The private key chmod is 600, and if I open it with nano looks, fine. I'm running Apache2 on a debian 7 machine.

• How do I use a URL path instead of a file path in an Open File dialog in Mac OSX or ChromiumOS?

  In Windows 7 (and perhaps earlier), the default "Open File" dialog box allows you to type a full URL into the "File name" section as if it were a file path, e.g. "http://www.example.com/pic.gif" instead of "C:/windows/pictures/pic.gif". When uploading a file to a website on the client side - say, an image - this allows the client to upload a picture located on a server accessible via the URL instead of downloading the image, saving it locally, then referencing the local image in the "Open File" dialog. It's a great option for Windows users. I have three separate questions: What is this procedure formally called? How do I describe this succinctly so that my searches for more information are fruitful? Can something similar be done in Mac OSX, Chromium OS, or a Linux environment? If so, how? Thanks!

• How to block this URL pattern in Varnish VCL?

  My website is getting badly hit by spambots and scrappers, I am using Cloudflare but the problem still remains there. The problem is spambots accessing non-existing urls causing a lot of load to my drupal backend which goes all the way and bootstraps db just to serve a 404 error doc. I cant simply dish out non-drupal 404's for all page not found errors, as I need to have drupal catch them. Since, varnish is in front it can check if the bot is acting nice and asking for valid url - if not it servers them a 404 or 403. • Can htpasswd be used to restrict access to a URL rather than a specific folder?

  I would like to restrict access to certain URLs with htpasswd files, rather than folders, is this possible? For example, I wish to restrict the URL: www.example.com/pages/id/227/Restricted_Page But allow access to other URLs such as: www.example.com/pages/id/100/Normal_Page Is this possible? The "pages" part of the url refers to a pages.php file, and the "id" part is the function name in that file. The reason for wanting to do this is because of migrating existing restrict lists, in the form of htpasswd files from another site. Many thanks.

• Parsing concatenated, non-delimited XML messages from TCP-stream using C#

  I am trying to parse XML messages which are send to my C# application over TCP. Unfortunately, the protocol can not be changed and the XML messages are not delimited and no length prefix is used. Moreover the character encoding is not fixed but each message starts with an XML declaration <?xml>. The question is, how can i read one XML message at a time, using C#. Up to now, I tried to read the data from the TCP stream into a byte array and use it through a MemoryStream. The problem is, the buffer might contain more than one XML messages or the first message may be incomplete. In these cases, I get an exception when trying to parse it with XmlReader.Read or XmlDocument.Load, but unfortunately the XmlException does not really allow me to distinguish the problem (except parsing the localized error string). I tried using XmlReader.Read and count the number of Element and EndElement nodes. That way I know when I am finished reading the first, entire XML message. However, there are several problems. If the buffer does not yet contain the entire message, how can I distinguish the XmlException from an actually invalid, non-well-formed message? In other words, if an exception is thrown before reading the first root EndElement, how can I decide whether to abort the connection with error, or to collect more bytes from the TCP stream? If no exception occurs, the XmlReader is positioned at the start of the root EndElement. Casting the XmlReader to IXmlLineInfo gives me the current LineNumber and LinePosition, however it is not straight forward to get the byte position where the EndElement really ends. In order to do that, I would have to convert the byte array into a string (with the encoding specified in the XML declaration), seek to LineNumber,LinePosition and convert that back to the byte offset. I try to do that with StreamReader.ReadLine, but the stream reader gives no public access to the current byte position. All this seams very inelegant and non robust. I wonder if you have ideas for a better solution. Thank you. EDIT: I looked around and think that the situation is as follows (I might be wrong, corrections are welcome): I found no method so that the XmlReader can continue parsing a second XML message (at least not, if the second message has an XmlDeclaration). XmlTextReader.ResetState could do something similar, but for that I would have to assume the same encoding for all messages. Therefor I could not connect the XmlReader directly to the TcpStream. After closing the XmlReader, the buffer is not positioned at the readers last position. So it is not possible to close the reader and use a new one to continue with the next message. I guess the reason for this is, that the reader could not successfully seek on every possible input stream. When XmlReader throws an exception it can not be determined whether it happened because of an premature EOF or because of a non-wellformed XML. XmlReader.EOF is not set in case of an exception. As workaround I derived my own MemoryBuffer, which returns the very last byte as a single byte. This way I know that the XmlReader was really interested in the last byte and the following exception is likely due to a truncated message (this is kinda sloppy, in that it might not detect every non-wellformed message. However, after appending more bytes to the buffer, sooner or later the error will be detected. I could cast my XmlReader to the IXmlLineInfo interface, which gives access to the LineNumber and the LinePosition of the current node. So after reading the first message I remember these positions and use it to truncate the buffer. Here comes the really sloppy part, because I have to use the character encoding to get the byte position. I am sure you could find test cases for the code below where it breaks (e.g. internal elements with mixed encoding). But up to now it worked for all my tests.   Hello all, I'm trying to parse some returned html to look for currently playing movies. The pattern I'm trying to match looks like: <span dir=ltr>Clash of the Titans</span> Of which there are several in the returned html. (the html is huge, I've posted a sample at the bottom) I'm trying get an array of the movie titles with the following command: titles = listings_html.split(/(<span dir=ltr>).*(<\/span>)/) But I'm not getting the results I'm expecting. Can anyone see a problem with my approach or regex? • How to do RLE (run length encoding) in C# on a byte array?

