  • How to handle Win+Shift+LEft/Right on Win7 with custom WM_GETMINMAXINFO logic?

    - by Steven Robbins
I have a custom windows implementation in a WPF app that hooks WM_GETMINMAXINFO as follows: private void MaximiseWithTaskbar(System.IntPtr hwnd, System.IntPtr lParam) { MINMAXINFO mmi = (MINMAXINFO)Marshal.PtrToStructure(lParam, typeof(MINMAXINFO)); System.IntPtr monitor = MonitorFromWindow(hwnd, MONITOR_DEFAULTTONEAREST); if (monitor != System.IntPtr.Zero) { MONITORINFO monitorInfo = new MONITORINFO(); GetMonitorInfo(monitor, monitorInfo); RECT rcWorkArea = monitorInfo.rcWork; RECT rcMonitorArea = monitorInfo.rcMonitor; mmi.ptMaxPosition.x = Math.Abs(rcWorkArea.left - rcMonitorArea.left); mmi.ptMaxPosition.y = Math.Abs(rcWorkArea.top - rcMonitorArea.top); mmi.ptMaxSize.x = Math.Abs(rcWorkArea.right - rcWorkArea.left); mmi.ptMaxSize.y = Math.Abs(rcWorkArea.bottom - rcWorkArea.top); mmi.ptMinTrackSize.x = Convert.ToInt16(this.MinWidth * (desktopDpiX / 96)); mmi.ptMinTrackSize.y = Convert.ToInt16(this.MinHeight * (desktopDpiY / 96)); } Marshal.StructureToPtr(mmi, lParam, true); } It all works a treat and it allows me to have a borderless window maximized without having it sit on to of the task bar, which is great, but it really doesn't like being moved between monitors with the new Win7 keyboard shortcuts. Whenever the app is moved with Win+Shift+Left/Right the WM_GETMINMAXINFO message is received, as I'd expect, but MonitorFromWindow(hwnd, MONITOR_DEFAULTTONEAREST) returns the monitor the application has just been moved FROM, rather than the monitor it is moving TO, so if the monitors are of differing resolutions the window end up the wrong size. I'm not sure if there's something else I can call, other then MonitorFromWindow, or whether there's a "moving monitors" message I can hook prior to WM_GETMINMAXINFO. I'm assuming there is a way to do it because "normal" windows work just fine.

  • iPhone app. Creating a custom UIView that contains UITextField and UIButton.

    - by Dmitry Burchik
    Hi all. I am new to iPhone programming. And I have an issue. I need to create a custom user control that I will add to my UIScrollView dinamically. The control has an UITextField and an UIButton. See the code below: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface FieldWithValueControl : UIView { UITextField *txtTagName; UIButton *addButton; } @property (nonatomic, readonly) UITextField *txtTagName; @property (nonatomic, readonly) UIButton *addButton; @end #import "FieldWithValueControl.h" #define ITEM_SPACING 10 #define ITEM_HEIGHT 20 #define SWITCHBOX_WIDTH 100 #define SCREEN_WIDTH 320 #define ITEM_FONT_SIZE 14 #define TEXTBOX_WIDTH 150 @implementation FieldWithValueControl @synthesize txtTagName; @synthesize addButton; - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { // Initialization code txtTagName = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, TEXTBOX_WIDTH, ITEM_HEIGHT)]; txtTagName.borderStyle = UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect; addButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeContactAdd]; [addButton setFrame:CGRectMake(ITEM_SPACING + TEXTBOX_WIDTH, 0, ITEM_HEIGHT, ITEM_HEIGHT)]; [addButton addTarget:self action:@selector(addButtonTouched:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self addSubview:txtTagName]; [self addSubview:addButton]; } return self; } - (void)addButtonTouched:sender { UIButton *button = (UIButton*)sender; NSString *title = [button titleLabel].text; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code } - (void)dealloc { [txtTagName release]; [addButton release]; [super dealloc]; } @end In my code I create an object of that class and add it to scrollView on form. FieldWithValueControl *newTagControl = (FieldWithValueControl*)[[FieldWithValueControl alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(ITEM_SPACING, currentOffset + ITEM_SPACING, 0, 0)]; [scrollView addSubview:newTagControl]; The control looks fine, but if I click to the textbox or to the button nothing happens. Keyboard doesn't appear, the button is not clickable etc.

