  • Custom iPad keyboard backspace method last character crash

    - by isaaclimdc
    I'm making a custom UI iPad keyboard app, and I'm doing something similar to this post for the backspace method: custom backspace button crashes iPhone app However, the app will always crash when I "backspace" for the last character in the UITextView. I know -substringToIndex won't work for an empty string, but I tried using a temporary mutable string then using -deleteCharactersInRange, and that crashed it too. I'm guessing the crash is due to me manually setting the -selectedRange property for the text view after deleting a character? But even if I do: textView.selectedRange = NSMakeRange(0, 0); the app will crash. Any ideas?

  • Anonymous method as function result

    - by iamjoosy
    What I want to do is to assign an anonymous method which I get as a function result to a variable of the same type. Delphi complains about not beeing able to do the assignement. Obviously Delphi things I want to assign the "GetListener" function instead of the result of that same function. Any help with this is very much appreciated. type TPropertyChangedListener = reference to procedure (Sender: TStimulus); TMyClass = class function GetListener:TPropertyChangedListener end; .... var MyClass: TMyClass; Listener: TPropertyChangedListener; begin MyClass:= TMyClass.create; Listener:= MyClass.GetListener; // Delphi compile error: E2010 Incompatible types: TPropertyChangedListener' and 'Procedure of object' end;

  • git can I speed up committing?

    - by AndreasT
    I have a big repository in a shared folder. I use git from within a VM on that folder. Everything works nice, but the repository is big and git's searching through all directories and files when committing is slow. I cannot move this repository out of the shared folder. I tried to git add specific files and directories, but when I do git commit -m "something" it still goes off onto it's oddyssey through the directory tree. Can I do commits that ignore the rest of the tree?

  • Android: chronometer widget and layout() method could not work well at the same time

    - by Lennard
    I write a test android app, in which there are only two views, a chronometer and a imageview. Using the layout() method of the imageview to dynamically change the position of it, I wish to implement drag-and-drop effect. It does work. However, each time the chronometer ticks, the imageview is always reverted to its original position, which seems that the whole screen is reloaded from the layout xml. So, does anybody know how to prevent the imageview from reverting to the original place, and let chronometer and drag-and-drop effect coexist? Thx

  • How do I set up for sharing code (ASP.NET) across multiple domain names?

    - by Scott J.
    I have built a website and now the customer wants to split it between three different domains. What is the best way to do this? This is what I have so far. c:/website1/ points to www.website1.com c:/website1/vd1/ points to www.website2.com c:/website1/vd2/ points to www.website3.com The webhost I'm working with has done it the following way, but now I'm getting a bunch of errors that seems like it's not seeing the App_code folder. Do I need to make a lot of changes? How does this affect the location references?

  • Why baseclass calls method of subclass?

    - by twlkyao
    I encounter some code like the following: BaseClass: public class BaseClass { String name = "Base"; public BaseClass() { printName(); } public void printName() { System.out.println(name + "——Base"); } } DrivedClass: public class SubClass extends BaseClass { String name = "Sub"; public SubClass() { printName(); } public void printName() { System.out.println(name + "——Sub"); } public static void main(String[] args) { new SubClass(); } } When run the code, the output is: null——Sub Sub——Sub while it should be: Base——Base Sub——Sub I wonder why the BaseClass constructor calls the SubClass method, can anybody explain this? Thanks in advance.

  • jquery split() and indexOf results in "Object doesn't support this property or method"

    - by chris
    I have the following code: var selected = $('#hiddenField').val().split(","); ... if (selected.indexOf(id) > 0) { ... set value ... } I'm dynamically creating a CheckBoxList, and trying to remember the state of the checkboxes by putting the selected IDs into the hidden field. I get an error stating that "Object doesn't support this property or method". My assumption is that selected is an array, which should support indexOf. Is that incorrect?

  • Need to create a string token dynamically base on which method is calling it

    - by sa
    This is a minimal code. I have the string Str which is used by various methods. I want to in getId method be able to do 2 things Assign class="PDP" to it and Give it a value3 So the final string looks like <tr class='PDP' id='{2}'> <td {0}</td><td>{1}</td></tr> But please note that I will need different values for class in different methods so some Str will have PDP, another will have PTM etc. Is there a clean way to achieve this . private const string Str = "<tr><td >{0}</td><td>{1}</td></tr>"; public static string getId() { string field=string.Format(str, value1,value2, found=true? value3:""); }

  • Multiple (variant) arguments overloading in Java: What's the purpose?

    - by fortran
    Browsing google's guava collect library code, I've found the following: // Casting to any type is safe because the list will never hold any elements. @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of() { return (ImmutableList<E>) EmptyImmutableList.INSTANCE; } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of(E element) { return new SingletonImmutableList<E>(element); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of(E e1, E e2) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of(E e1, E e2, E e3) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of(E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3, e4)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of(E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3, e4, e5)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of(E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of( E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6, E e7) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6, e7)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of( E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6, E e7, E e8) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6, e7, e8)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of( E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6, E e7, E e8, E e9) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>( ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6, e7, e8, e9)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of( E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6, E e7, E e8, E e9, E e10) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>(ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList( e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6, e7, e8, e9, e10)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of( E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6, E e7, E e8, E e9, E e10, E e11) { return new RegularImmutableList<E>(ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList( e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6, e7, e8, e9, e10, e11)); } public static <E> ImmutableList<E> of( E e1, E e2, E e3, E e4, E e5, E e6, E e7, E e8, E e9, E e10, E e11, E e12, E... others) { final int paramCount = 12; Object[] array = new Object[paramCount + others.length]; arrayCopy(array, 0, e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6, e7, e8, e9, e10, e11, e12); arrayCopy(array, paramCount, others); return new RegularImmutableList<E>(ImmutableList.<E>nullCheckedList(array)); } And although it seems reasonable to have overloads for empty and single arguments (as they are going to use special instances), I cannot see the reason behind having all the others, when just the last one (with two fixed arguments plus the variable argument instead the dozen) seems to be enough. As I'm writing, one explanation that pops into my head is that the API pre-dates Java 1.5; and although the signatures would be source-level compatible, the binary interface would differ. Isn't it?

