  • Declaring a data type dynamically in C++

    - by Bobby
I want to be able to do the following: I have an array of strings that contain data types: string DataTypeValues[20] = {"char", "unsigned char", "short", "int"}; Then later, I would like to create a variable of one of the data types at runtime. I won't know at compile time what the correct data type should be. So for example, if at runtime I determined a variable x needed to be of type int: DataTypeValues[3] x = 100; Obviously this won't work, so how could I do something like this?

  • what the java command's -jar option really does

    - by JBoy
Does the -jar option of the java command also compile the sources before running the main method? I believe so but i would like to have a better understanding of the internal process, from the man page you can clearly see a small workflow sequence: -jar Execute a program encapsulated in a JAR file. The first argument is the name of a JAR file instead of a startup class name. In order for this option to work, the manifest of the JAR file must contain a line of the form Main-Class: classname. Here, classname identifies the class having the public static void main(String[] args) method that serves as your application's starting point. See the Jar tool reference page and the Jar trail of the Java Tutorial @ But it does not mention that it compiles the sources.

  • Can I extends a sub class of Proxy class?

    - by KCBérenger
I want to create a complete (and real) 2-dimensional array. In order to use a maximum of Adobe code, I want to use ListCollectionView which can manage sort and filters. But to use a second dimension, I need to override getProperty method, like following code. package { import flash.utils.flash_proxy; import mx.collections.ListCollectionView; public class SubClass extends ListCollectionView /* extends Proxy */ { override flash_proxy function getProperty(name : *) : * { ... } override flash_proxy function setProperty(name : *, value : *) : void { ... } } } This code doesn't work. Flash Builder 4 said to me: 1004 Namespace was not found or is not a compile-time constant. If anyone has a solution or a clue...

  • Preprocessor not skipping asm directives

    - by demula
I'm programming to a microprocessor (Coldfire) and I don't have access every day to the microprocessor trainer so I want to be able to execute some of my code on the computer. So I'm trying to skip a part of my code when executing on the computer by defining _TEST_. It doesn't work. It tries to compile the asm code and dies whining about not knowing the registers names (they're defined alright compiling against the Coldfire, not my Intel Core Duo). Any ideas why it's not working? or maybe an alternative way to run the code on the pc without commenting it out?. Here's sample code from my project: inline void ct_sistem_exit(int status) { #ifdef _TEST_ exit(status); #else asm volatile( "moveb #0,%%d1\n\t" "movel #0, %%d0\n\t" "trap #15\n\t" : : : "d0", "d1" ); #endif /* _TEST_ */ } If it helps: using gcc3 with cygwin on Netbeans 6.8

  • signature output operator overload

    - by coubeatczech
hi, do you know, how to write signature of a function or method for operator<< for template class in C++? I want something like: template <class A class MyClass{ public: friend ostream & operator<<(ostream & os, MyClass<A mc); } ostream & operator<<(ostream & os, MyClass<A mc){ // some code return os; } But this just won't compile. Do anyone know, how to write it correctly?

  • Visual Studio keeps inserting absurd default property value in designer file

    - by Bugz R us
i have a simple usercontrol with following properties: public partial class RichTextEditorControl : UserControl { public string EditorText { get { return richTextBox1.Rtf; } set { richTextBox1.Rtf = value; } } public string EditorPlainText { get { return richTextBox1.Text; } set { richTextBox1.Text = value; } } } Now whenever I EDIT a form which contains this control, VS fills its designer file with the following code line, and then throws a designer error : this.richTextEditorControl1.EditorPlainText = global::Project.Resources.MyResources_de_DE.SomeString; Now I don't know where it gets this value from ??? I've searched entire solution, and nowhere there's mention of this var, except for 1 file, where it's needed ... Moreover, the code VS writes, has an error in it ?! It doesn't compile ... The only thing I can do is edit the designer file, but the next time I have to edit the form with the designer, the same error happens again ... Where on earth is VS getting this value from ??

  • what are the differences in the WebKit nightly build binary and in the Safari binary?

