• MySQL Connection Timeout Issue - Grails Application on Tomcat using Hibernate and ORM

  Hi Guys I have a small grails application running on Tomcat in Ubuntu on a VPS. I use MySql as my datastore and everything works fine unless I leave the application for more than half a day (8 hours?). I did some searching and apparently this is the default wait_timeout in mysql.cnf so after 8 hours the connection will die but Tomcat won't know so when the next user tries to view the site they will see the connection failure error. Refreshing the page will fix this but I want to get rid of the error altogether. For my version of MySql (5.0.75) I have only my.cnf and it doesn't contain such a parameter, In any case changing this parameter doesn't solve the problem. This Blog Post seems to be reporting a similar error but I still don't fully understand what I need to configure to get this fixed and also I am hoping that there is a simpler solution than another third party library. The machine I'm running on has 256MB ram and I'm trying to keep the number of programs/services running to a minimum. Is there something I can configure in Grails / Tomcat / MySql to get this to go away? • Adobe AIR non-Administrator application installation/upgrade on Windows

  Is there any way to allow non-Administrator users to install, upgrade or uninstall an Adobe AIR application on Windows? I've made an Adobe AIR application and packaged it as a .air package using the standard AIR mechanism for creating deployment packages. If a normal or Power user tries to install this AIR application, the Application Event Log shows an error saying administrative rights are required. And even if the user elevates during installation, administrative rights are still required for an upgrade using the automated AIR upgrade system (since an upgrade is essentially, behind the scenes, an uninstallation of a .msi package followed by an installation of another .msi package). Is there any way around this? What I've tried so far is: Using the Group Policy editor, setting Windows Installer to elevate during installations. Doesn't work, since AIR attempts a "for all users" installation. Specifying My Documents as the installation directory. Doesn't work, since AIR attempts a "for all users" installation. Giving the user Modify access to the Program Files folder where the application would usually reside. Doesn't work, since this isn't a file permissions issue. Making the user a Power User. Doesn't work, since AIR attempts a "for all users" installation. I'm guessing that both installing and upgrading would work fine for a user if the AIR installer would attempt to make an "only for me" application installation instead of a "for all users" installation, and the user was a Power User, and possibly the application was installed to My Documents I'm also guessing that this problem doesn't exist on OSX and Linux, since they have more intuitive concepts for per-user application installations.

• PHP Magento SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: Couldn't load from urlpath

  I am trying to create a soap client by passing a url that is hosted on my local machine, my dev environment and I keep getting this error. I use to be able to make this call and it worked just fine. Basically all I am doing is this $client = new SoapClient('http://virtual.website.com:81/api/?wsdl'); If I go to the url in a browser it comes up, so I know it is the right location. On the Magento forums there are some similar posts but I don't know that this is a Magento specific problem. Everything they mention as a solution I already have. They say to edit the hosts file for example 127.0.0.1 website.com I already have this since it is setup as a virtual host.   Hi guys, I have a EJB module in remote Glassfish server and application client in my computer. I want to connect from the application client to the remote EJB. Here is the my EJB interface: @Remote public interface BookEJBRemote { public String getTitle(); } Here is the my ejb: @Stateless public class BookEJB implements BookEJBRemote { @Override public String getTitle() { return "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea"; } } I have several questions : Can I use Dependency Injection in the remote application client to connect to the ejb? If so what can i do to achieve this. Do i need to configure in the sun-ejb-jar.xml and sun-application-client.xml? In other words, if i use DI like @EJB MyEJBRemote ejb; How application client container know what ejb to be injected? Where should i specify the information? How can i run the application client? I tried to run package-appclient in the glassfish server to get appclient.jar and copy it to my computer. Then i type appclient.jar -client myAppClient.jar . It didn't work. How do i point the target server? if i cannot use DI in the client then i guess i have to use JNDI lookup. Do i need to configure jndi name in sun-ejb-jar.xml or in the sun-application-client.xml? No matter how i try i never manage to run application client ? Can you guys put some working example? And thank you for every advises and examples?

