  • Merge two lists of objects which hold different data

    - by C.McAtackney
I have an object "Project" which has a number of fields, one of which is "Name". I have one spreadsheet of projects which contains some of these fields, and another which contains the rest. However, Both spreadsheets have the "Name" field. I've read them in and populated two List, only populating the available fields from that particular source. E.g. a Project from List 1 looks like; {Name="MyProj", Type="Form", Priority=NULL}, whereas a Project from List 2 {Name="MyProj", Type=NULL, Priority="High"}. Now, I want to merge these two lists into one in which each Project object has all of its fields populated, with the Name field being used to match the elements. How can I achieve this? Are there any nice ways of doing this concisely? Thanks

  • how do i keep the aspect ratio on image buttons in android?

    - by clayton33
i have 5 square ImageButtons that i want to have lined up side by side on the bottom of the screen. I have each one set (different id's) as: <ImageButton android:id="@+id/box1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:scaleType="fitXY" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_margin="1dp" /> and i have the background assigned in main java like this: int[] imageIds = new int[] {R.id.box1,R.id.box2,R.id.box3,R.id.box4,R.id.box5}; for(int i = 0; i<5; i++){ imageButtons[i] = (ImageButton) findViewById(imageIds[i]); imageButtons[i].setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.blank); } what i would like to have it do is scale the width to fit neatly side-by-side at the bottom of the screen (which it does now ok), but have the height automatically scale to match the width as well. is this possible? i don't want to use setImageSource because then it puts a border around the imagebutton.

  • Check if row already exists, if so tell the referenced table the id

    - by flhe
Let's assume I have a table magazine: CREATE TABLE magazine ( magazine_id integer NOT NULL DEFAULT nextval(('public.magazine_magazine_id_seq'::text)::regclass), longname character varying(1000), shortname character varying(200), issn character varying(9), CONSTRAINT pk_magazine PRIMARY KEY (magazine_id) ); And another table issue: CREATE TABLE issue ( issue_id integer NOT NULL DEFAULT nextval(('public.issue_issue_id_seq'::text)::regclass), number integer, year integer, volume integer, fk_magazine_id integer, CONSTRAINT pk_issue PRIMARY KEY (issue_id), CONSTRAINT fk_magazine_id FOREIGN KEY (fk_magazine_id) REFERENCES magazine (magazine_id) MATCH SIMPLE ON UPDATE NO ACTION ON DELETE NO ACTION ); Current INSERTS: INSERT INTO magazine (longname, shotname, issn) VALUES ('a long name','ee','1111-2222'); INSERT INTO issue (fk_magazine_id,number,year,volume) VALUES (currval('magazine_magazine_id_seq'),'8','1982','6'); Now a row should only be inserted into 'magazine', if it does not already exist. However if it exists, the table 'issue' needs to get the 'magazine_id' of the row that already exists in order to establish the reference. How can i do this? Thx in advance!

  • Subversion version 'difference' a big deal?

    - by CmdrTallen
Greetings, using VS2008 and VisualSVN and seems the VisualSVN folks are religious about updating the client (and their VisualSVN server) to the latest Subversion release. My question is my subversion server is a hosted server and seems to always lag several versions behind the client I use. Should I be concerned about this version "mis-match"? Is there a general rule of thumb about when it is a point to be concerned (like an entire major release behind)? Any sort of mechanism build into either the client, the server or the protocol that prevents something horrible from happening between badly 'paired' clients and servers?

  • Including a Django app's url.py is resulting in a 404

    - by 828
I have the following code in the urls.py in mysite project. /mysite/urls.py from django.conf.urls.defaults import * urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^gallery/$', include('mysite.gallery.urls')), ) This results in a 404 page when I try to access a url set in gallery/urls.py. /mysite/gallery/urls.py from django.conf.urls.defaults import * urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^gallery/browse/$', 'mysite.gallery.views.browse'), (r'^gallery/photo/$', 'mysite.gallery.views.photo'), ) 404 error Using the URLconf defined in mysite.urls, Django tried these URL patterns, in this order: ^gallery/$ The current URL, gallery/browse/, didn't match any of these. Also, the site is hosted on a media temple (dv) server and using mod_wsgi