  • Formatting the output of a custom tool so I can double click an error in Visual Studio and the file opens

    - by Ben Scott
I've written a command line tool that preprocesses a number of files then compiles them using CodeDom. The tool writes a copyright notice and some progress text to the standard output, then writes any errors from the compilation step using the following format: foreach (var err in results.Errors) { // err is CompilerError var filename = "Path\To\input_file.xprt"; Console.WriteLine(string.Format( "{0} ({1},{2}): {3}{4} ({5})", filename, err.Line, err.Column, err.IsWarning ? "" : "ERROR: ", err.ErrorText, err.ErrorNumber)); } It then writes the number of errors, like "14 errors". This is an example of how the error appears in the console: Path\To\input_file.xrpt (73,28): ERROR: An object reference is required for the non-static field, method, or property 'Some.Object.get' (CS0120) When I run this as a custom tool in VS2008 (by calling it in the post-build event command line of one of my project's assemblies), the errors appear nicely formatted in the Error List, with the correct text in each column. When I roll over the filename the fully qualified path pops up. The line and column are different to the source file because of the preprocessing which is fine. The only thing that stands out is that the Project given in the list is the one that has the post-build event. The problem is that when I double click an error, nothing happens. I would have expected the file to open in the editor. I'm vaugely aware of the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop namespace but I think it should be possible just by writing to the standard output.

  • PyGTK: Manually render an existing widget at a given Rectangle? (TextView in a custom CellRenderer)

    - by NicDumZ
Hello! I am trying to draw a TextView into the cell of a TreeView. (Why? I would like to have custom tags on text, so they can be clickable and trigger different actions/popup menus depending on where user clicks). I have been trying to write a customized CellRenderer for this purpose, but so far I failed because I find it extremely difficult to find generic documentation on rendering design in gtk. More than an answer at the specific question (that might be hard/not doable, and I'm not expecting you to do everything for me), I am first looking for documentation on how a widget is rendered, to understand how one is supposed to implement a CellRenderer. Can you share any link that explains, either for gtk or for pygtk, the rendering mechanism? More specifically: size allocation mechanism (should I say protocol?). I understand that a window has a defined size, and then queries its children, saying "my size is w x h, what would be your ideal size, buddy?", and then sometimes shrinks children when all children cant fit together at their ideal sizes. Any specific documentation on that, and on particular on when this happens during rendering? How are rendered "builtin" widgets? What kind of methods do they call on Widget base class? On the parent Window? When? Do they use pango.Layout? can you manually draw a TextView onto a pango.Layout object? This link gives an interesting example showing how you can draw content in a pango.Layout object and use it in a CellRenderer. I guess that I could adapt it if only I understood how TextView widget are rendered. Or perhaps, to put it more simply: given an existing widget instance, how does one render it at a specific gdk.Rectangle? Thanks a lot.

  • How to validate DataReader is actually closed using FxCop custom rule?

    - by tanmay
    I have written couple of custom rules in for FxCop 1.36. I have written code to find weather an opened DataReader is closed or not. But it does not check which DataReader object is calling the Close() method so I can't be sure if all opened DataReader objects are closed!! 2nd: If I am a DataReader in an 'if/else' like if 1=2 dr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); else dr = cmd2.ExecuteReader(); end if In this case it will search for 2 DataReader objects to be closed. I am putting my code for more clarity. public override ProblemCollection Check(Member member) { Method method = member as Method; int countCatch =0; int countErrLog = 0; Instruction objInstr = null; if (method != null) { for (int i = 0; i < method.Instructions.Count; i++) { objInstr = method.Instructions[i]; if (objInstr.Value != null) { if (objInstr.Value.ToString() .Contains("System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader")) { countCatch += 1; } if (countCatch>0) { if (objInstr.Value.ToString().Contains( "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.Close")) { countErrLog += 1; } } } } } if (countErrLog!=countCatch) { Resolution resolu = GetResolution(new string[] { method.ToString() }); Problems.Add(new Problem(resolu)); } return Problems; }

  • Can a custom MFC window/dialog be a class template instantiation?

    - by John
There's a bunch of special macros that MFC uses when creating dialogs, and in my quick tests I'm getting weird errors trying to compile a template dialog class. Is this likely to be a big pain to achieve? Here's what I tried: MyDlg.h template <class W> class CMyDlg : public CDialog { typedef CDialog super; DECLARE_DYNAMIC(CMyDlg <W>) public: CMyDlg (CWnd* pParent); // standard constructor virtual ~CMyDlg (); // Dialog Data enum { IDD = IDD_MYDLG }; protected: virtual void DoDataExchange(CDataExchange* pDX); // DDX/DDV support DECLARE_MESSAGE_MAP() private: W *m_pWidget; //W will always be a CDialog }; IMPLEMENT_DYNAMIC(CMyDlg<W>, super) <------------------- template <class W> CMyDlg<W>::CMyDlg(CWnd* pParent) : super(CMyDlg::IDD, pParent) { m_pWidget = new W(this); } I get a whole bunch of errors but main one appears to be: error C2955: 'CMyDlg' : use of class template requires template argument list I tried using some specialised template versions of macros but it doesn't help much, other errors change but this one remains. Note my code is all in one file, since C++ templates don't like .h/.cpp like normal. I'm assuming someone must have done this in the past, possibly creating custom versions of macros, but I can't find it by searching, since 'template' has other meanings.

