  • Testing a Generic Class

    - by Jonas Gorauskas
    More than a question, per se, this is an attempt to compare notes with other people. I wrote a generic History class that emulates the functionality of a browser's history. I am trying to wrap my head around how far to go when writing unit tests for it. I am using NUnit. Please share your testing approaches below. The full code for the History class is here (http://pastebin.com/ZGKK2V84).

  • iPhone SDK: How to record voices with ambient noise supression?

    - by Harkonian
    Can anyone point me in the right direction on how I would minimize ambient noise while recording someone speaking using the iPhone SDK Core Audio? I'm guessing a band-pass filter that eliminates any frequencies above and below the human vocal range might work. I have no idea how I would implement band filters on audio in the SDK though. The optimum solution would be one that eliminates the noise from the stream before it is written to memory/disk. Some sample code would be appreciated.

  • Validating textboxes and checkboxes then add the values of those checkboxes

    - by TiTi Nguyen
    I am very new to Javascript. I am running to a problem and don't know how to solve it. Could you please help? Basically, I want to create some textboxes and checkboxes in a form. Then I have to validate those fields, and add the values of the checkboxes if they are selected. One of the textboxes asking for how many semesters attended, and 3 checkboxes with value of 100, 1000, and 750. Whichever checkbox is selected, it should multiply its value to the number of semesters attended. For example if the first two checkboxes are selected then totalCost = (100+1000)* semester. Here is my code: User Name: <label>User Address: <input type = "text" id ="address" size = "30"/></label> <br/><br/> <label> User E-mail address: <input type = "text" id ="email" size = "30"/></label> <br/><br/> <label> User Phone number: <input type = "text" id ="phone" size = "30"/></label> <br/><br/> <label> User area code: <input type = "text" id ="area" size = "30"/></label> <br/><br/> <label> User SSN: <input type = "text" id ="ssn" size = "30"/></label> <br/><br/> <label> User Birthday: <input type = "text" id ="birthday" size = "30"/></label> <br/><br/> <label> Number of semester attended: <input type = "text" id ="semester" size = "3"/></label> <br/><br/> <label><input type="checkbox" id="box_book" value="100"/>Books $100 per semester</label> <br/> <label><input type="checkbox" id="box_tuition" value="1000"/>Tuition $1000 per semester</label> <br/> <label><input type="checkbox" id="box_room" value="750"/>Room and Board $750 per semester</label> <br/> <input type="reset" id="reset"/> <input type="submit" id="submit" onclick="checking()"/> <p/> </form> function checking() { var name=document.forms["myForm"]["name"].value; var address=document.forms["myForm"]["address"].value; var email=document.forms["myForm"]["email"].value; var atpos=email.indexOf("@"); var dotpos=email.lastIndexOf("."); var phone=document.forms["myForm"]["phone"].value; var area=document.forms["myForm"]["area"].value; var ssn=document.forms["myForm"]["ssn"].value; var birth=document.forms["myForm"]["birthday"].value; var semester=document.forms["myForm"]["semester"].value; var boxBook = document.forms["myForm"]["box_book"].value; var boxTuition = document.forms["myForm"]["box_tuition"].value; var boxRoom = document.forms["myForm"]["box_room"].value; if (name==null || name=="") { alert("Please fill in your name."); return false; } if (address==null || address=="") { alert("Please fill in your address."); return false; } if (atpos<1 || dotpos<atpos+2 || dotpos+2>=email.length) { alert("The email (" + email + ") is not a valid e-mail address. Please help.

  • Update time descriptions every minute using jquery/javascript

    - by Amy Neville
    I have created the following code to update the text contents of all spans like this every minute. There are numerous of these spans on the page which all need to be updated every minute: <span unix="1372263005" class="time_ago">4 minutes ago</span> The code is as follows: window.setInterval(function(){ var unix = $(".time_ago").text(); var now = new Date().getTime(); var amount = 0; var difference = 0; difference = now - parseInt(unix); if (difference < 60) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a few seconds ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 120) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a minute ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 3600) { amount = floor(difference / 60); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' minutes ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 7200) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">an hour ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 86400) { amount = floor(difference / 3600); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' hours ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 172800) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a day ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 2635200) { amount = floor(difference / 86400); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' days ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 5270400) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a month ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 31622400) { amount = floor(difference / 2635200); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' months ago</span>'); } else if (difference < 63244800) { $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">a year ago</span>'); } else (difference >= 63244800) { amount = floor(difference / 31622400); $(".time_ago").text('<span unix="' + unix + '" class="time_ago">' + amount + ' years ago</span>'); } return false; }, 60); EDIT) Ok, now I have made some changes on your advice but it's changing the span texts to 43351 years. Any ideas why it is doing that?

