• How do I map a texture onto a Octahedron?

  I'm about to go mad. I cant for the life of me figure out texture coords. I have a Octahedron defined by the 8 triangles below. I want to map a texture of the earth on it. See the texture here: http://img37.imageshack.us/f/earthmap1k.jpg/ I would like the north pole at the top point and the south pole at the oposite point with the equator wrapped around the center points.   I need to parse JavaDoc (documentation) comment syntax with Delphi 7. It is well known in the java world as "JavaDoc", but I'm actually doing this for PHP, ie, parsing JavaDoc in some PHP code. Call it PHPDoc if you want to. To see how these comments work, you can see RAD IDEs like NetBeans etc. Example of JavaDoc for addition function: /** * Adds to numbers together. * @param integer $a The first number. * @param integer $b The second number. * @return integer The resulting number. */ function add($a,$b){ return $a+$b; } Please note that the parser need not be full, ie, parsing all of the PHP code. • Cannot execute cut-n-paste VBScripts

  I have been going mad trying to figure out why my scripts weren't working, until I started copying and pasting sample source code directly from a few websites only to have it fail there as well. I am getting the following error in my VBScripts: C:\temp\vbs\script.vbs(19, 53) Microsoft VBScript compilation error: Expected statement' For a line of code that looks like this: wdoc.Application.Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll This is interfacing with Microsft Word in Office 2007 to conduct a search and replace. Index 53 point directly to the := part of the assignment. Since this type of syntax doesn't work on my machine and I am using it from several websites, I was wondering if the cscript.exe I use is out of date. Am I not calling cscript properly?

• Is there such a thing as a converter from php to html?

  Don't think that I'm mad, I understand how php works! That being said. I develop personal website and I usually take advantage of php to avoid repetion during the development phase nothing truly dynamic, only includes for the menus, a couple of foreach and the likes. When the development phase ends I need to give the website in html files to the client. Is there a tool (crawler?) that can do this for me instead of visiting each page and saving the interpreted html?

• SharePoint WSS 3.0 - Fastest approach to build data-bound forms?

  Pardon the vague question, but I've just inherited a project to build a couple dozen forms pulling data from a SQL 2005 database. The forms are mostly standard database lookups with just a couple updates so the data layer is very simple -- I'm the DBA -- but we just recently started using SharePoint WSS 3.0 for a departmental web site and I would prefer to integrate these forms into WSS rather than build a separate standalone ASP.NET app. I'm hoping there is some RAD framework out there that integrates with WSS for data bound forms. I've been searching online, but haven't found anything very promising and the data viewer web part in SharePoint Designer looks complicated to integrate with an external SQL database. TIA, Rusty

  Background: My organization uses Microsoft .Net (3.5) with SQL Server 2005 as back end. With RAD being the norm and Agile being the widely used process. I have always found using design patterns difficult since it involves a bit more understanding and bit more training. Can you give me some examples where design patterns have solved real time problems in Web programming? What is the criteria for using any design pattern? What is the benefit reaped from it. • How do I pass (by value) a struct in Objective-C?

  This one has been driving me mad! I have a struct: typedef struct{ int a; }myStruct; Then I have: myStruct tempStruct; I am trying to pass the struct to a class method whose implementation is: - (void) myFunc:(struct myStruct)oneOfMyStructs{}; I call the method like so: [myClass myFunc:(struct myStruct)tempStruct]; The compiler complains about "Conversion to non-scalar type requested." All I want to do is pass a struct into a class method, but the syntax has me a bit confused. I'm new to Objective-C. Please let me know if you can see where I'm going wrong. I've not been able to pass by reference either, so if you could help me out with that, that would be great! Thanks!

• Background color of the main content on the html page disappears

  It just makes me go mad. I can't realize what the problem is. Please have a look at the pixeli.ca/glass. There is a home page that looks good - white background of the main content and looks good. But all the other pages don't have white background so they look not the way they should look. All the pages have the same style sheet and the same layout elements taken from 960.gs framework. It's just some kind of mystery there. What I need is to make all page look like the home page - having white background. Thanks.

• Background Image displaying in Design view but not in browser? (Visual Studio 2008)

  I'm new to CSS and this issue in Visual Studio is driving me mad! I have a background image defined within a simple style sheet... body { background-image: url(Images\Greenhouse.jpg); background-position: center; } My style sheet is referenced within the HTML code... <head runat="server"> <title></title> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Stylesheet.css"/> </head> The background image shows in design view but in the browser, nothing! I've tried changing position etc and refreshed the browser, cleared the cache etc. This happens with all my images. Images are within the project folder (\Images) and added to the solution explorer in VS. Tried "", changing image file names etc, nothing is working!

• Object pointer value as key into dictionary

  I want to use the object's reference value as a key into a dictionary, as opposed to a copy of value of the object. So, I essentially want to store an object associated with a particular instance of another object in a dictionary and retrieve that value later. Is this possible? Is it completely against the idea of NSDictionary? I can tell that I am probably approaching this the wrong way because the dictionary wants me to implement NSCopying on the object itself, which doesn't really make sense in terms of what I'm doing. I can see that what I should really be doing is wrapping the pointer value, but that seems a little mad. Advice would be appreciated.