  • iPhone Custom CA certificate for an application which uses NSURLConnection?

    - by jr
I have an application which is communicating with many different sites and each site has its own SSL certificate signed by our own internal CA. Doing this prevents us the need from purchasing SSL certificates for each site (hundreds or thousands) and is more secure then using a wildcard certificate with a shared key on each of those sites. So, basically using a CA certificate is the only way. Right now, I have a mobileprovision file which will install the CA certificate as a profile on the phone. When our iPhone application launches if it gets an SSL Certificate error it redirects to a this mobile provision file via Safari and the user will be prompted to install the CA. The problem is that I am concerned that the Apple AppStore might deny my app for doing this (Just some feedback from other developers at this point), and I wanted to research other ways to accomplish this. Basically what I need to accomplish is allow an SSL connection which will verify against a custom CA certificate which will be embedded in my application. This will make the CA certificate active for only the calls I make. I am using the standard NSURLConnection methods in order to communicate with the service. Is this possible? Can someone show me how to load the CA (what form PEM?) and add it to the list of trusted CA certificates for my application? If that is not possible what other options do I have? Just trusting all certificates isn't really any option, we want to prevent man in the middle attacks and only trust our CA issued certificates. Thanks!

  • RoR routing problem. Calling custom action, but getting redirected to show action

    - by conorgil
    I am working on a project in ruby on rails and I am having a very difficult time with a basic problem. I am trying to call a custom action in one of my controllers, but the request is somehow getting redirected to the default 'show' action and I cannot figure out why. link in edit.html.erb: <%= link_to 'Mass Text Entry', :action=>"create_or_add_food_item_from_text" %> Error from development.log: ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound (Couldn't find Menu with ID=create_or_add_food_item_from_text): app/controllers/menus_controller.rb:20:in `show' routes.rb file: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :nutrition_objects map.resources :preference_objects map.resources :institutions map.resources :locations map.resources :menus map.resources :food_items map.resources :napkins map.resources :users map.resource :session, :controller => 'session' map.root :controller=>'pages', :action=>'index' map.about '/about', :controller=>'pages', :action=>'about' map.contact '/contact', :controller=>'pages', :action=>'contact' map.home '/home', :controller=>'pages', :action=>'index' map.user_home '/user/home', :controller=>'rater', :action=>'index' map.user_napkins '/user/napkins', :controller=>'rater', :action=>'view_napkins' map.user_preferences '/user/preferences',:controller=>'rater', :action=>'preferences' map.blog '/blog', :controller=>'pages', :action=>'blog' map.signup '/signup', :controller=>'users', :action=>'new' map.login '/login', :controller=>'session', :action=>'new' map.logout '/logout', :controller=>'session', :action=>'destroy' # Install the default routes as the lowest priority. map.connect ':controller/:action' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' end Menus_controller.rb: class MenusController < ApplicationController ... def create_or_add_food_item_from_text end ... end create_or_add_food_item_from_text.html.erb simply has a div to show a form with a text box in it. I have the rest of my app working fine, but this is stumping me. Any help is appreciated.

  • Custom ADO.NET provider to intercept and modify sql queries.

    - by Faisal
Our client has an application that stores blobs in database which has now grown enough to impact the performance of SQL Server. To overcome this issue, we are planning to offload all blobs to file system and leave the path of file in a new column in user table. Like if user has a table docs with columns id, name and content (blob); we would ask him to add a new column 'filepath' in this table. Our client is willing to make this change in this database. But when it comes to changing the sql queries to read and write into this table, they are not ready to accep this. Actually, they don't want any change that results in recompilation and deployment. Now we are planning to write a custom ADO.NET provider that will intercept the select queries add a column 'filepath' at the end of the select statement retieve the result set and modify the 'content' column value based on 'filepath' value Is there any use case that you think will certainly fail with this approach? I know this sounds dirty but do we have a better way?

  • How do I get my Windows Forms application to use a custom main function and get access to the Applic

    - by burble
Hi Folks I am trying to use a Main () function in a class to control the program flow in my vb .net Windows Forms application. I have added a splash screen component and a login screen, and customised my main sdi form. I have set the startup form to be my main function in the Application Page of the Project Designer, and everything seems to work fine(ish). However, I would like to use: Me.MinimumSplashScreenDisplayTime = 5000 to ensure that the splash screen is visible, but it is not recognised by the system unless I tick the Enable Application Framework check box on the Project Designer. If I do this, on startup the program ignores the login and splash screens and all my customisation and just displays a default Form1, even though I have also specified my splash screen in the AF dropdown list. Of course, there are alternative ways to delay a splash screen, such as putting the thread temporarily to sleep (which didn't seem to work), but I suspect that there are other things in the AF that I may want to use. Any suggestions on how I can get round this please, and get a sensible means of controlling program flow? Any thoughts on the best overall structure for organising program flow would also be helpful too. I am concerned both about going down a Microsoft or an alternative custom route that may cause me problems later, as the application becomes more complex. Thankses.

