  • Android png images big in memory

    - by taivo
    i have an application in android that has an imageflipper. Problem is, after about 8 images loaded to memory, i get an out of memory error. Well, i tried to do dynamic image loading, so that if the user flips 2 images, i'll load next 2 to memory and delete 2 first ones. It kind of works, but it ugly and i have trouble when user flips images back(imageflipper.showprevious()), i can't really shift all images and place new images to the beginning. My question is, is there a better way to do this kind of stuff? Resizing images didn't really help.

  • how to view all images in android's built- in gallery from a php page

    - by ramz
    Hi, I am developing an application to display all the images in android's built-in gallery in to a php page. I posted the uri(content://media/extrenal/images/media) of the gallery images to the php page. I was not able to recreate images by using webView function loadUrl(). Should i need to upload the whole gallery to another directory and display the images? Or passing the bitmap itself will do? Please suggest me an idea to solve the problem.

  • How to fork my android app?

    - by eidylon
    So I've written my first Android app, ... and want to be able to provide both free and paid versions. I wrote and compiled it in Eclipse on Windows. I'm wondering if it is possible, and how I would go about doing so, to have separate compile jobs somehow, so that I can maintain my free and paid versions from one set of source code, and just leave out certain bits for the paid version, but keep the main source the same. What are the recommended ways/best practices for devving a paid and free version of the same app from one set of source? Is it even possible?

  • combining two png files in android

    - by John
    I have two png image files that I would like my android app to combine problematically into one png image file and am wondering if it is possible to do so? if so, what I would like to do is just overlay them on each other to create one file. the idea behind this is that I have a handful of png files, some with a portion of the image on the left with the rest transparent and the others with an image on the right and the rest transparent. and based on user input it will combine the two to make one file to display. (and i cant just display the two images side by side, they need to be one file) is this possible and how so?

  • Is there a way to route all traffic from Android through a proxy/tunnel to my Tomato router?

    - by endolith
    I'd like to be able to connect my Android phone to public Wi-Fi points with unencrypted connections, but People can see what I'm doing by intercepting my radio transmissions People who own the access point can see what I'm doing. There are tools like WeFi and probably others to automatically connect to access points, but I don't trust random APs. I'd like all my traffic to go through an encrypted tunnel to my home router, and from there out to the Internet. I've done such tunnels from other computers with SSH/SOCKS and PPTP before. Is there any way to do this with Android? I've asked the same question on Force Close, so I'll change this question to be about both sides of the tunnel. More specifically: My phone now has CyanogenMod 4.2.3 My router currently has Tomato Version 1.25 I'm willing to change the router firmware, but I was having issues with DD-WRT disconnecting, which is why I'm using Tomato. Some possible solutions: SSH with dynamic SOCKS proxy: Android supposedly supports this through ConnectBot, but I don't know how to get it to route all traffic. Tomato supports this natively. I've been using this with MyEntunnel for my web browsing at work. Requires setting up each app to go through the proxy, though. PPTP: Android supports this natively. Tomato does not support this, unless you get the jyavenard mod and compile it? I previously used PPTP for web browsing at work and in China because it's native in Windows and DD-WRT. After a while I started having problems with it, then I started having problems with DD-WRT, so I switched to the SSH tunnel instead. Also it supposedly has security flaws, but I don't understand how big of a problem it is. IPSec L2TP: Android (phone) and Windows (work/China) both support this natively I don't know of a router that does. I could run it on my computer using openswan, but then there are two points of failure. OpenVPN: CyanogenMod apparently includes this, and now has an entry to create a new OpenVPN in the normal VPN interface, but I have no idea how to configure it. TunnelDroid apparently handles some of this. Future versions will have native support in the VPN settings? Tomato does not support this, but there are mods that do? I don't know how to configure this, either. TomatoVPN roadkill mod SgtPepperKSU mod Thor mod I could also run a VPN server on my desktop, I guess, though that's less reliable and presumably slower than running it in the router itself. I could change the router firmware, but I'm wary of more fundamental things breaking. Tomato has been problem-free for the regular stuff. Related: Anyone set up a SSH tunnel to their (rooted) G1 for browsing?