  • Number of threads and thread numbers in Grand Central Dispatch

    - by raphgott
    I am using C and Grand Central Dispatch to parallelize some heavy computations. How can I get the number of threads used by GCD? Also is it possible to know on which thread a piece of code is currently running on? Basically I'd like to use sprng (parallel random numbers) with multiple streams and for that I need to know what stream id to use (and therefore what thread is being used).

  • add paddingRight just to specific column of flex grid

    Whenever I add paddingRight to a column in the flex grid, it adds the padding to the header as well. Is anyone familiar with how I can add paddingRight just to the column and not to the header? Below is the column code where I was specifying the padding. <mx:DataGridColumn width="60" headerText="Type" dataField="Grade" headerStyleName="headerLeft" textAlign="left" draggable="false" resizable="false" headerRenderer="GridHeaderRenderer" paddingRight="5"/>

  • Mindblowing jQuery Weirdness

    - by Jason
    ...at least to me. This code used to work fine. I'm pretty sure nothing has changed, but now all of the sudden it behaves oddly. Basically I'm trying to create inline editing functionality. When the user clicks on the link, it dynamically generates a textbox and a confirm and cancel link. I'm having problems with the cancel link not removing everything in the cell. HTML: ... <td class="bid"> <a href="javascript:" class="102093" title="Click to modify bid">$0.45</a> </td> ... Binding jQuery (in $(function())): $('.bid a').live('click', renderBidChange); .... $('.report_table .cancel').live('click', cancelUpdate); renderBidChange (this function creates the dynamic elements): function renderBidChange(){ var cpc = $(this); var value = cpc.text().replace('$', ''); var cell = cpc.parent('.bid'); cpc.hide(); var input = document.createElement('input'); $(input).attr({type:'text',class:'dynamic cpc-input'}).val(value); cell.append(input); var accept = document.createElement('a'); $(accept).addClass('accept').attr({'href':'javascript:', 'title':'Accept Changes'}).text('Accept Changes'); cell.append(accept); var cancel = document.createElement('a'); $(cancel).addClass('cancel').attr({'href':'javascript:', 'title':'Cancel Changes'}).text('Cancel Changes'); cell.append(cancel); $(input).focus(); input.select(); } cancelUpdate this function just removes everything visible (all the dynamic junk in this case) in the cell and shows what used to be there. function cancelUpdate(){ var cell = $(this).parent(); cell.find(':visible').remove(); cell.find(':hidden').show(); } However, for some reason, the cancel link remains after it is clicked! Everything else is removed except that. W T F Thanks for any insight you're able to provide! I'm sure it's just some stupid little detail I'm over[caffeinatedly]looking... UPDATE Immediately after posting this I epiphanied that it may be a CSS issue, but after double checking my code, it is not.

  • Trouble with Native OpenGL Renderer

    - by CaseyB
    I am using Native code to render OpenGL in Android and I get periodic errors that look like this: ERROR/IMGSRV(1435): frameresource.c:610: WaitUntilResourceIsNotNeeded: PVRSRVEventObjectWait failed ERROR/IMGSRV(1018): sgxif.c:124: WaitForRender: PVRSRVEventObjectWait failed ERROR/IMGSRV(1435): osfunc_um.c:318: PVRSRVEventObjectWait: Error 13 returned Once these errors come up I have to restart the phone or the rendering won't start again correctly. I have done a lot of web searching and I can't find out what could be the cause of these errors. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

  • outputting html in runtime in asp.net

    - by madness800
    Hi all, I'm building a website at the moment, I've some html fragment that is being stored into the database, I've been reading around that inserting HTML at runtime poses security risks by using the InnerHTML property of any html tag with runat server on it. So, my question is there any alternative way to safely display the html code and won't pose security risks and is it best to assume any textboxes on any given page is dangerous and process the text in the textboxes with Server.HtmlEncode before I store it to database? Cheers

  • Mapping a ER model to Rails

    - by Thiago
    Hi there, I want to map the following ER schema to rails: I have an entity called "user" which has a self relationship called "has friend", which has an attribute called "status". In code, I would like to run: User.friends and it should return me an array of users, containing the users that I'm friend of. It shouldn't matter in which side of the relationship I am (i.e. whether I'm the friender or the friendee). Any thoughts?

From my searches on the web everything seem to be OK. Any idea?

  • String searching algorithm for Chinese characters.

    There are Python code available for existing algorithms for normal string searching e.g. Boyer-Moore Algorithm. I am looking to use this on Chinese characters and it doesn't seem like the same implementation would work. What would I go about doing in order to make the algorithm work on Chinese characters? • how/resources to compile a procedural language into [sql]

    - by Philip
    I am looking into the possibility/feasibility/resources for building a cross compiler which takes a procedural or Object Oriented language like C, or Java and compiling it into SQL. I understand that the advantage of SQL code is performing set operations which is fundamentally different from procedural languages which generally process 1 at a time. If anyone has done this before, or if it is thought of as too complicated to do or any other ideas/concerns/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Philip