    - by Albert
I know what the projects are about: Safari is Apples browser. WebKit is the engine used in Safari (and in many other browsers) which is open source. The WebKit source code contains also code to compile it as a standalone application. You can download the nightly build of WebKit here: http://nightly.webkit.org/ I have compared some of those nightly builds of WebKit to the official Safari application. And besides the slightly different logo and the different name, I haven't really seen any difference. Are there any? Or is it just the branding? Edit: I just tried again with the current nightly build of today and it even names itself "Safari" now.

  • C++ packing a typedef enum

    - by Sagar
typedef enum BeNeLux { BELGIUM, NETHERLANDS, LUXEMBURG } _PACKAGE_ BeNeLux; When I try to compile this with C++ Compiler, I am getting errors, but it seems to work fine with a C compiler. So here's the question. Is it possible to pack an enum in C++, or can someone see why I would get the error? The error is: "semicolon missing after declaration of BeNeLux". I know, after checking and rechecking, that there definitely is a semicolon there, and in any places required in the rest of the code.

  • Compiler error while compiling the RAPID library on VS2008

    - by Demi
I've downloaded the RAPID library and tried to compile it on Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. However, I'm getting the following compiler error: C4430 missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int at this code segment (the exact line that produces the error is int flag): class RAPID_model { public: box *b; int num_boxes_alloced; tri *tris; int num_tris; int num_tris_alloced; int build_state; int build_hierarchy(); friend RAPID_Collide(double R1[3][3], double T1[3], double s1, RAPID_model *RAPID_model1, double R2[3][3], double T2[3], double s2, RAPID_model *RAPID_model2, int flag); Can anyone please help me with this? Thank you

  • How can I pass an object as a parameter in the google app engine RPC flow?

    - by jimmartens
I'm building a pretty basic app, and one thing I want to do is pass an object as a parameter up through the service - async - impl instead of passing up a million separate parameters. so in async, I do something like this: import shared.Profile; ... public interface ProfileServiceAsync { public void addProfile(Profile inProf, AsyncCallback<Void> async); Now, profile is a class in com. ... .shared and I have the following in my ... .gwt.xml <source path='shared'/> That being said when I try to compile I get this error. [ERROR] Errors in 'file:/D:/projects/eclipse/workspace/.../src/com/.../client/ProfileServiceAsync.java' [ERROR] Line 11: No source code is available for type shared.Profile; did you forget to inherit a required module? Any ideas on this?

  • Need help on how to setup my packages and projects in eclipse

    - by jax
I am new to Java and am making a license generator. This is my current setup. com.example.licensegenerator.client (used by the client application) :LicenseLoader (no Main method) :LicenseDownloader (no Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.keys (used by the server) :ProductKeyGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.license (used on the server also) :LicenseGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.lib (Shared classes between client and server) :Contants (no main) Now I have a few questions. Is it OK to have multiple Main() methods in a single project? Will I be able to compile them to different .jar files? (In this case I need two different jars for the server) Is there a better way to setup the packages? And a totally unrelated question, with exceptions, is it better to handle them right then and there or throw them and let the main method catch them all (the program cannot recover if an error occurs)

  • problems with Haskell's Number Types

    - by mindeavor.
    I have the following haskell code: fac n = product [1..n] taylor3s w0 f f' f'' t h = w1 : taylor3s w1 f f' f'' (t+h) h where hp i = h^i / fac i w1 = w0 + (hp 1) * f t w0 + (hp 2) * f' t w0 + (hp 3) * f'' t w0 taylor_results = take 4 $ taylor3s 1 f f' f'' 1 0.25 where f t x = t^4 - 4*x/t f' t x = 4*t^3 - 4*(f t x)/t + 4*x/t^2 f'' t x = 12*t^2 - 4*(f' t x)/t + 8*(f t x)/t^2 - 8*x/t^3 taylor_results is supposed to be a use case of taylor3s. However, there is something wrong with the number type inferencing. When I try to compile, this is the error I get: practice.hs:93:26: Ambiguous type variable `a' in the constraints: `Integral a' arising from a use of `taylor3s' at practice.hs:93:26-51 `Fractional a' arising from a use of `f' at practice.hs:93:37 Possible cause: the monomorphism restriction applied to the following: taylor_results :: [a] (bound at practice.hs:93:0) Probable fix: give these definition(s) an explicit type signature or use -XNoMonomorphismRestriction Can someone help me with understanding what the problem is?