  • Custom Font. Keeping the font width same.

    - by user338322
I am trying to draw a string using quartz 2d. What i am doing is, i am drawing each letter of the string individually, because each letter has special attributes associated with it, by taking each letter into a new string. The string gets printed, but the space between the letters is not uniform. It looks very ugly to read . I read someting about using custom fonts. But i have no Idea, if I can do it!! my code is here. (void) drawRect : (CGRect)rect{ NSString *string=@"My Name Is Adam"; float j=0; const char *charStr=[string cStringUsingEncoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding]; for(int i=0;i { NSString *str=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%c",charStr[i]]; const char *s=[str cStringUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; NSLog(@"%s",s); CGContextRef context=[self getMeContextRef]; CGContextSetTextMatrix (context,CGAffineTransformMakeScale(1.0, -1.0)) ; CGContextSelectFont(context, "Arial", 24, kCGEncodingMacRoman); //CGContextSetCharacterSpacing (context, 10); CGContextSetRGBFillColor (context, 0,0,200, 1); CGContextSetTextDrawingMode(context,kCGTextFill); CGContextShowTextAtPoint(context, 80+j,80,s,1); j=j+15; } } In the output 'My Name is Adam' gets printed but the space between the letters is not uniform.!! is there any way to make the space uniform!!!

  • Rails - Update a single attribute : link with custom action or form with hidden fields?

    - by MrRuru
Let's say I have a User model, with a facebook_uid field corresponding to the user's facebook id. I want to allow the user to unlink his facebook account. Do do so, I need to set this attribute to nil. I currently see 2 ways of doing this First way : create a custom action and link to it # app/controllers/users_controller.rb def unlink_facebook_account @user = User.find params[:id] # Authorization checks go here @user.facebook_uid = nil @user.save # Redirection go here end # config/routes.rb ressources :users do get 'unlink_fb', :on => :member, :as => unlink_fb end # in a view = link_to "Unlink your facebook account", unlink_fb_path(@user) Second way : create a form to the existing update action # app/views/user/_unlink_fb_form.html.haml = form_for @user, :method => "post" do |f| = f.hidden_field :facebook_uid, :value => nil = f.submit "Unlink Facebook account" I'm not a big fan of either way. In the first one, I have to add a new action for something that the update controller already can do. In the second one, I cannot set the facebook_uid to nil without customizing the update action, and I cannot have a link instead of a button without adding some javascript. Still, what would you recommend as the best and most elegant solution for this context? Did I miss a third alternative?

  • How To Clear An Alert - Part 2

    - by werner.de.gruyter
There were some interesting comments and remarks on the original posting, so I decided to do a follow-up and address some of the issues that got raised... Handling Metric Errors First of all, there is a significant difference between an 'error' and an 'alert'. An 'alert' is the violation of a condition (a threshold) specified for a given metric. That means that the Agent is collecting and gathering the data for the metric, but there is a situation that requires the attention of an administrator. An 'error' on the other hand however, is a failure to collect metric data: The Agent is throwing the error because it cannot determine the value for the metric Whereas the 'alert' guarantees continuity of the metric data, an 'error' signals a big unknown. And the unknown aspect of all this is what makes an error a lot more serious than a regular alert: If you don't know what the current state of affairs is, there could be some serious issues brewing that nobody is aware of... The life-cycle of a Metric Error Clearing a metric error is pretty much the same workflow as a metric 'alert': The Agent signals the error after it failed to execute the metric The error is uploaded to the OMS/repository, where it becomes visible in the Console The error will remain active until the Agent is able to execute the metric successfully. Even though the metric is still getting scheduled and executed on a regular basis, the error will remain outstanding as long as the Agent is not capable of executing the metric correctly Knowing this, the way to fix the metric error should be obvious: Take the 'problem' away, and as soon as the metric is executed again (based on the frequency of the metric), the error will go away. The same tricks used to clear alerts can be used here too: Wait for the next scheduled execution. For those metrics that are executed regularly (like every 15 minutes or so), it's just a matter of waiting those minutes to see the updates. The 'Reevaluate Alert' button can be used to force a re-execution of the metric. In case a metric is executed once a day, this will be a better way to make sure that the underlying problem has been solved. And if it has been, the metric error will be removed, and the regular data points will be uploaded to the repository. And just in case you have to 'force' the issue a little: If you disable and re-enable a metric, it will get re-scheduled. And that means a new metric execution, and an update of the (hopefully) fixed problem. Database server-generated alerts and problem checkers There are various ways the Agent can collect metric data: Via a script or a SQL statement, reading a log file, getting a value from an SNMP OID or listening for SNMP traps or via the DBMS_SERVER_ALERTS mechanism of an Oracle database. For those alert which are generated by the database (like tablespace metrics for 10g and above databases), the Agent just 'waits' for the database to report any new findings. If the Agent has lost the current state of the server-side metrics (due to an incomplete recovery after a disaster, or after an improper use of the 'emctl clearstate' command), the Agent might be still aware of an alert that the database no longer has (or vice versa). The same goes for 'problem checker' alerts: Those metrics that only report data if there is a problem (like the 'invalid objects' metric) will also have a problem if the Agent state has been tampered with (again, the incomplete recovery, and after improper use of 'emctl clearstate' are the two main causes for this). The best way to deal with these kinds of mismatches, is to simple disable and re-enable the metric again: The disabling will clear the state of the metric, and the re-enabling will force a re-execution of the metric, so the new and updated results can get uploaded to the repository. Starting 10gR5, the Agent performs additional checks and verifications after each restart of the Agent and/or each state change of the database (shutdown/startup or failover in case of DataGuard) to catch these kinds of mismatches.

