• Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 crashes - ieframe.dll

  Outlook 2010 is crashing rather randomly, not at any specific time like opening a preview pane or message. Event viewer gives the following Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 14.0.6131.5000, time stamp: 0x509b1020 Faulting module name: ieframe.dll, version: 9.0.8112.16464, time stamp: 0x50ec98f5 Similar events have been logged only with URLMON.DLL, but with ieframe.dll more frequent. I'm looking where to start with this problem, and I'm starting with running outlook in safe mode using Outlook /safe from the start menu. Further complicating this issue are 2 programs syncing email to other calenders. Should I start with these additional programs that are syncing email as being possible culprits? Or does this have to do with Internet Explorer because of the DLL associated with these crashes? I've tried regsvr32 with both DLL's mentioned, with ieframe being unsuccessful. So my question is: what's causing Outlook to crash?

• Computer crashes and freezes a lot

  My computer crashes like it freezes sometimes but sometimes it jumps to a black screen which I can do nothing about other than restart. I tested if it has anything to do with the programs I normally run or with the ones I installed, but it's a long time I have the problem and I think it also happened in the beginning that I bought this computer. To make sure, I normally run skype and Spiral Knights and some animation softwares like Flash. The specs are: Nvidia geforce gtx 560 evga Asus p8H67-m evo motherboard 16 gb ram Intel i7 What can I do about it? What issue is more probable to cause the problem?

• Acer Aspire 5532 crashes with no warning

  I have an Acer Aspire 5532. I don't have more specs off the top of my head but from what I've looked up it has all the factory stock stuff in. My keyboard is completely shot and doesn't work at all. It was working fine for quite a while, however I go to get on it Thanksgiving night and all of a sudden it just crashes with no warning. I try to restart it and it beeps 3 times with about 15 seconds in between each beep. After that it will go to start up and get to the log in screen, and about 3 minutes later it will crash again with absolutely no warning. The same thing happens every time I try to start it up. I've taken it completely apart and cleaned the fan and all the airways. I made sure all the connections are good (or at least all the ones that I can get to above the mother board), put it back together and I get the same problem.

• Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) subpixel font rendering crashes Xorg

  Hi everyone... I really don't know how to solve this on my own so I thought giving this site a chance. After upgrading to Lucid I ran into some problems. With some experimenting I came to a conclusion that if I enable subpixel smoothing on fonts the moment I start any other application not native to GTK+ (wine, openoffice, wxWidgets, ...) my X server crashes the same moment. At first this seemed like something went wrong during installation. To cut the long story short, after 3 clean installations and whole bunch of experimenting the same thing happens all over again. Strange thing is... if I configure any other font smoothing besides subpixel, everything works like it should. Any thoughs?

• Why does compiz window decorator crashes unity

  I used to run Unity 2D on my work machine. Now I am trying to use Unity. Everthing looks fine except for the missing window decoration. I have installed the compiz manager. Every time I activate the plugin "window decoration" Unity "crashes" the Unity bar along with the top panel . unity --reset oder replace does nothing. The command for the window manager is /usr/bin/compiz-decorator Maybe I need to specify another window decorator?

• Application crashes when installing on Windows 7 but not on Windows XP

  At my company, we're migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7. We've got 2 home made applications written in C# with the .NET framework 3.5. They use ClickOnce to be installed. We're in the test phase and the installation of these soft crashes on some Windows 7 machines and doesn't on others. The difference between these machines should be the configuration of the policies. The only error message we've got is this one: I tried to find some logs somewhere but there's nothing neither in the Event Viewer nor in the applications log (wich are poorly logged, then I'm not expecting miracle from this side :( ) These applications: work with FTP servers use WCF use old deprecated libraries (as I'm not at work, I'll edit this post when I'll have the info) use nHibernate 2 use LLBLGen use a deprecated Infragistics library export data into Excel files Did you encounter such an issue while migrating? Or do you have an idea where I should investigate on?

• Problems with Program startup in WIn 7 this week

  I have a program (ISYS) that I have been using since 2006. It migrated successfully to Windows 7. Just yesterday it started manifesting this strange behavior. The program has a selector to allow you to select a directory that might have relevant files for the program. As of yesterday the program will only let me select folders on the C drive. For example I have a folder on D that I need to access with this program - from the GUI when I select the D drive the directory list does not load, instead it churns away using 17% of the CPU cycles. I have let it run for an hour several times. I have found that I can get the directory I want by using a batch file to start the program but this limits my ability to do certain things I really need to use the GUI. I did a number of reboots and other tests - I disconnected drives but once I try to select some directory on a drive other than C it churns away. I have experimented quite a bit and am convinced (which means I am wrong) that this has something to do with some setting change on my computer that I can't figure out as I don't see any updates. Since ISYS has not been updated I feel confident it is something internal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• Program crashes in debugger before anything happens

  I'm building an application for Windows XP using the MinGW tool chain and it sometimes crashes unexpectedly. So, I'm trying to use a debugger (Gdb) but the program exits with code 03 before anything happens. In fact, all I see from GDB is: [New thread 3184.0x7b8][New thread 3184.0xef8] Program exited with code 03. My suspicion is that there is some failed dynamic linking of a dependency (which are Qt, VTK, and ITK, all built with MinGW). However, this does not happen when I just run the program normally. Or if it happens, it appears to be intermittent and well after the program is launched and running. NOTE: I'm also using Cmake for cross compiling. What should I do? What can I try?