  • Wrong item checked when filtering ListView in android

    - by aspartame
    I have a ListView with multiple choice entries where some are checked from the beginning using setItemChecked(position, true); I combine this with the filtering option setTextFilterEnabled(true) so it's easy to find a specific entry in the list. The problem is that when I filter the list the entries switch position in the list view. Take for example three entries: 'A', 'B' and 'C' where 'C' is checked beforehand (i.e. the entry at position 3 in the list). When I type a 'C' on the keyboard, only the 'C' entry is displayed (as intended). Now 'C' is not checked anymore, since the entry has moved from the checked position 3 to the unchecked position 1 in the list. This behavior leads to some not very welcome effects in the app. Is there a way to "move the selection with the filtering", i.e. bind the checked state to the entry and not to its initial position in the list? Or do I need to find a new approach? Thanks, Linus

  • Soft keyboard "del" key fails in EditText on Gallery widget

    - by droidful
    Hi, I am developing an application in Eclipse build ID 20090920-1017 using android SDK 2.2 and testing on a Google Nexus One. For the purposes of the tests below I am using the IME "Android keyboard" on a non-rooted phone. I have an EditText widget which exhibits some very strange behavior. I can type text, and then press the "del" key to delete that text; but after I enter a 'space' character, the "del" key will no longer remove characters before that space character. An example speaks a thousand words, so consider the following two incredibly simple applications... Example 1: An EditText in a LinearLayout widget: package com.example.linear.edit; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.ViewGroup.LayoutParams; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.Gallery; import android.widget.LinearLayout; public class LinearEdit extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); LinearLayout layout = new LinearLayout(getApplicationContext()); layout.setLayoutParams(new Gallery.LayoutParams(Gallery.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, Gallery.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT)); EditText edit = new EditText(getApplicationContext()); layout.addView(edit, new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); setContentView(layout); } } Run the above application, enter text "edit example", then press the "del" key several times until the entire sentence is deleted. Everything Works fine. Now consider example 2: An EditText in a Gallery widget: package com.example.gallery.edit; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.view.ViewGroup; import android.view.ViewGroup.LayoutParams; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.Gallery; import android.widget.LinearLayout; public class GalleryEdit extends Activity { private final String[] galleryData = {"string1", "string2", "string3"}; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Gallery gallery = new Gallery(getApplicationContext()); gallery.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter(getApplicationContext(), android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, galleryData) { @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { LinearLayout layout = new LinearLayout(getApplicationContext()); layout.setLayoutParams(new Gallery.LayoutParams(Gallery.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, Gallery.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT)); EditText edit = new EditText(getApplicationContext()); layout.addView(edit, new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); return layout; } }); setContentView(gallery); } } Run the above application, enter text "edit example", then press the "del" key several times. If you are getting the same problem as me then you will find that you can't deleted past the 'space' character. All is not well. If anyone could shed some light on this issue I would be most appreciative. Regards

  • Android: How do I make a video splash screen repeat until webview finishes loading the url?

    - by Nikoli4
    I would like to make a small video (about 4 seconds) repeat until webview finishes loading the desired URL in the background. Right now the video plays once, then a blank black screen comes up until the page loads. I'm still pretty new to this... Thanks in advance for any help! Sorry for the EDITED stuff, but it was necessary. Here is my splash java import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Intent; import android.media.MediaPlayer; import android.media.MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.VideoView; public class Splash extends Activity implements OnCompletionListener { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.splash); VideoView video = (VideoView) findViewById(R.id.videoView); video.setVideoPath("android.resource://com.EDITED/raw/" + R.raw.splash); video.start(); video.setOnCompletionListener(this); } @Override public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mp) { Intent intent = new Intent(this, EDITEDWebActivity.class); startActivity(intent); finish(); } }