  • Pattern or recommneded refactoring for method

    - by iKode
    I've written a method that looks like this: public TimeSlotList processTimeSlots (DateTime startDT, DateTime endDT, string bookingType, IList<Booking> normalBookings, GCalBookings GCalBookings, List<DateTime> otherApiBookings) { { ..... common process code ...... while (utcTimeSlotStart < endDT) { if (bookingType == "x") { //process normal bookings using IList<Booking> normalBookings } else if (bookingType == "y") { //process google call bookings using GCalBookings GCalBookings } else if (bookingType == "z" { //process other apibookings using List<DateTime> otherApiBookings } } } So I'm calling this from 3 different places, each time passing a different booking type, and each case passing the bookings I'm interested in processing, as well as 2 empty objects that aren't used for this booking type. I'm not able to get bookings all into the same datatype, which would make this easier and each booking type needs to be processed differently, so I'm not sure how I can improve this. Any ideas?

  • Python method to remove iterability

    - by Debilski
    Suppose I have a function which can either take an iterable/iterator or a non-iterable as an argument. Iterability is checked with try: iter(arg). Depending whether the input is an iterable or not, the outcome of the method will be different. Not when I want to pass a non-iterable as iterable input, it is easy to do: I’ll just wrap it with a tuple. What do I do when I want to pass an iterable (a string for example) but want the function to take it as if it’s non-iterable? E.g. make that iter(str) fails.

  • How can I selectively override a django .count() method

    - by Tom Viner
    I'm using postGresSQL and my main table has about 20,000 rows. Sometimes count() methods can take ages or even timeout. Mod.manager.filter(...).count() I need to selectively override the count() method depending on what filter has been applied. Just having a cache of results would be a great gain but I'd like to be able to say: if filter query is just {'enabled'=True} then return 20,000 without touching the db. Note: I can't prevent the call to .count() as it's inside django's pagination, which always does a count.

  • How can I create a generic constructor? (ie. BaseClass.FromXml(<param>)

    - by SofaKng
    I'm not sure how to describe this but I'm trying to create a base class that contains a shared (factory) function called FromXml. I want this function to instantiate an object of the proper type and then fill it via an XmlDocument. For example, let's say I have something like this: Public Class XmlObject Public Shared Function FromXml(ByVal source as XmlDocument) As XmlObject // <need code to create SPECIFIC TYPE of object and return it End Function End Class Public Class CustomObject Inherits XmlObject End Class I'd like to be able to do something like this: Dim myObject As CustomObject = CustomObject.FromXml(source) Is this possible?

  • Why are so many new languages written for the Java VM?

    - by sdudo
    There are more and more programming languages (Scala, Clojure,...) coming out that are made for the Java VM and are therefore compatible with the Java Byte-Code. I'm beginning to ask myself: Why the Java VM? What makes it so powerful or popular that there are new programming languages, which seem gaining popularity too, created for it? Why don't they write a new VM for a new language?

  • Prevent mapping all public members of a class in Fluent NHibernate

    - by alimbada
    I have a class generated from a WSDL that has a bunch of public properties and a public event. I'm extending this class with my own and adding some properties to it. All of my own properties are declared virtual, but the base class properties are not virtual. I'm using Fluent NHibernate's ClassMap to map only the properties from my extended class. How do I prevent (Fluent)NHibernate from trying to persist all the base class's public members? At the moment, I get the following exception when creating the ISessionFactory: NHibernate.InvalidProxyTypeException: The following types may not be used as proxies: Type: method get_<BaseClassProperty should be 'public/protected virtual' or 'protected internal virtual' Type: method set_<BaseClassProperty should be 'public/protected virtual' or 'protected internal virtual' ... Type: method add_<BaseClassEvent should be 'public/protected virtual' or 'protected internal virtual' Type: method remove_<BaseClassEvent should be 'public/protected virtual' or 'protected internal virtual'

How do I merge (?) multiple branches into the release tag, while still maintaining diffs and such? I've given an example of our workflow below. Multiple devs pull to local Create feature branch Commit to branch Use branch to build QA (Here is where my question starts) I need to have all the branches for the next build to be put into a build tag to be used to build Production

  • Passing an empty IEnumerable argument to a method

    - by avance70
    I have this method (simplified): void DoSomething(IEnumerable<int> numbers); And I invoke it like this: DoSomething(condition==true?results:new List<int>()); The variable results is formed with a LINQ select condition (IEnumerable). I was wondering is this List<int>() the best way (the fastest?) to pass an empty collection, or is new int[0] better? Or, something else would be faster, a Collection, etc.? In my example null wouldn't be ok.

  • How communicate with pty via minicom or screen?

    - by gscott2112
    I am trying to provide an AT/Modem-like interface around some hardware. Follwing this post I have the server setting up a pty using openpty(). Now I can communicate with the server as expected with a client app that open the slave and communicates via read() and write() calls. However I would also like to be able to use either the screen command or minicom to issue commands by hand to the slave. However the server never seems to receive any data when trying to do this. Is there something significant I am missing with this approach?

  • Final enum in Thread's run() method

  • What is the right way to pass class parameters to a method

    - by Schneider
