  • For loop from assembly to C

    - by FranXh
    I have a bomb project where I need to defuse certain phases by finding "pas phrases" that will defuse the bomb. Right now I have been working with phase_2, for which the assembly code is shown below. Phase_2 requires as an input 6 numbers, which I need to find in order to defuse this phase. I analyzed this assembly, and I came up with the C code below, that covers lines from 40101c to 401044. It is basically a for loop that makes sure that elements t[0]==t[3], t[1]==t[4] and t[2]==t[5] that the user inputs, are equal. According to my logic, the user can input any 6 numbers as long as the above condition is satisfied. Say 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 would be a valid "pas phrase". However this solution does not convince me for some reason. Am I doing something wrong? 0000000000400ffc <phase_2>: 400ffc: 48 89 5c 24 e0 mov %rbx,-0x20(%rsp) 401001: 48 89 6c 24 e8 mov %rbp,-0x18(%rsp) 401006: 4c 89 64 24 f0 mov %r12,-0x10(%rsp) 40100b: 4c 89 6c 24 f8 mov %r13,-0x8(%rsp) 401010: 48 83 ec 48 sub $0x48,%rsp 401014: 48 89 e6 mov %rsp,%rsi 401017: e8 65 0a 00 00 callq 401a81 <read_six_numbers> 40101c: 48 89 e5 mov %rsp,%rbp 40101f: 4c 8d 6c 24 0c lea 0xc(%rsp),%r13 401024: 41 bc 00 00 00 00 mov $0x0,%r12d 40102a: 48 89 eb mov %rbp,%rbx 40102d: 8b 45 0c mov 0xc(%rbp),%eax 401030: 39 45 00 cmp %eax,0x0(%rbp) 401033: 74 05 je 40103a <phase_2+0x3e> 401035: e8 2d 09 00 00 callq 401967 <_GLOBAL_RESET_> 40103a: 44 03 23 add (%rbx),%r12d 40103d: 48 83 c5 04 add $0x4,%rbp 401041: 4c 39 ed cmp %r13,%rbp 401044: 75 e4 jne 40102a <phase_2+0x2e> 401046: 45 85 e4 test %r12d,%r12d 401049: 75 05 jne 401050 <phase_2+0x54> 40104b: e8 17 09 00 00 callq 401967 <_GLOBAL_RESET_> 401050: 48 8b 5c 24 28 mov 0x28(%rsp),%rbx 401055: 48 8b 6c 24 30 mov 0x30(%rsp),%rbp 40105a: 4c 8b 64 24 38 mov 0x38(%rsp),%r12 40105f: 4c 8b 6c 24 40 mov 0x40(%rsp),%r13 401064: 48 83 c4 48 add $0x48,%rsp 401068: c3 for (int i=0; i<3; i++){ if(t[i] != t[i+3]){ explode(); } }

  • MEF and Prism integration

    - by Wasim
Hi all , I need your advice deciding on a new project architecture I'm going to implement. Can I use MEF and Prism side by side? Is it too complex to accomplish this? Can make the same stuff Prism does with MEF? Right now, two features Prism gives, but are not in MEF are Regions and the Event Aggregator. Can I do everything else with MEF, rather than Prism? Thanks in advance ...

  • Loading SQL dump before running Django tests

    - by knutin
I have a fairly complex Django project which makes it hard/impossible to use fixtures for loading data. What I would like to do is to load a database dump from the production database server after all tables has bene created by the testrunner and before the actual tests start running. I've tried various "magic" in MyTestCase.setUp(), but with no luck. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.

  • masm division overflow

    - by Help I'm in college
I'm trying divide two numbers in assembly. I'm working out of the Irvine assembly for intel computers book and I can't make division work for the life of me. Here's my code .code main PROC call division exit main ENDP division PROC mov eax, 4 mov ebx, 2 div ebx call WriteDec ret divison ENDP END main Where WriteDec should write whatever number is in the eax register (should be set to the quotient after the division call). Instead everytime I run it visual studio crashes (the program does compile however).

