• Getting the uptime of a SunOS UNIX box in seconds only

  How do I determine the uptime on a SunOS UNIX box in seconds only? On Linux, I could simply cat /proc/uptime & take the first argument: cat /proc/uptime | awk '{print $1}' I'm trying to do the same on a SunOS UNIX box, but there is no /proc/uptime. There is an uptime command which presents the following output: $ uptime 12:13pm up 227 day(s), 15:14, 1 user, load average: 0.05, 0.05, 0.05 I don't really want to have to write code to convert the date into seconds only & I'm sure someone must have had this requirement before but I have been unable to find anything on the internet. Can anyone tell me how to get the uptime in just seconds? TIA

  I've got a cluster with functioning private MSMQ 3.0 queues. I'm trying to programmatically set the permissions, but can't seem to connect via System.Messaging on the queues. The code below works just fine when working with local queues (and using .\ nomenclature for the local queue). How to programmatically set the permissions on the clustered queues?   I am trying to create a new file and write XML to it: FileStream output = File.Create(Path.Combine(PATH_TO_DATA_DIR, fileName)); The argument evaluates to: C:\path\to\Data\test.xml The exception is: The process cannot access the file 'C:\path\to\Data\test.xml' because it is being used by another process. What am I doing wrong here? • I've Heard Global Variables Are Bad, What Alternative Solution Should I Use?

  I've read all over the place that global variables are bad and alternatives should be used. In Javascript specifically, what solution should I choose. I'm thinking of a function, that when fed two arguments (function globalVariables(Variable,Value)) looks if Variable exists in a local array and if it does set it's value to Value, else, Variable and Value are appended. If the function is called without arguments (function globalVariables()) it returns the array. Perhaps if the function is fired with just one argument (function globalVariables(Variable)) it returns the value of Variable in the array. What do you think? I'd like to hear your alternative solutions and arguments for using global variables.

  Hello, How to specify the format string to convert the date alone from string. In my case, only the date part is relevant Constructing it as DateTime fails: String dateString = "2009-04-17"; DateTimeFormatter formatter = DateTimeFormat.forPattern("yyyy-MM-dd"); DateTime dateTime = formatter.parseDateTime(dateString); with error java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid format: "2011-04-17" is too short Probably because I should use LocalDate instead.   I am writing some Java code that authenticates to Active Directory using SASL GSSAPI. Mostly this code is working fine but for one user I am getting the response: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 8 0090304: LdapErr: DSID-0C0904D1, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 568, v1772 ] I know that 49 means this is an authentication failure, and that the relevant sub code is 568, but I am only aware of the following meanings for that data: 525 - user not found 52e - invalid credentials 530 - not permitted to logon at this time 532 - password expired 533 - account disabled 701 - account expired 773 - user must reset password So far I am unable to find an authorative source of these error codes from Microsoft (this list is pieced together from forum posts) and I can't find anything for that 568 error. Does anyone know what it means?

  I am trying to create a record containing the path to a file. The insertion is done into a Postgres database where UTF8 is enabled, using the NpqSQL driver. My table definition: CREATE TABLE images ( id serial, file_location character varying NOT NULL ) My SQL statement (boiled down to a minimum): INSERT INTO images (file_location) VALUES (E'\\2010') When using pgAdmin to insert the above statement, it works fine. Using the NpgSQL driver through Visual Studio C#, it fails with this exception: "ERROR: 22021: invalid byte sequence for encoding \"UTF8\": 0x81" Replacing my SQL statement with the following: INSERT INTO images (file_location) VALUES (E'\\a2010') ^ The E is encouraged by pgAdmin when using double backslashes. So a quick recap: Why is NpqSQL stopping my insertion of the \\2010?

  Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database.   I'm getting an 'UnauthorizedAccesExpection - Invalid cross-thread access' exception when I try to raise a PropertyChanged event from within a subscription to an IObservable collection created through Observable.Interval(). With my limited threading knowledge I'm assuming that the interval is happening on some other thread while the event wants to happen on the UI thread??? An explanation of the problem would be very useful.   Hi, I want to create an object, let's say a Pie. class Pie def initialize(name, flavor) @name = name @flavor = flavor end end But a Pie can be divided in 8 pieces, a half or just a whole Pie. For the sake of argument, I would like to know how I could give each Pie object a price per 1/8, 1/4 or per whole. I could do this by doing: class Pie def initialize(name, flavor, price_all, price_half, price_piece) @name = name @flavor = flavor @price_all = price_all @price_half = price_half @price_piece = price_piece end end But now, if I would create fifteen Pie objects, and I would take out randomly some pieces somewhere by using a method such as getPieceOfPie(pie_name) How would I be able to generate the value of all the available pies that are whole and the remaining pieces? • HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() - what specific status codes cause an exception to be thrown?

  I've hunted around for some definitive documentation on this but haven't had much luck finding any. Basically - the question is - for which HTTP Status codes coming back from the server will HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() generate a WebException after doing something like say, a POST? Specifically - will it generate a WebException for anything other than status 200 OK? Or will it only generate a WebException for say, 400, 404, and 500 (for the sake of argument). I want to know since, the server I'm communicating with defines anything other than HTTP 200 OK coming back as an error condition - and the key is, can I rely on a WebException being generated for anything other than 200? (I've currently written my code so that it'll actually check the return status code everytime to ensure it's 200 OK and if it's not, take appropriate action - but it's alot of duplication between that, and the catch block for a WebException, and I'm hoping to clean it up...) Any relevant links to documentation would be most appreciated. Thanks!

  I have to draw a 20 plots and horizontally place a legends in each plots. I gave the following command for the first plot: plot(x=1:4,y=1:4) legend("bottom",legend = c("a","b","c","d"),horiz=TRUE,text.font=2,cex=0.64) then for the second plot I tried : plot(x=1:2,y=1:2) legend("bottom",legend = c("a","b"),horiz=TRUE,text.font=2,cex=0.64) But because the size of the character vector passed to legend argument are different I get the size of the legend different. Since I have to plot so many different plots having varying sizes of legends,I would want to do it in an automated fashion. Is there a way to do this which can fix the size of the legend in all the plots and fit it to graph size?

  In a project I work on we use a Python C module compiled from Fortran with f2py. I've had no issues building it on Windows 7 32bit (using mingw32) and on the servers it's built on 32bit Linux. But I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit on my laptop that I use for development, and when I build it I get a lot of warnings (even though I've apparently installed all gcc/fortran libraries/compilers), but it does finish the build.   I am trying to reconnect to a socket that I have disconnected from but it won't allow it for some reason even though I called the Disconnect method with the argument "reuseSocket" set to true. _socket = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp); _socket.Connect(ipAddress, port); //...receive data _socket.Disconnect(true); //reuseSocket = true //...wait _socket.Connect(ipAddress, port); //throws an InvalidOperationException: Once the socket has been disconnected, you can only reconnect again asynchronously, and only to a different EndPoint. BeginConnect must be called on a thread that won't exit until the operation has been completed. What am I doing wrong?

  Hello I have installed php5.2.13, apache2.2.15 on WindowsXp.Add C:\php to PATH ssystem variable. I can't enable curl extension. I configure extension_dir and remove ";" form php_curl in php.ini but nothing! I copied ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll in system32 directory - nothing Error log say: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\php\ext\php_curl.dll' - Attempt to access invalid address.\r\n in Unknown on line 0 Can someone help me?
