• Redirect window of command line tool to your app (Windows)

  Hello, is there a way (on Windows XP+) to redirect the output of a window created by a process created with e.g. CreateProcess to a window of your own program? I'd like to make a nicer GUI for ffplay.exe which is an open source video player. It is a command line tool, which opens a simple window in which it plays back the video. Can I "capture" this window and display the output in my own program somehow? Thanks for any hints you can provide.

  Consider following source, reduced for simplicity int main() { int d[2]; pipe(d); if(fork()) { close(1); dup(d[1]); execlp("ls", "ls", NULL); } else { close(0); dup(d[0]); execlp("cat", "cat", NULL); } } So it creates a pipe and redirects the output from ls to cat. It works perfectly fine, no problems. But change cat to more and bash breaks. The symptoms are: you don't see anything you type pressing "enter" shows up a new prompt, but not in a new line, but in the same one you can execute any command and see the output reset helps fixing things up. So there is a problem with input from keyboard, it is there, but is not visible. Why is that?

  Does the -jar option of the java command also compile the sources before running the main method? I believe so but i would like to have a better understanding of the internal process, from the man page you can clearly see a small workflow sequence: -jar Execute a program encapsulated in a JAR file. The first argument is the name of a JAR file instead of a startup class name. In order for this option to work, the manifest of the JAR file must contain a line of the form Main-Class: classname. Here, classname identifies the class having the public static void main(String[] args) method that serves as your application's starting point. • Command to surround a character with spaces in vim

  I am trying to use vim properly - to aid me I've mapped my arrow keys to "" so that I am forced to use {hjlk} to move around. This is causing me a problem when I want to just surround a character with spaces, eg: "2+3" is better formatted "2 + 3" Previously I would have put my cursor over the + and typed: i[space][arrow-right][space][Esc] That's 5 presses. To do this without the arrow I seem to need to put the cursor over the + and go: i[space][Esc]lli[space][Esc] That's 8 presses. I can convert the "li" into an "a" which reduces it to 7 presses: i[space][Esc]la[space][Esc] Short of writing this into a macro is there a better way of doing it? Is there some magic vim command which will allow me to do it in less than even 5 presses - and some way to generalise it so that I can do it to entire words or symbols, eg if I want to convert 3==4 to 3 == 4?

  I iterate through a collection of CSV files in bash, running: iconv --from-code=ISO-8859-1 --to-code=UTF-8 ${FILE} | \ sed -e 's/\"//g' | \ sed -e 's/, /,/g' \ > ${FILE}.utf8 Running iconv to fix UTF-8 characters, then the first sed call removes the double quote characters, and the final sed call is supposed to remove leading and trailing whitespace around the commas. HOWEVER, I still have a line like this in the saved file: FALSE,,,, 2.40,, The COPY command in postgres is kind of dumb, so it thinks " 2.40" is not valid syntax for a numeric value. Where am I going wrong w/ my processing of the CSV file? Thanks!

  I just installed TortoiseHg (and I'm new to mercurial). I haven't been able to execute any commit with the contextual menu from Tortoise. Every time I try, I get the following error : Commit : Abort : The system cannot find the specified file. I get the error no matter the changes in my repository : new files, modifications to existing files. I also took the time to configure tortoise as shown here : http://tortoisehg.bitbucket.org/manual/1.0/quick.html (section 3.1) The strange thing is, everything is working well when I'm doing my commit from the command line.   Hi, I need to parse command line arguments in C. My arguments are basically int or float with default values and range constrains. I've started to implement something that look like this: option_float(float* out, int argc, char* argv, char* name, description, float default_val, int is_optional, float min_value, float max_value) which I call for example with: float* pct; option_float(pct, argc, argv, "pct", "My super percentage option", 50, 1, FALSE, 0, 100) however I don't want to reinvent the wheel ! My objective is to have error checking of range constrains, throw an error when the option is not optional and is not set. And generate the help message usually given by usage() function. The usage text would look like this: --pct My super percentage option (default : 50). Should be in [0, 100] I've started with getopt but it is too limited for what I want to do and I feel it still requires me to write too much code for a simple usecase like this. thanks

  Say I have a table called Employee (has ID, NAME, ADDRESS, and PHONE columns). (Not my real problem, but simplified to make the question easier.) If I call a sproc called UpdateEmployee and I pass in a @Name, @Address, @Phone and @ID. Can merge be used to easily check to see if the ID exists? If it does to update the name, address and phone? and if it does not to insert them? I see examples on the net, but they are huge and hairy. I would like a nice simple example if possible.   hey guys I'm trying to use ip2country technique to show my users'flags simple thing to do is to write a sql statement and show users from session table and then query to see if their ip is in what range and show their flags it simple but dengerous becuase when showing 300 users online and fetching from session table and then query once again ip2country table to get the flags there will be surelly memory overusage problem now i wrote a query to make it in one query : SELECT s.session_ip,ipc.* FROM session s left join ip2country ipc ON ipc.ip_lo<=s.session_ip AND ipc.ip_hi>=s.session_ip WHERE s.session_time > '".( time() - 60) )."' now its clear above query is wrong cause ips saved in ip2country table is long string 1000013824 and ips saved in session table are real ip e.g. 193.169.0.0 now i know how to convert from ip to long in php ip2long() but is there any command in mysql to do it with out building another query !?

I am able to right click on the file in STS and execute it which works well.   I have a script that acts as a wrapper for some unit tests written using the Python unittest module. In addition to cleaning up some files, creating an output stream and generating some code, it loads test cases into a suite using unittest.TestLoader().loadTestsFromTestCase() I am already using optparse to pull out several command-line arguments used for determining the output location, whether to regenerate code and whether to do some clean up. I also want to pass a configuration variable, namely an endpoint URI, for use within the test cases. I realize I can add an OptionParser to the setUp method of the TestCase, but I want to instead pass the option to setUp. Is this possible using loadTestsFromTestCase()? I can iterate over the returned TestSuite's TestCases, but can I manually call setUp on the TestCases? ** EDIT ** I wanted to point out that I am able to pass the arguments to setUp if I iterate over the tests and call setUp manually like: (options, args) = op.parse_args() suite = unittest.TestLoader().loadTestsFromTestCase(MyTests.TestSOAPFunctions) for test in suite: test.setUp(options.soap_uri) However, I am using xmlrunner for this and its run method takes a TestSuite as an argument. I assume it will run the setUp method itself, so I would need the parameters available within the XMLTestRunner. I hope this makes sense.

The command svn_info outputs a number of label\value pairs, delimited by colons.
