How to search within an xml data set?

Hi, I have some xml data and I am trying to keyword search data. For example, if I search "some" for the following data it returns me the <id> and <title>. <resource> <id>101</id> <title>Test Environment</title> <description>Some description. </description> <type>classroom</type> </resource> <resource> <id>102</id> <title>ABC Test Environment</title> <description>Some another description. </description> <type>classroom</type> </resource> ... I had a look on on xpath e.g. $xml->xpath('//title') but looks for elements only. Basically what I need to do is to create a functionality where users can keyword search within the above data set which I receive from third party api in the above format. Any ideas how I can achieve this? using PHP/ Javascript etc. Thanks.

I need to sort the facets that come back from SOLR by relevancy

I have within my SOLR index song objects which belong to a higher level album object. An example is shown below: <song> <album title>Blood Sugar Sex Magic</album title> <song title>Under the Bridge</song title> <description>A sad song about junkies</description> </song> What I can do at the moment is create a facet on the album title so that a search on songs will also show me what albums contain hits for that keyword. The default behaviour for SOLR is that the facets are shown in the order of most hits to least. However what I want to achieve is the facet list to be sorted according to the relevancy of the top hit for that album. For example a search on the word "sad" may show a facet with one hit for "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and there may also be an album called "Sad Clown songs" where there are 10 hits. "Sad clown songs" will show as the first facet even though it may be that "Under the bridge" comes up as the most relevant song. My question is how can I get all the facets back but then have them ordered by the relevancy of the songs within them? If I would need to change or extend some underlying SOLR code what would that be? Thanks in advance.

Slow first page load on asp.net site

Hi, Every now and then (always after a long period of idle-time, e.g. overnight) when I access a site built using asp.net - it takes around 15 seconds to load the page (15 seconds before I see any progress whatsoever, then the page comes up fast). Further pages on that site, or refreshes, are quick as usual - they are also fast on other machines, only the first one seems to take the 'hit'. Page tracing never through anything up (whole cycle was a fraction of a second) So my question is where else should I be looking? Perhaps IIS? Or could it still be my asp.net app and I'm just looking in the wrong place (the trace) for clues? As I don't have much control over the IIS server, anything I can check through asp.net would be more helpful, before I go ask that particular admin. cheers :D

Very simple code for number search gives me infinite loop

Hello, I am a newbie Computer Science high school student and I have trouble with a small snippet of code. Basically, my code should perform a basic CLI search in an array of integers. However, what happens is I get what appears to be an infinite loop (BlueJ, the compiler I'm using, gets stuck and I have to reset the machine). New Site : Showing first time visitors what the site offers

The site I'm working on, is almost completed. I have a Demo page created as well, where people can try out the product. However for first time visitors to understand what service the site actually provides I'm brainstorming with the following ideas. Since a lot of folks have been through this a number of time, would like to get some advice on what they use and what generally works. Here is what I came up with - 1.) Plain Slideshow, showing various features. (Using jQquery, hence figuring out a simple BUT professional looking plugin).Simplest to implement. 2.) Flash - Will have to hire someone. 3.) JellyVision ? - I'm not sure if this is free though. But something free like this would be great !

Alright, so I'm putting together a path to select a revision of a particular novel: SELECT Catalog.WbsId, Catalog.Revision, NovelRevision.Revision FROM Catalog, BookInCatalog INNER JOIN NovelMaster INNER JOIN HasNovelRevision INNER JOIN NovelRevision ON HasNovelRevision.right = NovelRevision.obid ON HasNovelRevision.Left=NovelMaster.obid ON NovelMaster.obid = BookInCatalog.Right WHERE Catalog.obid = BookInCatalog.Left; This returns all revisions that are in the Novel Master for each Novel Master that is in the catalog. The problem is, I only want the FIRST revision of each novel master in the catalog. How do I go about doing that? Oh, and btw: my flavor of sql is hobbled, as many others are, in that it does not support the LIMIT Function.