  I've successfully set up the "DemoApp" project from the Facebook IOS SDK to use my "OKC ThunderCast" Facebook application. I have also configured another "Tester" application from scratch to successfully use the Facebook SDK and publish stories to my news feed. However, in my production application, I always get this result when calling the "dialog" method. The full description of the error message is "Error on line 52 at column 17: Opening and ending tag mismatch: div line 0 and body" Here's a detailed walkthrough of all of my code to make sure nothing is missed. 1) A UIViewController calls the "authorize" method NSArray *fbPerms = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"read_stream", @"offline_access", nil]; [[FacebookSingleton sharedInstance].facebook authorize:fbPerms delegate:self]; Note: The FacebookSingleton is a class I wrote that always returns a single instance of the "Facebook" class. I am using it successfully in other applications. 2) Safari is opened and the user is successfully authenticated and authorized 3) The application is called back and the "handleOpenUrl" method is called, which calls the "fbDidLogin" method of the UIViewController - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application handleOpenURL:(NSURL *)url { Facebook *fb = [FacebookSingleton sharedInstance].facebook; return [fb handleOpenURL:url]; } 4) The same UIViewController handles the "fbDidLogin" event, and calls the "dialog" method - (void)fbDidLogin { [[FacebookSingleton sharedInstance].facebook dialog:@"feed" andDelegate:self]; } I also have the necessary "URL Schemes" and "URL Types" entries in the .plist file.   Here's my test case. If the form is posted, a 500 error response is sent. If not, the form is sent. If the file input tag is commented out, the error handler is called. If the file input tag is present, the error handler isn't called. I think this might have something to do with the fact that jQuery needs to use an iframe to handle the upload and iframes don't seem to respond to the error handler. Edit: If I add iframe: true to the options passed to ajaxSubmit to force the use of an iframe, the non-file-upload case stops working also, so it definitely has to do with the iframe. • How to parse a custom XML-style error code response from a website

  I'm developing a program that queries and prints out open data from the local transit authority, which is returned in the form of an XML response. Normally, when there are buses scheduled to run in the next few hours (and in other typical situations), the XML response generated by the page is handled correctly by the java.net.URLConnection.getInputStream() function, and I am able to print the individual results afterwards. The problem is when the buses are NOT running, or when some other problem with my queries develops after it is sent to the transit authority's web server. When the authority developed their service, they came up with their own unique error response codes, which are also sent as XMLs. For example, one of these error messages might look like this: <Error xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <Code>3005</Code> <Message>Sorry, no stop estimates found for given values.</Message> </Error> (This code and similar is all that I receive from the transit authority in such situations.) However, it appears that URLConnection.getInputStream() and some of its siblings are unable to interpret this custom code as a "valid" response that I can handle and print out as an error message. Instead, they give me a more generic HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found error. This problem cascades into my program which then prints out a java.io.FileNotFoundException error pointing to the offending input stream. My question is therefore two-fold: 1. Is there a way to retrieve, parse, and print a custom XML-formatted error code sent by a web service using the plugins that are available in Java? 2. If the above is not possible, what other tools should I use or develop to handle such custom codes as described?

