<b>IT World:</b> "Today, Novell's SUSE Studio is a Web-based virtual appliance/ISO image creator using SUSE Linux. It has no parallels that we can find for building operating systems instances."
I was stumped for a little while until running across this article. For those without a background in Oracle development, this was a nice introduction for beginners.

In his latest article, Marcin Policht demonstrates a variety of tools that can be employed to execute SQL Server Integration Services packages, focusing in particular on the method leveraging functionality available within the Business Intelligence Development Studio.
You'll quickly find out that enabling code coverage in VisualStudio 2010 has changed. With the new version you enable this functionality through the test settings. The following steps will enable code coverage:
Open the local.testsettings which you can access from Test -> Edit Test Settings -> Local (local.testsettings)
Select Data and Diagnostics from the list
Select the Enabled checkbox on the Code Coverage row
Double-click the Code Coverage row
Select the assemblies you want to instrument
Specify a re-signing key file if your assemblies are strong-named
Click OK
Click Apply
Click Close
In this webcast, we explore what's new and possible with Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) RIA Services and your Microsoft Silverlight application. We show how you can create an entity model and then expose it to your client application and how to build a compelling interface using the data-binding features built into Microsoft VisualStudio 2010....Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? Its a long explanation. I have a HP Pavilion dm4 notebook. It has pre installed Windows 7 Home Pre. Recently, I tried to install Windows 8 developerpreview on my notebook, but while installing, it only allowed me to insatll it on my primary Windows 7 drive I.e. drive C. I had kept 1 empty partition for Windows 8 but when I selectced that option, the next button at the bottom of the window just grey with some error saying
Windows cannot boot from this drive....blah blah blah
So I googled and found another way of doing it by VHD(virtual hard disk). This seemed to work but on restarting gave me "VHD_BOOT_INITIALIZATION_FAILED" error. After trying all possible ways for around 10 times, I gave up.
I noticed that d only thing difference in d tutorials and my notebook is the Disk type. They all had Basic and I have Dynamic. Is that the reason m not able to boot Windows 8? Any suggestions?
I was fighting with this issue today... VisualStudio was taking FOREVER to load the symbol files (.pdb) in order to start debugging. It seems if you clear all of your break points, the issue is corrected. Hope this helps someone.
If you’re in Calgary, come join us on April 28th, 2010. I'm trying to create a Virtualbox image of windows 8 consumer preview. I tried this tutorial: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-install-windows-8-on-virtualbox/
I did exactly what was said in that tutorial. At the step "Now navigate to the Windows 8 developer build ISO file that you downloaded and select it." I get the error "Could not get the storage format. (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED)". I also get this if I use the regular wizard.
Host OS: windows 7
Virtualbox version: 4.1.16
Both windows 8 64 bit and 32 bit tested.
So I took a plunge and installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my main home PC. So far so good, but there is one annoyance - the system "locks" the computer after a period of inactivity causing me to re-enter my password.
I really would like to avoid this, but have no idea how. I already tried the power settings (no pass on wake up) and the screen saver settings with no luck. Is this some sort of bug, or am I missing something?
P.S. In this case I favor convenience over security.

After reimaging a computer lab workstation, the first time a user tries to build and run an Xcode 4 application, Xcode pops up the "Enable 'Developer Mode' on this Mac?" prompt, requesting an administrator password.
How can I automate this process (via a script), so that I don't have to go around to every workstation, create a new Xcode project, build and run it, and enter the admin password each time the workstations are reimaged?
In preparation for the official release of VisualStudio 2010, the software giant is brewing up deals for loyal users that let them buy the new package at a discount as well as to get a new subscription for MSDN.
Gaston Milano has just informed me that he has a new version of CoolCommands for VisualStudio 2010. In addition to all the existing commands, the new release, now called CoolX, supports Context Explorer shell commands, support for multiple monitors and new features to help tame the Project Reference beast. Check out all the info including a download, available here –>http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/53fe63d5-780d-409b-afc3-10d05906e0a6 I’m also hosting a version for download here. Thanks Gaston!
The Smart Client Software Factory (SCSF) for VisualStudio 2010 was uploaded tonight. You can get it, the source code, and the documentation on the patterns & practices page.
Note: Do not forget to "unblock" the documentation (CHM) file after you download it. To unblock it right click the file, choose Properties, and click the Unblock button.
Visual WebGui's extended ListView control is in many cases the best option to implement the most complex data entry and views.
The following webcast explains the different between the extended controls and the standard "flat list" ListView control and of course what can be done with it.
I've had this problem numerous times when trying to install software in WINE, now I've come to the point where I have to install something in WINE. Installing the program works fine, as soon as I go to run it however I get the message
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime.
Runtime Error
I have installed the above package using wine tricks, but still nothing. Have goggled to try and find if I am missing Dependencies or anything obvious, but after that I am stuck. Cheers

I have connected my Windows live account(Microsoft account), Facebook account and Google account with Windows 8.
On "People" Windows 8 app it shows as connected to Microsoft, Facebook, Google, whereas in "Messaging" app its connected only to Microsoft and Facebook.
While I can chat with Facebook online contacts and messenger's, I cant find my Google online contacts only on Messaging app.
Seems like Google supports only sharing of contacts and not chat as of now. Does anyone knows how to get Google chat on Windows 8 Messaging?
I'll be regularly running VisualStudio 2010 Professional, SQLServer Express, Office and at least 1 virtual environment running a Linux Distro. I want the machine to be snappy and responsive even when doing a reasonable amount of Development work. I want to spend what it takes for this, but I don't want to go overboard spending more than I need to. I won't be playing many games or graphics processing so i won't need a monster of a machine.
Any recommendations?