  • Measuring Code Quality

    - by DotNetBlues
Several months back, I was tasked with measuring the quality of code in my organization. Foolishly, I said, "No problem." I figured that Visual Studio has a built-in code metrics tool (Analyze -> Calculate Code Metrics) and that would be a fine place to start with. I was right, but also very wrong. The Visual Studio calculates five primary metrics: Maintainability Index, Cyclomatic Complexity, Depth of Inheritance, Class Coupling, and Lines of Code. The first two are figured at the method level, the second at (primarily) the class level, and the last is a simple count. The first question any reasonable person should ask is "Which one do I look at first?" The first question any manager is going to ask is, "What one number tells me about the whole application?" My answer to both, in a way, was "Maintainability Index." Why? Because each of the other numbers represent one element of quality while MI is a composite number that includes Cyclomatic Complexity. I'd be lying if I said no consideration was given to the fact that it was abstract enough that it's harder for some surly developer (I've been known to resemble that remark) to start arguing why a high coupling or inheritance is no big deal or how complex requirements are to blame for complex code. I should also note that I don't think there is one magic bullet metric that will tell you objectively how good a code base is. There are a ton of different metrics out there, and each one was created for a specific purpose in mind and has a pet theory behind it. When you've got a group of developers who aren't accustomed to measuring code quality, picking a 0-100 scale, non-controversial metric that can be easily generated by tools you already own really isn't a bad place to start. That sort of answers the question a developer would ask, but what about the management question; how do you dashboard this stuff when Visual Studio doesn't roll up the numbers to the solution level? Since VS does roll up the MI to the project level, I thought I could just figure out what sort of weighting Microsoft used to roll method scores up to the class level and then to the namespace and project levels. I was a bit surprised by the answer: there is no weighting. That means that a class with one 1300 line method (which will score a 0 MI) and one empty constructor (which will score a 100 MI) will have an overall MI of a respectable 50. Throw in a couple of DTOs that are nothing more than getters and setters (which tend to score 95 or better) and the project ends up looking really, really healthy. The next poor bastard who has to work on the application is probably not going to be singing the praises of its maintainability, though. For the record, that 1300 line method isn't a hypothetical, either. So, what does one do with that? Well, I decided to weight the average by the Lines of Code per method. For our above example, the formula for the class's MI becomes ((1300 * 0) + (1 * 100))/1301 = .077, rounded to 0. Sounds about right. Continue the pattern for namespace, project, solution, and even multi-solution application MI scores. This can be done relatively easily by using the "export to Excel" button and running a quick formula against the data. On the short list of follow-up questions would be, "How do I improve my application's score?" That's an answer for another time, though.