  • Not a statement?

    - by abelenky
I have a simple little code fragment that is frustrating me: HashSet<long> groupUIDs = new HashSet<long>(); groupUIDs.Add(uid)? unique++ : dupes++; At compile time, it generates the error: Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement HashSet.Add is documented to return a bool, so the ternary (?) operator should work, and this looks like a completely legitimate way to track the number of unique and duplicate items I add to a hash-set. When I reformat it as a if-then-else, it works fine. Can anyone explain the error, and if there is a way to do this as a simple ternary operator?

  • "Make" system for Actionscript?

    - by Ender
In working on larger Actionscript/Flash projects, I've started to really feel the need for some kind of "make" system, but I haven't found it yet. Does anyone know if it exists? Required features: Ability to associate SWCs with their source code and/or FLAs i.e. "this swc is compiled from this source" Ability to mark my current project as depending on these SWCs (either as compile-time or runtime libraries) A single, big shiny button, that when pressed does the following: Checks to see if any of the source files have changed, and if so, recompiles their associated SWCs Recompiles and relinks the main .swf, if necessary Runs the main .swf Have yet to find a way to get something like FlashDevelop to do this (but I don't know it well enough to be sure). Support for both code and FLA sources is preferred.

  • Prevent Erroneous Property Assignment

    - by Gordon
Porting android applications to iphone applications always gives me the following pattern that I accidentally create: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = property; } Which instead should be: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = prop; } This always causes my program to quietly break because property gets reset to its existing value rather than being set to the new value, 'prop'. I cannot name the parameter 'prop' to 'property' since the compile complains that the parameter masks the instance variables visibility. Is there a good way to avoid this situation? There are no compiler warnings. Is there a way to make xcode prevent this? I cannot see very many situations where you would set a property to the value of its underlying instance variable (maybe to trigger a KVO binding?), but I don't see myself doing that in majority of cases. I understand the above code is synthetic and should be done with @synthesize, but I am just using it as a simplified example to illustrate my point.

  • How to run a .class file in Windows 7 OS?

    - by jNoob
Hi, This is probably a stupid question, but how do I run a class file on windows 7? I usually create my own .java files and then use a basic IDE (with JDK6) to compile it to a class and run it automatically. My professor gave a .class file that we are supposed to play with extensively but I have no idea how to to run it here. Note that I cannot run it by typing: java classname.class because it contains gui stuff especially buttons and such. If I do the above I get the following error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Test1/2/class Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Test1.2.class at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source) Could not find the main class: Test1.2.class. Program will exit. Exception in thread "main" Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Key logger wont record key strokes without console

    - by Daniel Gopar
I created a small basic key logger in C++. For some reason when I compile and run the program with the console displayed, it will record every key stroke I make in whatever program I am using such as a browser and store it in a text file. However when I make it so that it WON'T display a console window, it will not record anything and it's just a process in the background doing nothing. Here is the link to my code: http://pastebin.com/4wqQyLJ9 The function that is giving me trouble with hiding the console, is the Stealth() function. Any suggestions, tips or hints will be helpful. Thanks.

  • Help, I need to debug my BrowserHelperObject (BHO) (in C++) after a internet explorer 8 crash in Rel

    - by BHOdevelopper
Hi, here is the situation, i'm developping a Browser Helper Object (BHO) in C++ with Visual Studio 2008, and i learned that the memory wasn't managed the same way in Debug mode than in Release mode. So when i run my BHO in debug mode, internet explorer 8 works just fine and i got no erros at all, the browser stays alive forever, but as soon as i compile it in release mode, i got no errors, no message, nothing, but after 5 minutes i can see through the task manager that internet explorer instances are just eating memory and then the browser just stop responding every time. Please, I really need some hint on how to get a feedback on what could be the error. I heard that, often it was happening because of memory mismanagement. I need a software that just grab a memory dump or something when iexplorer crashes to help me find the problem. Any help is appreciated, I'll be looking for responses every single days, thank you.
