  • Question about RewriteRule and HTTP_HOST server variable

    In evaluating a rewrite rule that redirects to a specific URL and say the rewrite condition is met, would it be possible to use HTTP_HOST as part of the URL to be redirected to? Example in question: RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpe?g|gif|png|bmp)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/no-leech.jpg [R,NC] The motive behind this question is a desire to create a single htaccess file that would match against an addon domain (on a shared hosting account) and an infinite amount of subdomains below it to prevent hotlinking of images.

  • Thanks All the readers and community and Happy new year to all of you.

    This is my first blog post for new year 2011 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the readers for making my blog very successful and accepting me a community member. As year 2010 has lots of up down in IT filed it was recession period and now we almost recovered from it. Personally year 2010 has been very successful to me as I have been awarded as Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for visual C#. And It was one of the greatest achievement of my life. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Microsoft for this and thanks all friends specially Jacob Sebastian who has given me guidance any time I required it. I have been also awarded dzone most valuable blogger this year and it was a nice surprise from dzone. I would like thanks dzone for this. Once again I am wishing you happy new year and may this year will bring success to all of you. One more thing I have found that I have met lots of people who is quite intelligent and exceptional developers and IT professionals but they are not blogging their stuff.   • debugging scaffolding contingent upon degbugging boolean (java)

    Recently i've found myself writing a lot of methods with what i can only think to call debugging scaffolding. Here's an example: public static void printArray (String[] array, boolean bug) { for (int i = 0; i<array.lenght; i++) { if (bug) System.out.print (i) ; //this line is what i'm calling the debugging scaffolding i guess. System.out.println(array[i]) ; } } in this method if i set bug to true, wherever its being called from maybe by some kind of user imput, then i get the special debugging text to let me know what index the string being printed as at just in case i needed to know for the sake of my debugging (pretend a state of affairs exists where its helpful). All of my questions more or less boil down to the question: is this a good idea? but with a tad bit more objectivity: Is this an effective way to test my methods and debug them? i mean effective in terms of efficiency and not messing up my code. Is it acceptable to leave the if (bug) stuff ; code in place after i've got my method up and working? (if a definition of "acceptability" is needed to make this question objective then use "is not a matter of programing controversy such as ommiting brackets in an if(boolean) with only one line after it, though if you've got something better go ahead and use your definition i won't mind) Is there a more effective way to accomplish the gole of making debugging easier than what i'm doing? Anything you know i mean to ask but that i have forgotten too (as much information as makes sense is appreciated).

    What is the purpose of making 3 priority level by WCAG? is it like? If client not paying extra or if we don't have much time then go for A If client paying then or if we have time to make site compatible go for at least AA If client paying and needed according to govt. rules then go for AAA If we are making site then which level we should we try to achieve, or we should do only on client request?     My one of web designer friend still making sites with table but he use css very nicely and I also use css nicely but with <div> and i face cross browser problem in layout more than my friend. and i given some reason to my friend about cons of <table>. read my whole discussion with friend? I - you site will be problematic with screen reader My friend - OK, but i never got any call from any client regarding this. I - you will devote more time to make any changes in layout, if changes comes from client My friend - I don't think so, but if it is then show me how can i save time with <div>? I - your sites will not work well with search engine. My friend - it's not true. I've made many site and no problem with any site or client regarding this I - layout is old way, non w3c and non standard way. My friend - what is old and what is new, Who is W3C i don't know, What is standard? Whatever i make works in all browsers, it's enough for me and my client will not pay for standard and W3C guidelines rules I - Your site will not work in mobile browsers My friend - No problem for me, my client don't care about mobile phone I - Your sites are not accessible? My Friend - What do u mean not accessible? Whatever i make works in all browsers. my any client never asked about accessibility I - You will not get more work in future, with table? My friend - OK, no problem when clients will not accept site with table then i will learn about div based layouts in future. My questions? Is it still true, to make cross browser layouts for desktop browsers using table+css is easier then div+css? What is the benefit for developer to use DIV+CSS layout in place of <table> layouts if client would not mind if i use ?