  • Populating a combobox on selectedindex change of another combobox

    - by Riju K K
Hi, I have created a custom dialog UI, which contains two combobox with SQL server instance & on selection of one of SQLServer instance, another combobox has to be filled with name of Databases on that server instance. I am able to find filling combo with SQL server Instances I had written a similar CustomAction to fill the combobox with database names [CustomAction] public static ActionResult FillDatabases(Session xiSession) { xiSession.Log("Begin CustomAction"); xiSession.Log("Opening view"); View lView = xiSession.Database.OpenView("DELETE FROM ComboBox WHERE ComboBox.Property='DBNAME'"); lView.Execute(); lView = xiSession.Database.OpenView("SELECT * FROM ComboBox"); lView.Execute(); int Index = 1; //bool flag = false; try { Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server svr = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server(xiSession["DBSRVR"]); foreach (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Database db in svr.Databases ) { String dbName = db.Name; Record lRecord = xiSession.Database.CreateRecord(3); xiSession.Log("Setting record details"); lRecord.SetString(1, "DBNAME"); lRecord.SetInteger(2, Index); lRecord.SetString(3, db.Name); xiSession.Log("Adding record"); lView.Modify(ViewModifyMode.InsertTemporary, lRecord); ++Index; } } catch (Exception ex) { //logException(xiSession, ex); xiSession.Log(ex.Message ); } lView.Close(); xiSession.Log("Closing view"); lView.Close(); return ActionResult.Success; } I want to call these custom actions somewhat like shown below, <Binary Id="CustomActions.CA.dll" SourceFile="CustomActions.CA.dll" /> <CustomAction Id="FillServerInstances" BinaryKey="CustomActions.CA.dll" DllEntry="FillServerInstances" Execute="immediate" Return="check" /> <CustomAction Id="FillDatabases" BinaryKey="CustomActions.CA.dll" DllEntry="FillDatabases" Execute="immediate" Return="check" /> <InstallUISequence> <Custom Action="FillServerInstances" After="CostFinalize" /> <Custom Action="FillDatabases" After="FillServerInstances" /> </InstallUISequence> I need to show this Sqlserver selection custom dialog from another custom UI, in case user clicked on a pushbutton. Am I doing the right thing in the WiX code? Is there a better way in which combobox custom action fire only when user click on a pushbutton? "FillDatabases" custom action have to be fire whenever user select a new SQLServer instance. How do i do that? Thanks

  • Resgen al.exe generated resources do not work within .net library

    - by Raj G
Hi, I am currently working on a library in .Net and I planned to make the strings that are used within the library into culture specific resource files. I made Resources.resx, Resources.en-US.resx and Resources.ja-JP.resx file. I also deleted the Resources.designer.cs file autogenerated by visual studio 2008. I am loading Resources through my custom ResourceManager object [using GetString method]. The problem that I am facing is that when I compile the library within visual studio and set the culture from the calling application, everything is working fine. • How can I print a batch of files with custom printer settings?

    - by Li-aung Yip
I have a collection of A3-size (tabloid size) PDF drawings which I would like to print as a batch. The particular printer I am using doesn't automatically check the paper size of the document - it always defaults to A4 (letter) size paper unless told otherwise. I need to go into the printer settings and tell the printer to use A3 size paper. A batch printing utility like DarkStorm's Batch Print Handler would be good for this. However this particular utility doesn't support changing the paper size settings or other printer settings. How can I go about batch printing these PDFs with a particular paper size?

  • How to make custom WCF error handler return JSON response with non-OK http code?

    - by John
I'm implementing a RESTful web service using WCF and the WebHttpBinding. Currently I'm working on the error handling logic, implementing a custom error handler (IErrorHandler); the aim is to have it catch any uncaught exceptions thrown by operations and then return a JSON error object (including say an error code and error message - e.g. { "errorCode": 123, "errorMessage": "bla" }) back to the browser user along with an an HTTP code such as BadRequest, InteralServerError or whatever (anything other than 'OK' really). Here is the code I am using inside the ProvideFault method of my error handler: fault = Message.CreateMessage(version, "", errorObject, new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(ErrorMessage))); var wbf = new WebBodyFormatMessageProperty(WebContentFormat.Json); fault.Properties.Add(WebBodyFormatMessageProperty.Name, wbf); var rmp = new HttpResponseMessageProperty(); rmp.StatusCode = System.Net.HttpStatusCode.InternalServerError; rmp.Headers.Add(HttpRequestHeader.ContentType, "application/json"); fault.Properties.Add(HttpResponseMessageProperty.Name, rmp); -- This returns with Content-Type: application/json, however the status code is 'OK' instead of 'InternalServerError'. fault = Message.CreateMessage(version, "", errorObject, new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(ErrorMessage))); var wbf = new WebBodyFormatMessageProperty(WebContentFormat.Json); fault.Properties.Add(WebBodyFormatMessageProperty.Name, wbf); var rmp = new HttpResponseMessageProperty(); rmp.StatusCode = System.Net.HttpStatusCode.InternalServerError; //rmp.Headers.Add(HttpRequestHeader.ContentType, "application/json"); fault.Properties.Add(HttpResponseMessageProperty.Name, rmp); -- This returns with the correct status code, however the content-type is now XML. fault = Message.CreateMessage(version, "", errorObject, new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(ErrorMessage))); var wbf = new WebBodyFormatMessageProperty(WebContentFormat.Json); fault.Properties.Add(WebBodyFormatMessageProperty.Name, wbf); var response = WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse; response.ContentType = "application/json"; response.StatusCode = HttpStatusCode.InternalServerError; -- This returns with the correct status code and the correct content-type! The problem is that the http body now has the text 'Failed to load source for: http://localhost:7000/bla..' instead of the actual JSON data.. Any ideas? I'm considering using the last approach and just sticking the JSON in the HTTP StatusMessage header field instead of in the body, but this doesn't seem quite as nice?