  I run an Qt app I've built: ./App Segmentation fault I run it with strace: strace ./App execve("./App", ["./App"], [/* 27 vars */]) = 0 --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) --- +++ killed by SIGSEGV +++ Process 868 detached Again, no useful info. I run it with gdb: (gdb) run Starting program: /root/test/App Reading symbols from shared object read from target memory...(no debugging symbols found)...done. Loaded system supplied DSO at 0xffffe000 Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00000001 in ?? () Again, nothing. I run it with valgrind: ==948== Process terminating with default action of signal 11 (SIGSEGV) ==948== Bad permissions for mapped region at address 0x0 ==948== at 0x1: (within /root/test/App) Even if I put in debugging symbols, it doesn't give any more useful info. ldd shows all libraries being linked properly. Is there any other way I can find out what's wrong? I can't even do standard printf, cout, etc debugging. The executable doesn't even seem to start running at all. I rebuilt with symbols, and tried the suggestion below (gdb) break main Breakpoint 1 at 0x45470 (gdb) run Starting program: /root/test/App Breakpoint 1 at 0x80045470 Reading symbols from shared object read from target memory...done. • Externally disabling signals for a Linux program.

  Hello, On Linux, is it possible to somehow disable signaling for programs externally... that is, without modifying their source code? Context: I'm calling a C (and also a Java) program from within a bash script on Linux. I don't want any interruptions for my bash script, and for the other programs that the script launches (as foreground processes). While I can use a... trap '' INT ... in my bash script to disable the Ctrl C signal, this works only when the program control happens to be in the bash code. That is, if I press Ctrl C while the C program is running, the C program gets interrupted and it exits! This C program is doing some critical operation because of which I don't want it be interrupted.   I am trying to write a caesar cipher program in c++.   EDIT: The memory leaks turned out to be unrelated to the crashes. Leaks are fixed but crashes remain, still mysterious. My (iPhone) app does lots of PDF loading and rendering, some of it threaded. Sometime, it seems always after I flush a page cash after getting a memory warning, the app crashes with a bad access when trying to draw a pdf page stored in an NSData object. • Running a program in another one?

  Hi, I've written a program in C++. It's just using the console to have it as portable as possible. Unfortunately, many Windows-Users seem not to understand how to use the program (Linux Users are just fine with it :) ). So I'd like to write a GUI for that program. As this needs to run on Windows only, I'd like to write it in C#. But I want to maintain the GUI apart from the original program. So basically, I need a way to include a compiled *.exe into another program. Is there a way to catch the console output from another program and send inputs to it? • Node-webkit works on Mac, crashes and can't load module on Windows

  I've created a full node-webkit app that works fine on the Mac OSX version of node-webkit. Everything works, it loads a key external nodeJS module (marked), and the world is good. However, when I try to run the app on the Windows version of Node-webkit as described in the Wiki, the app crashes immediately (in fact, it crashes immediately when I try all the options: dragging a folder onto nw.exe, dragging an app.nw compressed folder, and running both from the command line). The only thing that gets me closer is opening nw.exe and then pointing the node-webkit location bar to the index file. Then I get this error: Uncaught node.js Error Error: Cannot find module 'marked' I tried commenting out the code that requires marked: var marked = require('marked'); That returns the app to crashing immediately. I assumed it was because of context issues between node.js and the node-webkit browser, but those seem to not be at fault since I tried this suggestion to make sure it finds the correct file for the marked module...went right back to immediate crashing. I'm out of ideas because the crashes don't seem to leave me any way of knowing what the error was.

  Hi all, I need a Windows tool records inputs and debugging informations that cause program's crashing. I don't mean a fuzzing tool ! Ammmmm ... let me show you a scenario may explain what I'm talking about. Sometimes during using a program, It's crashed without known reason ! and when I want to debug it, I will not find helpful informations to know how the crash happened. Because that the data that cause the crash no longer exist. So I need a tool records all the inputs and debugging informations to find helpful informations to reuse the inputs data to make the program crashes under a debaucher in order to understand how the crash happen.

• Pinta crashes on load in Windows 7 x64 Home Premium

  Unfortunately I can't really give much more information unless anybody can suggest where I should look for logs or dumps etc? Simply put, when I load the program I immediately get the error "Pinta Has Stopped Working". I have tried: Running as administrator Installing to different partitions Installing to folders with no spaces in directory structure I have installed the GTK# for .Net 2.12.9 as required in order to install Pinta. Thanks for any help!

• Navicat 8/9 crashes my Debian/Linux

  I run Debian 5 + Gnome and it seems that after I made certain updates with aptitude, whenever I run a query in Navicat ( sql program that runs on WINE ), as the results are being presented linux goes into the command line and the GUI dies and it restarts and it asks me to login again ( all my programs crash ). Has anyone experienced this before? Or does anyone have a clue as to how I could go about debugging this? I suspect it's some issue with Gnome and WINE, but I'm not sure.