  • rewrite image URLs

    - by Don
Hi, I'm writing a Maven plugin that merges CSS files together. So all the CSS files that match /foo/bar/*.css might get merged to /foo/merged.css. A concern is that in a file such as /foo/bar/baz.css there might be a property such as: background: url("images/pic.jpg") So when the file is merged into /foo/merged.css this will need to be changed to background: url("bar/images/pic.jpg") The recalculated URL obviously depends on 3 factors: original URL original CSS file location merged CSS file location Assuming that the original and merged CSS files are both on the same filesystem, is there a general formula (or Java library) that can be used to calculate the new url given these 3 inputs? Thanks, Don

  • Define the base class or base functionality of a dynamic proxy (e.g. Castle, LinFu)

    - by Graham
Hi, I've asked this in the NHibernate forumns but I think this is more of a general question. NHibernate uses proxy generators (e.g. Castle) to create its proxy. What I'd like to do is to extend the proxy generated so that it implements some of my own custom behaviour (i.e. a comparer). I need this because the following standard .NET behaviour fails to produce the correct results: //object AC is a concrete class collection.Contains(AC) = true //object AP is a proxy with the SAME id and therefore represents the same instance as concrete AC collection.Contains(AP) = false If my comparer was implemented by AP (i.e. do id's match) then collection.Contains(AP) would return true, as I'd expect if proxies were implicit. (NB: For those who say NH inherits from your base class, then yes it does, but NH can also inherit from an interface - which is what we're doing) I'm not at all sure this is possible or where to start. Is this something that can be done in any of the common proxy generators that NH uses?

  • Is there any ready-made calendar control for iPhone apps?

    - by chester
I am building an applicaiton for the iPhone that will display upcoming and past events. I settled for a list view, but then I realized that a calendar (just like the one displayed in the "month" view in the built-in Calendar application) would be a best match (that is, this one). However, the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines just mentions the Date Picker, not the calendar, so I believe there is nothing like that out of the box. Is that true? If so, does anyone know of a third-party control that could be used? (I could write one myself, but I'd rather pick up something ready, since this is a departure on the original project plans). Thank you all for your attention.

  • Use filter(), but work with both results

    - by Tomalak
In jQuery, filter() reduces your result to those elements that fulfill a certain condition. This splits the list in two parts. Working with the "good half" of the elements is easy: $("some selector").filter(function() { // determine result... return result; }).each( /* do something */ ); But how can I work with the "other half" of my elements, too - but without doing the equivalent of this: $("some selector").filter(function() { // determine result... return !result; }).each( /* do something else */ ); Basically, I'd like to feed two separate /* do something */ parts to a single filter. One for those that match, and one for the others - without having to filter twice. Am I missing a jQuery function that does this? P.S.: I guess I could do: $("some selector").each(function() { // determine result... if (result) /* do something */ else /* do something else */ }); But I was hoping for something nicer.

  • JavaScript loop stops on "localStorage.removeItem"

    - by user1755603
    Why is the "localStorage.removeItem" stopping the loop? If I remove "localStorage.removeItem" and only leave the "alert", it loops though whole thing, but with "localStorage.removeItem" it stops on the first match. function removeTask() { for (i=0; i < localStorage.length; i++){ checkbox = document.getElementById('utford'+i); if (checkbox.checked == true) { alert(i); localStorage.removeItem(localStorage.key(i)); } } printList(); }

  • Testing file uploading and downloading speed using FTP

    - by Toman
Hi all, I am working in a desktop application using java. In my application i have to perform a speed test which will show the file uploading and downloading speed. For uploading test i am uploading a small test file to a FTP server and based on time taken i am calculating the file upload speed. similarly i am downloading a test file form server and calculating download speed. But result i am getting doesn't match with actual FTP file uploading and downloading speed.it seems that the establishing connection to FTP server is increasing the time, hence the resultant speed i am calculating is less. Could you suggest any link or some way to get nearest uploading and downloading speed. i thanks to all your valuable suggestion.