  • Android CursorAdapters, ListViews and background threads

    - by MattC
    This application I've been working on has databases with multiple megabytes of data to sift through. A lot of the activities are just ListViews descending through various levels of data within the databases until we reach "documents", which is just HTML to be pulled from the DB(s) and displayed on the phone. The issue I am having is that some of these activities need to have the ability to search through the databases by capturing keystrokes and re-running the query with a "like %blah%" in it. This works reasonably quickly except when the user is first loading the data and when the user first enters a keystroke. I am using a ResourceCursorAdapter and I am generating the cursor in a background thread, but in order to do a listAdapter.changeCursor(), I have to use a Handler to post it to the main UI thread. This particular call is then freezing the UI thread just long enough to bring up the dreaded ANR dialog. I'm curious how I can offload this to a background thread totally so the user interface remains responsive and we don't have ANR dialogs popping up. Just for full disclosure, I was originally returning an ArrayList of custom model objects and using an ArrayAdapter, but (understandably) the customer pointed out it was bad memory-manangement and I wasn't happy with the performance anyways. I'd really like to avoid a solution where I'm generating huge lists of objects and then doing a listAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged/Invalidated() Here is the code in question: private Runnable filterDrugListRunnable = new Runnable() { public void run() { if (filterLock.tryLock() == false) return; cur = ActivityUtils.getIndexItemCursor(DrugListActivity.this); if (cur == null || forceRefresh == true) { cur = docDb.getItemCursor(selectedIndex.getIndexId(), filter); ActivityUtils.setIndexItemCursor(DrugListActivity.this, cur); forceRefresh = false; } updateHandler.post(new Runnable() { public void run() { listAdapter.changeCursor(cur); } }); filterLock.unlock(); updateHandler.post(hideProgressRunnable); updateHandler.post(updateListRunnable); } };

  • Fragment method and socket.io

    - by Tolgay Toklar
    I have a method,this method updates an array list in fragment.I can call this method in main activity like this public void getFromUser(String message) { addMessageToFragment("ok"); } public void addMessageToFragment(String message) { Log.w("Step 1",message); frgObj.addMessageToList("asd"); } getFromUser is calling from fragment(when user presses the button) this is working as well.But I am using socket.io in my app,when I try to call this method from socket.io,app is not working. public void on(String event, IOAcknowledge ack, Object... args) { try{ addMessageToFragment("ok"); } catch (JSONException e) {} } When this callback function calls,app is giving this errors: 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): io.socket.SocketIOException: Exception was thrown in on(String, JSONObject[]). 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): Message was: 5:::{"name":"listele","args":[{"mesaj":"123","gonderen":"781722165-tolgay007-DKSMIcIYGahPuKXriM83","alici":"tolgay007","blck_id":"781722165-tolgay007","out_username":"Anony-781722","ars_status":1,"longinf":"3aqghef","a_status":1}]} 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at io.socket.IOConnection.transportMessage(IOConnection.java:702) 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at io.socket.WebsocketTransport.onMessage(WebsocketTransport.java:82) 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at org.java_websocket.client.WebSocketClient.onWebsocketMessage(WebSocketClient.java:361) 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at org.java_websocket.WebSocketImpl.deliverMessage(WebSocketImpl.java:565) 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at org.java_websocket.WebSocketImpl.decodeFrames(WebSocketImpl.java:331) 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at org.java_websocket.WebSocketImpl.decode(WebSocketImpl.java:152) 08-19 11:57:24.813: W/System.err(4962): at org.java_websocket.client.WebSocketClient.interruptableRun(WebSocketClient.java:247) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at org.java_websocket.client.WebSocketClient.run(WebSocketClient.java:193) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:841) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): Caused by: android.view.ViewRootImpl$CalledFromWrongThreadException: Only the original thread that created a view hierarchy can touch its views. 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewRootImpl.checkThread(ViewRootImpl.java:6094) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewRootImpl.focusableViewAvailable(ViewRootImpl.java:2800) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.ViewGroup.focusableViewAvailable(ViewGroup.java:650) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.View.setFlags(View.java:8878) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.view.View.setFocusableInTouchMode(View.java:6114) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.widget.AdapterView.checkFocus(AdapterView.java:718) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.widget.AdapterView$AdapterDataSetObserver.onChanged(AdapterView.java:813) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.widget.AbsListView$AdapterDataSetObserver.onChanged(AbsListView.java:6280) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.database.DataSetObservable.notifyChanged(DataSetObservable.java:37) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.widget.BaseAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged(BaseAdapter.java:50) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged(ArrayAdapter.java:286) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at com.impact.ribony.ConversationFragment.addMessageToList(ConversationFragment.java:91) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at com.impact.ribony.MainActivity.addMessageToFragment(MainActivity.java:344) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at com.impact.ribony.MainActivity$2.on(MainActivity.java:183) 08-19 11:57:24.823: W/System.err(4962): at io.socket.IOConnection.on(IOConnection.java:908) 08-19 11:57:24.883: W/System.err(4962): at io.socket.IOConnection.transportMessage(IOConnection.java:697) I didn't understand this error.What can be cause this error ?

