl; listInfo.Title = title; listInfo.Description = string.Empty; listInfo.TemplateFeatureId = template; listInfo.QuickLaunchOption = QuickLaunchOptions.On; clientContext.Load(site); clientContext.ExecuteQuery(); lists = site.Lists; clientContext.Load(lists); clientContext.ExecuteQuery(); newList = lists.Add(listInfo); clientContext.ExecuteQuery(); } catch (ServerException ex) { //... } } Now, this particular part, newList = lists.Add(listInfo); clientContext.ExecuteQuery(); the one that is supposed to create the actual list, throws an exception: Message: Cannot complete this action.
