  • JqGrid updating grid on add

    - by CSharpAtl
Scenario: I have three columns in my grid but only one is editable, the other two are filled in on the server side. I am using the built in add functionality of jqGrid and NOT refreshing the grid on successfully add. I would like to have the row added to the grid, like it does automatically, but would like to add it myself because it only adds the one column that is marked 'editable'. I cannot seem to find a way to block the row from being automatically added to the grid, or a way to override the built in add functionality in the grid. My idea was to add the row myself because I will have received back the full row of data back on my submit. Questions: Is there a way to stop the grid from automatically adding the row when I do not want a grid refresh, so that I can manually add all the data for the row? Is it possible to use the built in add button and override the onClick, without digging and and directly figuring out what jqGrid calls the button? Any better ideas on how to accomplish getting the row added to the grid from the server side without doing it all manually...ie. create my own add button, and popup a dialog and handle all the submit functionality? EDIT What would help is if I could stop the grid from auto adding the row...I can deal with doing it myself.

  • Inserting an element within jQuery Validation plugin's error template

    - by simshaun
I'm utilizing the jQuery Validation plugin for my form. It lets you change the errorElement and wrap the errorElement using with the wrapper option. But, I want to insert an element within errorElement like this: <label class="error"><em></em>Error message goes here</label> Is there an easy way to accomplish inserting the em tag? I've tried prepending the em tag using the errorPlacement option (see below), but it seems the plugin is replacing the contents of errorElement afterwards. $.validator.setDefaults({ errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.prepend('<em/>'); error.insertBefore(element); } }); I've also tried prepending the em tag using the showErrors option (see below). Again, it seems the plugin is replacing the contents of errorElement afterwards. $.validator.setDefaults({ showErrors: function(errorMap, errorList) { for (var i = 0; i < errorList.length; i++) { var error = errorList[i], $label = this.errorsFor(error.element), $element = $(error.element); if ($label.length && $label.find('em').length == 0) { $label.prepend('<em/>'); } } this.defaultShowErrors(); } }); I've also tried modifying the plugin so that when the error element is generated, the <em> tag is prepended. That works until I focus on a form element that has an error, after which the em tag is removed. (It's doing this because jQuery validation is constantly updating the contents of the error element as I focus and/or type in the field, therefore erasing my em tag added at error-element creation.)

  • .uploadifySettings not working as expected

    - by marcgg
I'm using uploadify and the function to change the settings doesn't seem to be working. I'm basing my code from the following example: #(‘#someID’).uploadifySettings(’scriptData’, {‘name’ : some.val()}); So here's what I'm doing: // INITIALIZATION $("#"+elementId).uploadify({ // other data "scriptData": { "token": token } }); Later on I want to update the scriptData: $("#"+elementId).uploadifySettings("scriptData",{"token": "pleasework"}); ... but this is not working, it's still using the scriptData set during the initialization. What am I doing wrong?

  • Customizing scrollable plugin with prevpage and nextpage over the image? (see mock up)

    - by aaandre
Hi, I am implementing a scrollable for a portfolio gallery. (scrollable = scrollable plugin from http://flowplayer.org/tools/index.html ) There will be one item visible at a time. By default, scrollable positions the prev/next buttons outside of the image area and clicking on the current image advances the scrollable content. I would like to have the prev/next render within the image area. I would like to have an image caption appear when mousing over the lower part of the image. Mock-up: http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn160/upstagephoto/mockups/scrollable_mockup.jpg Any ideas on how to achieve one or both of these? Thank you!

    - by Toro
Is possible refresh a function every x seconds or refresh it on single event? I explain: I have a function that make pagination on my website, inside every div that are "pages" I have some pictures where I have added LightBox. Everything works nice on the first div (page) but when I change the page it doesnt' work anymore. So I need to fix this issue, everytime I change the "page" I would like it works fine. Is possible to refresh a function every x second or to refresh it everytime I click on the pagination buttons?

  • multiple jQuery Cycle slideshows get superimposed

    - by gmorehouse
I'm using the jQuery cycle plugin to create multiple slideshows on a single page (which, once I get this problem figured out, will be started/stopped by mouse hover -- yeah, I know there are 9 slideshows on the page). Problem is, when I tell more than one slideshow to start cycling, whichever ones I call cycle() on get superimposed. So, all the images from slide 1 are superimposed, then they all transition to slide 2, etc. I can tell they're being superimposed because the first slide of each slideshow contains a transparent PNG. This happens whether I call cycle() in a jQuery each() iterator, or even if I call it by hand on just two or three of the containers with a jQuery id selector. The relevant page is http://zi.ma/cycle