  • Problem with pattern matching in ocaml

    - by Antony
I wrote the function used to decompose a Boolean function, the problem is that the compilation I get this : "Warning 5: this function application is partial, maybe some arguments are missing." How can I solve this problem? I've set wrong the patter matching or I can not run this operation with pattern matching The code is the following: let rec decomposition state_init state prec formula = match formula with And form -> (fun () -> let f1 = List.hd form in let f2 = And(List.tl form )in let new_state = Forms (state_init,f1) in decomposition state_init new_state state f1; decomposition state_init new_state state f2; Hashtbl.add graph new_state (("",false, state :: []) , []) ; let x = Hashtbl.find graph state in let succ = state :: snd x in let (desc, last, ptrs) = fst x in Hashtbl.replace graph state ( ("And-node",last,ptrs) , succ))

  • ASP.net Usercontrol caching viewstate across users?

    - by Jason
I have a usercontrol with asp:textbox controls on it that also performs postbacks. If two users, who are both identified by a different session variable, postback the page within the same second, one user will see the other user's viewstate values in the text boxes. I have validated that this happens by setting a textbox, a session variable, and a cookie to the same value (the same value that identifies the user) and writing to the log when all three don't match. The text box's value is the one that is logged as the other user's value. ASP.net 3.5, IIS 6 Has anyone experienced this issue.

  • Manipulating the case of the build macros in Visual Studio: $(TargetDir)

    - by miked
I've come across a weird problem today in Visual Studio 2005. If I create a new configuration "NewConfiguration" for one of my projects. The output directory referred to by the project in $(TargetDir) is "/path/to/build/area/newconfiguration". Note the loss of capital letters, I'd expect it to be in "/path/to/build/area/NewConfiguration". In another project that I created yesterday, the capital letters are there. Normally this would be a problem, but it's part of a fairly complicated build system where some of it's on unix and we need to worry about case sensitive filename. Does anyone know where the source string for the Visual Studio macros like $(TargetDir) are stored so that I can get the case to be consistent and match what we need for our build system?

  • How do I calculate a good hash code for a list of strings?

    - by Ian Ringrose
Background: I have a short list of strings. The number of strings is not always the same, but are nearly always of the order of a “handful” In our database will store these strings in a 2nd normalised table These strings are never changed once they are written to the database. We wish to be able to match on these strings quickly in a query without the performance hit of doing lots of joins. So I am thinking of storing a hash code of all these strings in the main table and including it in our index, so the joins are only processed by the database when the hash code matches. So how do I get a good hashcode? I could: Xor the hash codes of all the string together Xor with multiply the result after each string (say by 31) Cat all the string together then get the hashcode Some other way So what do people think? (If you care we are using .NET and SqlServer)

  • What are some useful SQL statements / usage patterns that should be known by all developers who may

    - by Jian Lin
What are some useful SQL statements that should be known by all developers who may touch the Back end side of the project? (Update: just like in algorithm, we know there are sorting problems, shuffling problems, and we know some solutions to them. This question is aiming at the same thing). For example, ones I can think of are: Get a list of Employees and their boss. Or one with the employee's salary greater than the boss. (Self-join) Get a list of the most popular Classes registered by students, from the greatest number to the smallest. (Count, group by, order by) Get a list of Classes that are not registered by any students. (Outer join and check whether the match is NULL, or by Get from Classes table, all ClassIDs which are NOT IN (a subquery to get all ClassIDs from the Registrations table)) Are there some SQL statements that should be under the sleeve of all developers that might touch back end data?

  • Kohana v2 - problem with routes

    - by yoda
Hi, I'm attempting to set some custom routes in Kohana v2. What I'm looking for is some method that allow the system to : follow a pre-defined name to it's related root; redirect the non-matched url's into another controller; To give you a more clear view over the problem, I want the first url parameter to be associated to certain pages (contacts, home, services, about us, etc), and those urls who doesn't match the previous pages would be routed into a controller called products, in order to determine if the first url parameter regards a product name. Here's a sample of what I have : $config['_default'] = 'home'; $config['([a-zA-Z]+)'] = 'products/showcat/$1'; What am I missing here? Thanks in advance!

