  • SQL Server 2008 database timeout after delete

    - by stephenbayer
    I'm running the following statement, it is working locally with SQL Server 2008, however, there is SQL Server 2008 Express on the development server, and after the sql statement runs, I am unable to do SELECT statements on the table in which I deleted the record. Both databases were created with the same table creation scripts. "DELETE FROM [dbo].[tblMiddayMover] WITH (ROWLOCK) WHERE [idMiddayMover] = @IdMiddayMover" What reasons would this statement ever cause the database to hang. After executing that statement, the following SELECT statement causes an error. "SELECT * FROM [dbo].[tblMiddayMover] WHERE [fldActive] = 1" I get the following error: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. I can do select statements on any other table with no issues.

  • difference between where and nested queries

    - by Chris H
    I'm not able to figure out the difference between these queries. I'm pretty sure that the first one is an equi-join. I'm not sure how the second one ISN'T the same as the first. The sub query in #2 selects all Ids from S, and then it returns all R's that also have those ID's, no? SELECT R.cname FROM R, S, WHERE R.Id = S.Id SELECT R.cname FROM R WHERE R.Id IN (SELECT S.Id FROM S)

  • How can I decrease time opening myisam table in an "union all" of the same table??

    - by parm.95
    I have a myisam table with 2.5M rows, I use an union all to get my results as following: (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=1 LIMIT 10) UNION ALL (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=2 LIMIT 10) ... UNION ALL (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=25 LIMIT 10) the time to opening the table t is about 6ms. With a single request: SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=1 LIMIT 10 the time is about 1ms. What I don't understand is why mysql spend more time to the same table in union all. It should recognize that is the same table and so just opening at the first union. Does anybody can help me to decrease the time for opening table in a "union all"? Thanks in advance!

  • Cant use with clauses in find_by_sql

    - by PaulMurrayCbr
    Activerecord seems to be peeking at my sql and getting it wrong. I am finding that this: sql = " select etn.* from edittree_name etn where id = #{id}" Name.find_by_sql(sql) works, but this: sql = " with pp as ( select * from dual) select etn.* from edittree_name etn where id = #{id}" Name.find_by_sql(sql) Gives me a "undefined method `each' for 1:Fixnum". Any clues? Is there a "find_by_raw_sql (and don't try to understand it yourself)" method?

  • How to connect two query results?

    - by nijansen
    I want to retrieve all ids within a certain timespan. The timestamps however, are stored in a different table: Table A has column my_id Table B has columns my_id, timestamp I would want something like SELECT id, time FROM (SELECT my_id AS id FROM A) q1, (SELECT timestamp AS time FROM B WHERE my_id = id) q2 ; But how can I get the value of id within a different subquery? Is there an elegant solution for this problem?

However if one of those dont exist or are not true then I just want to add the elements whose bool value is true! Below is my code bool hasElement1 = ( from Playlist in loaded.Descendants("Node") select Playlist.Descendants("Element1").Any() ).Single(); bool hasElement2 = ( from Playlist in loaded.Descendants("Node") select Playlist.Descendants("Element2").Any() ).Single(); bool hasElement3 = ( from Playlist in loaded.Descendants("Node") select Playlist.Descendants("Element2").Any() ).Single(); var finalData = from x in loaded.Descendants("Node") select new { Element1 = x.Descendants("Element1").First().Value, Element2 = x.Descendants("Element2").First().Value, Element3 = x.Descendants("Element3").First().Value, };

  • dynamic directives in angularjs

  • Difference between INSERT INTO and INSERT ALL INTO

    - by emily soto
    While I was inserting some records in table i found that.. INSERT INTO T_CANDYBAR_DATA SELECT CONSUMER_ID,CANDYBAR_NAME,SURVEY_YEAR,GENDER,1 AS STAT_TYPE,OVERALL_RATING FROM CANDYBAR_CONSUMPTION_DATA UNION SELECT CONSUMER_ID,CANDYBAR_NAME,SURVEY_YEAR,GENDER,2 AS STAT_TYPE,NUMBER_BARS_CONSUMED FROM CANDYBAR_CONSUMPTION_DATA; 79 rows inserted. I have read somewhere that INSERT ALL INTO automatically unions then why those difference is showing.

  • JQuery .each() backwards

    - by Jack Mills
    Hi, I'm using JQuery to select some elements on a page and then move them around in the DOM. The problem I'm having is I need to select all the elements in the reverse order that JQuery naturally wants to select them. For example: <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2</li> <li>Item 3</li> <li>Item 4</li> <li>Item 5</li> </ul> I want to select all the li items and use the .each() command on them but I want to start with Item 5, then Item 4 etc. Is this possible? Thanks

  • which one is a faster/better sql practice?

    - by artsince
    Suppose I have a 2 column table (id, flag) and id is sequential. I expect this table to contain a lot of records. I want to periodically select the first row not flagged and update it. Some of the records on the way may have already been flagged, so I want to skip them. Does it make more sense if I store the last id I flagged and use it in my select statement, like select * from mytable where id > my_last_id order by id asc limit 1 or simply get the first unflagged row, like: select * from mytable where flagged = 'F' order by id asc limit 1 Thank you!

  • Is a JOIN more/less efficient than EXISTS IN when no data is needed from the second table?

    - by twpc
    I need to look up all households with orders. I don't care about the data of the order at all, just that it exists. Is it more efficient to say something like this: SELECT HouseholdID, LastName, FirstName, Phone FROM Households INNER JOIN Orders ON Orders.HouseholdID = Households.HouseholdID or this: SELECT HouseholdID, LastName, FirstName, Phone FROM Households WHERE EXISTS (SELECT HouseholdID FROM Orders WHERE Orders.HouseholdID = Households.HouseholdID)

  • Delete from empty table taking forver

    - by Will
    Hello, I have an empty table that previously had a large amount of rows. The table has about 10 columns and indexes on many of them, as well as indexes on multiple columns. DELETE FROM item WHERE 1=1 This takes approximately 40 seconds to complete SELECT * FROM item this takes 4 seconds. The execution plan of SELECT * FROM ITEM shows the following; SQL> select * from midas_item; no rows selected Elapsed: 00:00:04.29 Execution Plan ---------------------------------------------------------- 0 SELECT STATEMENT Optimizer=CHOOSE (Cost=19 Card=123 Bytes=73 80) 1 0 TABLE ACCESS (FULL) OF 'MIDAS_ITEM' (Cost=19 Card=123 Byte s=7380) Statistics ---------------------------------------------------------- 0 recursive calls 0 db block gets 5263 consistent gets 5252 physical reads 0 redo size 1030 bytes sent via SQL*Net to client 372 bytes received via SQL*Net from client 1 SQL*Net roundtrips to/from client 0 sorts (memory) 0 sorts (disk) 0 rows processed any idea why these would be taking so long and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!!