  • Weird Objective-C Mod Behavior

    - by coneybeare
    So I thought that negative numbers, when mod'ed should be put into positive space... I cant get this to happen in objective-c I expect this: -1 % 3 = 2 0 % 3 = 0 1 % 3 = 1 2 % 3 = 2 But get this -1 % 3 = -1 0 % 3 = 0 1 % 3 = 1 2 % 3 = 2 Why is this and is there a workaround?

  • Is daisy chaining xslt an accepted practice?

    - by Stephen
I have a situation where I think I need to daisy chain my xslt transformation (i.e. that output of one xslt transform being input into another). The first transform is rather complex with lots of xsl:choice and ancestor xpaths. My thought is to transform the xml into xml that can then be easily transformed to html. My question is 'Is this standard practice or am I missing something?' Thanks in advance. Stephen

  • Table Partitioning

    - by Ankur Gahlot
How advantageous is it to use partitioning of tables as compared to normal approach ? Is there a sort of sample case or detailed comparative analysis that could statistically ( i know this is too strong a word, but it would really help if it is illustrated by some numbers ) emphasize on the utility of the process. Thanks, Ankur

What is this? And how to solve?

  • Project summary - Source code lines

    - by MartyIX
I'm looking for a tool that would count the number of files, the number of lines (with or without comments) and possibly other statistics for my project in PHP and JavaScript. Notes: I've already found SLOCCount which seems quite nice. It requires Cygwin. Yes, I can wrote a simple script for basic information but I'm looking for something more complex. Do you know about alternatives for Windows? Thanks!

  • Berkeley DB java edition, any LGPL or BSD alternatives in Java?

    - by Ali
Hi All, I am dealing with a huge dataset consisting of key-value pairs. The queries are always in the form of range queries on the key space (keys are numbers) hence any persistent B-Tree like structure will handle the situation. I would like to use BDB-Java Edition but the product is closed source and my company doesn't want to buy BDB-JE License. I am wondering, would you please share your experience with any non-GPL java based key-value storage system. Thanks, -A

  • Returning PHP Multi-Dimension Array to Javascript/AJAX

    - by GregH
My understanding is that in order to return a complex PHP variable to Javascript, it should be done via AJAX and json_encode. Could somebody give me an actual example (both PHP and Javascript code) of this? Lets say we have the two-dim array in PHP: $twoDArr = array( array('Greg', 44, 'Owner'), array('Joe', 23, 'Renter'), array('Susan', 39, 'Owner'), array('John', 32, 'Renter) ); How would we return this to an analogous two dimensional array in javascript using json_encode?

  • How to check if string is a valid XML element name?

    - by xsaero00
I need a regex or a function in PHP that will validate a string to be a good XML element name. Form w3schools: XML elements must follow these naming rules: Names can contain letters, numbers, and other characters Names cannot start with a number or punctuation character Names cannot start with the letters xml (or XML, or Xml, etc) Names cannot contain spaces I can write a basic regex that will check for rules 1,2 and 4, but it won't account for all punctuation allowed and won't account for 3rd rule \w[\w0-9-]

  • ASP.Net MVC - What replaces events to support loose coupling?

    - by James
What feature(s) of ASP.Net MVC can replace the way events can be used in Webforms to support loosely coupled components. For example, take a simple pager control: A page number is clicked Pager fires off a "PageChange" event with the new page number This subscribing page/control received the event and handles initiating a call to fetch and bind new data. What tools are available in ASP.Net MVC to support Loose coupling Component re-usability Separation of logic for a single page/view (such a very complex "portal" type page).

Hi. Should we use de java.util.Date object in java? It has so many Deprecated methods that is a little anoying to have to use a complex method to something that should be so simples. I am using something stupid to emulate getDate() like: public static int toDayMonth (Date dt) { DateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat("dd"); String day = df.format(dt); return Integer.parseInt(day); } It has to be better way...