  • Django filter vs exclude

    - by Enrico
    Is there a difference between filter and exclude in django? If I have self.get_query_set().filter(modelField=x) and I want to add another criteria, is there a meaningful difference between to following two lines of code? self.get_query_set().filter(user__isnull=False, modelField=x) self.get_query_set().filter(modelField=x).exclude(user__isnull=True) is one considered better practice or are they the same in both function and performance?

    - by Patrick
    hi, DRUPAL question. I'm using Views, with an exposed filter (Taxonomy). I've downloaded the "better exposed filter" module to display it as checkbox list. a Now, how can I order the tags in the filter list ? "Views Sort" is not the solution because I only can order articles but not the filter items!! I want to add an option (checkbox) for the customer to order the tags alphabetically or leave them in the default order. thanks

  • how to debug "deep" crashes in Android?

    - by eerok512
    Hi All, I've been trying to debug an android crash that is occurring without a Java Stack Trace... Java Stack Trace bugs are very easy for me to fix... but this bug I'm getting seems to be crashing inside the "NDK" or whatever it is the deep internals of Android are called... I've made no modifications to the NDK btw... I just dunno what else to call that layer hehe. Anyway I'm mainly looking for advice on deep-debug methods, rather than help with this specific problem... because I doubt I can post all the source code involved... so really I just need to know how to set breakpoints at the deep layers or whatever other methods there are to trace deep-crashes to their source... so I will briefly describe the bug and then post a LogCat. I have an app with 7 Activities Activity_INTRO Activity_EULA Activity_MAIN Activity_Contact Activity_News Activity_Library Activity_More INTRO is the initiating one... it fades in some company logos... after displaying them for a set time it jumps to the EULA activity... after the user accepts the EULA, it jumps to MAIN... MAIN then creates a TabHost and populates it with the 4 remaining activities now heres the thing... when I click on say, the More tab of the TabHost, the app pauses for a few seconds and then hard-crashes... no java stack trace, but an actual ASM level trace with the registers and IP and stack... the same thing occurs no matter which tab I select, Contact, News, Library, More... all of them crash with the same hard-crash if however I set the manifest to start the app at Activity_MAIN, bypassing the INTRO and EULA, then these crashes do not occur... so something is lingering from those opening activities that is somehow hosing the TabHost'ed Activities... and I'm wondering what the hell that could be... because I'm using finish() on those activites when they need to jump... in fact here is how I'm doing it let me know if you see any bugs: when jumping from INTRO to EULA I do: //Display the EULA Intent newIntent = new Intent (avi, Activity_EULA.class); startActivity (newIntent); finish(); and EULA to MAIN: Intent newIntent = new Intent (this, Activity_Main.class); startActivity (newIntent); finish(); anyway, here is the hard crash log... please let me know if there is some way I can reverse engineer either /system/lib/libcutils.so or /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so, because I think the crash is happening in one of them... i think its happening in the libandroid_runtime in fact.... anyway on to the log: 12-25 00:56:07.322: INFO/DEBUG(551): *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** 12-25 00:56:07.332: INFO/DEBUG(551): Build fingerprint: 'generic/sdk/generic/:1.5/CUPCAKE/150240:eng/test-keys' 12-25 00:56:07.362: INFO/DEBUG(551): pid: 722, tid: 723 >>> com.killerapps.chokes <<< 12-25 00:56:07.362: INFO/DEBUG(551): signal 11 (SIGSEGV), fault addr 00000004 12-25 00:56:07.362: INFO/DEBUG(551): r0 00000004 r1 40021800 r2 00000004 r3 ad3296c5 12-25 00:56:07.372: INFO/DEBUG(551): r4 00000000 r5 00000000 r6 ad342da5 r7 41039fb8 12-25 00:56:07.372: INFO/DEBUG(551): r8 100ffcb0 r9 41039fb0 10 41e014a0 fp 00001071 12-25 00:56:07.382: INFO/DEBUG(551): ip ad35b874 sp 100ffc98 lr ad3296cf pc afb045a8 cpsr 00000010 12-25 00:56:07.552: INFO/DEBUG(551): #00 pc 000045a8 /system/lib/libcutils.so 