  I am trying to XOR two bitmap files (their byte arrays) to produce a byte array that can be used to change image A into image B or vice versa. I am sending this over the network so I would like to do some basic compression before this happens. Is there a way to do RLE (run length encoding) in C# (using a built-in, or fast reliable 3rd party library) on a byte array for this purpose? Notes: If you are going to suggest an alternative to my approach please keep in mind that the decompression and transformation on the remote machine has to be as quick and efficient as possible.

I'm performing the following function, which is a wrapper for the $.ajax function: function do_json_get(uri){ var ret = ''; var url = AJAX_URL + uri; $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: url, async: false, success: function(data) { ret = data.html; }, dataType: 'json' }); return ret; } When I go to the AJAX server directly (which is rendering the form in PHP), I get the raw JSON response - so I know the server is outputting to the browser, and the AJAX server is doing other things like setting the proper cookies, so I know that the connection is good (I get a 200 response code). Yet the data object is coming back null. What else could I be missing?

  OK, I'm probably just having a bad Monday, but I have the following need and I'm seeing lots of partial solutions but I'm sure I'm not the first person to need this, so I'm wondering if I'm missing the obvious. $client has 50 to 500 bytes worth of binary data that must be inserted into the middle of a URL and roundtrip to their customer's browser. Since it's part of the URL, we're up against the 1K "theoretical" limit of a GET URL. Also, $client doesn't want their customer decoding the data, or tampering with it without detection. $client would also prefer not to store anything server-side, so this must be completely standalone. Must be Perl code, and fast, in both encoding and decoding. I think the last step can be base64. But what are the steps for encryption and hashing that make the most sense?

I am wondering how merchants/vendors/developers secure their applications for android market. I have used google checkout before to implement a custom integration, so I understand how that all works. What I do not see anywhere that I have looked is what, if any, integration does the merchant/developer have with the Android Market checkout process? I understand that the market uses google checkout, but in that case the market hosts the checkout process and not the merchant, so it's not clear whether they give your URL a call. So where is the hook? Am I right in assuming it is the merchant API callback URL?

  Hi there, I'm trying to request data from another Rails app, but I keep getting a "URL not found" error. Is it possible to use the debugger to figure out the intended URL and parameters for an intended ActiveResource call? For example, I'd like to make a GET request with the following parameters: https://some_server.com/employees/search.xml?last_name=smith And I have the following ActiveResource model class Employee < ActiveResource::Base self.site = "https://.some_server.com" end And the some_server.com app has a search action that maps this way: map.connect "/employees/search.:format", :controller => 'employees', :action => 'search' But when I try this: Employee.new(:last_name => 'smith).get(:search) I get a 404 "Service not found" error. To me, that sounds like the URL that ACtiveResource is requesting is incorrect, 'cause when I make the above request via a browser, I get the xml. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Cheerio, Berns

  Greetings, Just getting into PHP web development. I've got an HTML form where a user checks some series of dynamically-generated checkboxes, and submits via POST. On the PHP side, I want to check which of the check-boxes were clicked. I have an array $full_list, and am doing something like $selected_checkboxes = array_filter($full_list, function($item) { array_key_exists($item, $_POST); } I run into problems when a list item is named, for example "Peanut Butter", since in the POST array it is named "Peanut_Butter". I could certainly just str_replace " " with "_" before checking array_key_exists, but I imagine that there is a more fundamental encoding problem here; specifically, I'm not sure of exactly what layer transforms normal strings in HTML Forms (value="Peanut Butter") into "Peanut_Butter". So: what layer is responsible for this conversion? Is it the browser? what are the exact conversion rules, and is there a PHP function out there that will replicate that exact conversion? Thanks!

  I would like to produce a url for Google Maps that goes to a specific latitude and longitude. Now, I generate a url such as this: http://maps.google.com/maps?z=11&t=k&q=58 41.881N 152 31.324W The resulting map comes up with a round "A" balloon pointer, which seems to point to the nearest named object, and a green arrow, which points to the lat-lon. Sometimes, as in this example, the "A" pointer is centered and is far enough away that you cannot see the pointer to the lat-lon. (Zoom out to see both pointers in this example. The "A" pointer is in the center of Alaska, while the lat-long pointer is on Kodiak Island.) Are there some parameters I can use in the Google Maps URL that will produce a single pointer to a designated lat-lon? (This loads in a separate window. It is not embedded.)

• Is it possible to maintain the url while redirecting to a classic asp page from a controller?

  While migrating a site from a classic asp to MVC, I'm having the problem that not all controllers are implemented yet. For those which are not implemented, I'd like to serve the classic asp page (say /product.asp?id=123) while maintaining the nice url /product/123. To accomplish this I implemented a dummy ProductController which returns a RedirectResult to the classic asp url. But that changes the url in the browsers navigation bar. Requirement has it, that the urls should always be a clean (mvc) one, eventhough the page has not yet been fully migrated. If this can't be done using a dummy controller, what would be an alternative option to solve this problem? Thanks in advance!

  I did some stuff to have to_param return a perma-url so I'd have seo friendly links. Upon creation and update it will generate and return the perma-url in a to_param method that I put in the model. However this causing me some grief in other areas. I have a form that looks like this: <% @apps.each do |app| %> <% fields_for "[id][]", app do |fields| %> .... this fails terribly since it tries to insert the perma-url in place of the id. If I could just restrict to_param by action, that could solve things. If I change app to app.id, that fails since I have stuff like this: fields.check_box :is_featured . I suppose I could get the app instance, but that feels hacky. Again please excuse my lack of rails-foo ;)