Import files directly to SVN repo without checking out first

Hi, I am using SVN and have a repository on a remote machine. Sometimes, when working on my local machine I realize that I need to add some new files to the repo. The usual procedure I know would then be: 1- at the current folder on my local machine checkout the whole SVN repo 2- enter there 3- copy the interesting file here 4- commit But this can be a bit tedious. I wonder if somehow, I can omit steps 1 to 3 and import the "interesting" file to SVN directly without necessity of checking out the repo first. Thanks

Can't remove first node in linked list

I'm trying to make a linked list class in python (pointless I know, but it's a learning exercise), and the method I have written to remove a node doesn't work if I try to remove the first element of the linked list. If the node to be removed is anywhere else in the linked list the method works fine. Can someone give me some insight as to where I've gone wrong? Disabling identity (auto-incrementing) on integer primary key using code first

I am using code first approach in a ASP.NET MVC 3 application and all integer primary keys in models (public int Id { get; set; }) are by default configured as an identity with auto-incrementing. How to disable this and enable a way to manually enter the integer for the primary key? The actual situation is that the Id integers have a special meaning and I would therefore like to have them choosable at creation and later editable. It would be ideal if in case the integer is not given at creation time it is auto-incremented, else the specified value is used. But editable primary fields is my primary need. Is there any way to do this elegantly in ASP.NET MVC 3?

First html5 website, see any mistakes?

It's actually a pretty sloppy job since its a learning experience and all. I know some files (like favicons and some scripts) are useless/not linked, but seeing as this is a test I won't bother creating them. But do you see any mistakes I made? I am contemplating writing my first blackberry app. I am fundamentally, a C/C++ programmer (not Java), can anyone provide some guidelines on the quickest route (i.e. shallowest learning curve) to writing a blackberry app? As an aside: In an ideal world, I would like to write once and deploy for both Blackberry and the iPhone, but since I am targetting largely business people, I guess blackberry should be my target - right? [AS 3.0] How to use the string.match method to find multiple occurrences of the same word in a strin

In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is (although please let me know if i'm doing something wrong or missing something!). I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched. I'm wondering if that is just how the string.match method is and if so, if anyone has any idea what the best way to do this would be. Thanks.

mysql - multiple where and search

I'm trying to write a SQL query that satisfies multiple criteria. Of these, most are connected via a column, so joins are possible, however, some queries are such that I'd have to search additional tables for the information. What would be the least expensive and best way to do this? Let's say that we have a few tables. One table contains information such as sales information for a server: the salesperson, client id, service lease term, timestamps etc. It is possible that a client has multiple sales but with a different "service". I'd need to pick up all of the different ones. Another table has the quotes for the services, I'd need to pick some information out about this, whilst another, which could be joined to this one has some more information. Those tables are linked by a common client ID, so joins are possible, but I'd also need to search the first table for multiple instances of the client ID. Of course, I'd want to restrict the search to certain timestamps, which I can easily do as the timestamps are stored in MySQL format.

Here's the problem. I have a tab bar controller with 4 separate views. When I navigate from the first view to the second view, it takes some time to load up the second view. What I want to do is be able to load and initialize all of my tab bar views during my splash screen. That way, when the user navigates between the tab views, there is no wait time. I've looked around and can't quite grasp the whole answer to this SQL query question needed to extract data from an MS Access 2000 table. i have some text box in a page and in the same page there will be a table 'grid' like for holding the search result. When the user start editing and of the textbox above, the search must start by sending all textboxs values to the server 'ajax', and get back with the results to fill the below grid. Notes: This grid should support paging, sorting by clicking on headers and it will contains some controls beside the results such as checkboxs for boolean values and links for opening details in another page. I know many ways to do this some of them are: 1- updatepanel around all of these controls and thats it "fast dirty solution" 2- send the search criteria using ajax request using JQuery post function for example and get back the JSON result, and using a template will draw the grid "clean but will take time to finish and will be harder to edit later". 3- .... My question is: What do you think will be the best choice to implement this scenario? because i face this scenario too much, and want to know which implementation will be better regarding performance, optimization, and time to finish. I just want to know your thoughts about this issue.