• Find a control by String from asp.net Web service

  Well since it seems relatively difficult to send the object of a WebControl over JSON using jquery.ajax() I've decided to send the name of the control as a string because I know how to do that. Then I promptly realized that, from a web service, I don't actually know how to search for a control by ID name. Since its a service I can't seem to get Control.FindControl() to work so does anyone have ideas or suggestions? All I'm trying to do is call a databind() on my radcombobox. Thanks in advance! For any of you that knows anything about asp.net/rad controls - I'm basically updating a database and want the radcombobox to be in sync with that database again after adding something, before I autoselect what was just added. Other than databind do i have to call anything to refresh that list? Thanks again!

• Write Local File using Adobe Air Iframe

  This is driving me mad. I am creating an AIR application and everything is working great. However I would really like to have a form inside an Iframe that when the user clicks submit saves the file to local application storage directory. Right now I am able to do this and save the file with no problems when I just access the HTML page not inside an Iframe. However if I wrap the page in an iframe and hit submit the file does not save. Any code examples would be very much appreciated. • Did the OS X java update to 1.5u7 whack my 1.6.0 laf.jar?

  This is the update that just came out this week (2010-05-18) Somebody moved my cheese. It appears that laf.jar is Look And Feel, so probably not a big deal for my java development. Eclipse got mad about the missing jar, and furthermore thinks the 1.6.0 VM disappeared, which it didn't. Had to redefine the VM library within eclipse and everything appears kosher, but was hoping somebody with more hit points than me could say so definitively. Am I all good? Was it really the OSX update for 1.5 that went and hunted down a file in my 1.6 VM? Haven't been able to google anything about this... if somebody could post a link to some info about this, that'd be appreciated too.

• Conditional directive to identify C++ Builder personalities

  Hello, I have a Delphi component which I want to install and have it available at the component palette in Delphi but not in C++ Builder. In BDS/RAD 2006 and above I can either have it installed for both personalities or none. I need to do so because this component uses 3rd party libraries that doesn't support C++ Builder. I have looked at jedi.inc mentioned here but I'm not able to find the combination to be able to register the component in Delphi personalities only. The component should also work for D5, D6 and D7 but not for BCB5 and BCB6. Is this possible? BTW: Component is written in Delphi. C++ Builder shares same packages as Delphi. Thanks in advance.

• Eclipse content assist with maven project not picking up all classes

  I'm using Eclipse 3.5.0, and have imported a maven project using the import maven project from SCM wizard (M2 plugin). I have a jar file as a dependency in my pom. and inside the jar is a complicated schema - with quite a number of XSD's. But the content assist doesn't seem to pick up the schema at all, nor a number of other classes in the dependency list. yet for another module in the same project it seems to work ok. Does anyone know why this is? it's driving me mad!

  im using mvc framework and i have learned some techniques that help me with different parts of RAD. models: doctrine/visual paradigm controllers/libraries: various design patterns now i only need to know what technique/solution i should use for the views so that i can create views more rapidly. cause i don't think it's efficient to code css/html manually, even though i understand it. its the same principle when using visual paradigm to create both my mysql database tables and doctrine model classes. i believe in using right tools will boost up development speed. so what could i use for the views to save time and energy and don't reinvent the wheel all the time? dreamweaver? any css generation tools? 960/blueprint for layout? suggestions? thanks

  Well i want from the drop down menu(Menu Item List) one item to be working as an link, to open an url/website in safari - thats it. When this is so simple, why no one come up with a clue here - I tried many different ways in Xcode, with Apple Xcode Samples... i think i need an AppDelegate.m, drag or link some parts, get actions... i failed to get it going somewhere - now i'm lost. • Visual Studio 2010 Zooming – Keyboard Commands, Global Zoom

  One of my favorite features in Visual Studio 2010 is zoom. It first caught my attention as a useful tool for screencasts and presentations, but after getting used to it I’m finding that it’s really useful when I’m developing – letting me zoom out to see the big picture, then zoom in to concentrate on a few lines of code. Zooming without the scroll wheel The common way you’ll see this feature demonstrated is with the mouse wheel – you hold down the control key and scroll up or down to change font size. However, I’m often using this on my laptop, which doesn’t have a mouse wheel. It turns out that there are other ways to control zooming in Visual Studio 2010. Keyboard commands You can use Control+Shift+Comma to zoom out and Control+Shift+Period to zoom in. I find it’s easier to remember these by the greater-than / less-than signs, so it’s really Control+> to zoom in and Control+< to zoom out. Like most Visual Studio commands, you can change those the keyboard buttons. In the tools menu, select Options / Keyboard, then either scroll down the list to the three View.Zoom commands or filter by typing View.Zoom into the “Show commands containing” textbox. The Scroll Dropdown If you forget the keyboard commands and you don’t have a scroll wheel, there’s a zoom menu in the text editor. I’m mostly pointing it out because I’ve been using Visual Studio 2010 for months and never noticed it until this week. It’s down in the lower left corner. Keeping Zoom In Sync Across All Tabs Zoom setting is per-tab, which is a problem if you’re cranking up your font sizes for a presentation. Fortunately there’s a great new Visual Studio Extension called Presentation Zoom. It’s a nice, simple extension that just does one thing – updates all your editor windows to keep the zoom setting in sync. It’s written by Chris Granger, a Visual Studio Program Manager, in case you’re worried about installing random extensions. See it in action Of course, if you’ve got Visual Studio 2010 installed, you’ve hopefully already been zooming like mad as you read this.