  • How to make the start menu finds a program based on a custom keyword?

    - by Pierre-Alain Vigeant
I am searching for a way to type a keyword in the start menu Search programs and files field and that it will return the application that match the keyword. An example will better explain this: Suppose that I want to start the powershell. Currently what I can type in the search field is power and the first item that appear is the 64bits powershell shortcut. Now suppose that I'd like ps to return powershell as the first item of the search list. Currently, typing ps return all files with the .ps extension, alongs with a control panel options about recording steps but not the powershell executable itself. How can I do that?

  • Django custom SQL returning single row of results when query returns 2?

    - by Alvin
    I have a custom SQL call that is returning different results to the template than I get when I run the same query against the database directly, 1 row vs 2 Query - copied from Django Debug Toolbar: SELECT ((Sum(new_recruit_interviews) / Sum(opportunities_offered)) * 100) as avg_recruit, ((Sum(inspections) / Sum(presentations)) * 100) as avg_inspect, ((Sum(contracts_signed) / Sum(roof_approvals)) * 100) as avg_contracts, ((Sum(adjusters) / Sum(contracts_signed)) * 100) as avg_adjusters, ((Sum(roof_approvals) / Sum(adjusters)) *100) as roof_approval_avg, ((Sum(roof_turned_in) / Sum(adjusters)) * 100) as roof_jobs_avg, Sum(roof_turned_in) as roof_jobs_total, ((Sum(siding_approvals) / Sum(adjusters)) *100) as siding_approval_avg, ((Sum(siding_turned_in) / Sum(adjusters)) * 100) as siding_jobs_avg, Sum(siding_turned_in) as siding_jobs_total, ((Sum(gutter_approvals) / Sum(adjusters)) *100) as gutter_approval_avg, ((Sum(gutter_turned_in) / Sum(adjusters)) * 100) as gutter_jobs_avg, Sum(gutter_turned_in) as gutter_jobs_total, ((Sum(window_approvals) / Sum(adjusters)) *100) as window_approval_avg, ((Sum(window_turned_in) / Sum(adjusters)) * 100) as window_jobs_avg, Sum(window_turned_in) as window_jobs_total, (Sum(roof_turned_in) + Sum(siding_turned_in) + Sum(gutter_turned_in) + Sum(window_turned_in)) as total_jobs, (((Sum(collections_jobs_new) + Sum(collections_jobs_previous)) / (Sum(roof_turned_in) + Sum(siding_turned_in) + Sum(gutter_turned_in) + Sum(window_turned_in))) * 100) as total_collections, sales_report_salesmen.location_id as detail_id, business_unit_location.title as title FROM sales_report_salesmen Inner Join auth_user ON sales_report_salesmen.user_id = auth_user.id Inner Join business_unit_location ON sales_report_salesmen.location_id = business_unit_location.id GROUP BY location_id Results from direct query running the above query: INSERT INTO `` (`avg_recruit`, `avg_inspect`, `avg_contracts`, `avg_adjusters`, `roof_approval_avg`, `roof_jobs_avg`, `roof_jobs_total`, `siding_approval_avg`, `siding_jobs_avg`, `siding_jobs_total`, `gutter_approval_avg`, `gutter_jobs_avg`, `gutter_jobs_total`, `window_approval_avg`, `window_jobs_avg`, `window_jobs_total`, `total_jobs`, `total_collections`, `detail_id`, `title`) VALUES (95.3968, 92.8178, 106.9622, 90.2928, 103.5420, 103.5670, 4152, 100.2494, 106.8845, 4285, 120.1297, 86.2559, 3458, 92.9658, 106.1611, 4256, 16151, 4.281469, 12, 'St Paul, MN'); VALUES (90.2982, 73.3723, 97.8474, 104.5433, 97.7585, 86.1848, 1884, 109.9268, 109.3321, 2390, 81.0156, 96.4318, 2108, 91.7200, 123.8792, 2708, 9090, 4.531573, 13, 'Denver, CO'); Results from template: {'roof_jobs_total': Decimal('4152'), 'gutter_jobs_total': Decimal('3458'), 'avg_adjusters': Decimal('90.2928'), 'title': u'St Paul, MN', 'window_approval_avg': Decimal('92.9658'), 'total_collections': Decimal('4.281469'), 'gutter_approval_avg': Decimal('120.1297'), 'avg_recruit': Decimal('95.3968'), 'siding_approval_avg': Decimal('100.2494'), 'window_jobs_total': Decimal('4256'), 'detail_id': 12L, 'siding_jobs_avg': Decimal('106.8845'), 'avg_inspect': Decimal('92.8178'), 'roof_approval_avg': Decimal('103.5420'), 'roof_jobs_avg': Decimal('103.5670'), 'total_jobs': Decimal('16151'), 'window_jobs_avg': Decimal('106.1611'), 'avg_contracts': Decimal('106.9622'), 'gutter_jobs_avg': Decimal('86.2559'), 'siding_jobs_total': Decimal('4285')} Tried tweaking it a few ways and running the results through various for loops, keep getting the same result where my results are a single row through the Django template and the expected results (through console) have 2 rows The row that is coming back is the same as the first row returned through the console query so I'm thinking that it is running correctly just a matter of passing the results through... for good measure this is the code I'm using to generate the query (yes it's a bit ugly, been playing with it) def sql_grouped(table, fields, group_by=False, where=False): from django.db import connection query = 'SELECT %s FROM %s' % (fields, table) if where: query = query + ' WHERE %s' % (where) if group_by: query = query + ' GROUP BY %s' % (group_by) cursor = connection.cursor() cursor.execute(query) desc = cursor.description data = [dict(zip([col[0] for col in desc], row)) for row in cursor.fetchall()] return data[0] any feedback is greatly appreciated - been tinkering with this since I realized I could skip a few steps by generating my averages directly within the SQL rather than post-process

