  • rails gem share_counts GET method on object?

    created the first rails app! excinting! for two weeks now I did Zombie, rubymonk etc. I love it! I used scaffold form url:string and included the gem share_counts. rails c: f = form.first ShareCounts.twitter f.url works! but... I have trouble to write the controller and the view! For you experienced railies this is probably a silly question, and probably only 5 lines of code, but for me thats a big step learning RoR! I am very thankful if someone could help how I can show the count next to the "url" field. Thank you so much!!! joh

  • Problem with thumbnails after newly added - PHP on-the-fly method

    Hey again... to those that may have read my previous question that got solved a couple minutes ago .< The on-the-fly php script works perfectly, but when I went to upload new images into a gallery which I made myself, the images are resized to 150 x 150 for what I wanted... however, when it comes to new images being added it is all black... As you can see the three black images that were uploaded to the folder and the directory added to the database. What is causing this? If I view the source, the code is fine... the while loop in the PHP generates an output like this: <div class="view-wrap" id="photo-10"> <div class="view-icon"> <div class="img-label"> <a href="#" id="10" class="delete"><img src="img/small-delete.png" /> Delete</a> </div> <a href="img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg"> <img src="image.php?dir=img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg" alt="" width="110" height="110" /> </a> </div> </div> An example of one block. If I view the source (in Firefox) and click on the image.php?dir=img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg by exmaple, I can see the thumbnail at it's 150 x 150 size but in the layout, it shows a black thumbnail... Does anyone know why this is happening?

    I have just been watching the Stanford iPhone lecture online from Jan 2010 and I noticed that the guy from Apple keeps referring to getting an objects class name using "className" e.g. NSArray *myArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"ONE", @"TWO", nil]; NSLog(@"I am an %@ and have %d items", [myArray className], [myArray count]); However, I can't get this to work, the closest I can come up with it to use class, is className wrong, did it get removed, just curious?     I am looking for a system to parallelise a large suite of tests in a Ruby on Rails app (using rspec, cucumber) that works using JRuby. Cucumber is actually not too bad, but the full rSpec suite currently takes nearly 20 minutes to run. The systems I can find (hydra, parallel-test) look like they use forking, which isn't the ideal solution for the JRuby environment.

    I am attempting to hash and keep(the hash) an object of type IEnumerable<anotherobject> which has about a 1000 entries. I'll be generating another such object, but this time I'd like to check for any changes in the values of the entries using the hash codes of the two objects. Basically, I was wondering if GetHashCode() is apt for this, both from a performance perspective and reliability perspective (getting different values for different object values and same values for same object values, always). If I have to override it, what would be a good way to do so, does it always depend on the type of anotherobject and what Equals means when comparing two anotherobjects? Is there a generic way to do it? This concern is because my object can be quite big.

    Scenario I have a C# Windows Service that essentially subscribes to some events and if anything is triggered by the events, it carries out a few tasks. The Thing... ....is that these events are monitoring processes, which I need to restart at certain times of the day. Question What's the best way I can go about performing this task at an exact time? Thoughts so far are: 1)To use a timer that checks what time it is every few minutes. 2)Something that isn't a timer and doesn't suck as an implementation. Help greatly appreciated.

  • Why is sqrt() not a method on Float?

    In Ruby everything is an object. That's why I don't understand why we have the Math module. It seems to me that most (all?) of the functions in the Math module should have been methods on the numeric types like Integer, Float and so on. E.g. instead of Math.sqrt(5) it would make more sense to have 5.sqrt The same goes for sin, cos, tan, log10 and so on. Does anyone know why all these functions ended up in the Math module?

For ex: Ex1: void* func1() { void* p_ref = NULL; //function scope static variable static int var1 = 2; p_ref = &var1; return p_ref; } Ex2: //file scope static variable static int var2 = 2; void* func2() { void* p_ref = NULL; var2 = 3; p_ref = &var2; return p_ref; } So in the above two cases what is the difference apart from the fact that var1 is function scope and var2 is file scope.     Regarding over-releasing. Say I have a instance variable defined in Test.h NSString *mystring; In my implementation Test.m I do not initialize the variable mystring anywhere. But I release it in dealloc: -(void)dealloc { [mystring release]; } Is this now over-released? I've been doing the following in dealloc to avoid any issues, however, is this really necessary? -(void)dealloc { if (mystring) [mystring release]; } It seems that [nil release] shouldn't do anything, can someone verify this with class members?

  • Best method to search hierarchical data

    I'm looking at building a facility which allows querying for data with hierarchical filtering. I have a few ideas how I'm going to go about it but was wondering if there are any recommendations or suggestions that might be more efficient. As an example imagine that a user is searching for a job. The job areas would be as follows. 1: Scotland 2: --- West Central 3: ------ Glasgow 4: ------ Etc 5: --- North East 6: ------ Ayrshire 7: ------ Etc A user can search specific (i.e. Glasgow) or in a larger area (i.e. Scotland). The two approaches I am considering are: keep a note of children in the database for each record (i.e. cat 1 would have 2, 3, 4 in its children field) and query against that record with a SELECT * FROM Jobs WHERE Category IN Areas.childrenField. Use a recursive function to find all results who have a relation to the selected area. The problems I see from both are: Holding this data in the db will mean having to keep track of all changes to structure. Recursion is slow and inefficent. Any ideas, suggestion or recommendations on the best approach? I'm using C# ASP.NET with MSSQL 2005 DB.

I'm not really sure how to create the array or object to pass on as $myParam since im no expert with PHP either.

    When I'm making asmx web service calls from Silverlight, is there any way to have the (generated) SoapClient objects modify the address that they call the service on? Specifically, I'd like to tack on a QueryString value onto each call that the service makes. So if I have DataService.SilverlightServiceSoapClient C = new DataService.SilverlightServiceSoapClient(); Is there any way to do something like: C.Address += "?Foo=Bar"; Which would allow me to, from my WebMethod, say: HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["foo"]; Obviously I can modify my WebMethods to take this value in as a parameter, but I'd like to avoid doing that if possible.

    Let's say I have remote interface A: @Remote public interface A { public Response doSomething(); } And implementation: @Stateless public class B implements A { public BeeResponse doSomething() {...} } Where: BeeResponse extends Response. Response is located in the EJB-API jar and BeeResponse is in the implementation jar. Response and BeeResponse have different serialVersionUID. My assumption is that the unmarshalling of the response from B will fail, am I correct?

  • getjson alternative method for variable

    I made a script which gets the data from a json file and parse it. It worked on a webserver. But now I have to find a solution to get it work on a local file (file:///C:/xampp/htdocs/script/index.html) instead on a server. It only works in FF: $.getJSON('data2.json', function(data) { $.each(data.selection_form.entities, function(i,name){ ...do something }); }); Any ideas? A local webserver is not a solution.
