• IIS restart causes many Connection_Abandoned_By_AppPool messages in log

  After about half a day the IIS 6.0 ASP (VBScript) web server appears to die. It accepts TCP connections (i.e. I can telnet localhost 80 successfully) however it does not return any response. When I restart the server (going through My Computer - Manage - IIS - All Tasks - Restart) I get a lot of entries in C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\HTTPERR\httperr1.log at the time of restart that say: ... 80 HTTP/1.1 GET / - 843545307 Connection_Abandoned_By_AppPool DefaultAppPool ... 80 HTTP/1.0 GET / - 843545307 Connection_Abandoned_By_AppPool DefaultAppPool ... 80 HTTP/1.0 GET / - 843545307 Connection_Abandoned_By_AppPool DefaultAppPool where the ... refers to the prefix of the line, e.g. 2010-03-17 10:05:06 127.0.0.1 4927 127.0.0.1 80 There are 583 such lines (Connection_Abandoned_By_AppPool) in my log at time of restart. What could be the cause of this problem?

• Monitoring outgoing messages using EXIM

  I work as an IT guy in a law firm. I am recently asked to make a system wherein all the outgoing emails coming from our server to our clients will be put on hold first and wait for approval before it gets sent to the client. Our mail server uses Exim (that's what it says in cPanel). I am planning to create filters where the outgoing emails will be forwarded to an editor account. Then, the editor will review and edit the contents of the email. When the editor already approves the email, it will then get sent to the client by the editor but still using the original sender in the "From:" and "Reply-To:" field. I found some pointers from this site = http://www.devco.net/archives/2006/03/24/saving_copies_of_all_email_using_exim.php. Once the filters are in place, I want to make a simple PHP interface for the editor to check the forwarded emails and edit them if necessary. The editor can then click on an "Approve" button that will finally deliver the message using the original sender. I'm also thinking that maybe a PHP-less system will be enough. The editor can receive the emails from his own email client edit them and simply send the email as if he is the original sender. Is my plan feasible? Will there be issues that I have overlooked? Does it have the danger of being treated as spam by the other mailservers since I'll be messing up the headers?

• Email server can send internal, but messages never arrive at external recipients

  I'm running MailEnable on my server, and have been for many years. Recently we had an attack on our server, and I was able to close the hole. Since then, our mail server doesn't seem to be sending mail out. If I send an email from myself to another account hosted on the server, the email arrives as expected. If I send an email from my gmail account to my business account, the email also arrives as expected The problem comes when I send from my business account to an external domain I tried the following Gmail.com Hotmail.com Shaw.ca When I send to any of the above The message leaves my client as expected, The logs appear to accept and forward on the message The SMTP outbound que is empty The message never arrives I have checked our domain with mxtoolbox.com senderbase.org And neither of them are reporting any problems with our domain. • Asp.net error messages when on server are not displayed

  I have been tasked with setting up asp.net websites on a windows server 2008 which are all in debug mode When browsing a website on the server and an error occurs, for example the database connection cannot be open I would expect as per normal to receive the Asp.net Server error page with an error dump Something like - http://www.codeproject.com/KB/books/1861005040/image091.gif However, what actually happens is I get random characters on the web page. For example: <?)=????*??2o????v??YK?WuZ,?6[N??f?O??b??@!???u]S??yQ?iN?&e???E???j??1z??x??????o?y????U??M???2d?i?4 This is not the correct or expected behaviour. The event log does however show what has gone wrong. How do I get the Server Error page to render properly, am I missing something in the servers asp.net setup?

• Hotmail marking messages as junk

  I was having problems with emails sent from my server being blocked completely by Hotmail, but I found out Hotmail had blocked my IP and by contacting Hotmail I had the block removed. See this question for more info: Email sent from server with rDNS & SPF being blocked by Hotmail But now all emails from my server are going directly to recipients "Junk" folder on hotmail and I can't figure out why. Hotmail says "Microsoft SmartScreen marked this message as junk and we'll delete it after ten days." I tried contacting the same people at Hotmail who had my IP block removed, but I haven't received any reply and its been almost a week. Here are some details: I have a valid SPF record for my domain "v=spf1 a include:_spf.google.com ~all" I have reverse DNS setup I have a Sender Score of 100 https://www.senderscore.org/lookup.php?lookup=66.199.162.177&ipLookup.x=55&ipLookup.y=14 I have signed up for Microsoft's SNDS and was approved. • Messages fail to deliver when sending out a mass email

  A client of mine sent out a mass email to a bunch of people on his contact list. A bounceback email was received by my client stating that: "The server has tried to deliver this message, without success, and has stopped trying. Please try sending this message again. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk." That error is associated with every recipient in that mass email. Any ideas on where to look to resolve this? He is able to send and recieve other emails normally.

