  • AMP and ACMP 4.0 Now Available for More Platforms

    We released the latest Application Management Pack and Application Change Management Packs for Oracle E-Business Suite 4.0 for Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g earlier this year for Linux platforms.  This pair of packs is released as part of the Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite.  These two packs are also referred to as the Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 4.0 for OEM 11g.   • Oracle: 1 Large Server vs. 2 Smaller Servers?

    We are in the planning stages of setting up our production Oracle 10gR2 environment. Our budget gives us the ability to buy 2 processor licenses of Oracle DB Standard Edition. We have minimal experience with Oracle so I'll defer to anyone who has used it. We are trying to decide if we should set up a single dual quad-core box or 2 individual quad-core boxes in a RAC configuration. Our DB right now is about 60 GB, and at our peak, we'll have up to 150 concurrent users. Most of the big stuff is done via batch processing at night. My gut tells me that having 2 boxes in a RAC configuration can't be a bad thing because it provides a true hardware failover solution. DB stored in a shared LUN on a SAN via iSCSI. Plus if we ever need to add capacity, we already have boxes in place that can be upgraded with extra procs (I assume with zero downtime, since it's set up in a RAC config) if we add extra licenses, or RAM. Does RAC have any performance penalties? Will it add extra latency? Is there any true advantage for having dual processor boxes running these systems? If we build out the Oracle boxes with special hardware: hardware iSCSI cards, TOE NICs, will these boxes be solid? We are deploying on 64-bit Windows. So what would you do? One box or two?

  • Install driver and copying files before Installation runs

    I have created installation package for my project, but before or after installation is complete i need to install some drivers and copy some files to target machine, before my software can run. Is it possible for me to do all this action in the MSI installer setup project of visual studio 2005. One option i have explored is using autoITscript, is there a better approach than that? i feel able to do the whole thing in visual studio would be an ideal way? any suggestions? Thanks

    I do not find actual difference between these two J2EE server. From my past experience, I found out following: WL is evolving more faster than WAS. WL is more user friendly than WAS. To simply deploy a application in WAS, we need to go in deep and its difficult to find if u are new to it. I found out that WAS is slower in some machine than WL. I found out that Classloading is easier to understand and effective in WL than WAS Above all are my experiences but not actual facts. I want to know more in this respect. Please clear my doubts. If possible please provide each J2EE server's pros and cons. -Abhishek

But now I cannot uninstall. I tried to use the setup of SP0 and even of SP2 but it was not able to uninstall, by giving fatal errors when it does the preliminary checks. This means that the only option I have is format my machine? I cannot even intall a new instance, something is really corrupted. Is it a way to remove it manually?

    Hello I have the following output from a simple debug jsp: Weblogic Startup Since: Friday, October 19, 2012, 08:36:12 AM Database Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:43:44 AM Weblogic JVM Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:45:38 AM Line 1 was a recorded variable during WebLogic webapp startup. Line 2 was output from database query select sysdate from dual; Line 3 was output from java code new Date() I have checked from shell date command that line 2 output conforms with OS time. The output of line 3 was mysterious. I don't know how it comes from Java VM. On another machine with same setting, the same jsp output like this: Weblogic Startup Since: Tuesday, December 11, 2012, 02:29:06 PM Database Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:51:48 AM Weblogic JVM Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:51:50 AM Another machine: Weblogic Startup Since: Monday, December 10, 2012, 05:00:34 PM Database Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:52:03 AM Weblogic JVM Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:52:07 AM Findings: the pattern shows that the longer Weblogic startup, the larger the discrepancy of OS time with JVM time.
