    I have a table, where I need to do a case insensitive search on a text field. If I run this query in LinqPad directly on my database, it works as expected Table.Where(tbl => tbl.Title.Contains("StringWithAnyCase")) // also, adding in the same constraints I'm using in my repository works in LinqPad // Table.Where(tbl => tbl.Title.Contains("StringWithAnyCase") && tbl.IsActive == true) In my application, I've got a repository which exposes IQueryable objects which does some initial filtering and it looks like this var dc = new MyDataContext(); public IQueryable<Table> GetAllTables() { var ret = dc.Tables.Where(t => t.IsActive == true); return ret; } In the controller (its an MVC app) I use code like this in an attempt to mimic the LinqPad query: var rpo = new RepositoryOfTable(); var tables = rpo.GetAllTables(); // for some reason, this does a CASE SENSITIVE search which is NOT what I want. tables = tables.Where(tbl => tbl.Title.Contains("StringWithAnyCase"); return View(tables); The column is defiend as an nvarchar(50) in SQL Server 2008. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!

  • How can a button click method find out which item is selected in a ListView?

    I have a single screen with a bank of buttons below a ListView. Entries on the ListView light up in orange when I scroll so I assume that are selected. When I then press the "Delete" button I want the onClickListener to remove the currently selected entry. But getSelectedItemPosition() always gives me -1. If I can't hope to use the GUI controls in this way, please give me another way of getting the same result. I have even tried setting the onClickListener of the List View to store the index before the button is pressed (in case pressing the button unselects the entry) but even that is always -1 it seems.     I've used a few F/OSS libraries in my commercial application. As per their licenses, I am obligated to include their source codes along with my VS2008 application. This is my first time making a "real" commercial application, and I would appreciate some advice on how best to go about including their source codes. I don't want to package them as zip files alongside my installed. I still want my installer to be a single file.

  • Need method to seek next/previous records id without cycling through all records.

    I am using MySQL and PHP. I have a MySQL blog post result set with id fields, and publish_date fields. I display one blog post per page, and the script knows which blog post to display based on $_GET['id'], which correlates to each blog entry's id field. I would like to reference them by id in the url, because I would like each blog post to have a perminant url. I would like to order the blog posts by publish date (descending). Now, on each page there will be next and previous links, which contain the $_GET['id'] value for the next and previous blog posts. How can I figure out what the id of the next and previous blog posts (determined by it's publish_date order) without cycling through each mysql result row? I can't mysql_data_seek(), because I do not know the row index of the current blog post id. I do not want to store a row index in a GET variable because the urls would no longer be perminant. I obviously cannot store the row index in a SESSION variable because then direct links to specific blog posts would have broken next and previous links. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi!, I have setup svnserve server (1.6.5,plain, without apache) on Fedora. I start the svnserve with the command 'svnserve -d --foreground --listen-port=3690 -r /usr/local/svn-repos/proj-test' When user trying to checkout working copy from the local machine with command 'svn checkout svn://127.0.0.1/proj-test' gets following error svn: URL 'svn://127.0.0.1/proj-test' doesn't exists but, 'svn checkout svn://localhost/proj-test' works. I am curious to know why using 127.0.0.1 with svn:// fails? Thanks. Banani

    I was writing two implementations of a linked list for an assignment, a doubly linked list and a circular doubly linked list. Now as the class representing a Link within the linked list is the same in both implementations, I want to use it in both. Now I wonder which approach would be better: Implement the Link class as a package private static member class in the first implementation and then use this class in the second implementation or make the Link class a package private class.

    I am trying to use the @Deprecated annotation. The @Deprecated documentation says that: "Compilers warn when a deprecated program element is used or overridden in non-deprecated code".   • Does the jQuery .unbind() method only work on jQuery created events?

    I am trying to unbind all event handlers for all elements that are inside a particular container. Like a DIV. But those events have been bound/registered not using jQuery. Some are bound the manual way with onclick="...." or using regular native JavaScript. But when i do something like this $('#TheDivContainer').find('div,td,tr,tbody,table').unbind(); It does not appear to work. Which leads me to believe that the .unbind() only works if the events have been originally bound by jQuery. Is that true? Is there another way of unbinding all events from a group of elements ? Thanks!

The answer is at the end of this question. I found that the i in the alert call either refers to any local (if any), or the global variable. There is no way that it can be the instance variable or the class variable even when there is no local and no global defined. To refer to the instance variable i, we need this.i, and to the class variable i, we need Circle.i. Is this actually true for almost all Object oriented programming languages? Any exception? Are there cases that when there is no local and no global, it will look up the instance variable and then the class variable scope? (or in this case, are those called scope?) the answer is: 10 is being alerted.