• Application error passthru when using apache mod_proxy

  Heyas. I'm using mod_proxy with apache2 provide vhost ability to multiple servlet apps running on the local machine. It works fine, for the most part. Requests come into apache then are directed to the application bound on a port on localhost. The app receives the request and responds, which is delivered back to the client by apache. The problem I'm having is that the application delivers 500's on errors, and mod_proxy stomps on them. Often these errors are caused in a ajax request and the error is handled in client side javascript. For example, a call to a server side createObject(name) might throw a NameNotUniqueException , which is delivered back as a 500. The client javascript might then display an appropriate error message.   In our multi - user application we are continuously interacting with database. We have a common class through which we are sending POST queries to database and obtaining xml files in return. We are using delegates of NSXMLParser to parse the obtained file. The problem with us is we are facing many crashes in it generally when application is idle and changed data in database is being fetched in background through timer which is invoked after every few seconds. We have also dealt with error handling through try and catch but it proves to be of no use in this case and mostly application crashes with following error : Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000020 Strange thing is that many times the fetching of updated data at background works very fine, same methods being successfully executed under similar conditions but suddenly it crashes on one of them.   There is a simple WinAPI application. All it does currently is this: register a window class register a tray icon with a menu create a value in the registry in order to autostart and finally, it checks if it's unique using a mutex As I'm used to writing code mainly in C++, and no MFC is allowed, I'm forced to encapsulate this into C++ classes somehow. So far I've come up with such a design: there is a class that represents the application it keeps all the wndclass, hinstance, etc variables, where the hinstance is passed as a constructor parameter as well as the icmdshow and others (see WinMain prototype) it has functions for registering the window class, tray icon, reigstry information it encapsulates the message loop in a function In WinMain, the following is done: Application app(hInstance, szCmdLIne, iCmdShow); return app.exec(); and the constructor does the following: registerClass(); registerTray(); registerAutostart(); So far so good. Now the question is : how do I create the window procedure (must be static, as it's a c-style pointer to a function) AND keep track of what the application object is, that is, keep a pointer to an Application around. The main question is : is this how it's usually done? Am I complicating things too much? Is it fine to pass hInstance as a parameter to the Application constructor? And where's the WndProc? Maybe WndProc should be outside of class and the Application pointer be global? Then WndProc invokes Application methods in response to various events.

  We have a webapp written in .NET that uses NTLM for SSO. We are writing a new webapp in Java that will tightly integrate with the original application. Unfortunately, Java has no support for performing the server portion of NTLM authentication and the only library that I can find requires too much setup to be allowed by IT. To work around this, I came up with a remote authentication scheme to work across applications and would like your opinions on it. It does not need to be extremely secure, but at the same time not easily be broken. User is authenticated into .NET application using NTLM User clicks link that leaves .NET application .NET application generates random number and stores it in the user table along with the user's full username (domain\username) Insecure token is formed as random number:username Insecure token is run through secure cipher (likely AES-256) using pre-shared key stored within the application to produce a secure token The secure token is passed as part of the query string to the Java application The Java application decrypts the secure key using the same pre-shared key stored within its own code to get the insecure token The random number and username are split apart The username is used to retrieve the user's information from the user table and the stored random number is checked against the one pulled from the insecure token If the numbers match, the username is put into the session for the user and they are now authenticated If the numbers do not match, the user is redirected to the .NET application's home page The random number is removed from the database

  When I reboot my Windows 7 machine, I get the error: Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package The only way I can get rid of it is to boot from the Windows install DVD, get into command prompt and run chkdsk. Then when I reboot from the hard disk, there is no error, however, it eventually comes back. Any ideas?

  I have a tedious problem with Acrobat Pro X 10.1.3.23: when I want to apply a timestamp to a document I always get that error. I have configured VeriSign TSA server http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll and it returns that error. I have tried Comodo CA http://timestamp.comodoca.com/authenticode and Aruba https://servizi.arubapec.it/tsa/ngrequest.php but all three returned the same exact error. My PDFs are now signed without a certified timestamp and this is a problem for me. I'm obliged to sign documents and apply a certified timestamp at the same time. This seems to be a common error in Acrobat, but I found no solution to it. Can somebody help me?

  Hello All, Using upgrade manager I upgraded my 8.x LTS installation to 10.4. After rebooting the system failed encountered an error and dropped into the recovery console. It appeared to be a problem caused by ureadahead as described here: http://ubuntuguide.net/howto-fix-ureadahead-problem-after-upgrading-to-ubuntu-10-04. So I renamed ureadahead.conf to ureadahead.moved (after remounting the partition rw). this did not help so I renamed the file back again. After rebooting the following error appears: ureadahead terminated with status 5. udev_monitor_new_from_netlink: error getting socket: Invalid Argument mountall:mountall.c:3204 assertion failed in main: udev_monitor = udev_monitor_new_from_netlink(udev,"udev") init: mountall main process (2532) killed by ABRT signal. General error mounting filesystems How will I get my system to boot again properly? thanks