12-25 00:56:07.572: INFO/DEBUG(551): #01 lr ad3296cf /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so 12-25 00:56:07.582: INFO/DEBUG(551): stack: 12-25 00:56:07.582: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc58 00000000 12-25 00:56:07.592: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc5c 001c5278 [heap] 12-25 00:56:07.602: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc60 000000da 12-25 00:56:07.602: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc64 0016c778 [heap] 12-25 00:56:07.602: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc68 100ffcc8 12-25 00:56:07.602: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc6c 001c5278 [heap] 12-25 00:56:07.612: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc70 427d1ac0 12-25 00:56:07.612: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc74 000000c1 12-25 00:56:07.612: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc78 40021800 12-25 00:56:07.612: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc7c 000000c2 12-25 00:56:07.612: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc80 00000000 12-25 00:56:07.612: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc84 00000000 12-25 00:56:07.622: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc88 00000000 12-25 00:56:07.622: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc8c 00000000 12-25 00:56:07.622: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc90 df002777 12-25 00:56:07.632: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc94 e3a070ad 12-25 00:56:07.632: INFO/DEBUG(551): #00 100ffc98 00000000 12-25 00:56:07.632: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffc9c ad3296cf /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so 12-25 00:56:07.632: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffca0 100ffcd0 12-25 00:56:07.642: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffca4 ad342db5 /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so 12-25 00:56:07.642: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffca8 410a79d0 12-25 00:56:07.642: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcac ad00e3b8 /system/lib/libdvm.so 12-25 00:56:07.652: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcb0 410a79d0 12-25 00:56:07.652: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcb4 0016bac0 [heap] 12-25 00:56:07.662: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcb8 ad342da5 /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so 12-25 00:56:07.662: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcbc 40021800 12-25 00:56:07.662: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcc0 410a79d0 12-25 00:56:07.662: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcc4 afe39dd0 12-25 00:56:07.662: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcc8 100ffcd0 12-25 00:56:07.662: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffccc ad040a8d /system/lib/libdvm.so 12-25 00:56:07.672: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcd0 41039fb0 12-25 00:56:07.672: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcd4 420000f8 12-25 00:56:07.672: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcd8 ad342da5 /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so 12-25 00:56:07.672: INFO/DEBUG(551): 100ffcdc 100ffd48 12-25 00:56:07.852: DEBUG/dalvikvm(722): GC freed 367 objects / 15144 bytes in 210ms 12-25 00:56:08.081: DEBUG/InetAddress(722): www.akillerapp.com: 74.86.47.202 (family 2, proto 6) 12-25 00:56:08.242: DEBUG/dalvikvm(722): GC freed 62 objects / 2328 bytes in 122ms 12-25 00:56:08.771: DEBUG/dalvikvm(722): GC freed 245 objects / 11744 bytes in 179ms 12-25 00:56:09.131: INFO/ActivityManager(577): Process com.killerapps.chokes (pid 722) has died. 12-25 00:56:09.171: INFO/WindowManager(577): WIN DEATH: Window{43719320 com.killerapps.chokes/com.killerapps.chokes.Activity_Main paused=false} 12-25 00:56:09.251: INFO/DEBUG(551): debuggerd committing suicide to free the zombie! 12-25 00:56:09.291: DEBUG/Zygote(553): Process 722 terminated by signal (11) 12-25 00:56:09.311: INFO/DEBUG(781): debuggerd: Jun 30 2009 17:00:51 12-25 00:56:09.331: WARN/InputManagerService(577): Got RemoteException sending setActive(false) notification to pid 722 uid 10020

  • How do I redirect to the current page in Servlet Filter?