  • JQuery validation - how to set the title attribute to the error message

    - by JK
    In JQuery validation the default behavior on an error is to create a label like so: <label for="FirstName" generated="true" class="error">This field is required.</label> Is it possible to change it so that it will output this instead (with a title attribute set to the error message)? <label for="FirstName" generated="true" class="error" title="This field is required.">This field is required.</label> I've tried the highlight method, but the label has not been created yet: $("#form").validate({ highlight: function (element, errorClass) { var label = $("label[for=" + element.id + "]"); // but label doesn't exist yet so this doesnt work if (label && label.length > 0) { // label.length is always 0 label.attr('title', label.text()); } } });

  • Passing variables to callback functions

    - by mickyjtwin
I am trying to write a jQuery plugin, that can be applied to a selector. Within this plugin, there are multiple calls to webservices, where callback methods are required. The problem I am having is maintaining the current context item in the each loop of the selector. (function($){ $.fn.myMethod = function(){ return this.each(function(){ var c = $(this); $.api.methodToCall("", CallbackFunction); }); }; function CallbackFunction(data, result){ // do stuff based on c } })(jQuery); Normally, you would provide the callback function straight away, which allows me to access c, however within the callback function, there potentially is another api call, so it would start to get messy. Is there any way to do this?

  • Does jQuery have a plugin to display a "message bar" like the Twitter "wrong password" bar at the to

    - by Jian Lin
Twitter will pop down a message bar at the top of the screen say "Wrong password" and after 10 seconds, it will slide up and disappear. Chrome also shows "Do you want to save the password" message box using such a way. Does jQuery have a plug in to do that already? Does it also work in IE 6? Because usually, the display of relative to the viewport (using position: fixed) will not work on IE 6. thanks.

  • How to determine position (x,y) relative to the page of every character inside spans through javascript?

    - by Fernando
This is as simple as I can get. I will have several spans randomly positioned on the screen through something like: $(".hidden:first").css('-webkit-transform','rotate('+((0.5-Math.random())*40)+'deg)'); $(".hidden:first").animate({ left: '+=' + (((screen.width-800-224)/2) + Math.random()*800), top: '+=' + (50+Math.random()*600) } [...] and later on I would like to iterate through every char of every of those elements (that are randomly position and have random rotation), and I would need to discover the (x,y) position of every character on the screen so I can colorize it, forming certain draws according to certain functions. Is this easily achievable? I am really inexperienced at javascript. Thanks. Fernando.

  • Phonegap web view thinks device screen taller than it is - results in offscreen tabbar

    - by Stin
I have a jQTouch application loaded via server, so all I need to do is display the webpage full screen in PhoneGap for a faux-Native app. Unfortunatley each solution I've tried in PhoneGap has an issue: it thinks the screen size is taller than it is. This resuls in the tabbar that is pinned to the bottom being permantly offscreen and there fore unusable. You should be able to recreate this with my code below and going to the iTabbar online demo. Any thoughts on how to correct this issue? For background, going to the app page in iOS safari works fine, as well as saving the page to the home screen. In both cases the webview stops at the bottom of the screen and the tabbar is therefore viewable. Also, I'm using build.phonegap.com to compile (I'm not compiling locally) I've tried two methods: load the childBrowser plugin and call up the page (with navbar hidden via options) set the following config.xml parameter to prevent phonegap from switching to Safari, and then just load the link (preferable as it's cleaner in my mind. I've pasted my index.html and config.xml below) Details on the config.xml paramater: Open all links in WebView stay-in-webview with values true or false example: <preference name="stay-in-webview" value="true" /> if set to true, all links (even with target set to blank) will open in the app's webview only use this preference if you want pages from your server to take over your entire app default is false (Source: https://build.phonegap.com/docs/config-xml) my index.html: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8"> <title>MyApp</title> <script src="phonegap.js"></script> </head> <body> <p><a href="http://www.itabbar.com/itabbar/demo.html#home">Launch iTabbar</a></p> </body> </html> my config.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <widget xmlns = "http://www.w3.org/ns/widgets" xmlns:gap = "http://phonegap.com/ns/1.0" id = "com.phonegap.myapp" versionCode="10" version = "1.0.0"> <!-- versionCode is optional and Android only --> <name>MyApp</name> <description> My app is... </description> <author href="https://myurl.com" email="[email protected]"> me </author> <preference name="stay-in-webview" value="true" /> </widget>

  • Update User Info with restful_authentication plugin in Rails?

    - by benoror
Hi people, I want to give the users the ability to change their account info with restful_authentication plugin in rails. I added this two methods to my users controller: def edit @user = User.find(params[:id]) end def update @user = User.find(params[:id]) # Only update password when necessary params[:user].delete(:password) if pàrams[:user][:password].blank? respond_to do |format| if @user.update_attributes(params[:user]) flash[:notice] = 'User was successfully updated.' format.html { redirect_to(@user) } format.xml { head :ok } else format.html { render :action => "edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @user.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end Also, I copied new.html.erb to edit.html.erb. Considering that resources are already defined in routes.rb I was expecting it to work easily, bute somehow when I click the save button it calls the create method, instead of update, using a POST http request. Inmediatly after that it autocatically log out form the session. Any ideas?
