    lately I tryed a few times to create charakters for some games, but at some certain point (especially when collision detection came in) everything became messy and the interaction between chars, the world and certain items had a lot of bugs. So here is my question, how do you ussualy keep track of actions that your charakter is allowed to do, or more in general do you have some links / advices how to set up a char efficiantly? I´m working on a char right now, who should at least be able to run, jump, pick items up and use different fighting animations. Most ideas I came up with until now use some kind of action.priority / action.duration system to determain whats possible and what not, or a "action-manager" which defines for every action what is possible from that action on but it all doesnt work that well together =\ thx in advance for some input

    Until now I have been using C# with XNA for 2d and a little bit of 3d games, althought I dont remember that I finished any of them I want to start working with C++. I have a very very little exprience with C++ and my question is where to start? I have a Timer object that uses QueryPerformanceCounter and I don't know what's the better choice: use only one timer in the game loop to update everything in the game, or an independent timer in every object that needs one. My worry is that when I try to implement threads, what will happen with timers? What happens with the sync?

    I've been working on a top secret project that has potential of becoming very popular. No one has done anything like it. The problem is I have no motivation to finish it, and its about 70% done. I also don't have the ability to sell & market the product. The documentation is a pain to write. I just want to finish the project , receive my reward and move on to other things.