    - by JeffJak
    I have a page say: /myapp/test.jsp?queryString=Y. The filter needs to redirect to current page. It should go to /myapp/test.jsp (without the query string). The below seems to bring it to to the context root: /myapp. I am running in WAS6.1. public void doFilter(ServletRequest req, ServletResponse resp, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException { HttpServletRequest httpReq = (HttpServletRequest) req; HttpServletResponse httpResp = (HttpServletResponse) resp; { boolean blnNeedToRedirect = true; if (blnNeedToRedirect) { httpResp.sendRedirect("."); return; } chain.doFilter(req, resp); }

  • How to code an efficient blacklist filter function in php?

    - by achairapart
    So, I have three arrays like this: [items] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => someid [title] => sometitle [author] => someauthor ... ) ... ) and also a string with comma separated words to blacklist: $blacklist = "some,words,to,blacklist"; Now I need to match these words with (as they can be one of) id, title, author and show results accordingly. I was thinking of a function like this: $pattern = '('.strtr($blacklist, ",", "|").')'; // should return (some|words|etc) foreach ($items as $item) { if ( !preg_match($pattern,$item['id']) || !preg_match($pattern,$item['title']) || !preg_match($pattern,$item['author']) ) { // show item } } and I wonder if this is the most efficient way to filter the arrays or I should use something with strpos() or filter_var with FILTER_VALIDATE_REGEXP ... Note that this function is repeated per 3 arrays. However, each array will not contain more than 50 items.

  • Setting values and display Text in Android Spinner

    - by kaibuki
    Hi, I need help in setting up value and display text in spinner. as per now I am populating my spinner by array adapter e.g mySpinner.setAdapter(myAdapter); and as far as I know after doing this the display text and the value of spinner at same position is same. The other attribute that I can get from spinner is the position on the item. now in my case I want to make spinner like the drop down box, which we have in .NET. which holds a text and value. where as text is displayed and value is at back end. so if I change drop down box , I can either use its selected text or value. but its not happening in android spinner case. For Example: Text Value Cat 10 Mountain 5 Stone 9 Fish 14 River 13 Loin 17 so from above array I am only displaying non-living objects text, and what i want is that when user select them I get there value i.e. like when Mountain selected i get 5 I hope this example made my question a bit more clear... thankx

  • Android ListView item highlight programmatically

    - by dhomes
    Hi all, I know it's been asked around but I haven't found quite the answer yet (new to Android so sorry about the ignorance) my app's launch Activity has an EditText (called searchbox) , a ListView (designations) and a Spinner (types) I use the EditText as a searchbox, I have to pass the string through a custom editing to make searching more flexible. After that I match that against the closest approximation I find in 'designations' and do designations.setSelection(j); As expected, this sets the desired item to the top of designations. But I can find a way to highlight it via code. NOW, i do know that if the device is in touch mode the highlighting of a selected item won't occur. So the last 4 lines of my searchbox's onTextChanged event are: designations.setFocusable(true); designations.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); if (match==true) designations.setSelection(j); if (st.length()==0) designations.setSelection(0); to no avail. now, i don't have any code on searchbox's afterTextChanged(Editable s); so could anyone give me a clue on this? regards ~dh

  • Android- Using DexClassLoader to load apk file.