• How to retrieve old facebook/XMPP messages as well as new with kopete?

  I have been considering using Kopete to use Facebook chat instead of logging on to Facebook with a web browser. That way, I can integrate messages with my KDE desktop better. The problem is, when I open Kopete, I am unable to see messages that I recieved in Facebook while Kopete was not opened. I can only see messages that I sent or received when Kopete was open. The same thing happens in Outlook.com (which is a website that connects to Facebook), Pidgin software, and other instant messaging tools. So my question is, how can I receive these messages with a desktop chat application in KDE, such as Kopete? Facebook has made their API publicly available to developers, and KDE has its own Facebook integration plugin. So it would seem achievable.

• Mac ASL: Unable to see my application's log messages

  I have just added ASL logging support to my application but I cannot see any log entries using Console.app. I am logging with facility 'com.mydomain.myapp' (that's not the actual value) and have even added an entry to /private/etc/asl.conf to tell syslogd to 'store' entries at this Facility (with any Level): ? [= Facility com.mydomain.myapp] store I HUP'd syslogd with no success so I restarted my MacBook Pro, which also made no difference. I know my application is logging OK as I have added the option ASL_OPT_STDERR when calling asl_open() and can see the entries on stderr. Any help would be must appreciated!

A bunch of users have been migrated already without problems. However, one of the users is having trouble receiving emails from others. When someone sends to him, they get an Undeliverable NDR that says "A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients." The message shows the user's distinguished name as /OU=OurDomain/CN=Recipients/CN=USER57137172. The user's account name should just be "USER", so I don't know where the extra numbers ("57137172") are coming from. Thanks in advance.

Recovered STDP11N, however, still receiving pop up window with error message each time outlook opens. Had accidentally cleaned up old programs and suddenly this was missing. Reinstalled Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003 using install CD. Outlook worked buit keep getting error message pop up each time I open Outlook. Hit ok. Error Message #2: The path 'Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'STDP11N.MSI' in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003."   Users on my server have been receiving spam, consistently, for some time now. I have most of spamassassin's plugins enabled, and I have made sure to enable verbose logging, where I can see that all of the plugins are working. Why is it, then, that my users are able to receive the same exact junk mail several times in a day without the message being flagged in some way? Here are the relevant headers of an email that I personally have received several copies of: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.3.1 (2010-03-16) on sub.domain.tld X-Spam-Level: *** X-Spam-Status: No, score=3.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_50,FSL_HELO_NON_FQDN_1, HELO_NO_DOMAIN,HTML_MESSAGE,RCVD_IN_BRBL_LASTEXT,RDNS_NONE autolearn=no version=3.3.1 Have I accidentally missed the plugin that can see that I, and others, have received the same message multiple times in a short period of time?

• Postfix "mail-to-script" pipe only delivers empty messages

  i have a problem here. I want that a incoming email is piped to a php script in the system through postfix. My System is running with ispconfig 3, postfix and dovecot (< virtual mailbox users are saved in mysql). I looked already into this one: How to configure postfix to pipe all incoming email to a script? ... the script is executed, but no "message" is delivered to the script. • Postfix not sending/allowing receiving of messages after server (hardware) changed

  We had na old notebook runing Ubuntu 12.04 working as a web/ftp/mail server and it worked but since the notebook was a notebook and pretty old and unreliable, a desktop was bought to replace it before it stopped working all together. Due to issues with the new desktop's vídeo card, we couldn't use Ubuntu 12.04 so we installed Ubuntu 13.10 and wen't about configuring it. Since we removed the notebook from the network, we kept the same Computer Name and local IP address to make things as close to the old server as possible configuration-wise. However, something has gone wrong since Postfix is throwing error 451 4.3.0 lookup faillure on every attempt to send a mail, and no email can be received either. EDIT: Here are some issues MXToolBox reports to my domain, answering hopefully to @Teun Vink: BlackList Mail Server Web Server DNS Error 4 0 2 0 Warnings 0 0 0 3 Passed 0 6 3 12 So the domain is on some blacklist, but that doesn't explain the error at all No mail server issues found (except it's not working) Those two web server errors it's because i don't have HTTPS workin (No SSL Certificate) so the test fails Those 3 DNS warnings we're already there when it was working with the other machine and are related to stuff i can't control: SOA Refresh Value is outside of the recommended range SOA Expire Value out of recommended range SOA NXDOMAIN Value too high I've searched and as far as i can tell only the guys who sold the retail can change those values and they won't. Edit2: I half solved the issue.on the new machine postfix was installed but postfix-mysql waasn't so he couldn't connect to the database (rookie mistake). After fixing that, i can now send mails to the outsider without any issues, however i am still not able to receive mails from utside.   Hello everyone I am using microsoft exchange 2003 on windows 2003 small business server. For the past month or so, the archiver account has been receiving multiple copies (about 15 or so) of each and every email. edit: All copies share the same Message ID. The machine that hosts exchange is updated religiously and an antivirus scan is run on a daily basis. So would anyone please have any ideas about how to deal with this and furthermore, how i would be able to delete the multiple copies of emails from outlook 2003 inbox. • Hardware issue, bsod with windows xp irq and strange messages with ubuntu