  • Custom Icon for NFS Volume Mount - Possible for OSX?

    - by James
We are naming our various network volumes after Planets! I renamed the Mercury.icns icon, to .VolumeIcon.icns and copied it over to the mount point folder of the NFS server. So far remounting the NFS share does not seem to employ this icon. Looking on the NFS server, there appears to be two VolumeIcon files. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Permissions? Do I need a .DS_Store file there as well?? It shouldn't be this hard! EDIT: Should have mentioned, the NFS server is Ubuntu 12.04.1. NOT an OSX server.

  • How should I provide access to this custom DAL?

    - by Casey
I'm writing a custom DAL (VB.NET) for an ordering system project. I'd like to explain how it is coded now, and receive some alternate ideas to make coding against the DAL easier/more readable. The DAL is part of an n-tier (not n-layer) application, where each tier is in it's own assembly/DLL. The DAL consists of several classes that have specific behavior. For instance, there is an Order class that is responsible for retrieving and saving orders. Most of the classes have only two methods, a "Get" and a "Save," with multiple overloads for each. These classes are marked as Friend and are only visible to the DAL (which is in it's own assembly). In most cases, the DAL returns what I will call a "Data Object." This object is a class that contains only data and validation, and is located in a common assembly that both the BLL and DAL can read. To provide public access to the DAL, I currently have a static (module) class that has many shared members. A simplified version looks something like this: Public Class DAL Private Sub New End Sub Public Shared Function GetOrder(OrderID as String) as OrderData Dim OrderGetter as New OrderClass Return OrderGetter.GetOrder(OrderID) End Function End Class Friend Class OrderClass Friend Function GetOrder(OrderID as string) as OrderData End Function End Class The BLL would call for an order like this: DAL.GetOrder("123456") As you can imagine, this gets cumbersome very quickly. I'm mainly interested in structuring access to the DAL so that Intellisense is very intuitive. As it stands now, there are too many methods/functions in the DAL class with similar names. One idea I had is to break down the DAL into nested classes: Public Class DAL Private Sub New End Sub Public Class Orders Private Sub New End Sub Public Shared Function Get(OrderID as string) as OrderData End Function End Class End Class So the BLL would call like this: DAL.Orders.Get("12345") This cleans it up a bit, but it leaves a lot of classes that only have references to other classes, which I don't like for some reason. Without resorting to passing DB specific instructions (like where clauses) from BLL to DAL, what is the best or most common practice for providing a single point of access for the DAL?

  • Google Analytics API Authentication Speedup

    - by Paulo
I'm using a Google Analytics API Class in PHP made by Doug Tan to retrieve Analytics data from a specific profile. Check the url here: http://code.google.com/intl/nl/apis/analytics/docs/gdata/gdataArticlesCode.html When you create a new instance of the class you can add the profile id, your google account + password, a daterange and whatever dimensions and metrics you want to pick up from analytics. For example i want to see how many people visited my website from different country's in 2009. //make a new instance from the class $ga = new GoogleAnalytics($email,$password); //website profile example id $ga->setProfile('ga:4329539'); //date range $ga->setDateRange('2010-02-01','2010-03-08'); //array to receive data from metrics and dimensions $array = $ga->getReport( array('dimensions'=>('ga:country'), 'metrics'=>('ga:visits'), 'sort'=>'-ga:visits' ) ); Now you know how this API class works, i'd like to adress my problem. Speed. It takes alot of time to retrieve multiple types of data from the analytics database, especially if you're building different arrays with different metrics/dimensions. How can i speed up this process? Is it possible to store all the possible data in a cache so i am able to retrieve the data without loading it over and over again?