  • what this `^` mean here in solr

    - by Rahul Mehta
I am confuse her but i want to clear my doubt. I think it is stupid question but i want to know. Use a TokenFilter that outputs two tokens (one original and one lowercased) for each input token. For queries, the client would need to expand any search terms containing upper case characters to two terms, one lowercased and one original. The original search term may be given a boost, although it may not be necessary given that a match on both terms will produce a higher score. text:NeXT ==> (text:NeXT^10 OR text:next) what this ^ mean here . http://wiki.apache.org/solr/SolrRelevancyCookbook#Relevancy_and_Case_Matching

  • SELECT with a Replace()

    - by andyjohnson
I have a table of names and addresses, which includes a postcode column. I want to strip the spaces from the postcodes and select any that match a particular pattern. I'm trying this (simplified a bit) in T-SQL on SQL Server 2005: SELECT Replace(Postcode, ' ', '') AS P FROM Contacts WHERE P LIKE 'NW101%' But I get the following error; Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Invalid column name 'P'. If I remove the WHERE clause I get a list of postcodes without spaces, which is what I want to search. How should I approach this? What am I doing wrong?

  • Designing a table to store EXIF data

    - by rafale
I'm looking to get the best performance out of querying a table containing EXIF data. The queries in question will only search the EXIF data for the specified strings and return the row index on a match. With that said, would it better to store the EXIF data in a table with separate columns for each of the tags, or would storing all of the tags in a single column as one long delimited string suit me just as well? There are around 115 EXIF tags I'll be storing, and each record would be around 1500 to 2000 chars in length if concatenated into a single string.

  • mysql left join

    - by user1019538
I have two table one is index and another is the price structure as under table : index : column : trandate ,indexcode Table : price : Column: trandate, symbol, price i want to know the missing price. I issue the query select i.trandate,i.indexcode,p.trandate,p.price from index i left join price p on i.trandate = p.trandate where p.symbol='ABC' and indexcode="New" the above query does not show the null date even though various price in missing in price table. Only reason i understand is that the index table does not have the symbol field that's why...but as per theory if you want to show all the rows of one table and only the match value of another table then use the left or right join query...please anybody can help

  • Why does this regular expression for sed break inside Makefile?

    - by jcrocholl
I'm using GNU Make 3.81, and I have the following rule in my Makefile: jslint : java org.mozilla.javascript.tools.shell.Main jslint.js mango.js \ | sed 's/Lint at line \([0-9]\+\) character \([0-9]\+\)/mango.js:\1:\2/' This works fine if I enter it directly on the command line, but the regular expression does not match if I run it with "make jslint". However, it works if I replace \+ with \{1,\} in the Makefile: jslint : java org.mozilla.javascript.tools.shell.Main jslint.js mango.js \ | sed 's/Lint at line \([0-9]\{1,\}\) character \([0-9]\{1,\}\)/mango.js:\1:\2/' Is there some special meaning to \+ in Makefiles, or is this a bug?

  • Disambiguating Named Entities in Java

    - by Alterscape
I have a list of strings (company names, in this case), and a Java program that extracts a list of things that look like company names out of mostly-unstructured text. I need to match each element of extracted text to a string in the list. Caveat: the unstructured text has typos, things like "Blah, Inc." referred to as "Blah," etc. I've tried Levenshtein Edit Distance, but that fails for predictable reasons. Are there known best-practices ways of tackling this problem? Or am I back to manual data-entry?

  • Finding shared list IDs in a MySQL table using bitwise operands

    - by landons
    I want to find items in common from the "following_list" column in a table of users: +----+--------------------+-------------------------------------+ | id | name | following_list | +----+--------------------+-------------------------------------+ | 9 | User 1 | 26,6,12,10,21,24,19,16 | | 10 | User 2 | 21,24 | | 12 | User 3 | 9,20,21,26,30 | | 16 | User 4 | 6,52,9,10 | | 19 | User 5 | 9,10,6,24 | | 21 | User 6 | 9,10,6,12 | | 24 | User 7 | 9,10,6 | | 46 | User 8 | 45 | | 52 | User 9 | 10,12,16,21,19,20,18,17,23,25,24,22 | +----+--------------------+-------------------------------------+ I was hoping to be able to sort by the number of matches for a given user id. For example, I want to match all users except #9 against #9 to see which of the IDs in the "following_list" column they have in common. I found a way of doing this through the "SET" datatype and some bit trickery: http://dev.mysql.com/tech-resources/articles/mysql-set-datatype.html#bits However, I need to do this on an arbitrary list of IDs. I was hoping this could be done entirely through the database, but this is a little out of my league. Any bit gurus out there? Thanks, Landon