  I have an old Acer T160 and it used to run Windows XP. But I keep getting random BSOD's. I keep seeing IRQ conflicts. I tried to run ubuntu, which runs and keeps running. But sometimes is not responding. Also there are these popups at ubuntu 12.04 that my network cable (which is onboard) is unplugged. But I have no cable in it! and have an usb dongle for wifi. which also seems unstable. have to (auto)reconnect sometimes. So my question is: is it my mobo, power supply or something else? FYI: I had an dvd-rw station which did not open properly, so unplugged the ata and power, als removed the second harddrive. now only have sata harddrive. also removed the extra video card (ati sapphire x1600 pro) so use only onboard video now and still have these issues. EDIT Update: will try with a new PSU (power supply unit of 400watt) the old (factory) one was 300watt. and will use a usb drive which has 12.04 ubuntu on it (made with unetbootin) to format everything and re-install ubuntu. (so also delete mbr partition) will update the day after tomorrow.

  I'm trying to find an example to show where data is sent from somewhere, whether manually or automatically, and is received IMMEDIATELY by the recipient, (doesn't matter whether we're talking mobile, desktop or whatever). An even better example would be where there were multiple recipients for the same message. It doesn't matter what the data is or the context it's used in, only the immediacy of receiving it. I was thinking that there might be some example in finance and the stock markets, but I haven't been able to find any through googling. IM clients are a great example of this and I think I'm basically looking for examples of applications that communicate over sockets. If anyone works on applications of this nature or knows of particular implementations, can you give me a quick run down of the use case and if it's commercial software the name of the software. However, whenever thunderbird checks the mail for me, it moves my mail from the inbox (on gmail) to the "All Mail" folder. How can I prevent it from doing this?

  I'm trying to find an example to show where data is sent from a server and is pushed to a/multiple clients which are updated immediately, i.e. the client doesn't make requests for updates. It doesn't matter whether we're talking mobile, desktop or whatever. An even better example would be where there were multiple recipients for the same message. • TCP > COM1 for receiving messages and displaying on POS display pole

  I currently have a Java Applet running on my web page that communicates to a display pole via COM1. However since the Java update I can no longer run self-signed Java Applets and I figure it would just be easier to send an AJAX request back to the server and have the server send a response to a TCP port on the computer...the computer would need a TCP COM virtual adapter. How do I install a virtual adapter to go from a TCP port to COM1? I've looked into com0com and that is just confusing as hell to me, and I don't see how to connect any ports to COM1. I've tried tcp2com but it doesn't seem to install the service in Windows 7 x64. I've tried com2tcp and the interface seems like it WOULD work (I haven't tested), but I don't want an app running on the desktop...it needs to be a service that runs in the background. So to summarize how it would work: Web page on comp1 sends AJAX request to server Server sends text response to comp1 on port 999 comp1 has virtual COM port listening on port 999, sends data to COM1 pole displays data

• TB3.0.10: Messages being sent back to me

  Hello, I don't know if this will make any sense to you; but here goes. When I send an email and I get a response, more often than not, in the 'to:' is my email address. However, my email address also ends up in the 'from' column.The 'reply-from' address is nowhere to be found;so I don't have any address with which I can send my reply, as both of them have just my email address. What am I doing wrong here? Is there some set-up in my TOOLOPTIONS set-up incorrectly? The set-up in OPTIONS is pretty difficult to understand and it doesn't offer any 'to' or 'reply-from' choices. This is critical because I just cannot answer my emails because there is no one I can send a reply to. Please, please try to help me. I once come across the problem that my iPhone rejects receiving new SMS but all the SMS are so important that I don't want to delete them. So I simply need to backup your iPhone SMS onto computer or print them or transfer to another iPhone? • Mail.app slow to include new messages

  With Leopard I was able to link to the University's Exchange 2003 server with and IMAP connection and mail out directly vie the SMTP client. With Snow Leopard I attempted to update to a full Exchange service (Exchange 2007). Almost all has worked OK (ical, address, etc.) except that new mail posted to my email account, which is visible using a 'web' interface to Exchange remains invisible for some random number of hours. Those who are running the Exchange server have no interest in discussing the problem. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