    - by Craig O Connor
    Hi guys, I've hit a bit of a wall. Any help would be appreciated. I have an app that I want to use DexClassLoader to load another apk file. Here is my code: DexClassLoader dLoader = new DexClassLoader("/sdcard/download/test.apk","/sdcard/download",null,ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getParent()); Class calledClass = dLoader.loadClass("com.test.classname"); Intent it=new Intent(this, calledClass); it.setClassName("com.test", "com.test.classname"); startActivity(it); Now I had already installed test.apk so when I ran the above code it worked fine and launched the application. However I want to be able to run this without test.apk being installed already (as that would defeat the entire point of the application) . So I uninstalled it and when I ran the my app again I get this error: android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: Unable to find explicit activity class {com.test/com.test.classname}; have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifest.xml. So I'm a bit stumped here. This activity is declared in the Manifest of the apk I am trying to run. I can't declare it in my applications Manifest. Any ideas? Thanks, Craig

  • OutofMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget (Android)

    - by Chrispix
    Getting an Exception in the BitmapFactory. Not sure what is the issue. (Well I can guess the issue, but not sure why its happening) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeFile(BitmapFactory.java:295) My code is pretty straight forward. I defined an XML layout w/ a default image. I try to load a bm on the SDCard (if present - it is). If not it shows the default image. Anyway.. Here is code : public class showpicture extends Activity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { /** Remove menu/status bar **/ requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); final Window win = getWindow(); win.setFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_FULLSCREEN,WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_FULLSCREEN); Bitmap bm; super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.showpicture); try { ImageView mImageButton = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.displayPicture); bm = Bitmap.createScaledBitmap(BitmapFactory.decodeFile("/sdcard/dcim/Camera/20091018203339743.jpg"),100, 100, true); parkImageButton.setImageBitmap(bm); } catch (IllegalArgumentException ex) { Log.d("MYAPP",ex.getMessage()); } catch (IllegalStateException ex) { It fails on the bm=Bitmap.createScaledBitmap any thoughts? I did some research on the forums, and it pointed to this post I just don't know why it is not working. Any help would be great! Thanks, Chris.

  • Android ASync task ProgressDialog isn't showing until background thread finishes

    - by jackbot
    I've got an Android activity which grabs an RSS feed from a URL, and uses the SAX parser to stick each item from the XML into an array. This all works fine but, as expected, takes a bit of time, so I want to use AsyncActivity to do it in the background. My code is as follows: class AddTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Item, Void> { protected void onPreExecute() { pDialog = ProgressDialog.show(MyActivity.this,"Please wait...", "Retrieving data ...", true); } protected Void doInBackground(Void... unused) { items = parser.getItems(); for (Item it : items) { publishProgress(it); } return(null); } protected void onProgressUpdate(Item... item) { adapter.add(item[0]); } protected void onPostExecute(Void unused) { pDialog.dismiss(); } } Which I call in onCreate() with new AddTask().execute(); The line items = parser.getItems() works fine - items being the arraylist containing each item from the XML. The problem I'm facing is that on starting the activity, the ProgressDialog which i create in onPreExecute() isn't displayed until after the doInBackground() method has finished. i.e. I get a black screen, a long pause, then a completely populated list with the items in. Why is this happening? Why isn't the UI drawing, the ProgressDialog showing, the parser getting the items and incrementally adding them to the list, then the ProgressDialog dismissing?

  • Streaming to the Android MediaPlayer

    - by Rob Szumlakowski
    Hi. I'm trying to write a light-weight HTTP server in my app to feed dynamically generated MP3 data to the built-in Android MediaPlayer. I am not permitted to store my content on the SD card. My input data is essentially of an infinite length. I tell MediaPlayer that its data source should basically be something like "http://localhost/myfile.mp3". I've a simple server set up that waits for MediaPlayer to make this request. However, MediaPlayer isn't very cooperative. At first, it makes an HTTP GET and tries to grab the whole file. It times out if we try and simply dump data into the socket so we tried using the HTTP Range header to write data in chunks. MediaPlayer doesn't like this and doesn't keep requesting the subsequent chunks. Has anyone had any success streaming data directly into MediaPlayer? Do I need to implement an RTSP or Shoutcast server instead? Am I simply missing a critical HTTP header? What strategy should I use here? Rob Szumlakowski
