• Can this statement ever evaluate to FALSE?

  I stumbled upon this while doing a review and the author is not available: int n = Convert.ToInt32(text); if (((n > 0) || (n < 0)) || (n == 0)) { return 1; } The code in general looks solid and it's hard for me to believe that the only purpose of this snippet is to confuse reviewers, but I don't see a way for this condition to fail. Am I missing something?

• Show default value for editing on Python input possible?

  Is it possible for python to accept input like this: Folder name: Download But instead of the user typing Download it is already there as a initial value. If the user wants to edit it as Downloads all he has to do is add a 's' and press enter. Using normal input command: folder=input('Folder name: ') all I can get is a blank prompt: Folder name: Is there a simple way to do this that I'm missing?

• Cannot execute newly created TestMethod in VS2010

  When I try to run a new TestMethod on an existing TestClass in Visual Studio 2010 (by right-clicking on the method name and choosing Run Tests) the test method does not execute. After a restart of VS, the problem has gone. Am I missing some refresh thing, or is right-clicking even the correct way of executing a single test method?

  I need a simple floating point rounding function, thus: double round(double); round(0.1) = 0 round(-0.1) = 0 round(-0.9) = -1 I can find ceil() and floor() in the math.h - but not round(). Is it present in the standard C++ library under another name, or is it missing??

• WPF bind IsEnabled on other controls if a listbox has a select item

  I have a grid with 2 columns, a listbox in column 0 and a number of other controls in the a secondary grid in the main grids column 1. I want this controls only to be enabled (or perhaps visible) if an items is selected in the listbox through binding. I tried on a combo box: IsEnabled="{Binding myList.SelectedIndex}" But that does not seem to work. Am I missing something? Should something like this work? thanks

• rails log rotation behaves weird (rails version 2.3.5)

  I'm trying to setup log rotation in rails. I have put this in my environment/development.rb: config.logger = Logger.new("#{RAILS_ROOT}/log/#{ENV['RAILS_ENV']}.log", 1, 5*1048576) 2 files are created :-) but it looks like rails is writing to them randomly and at the same time as well. This creates messy log files :-( what am I missing?

  I'm trying to change the src of an image form submit button using an onclick, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. • Why there are no semicolons and {} blocks in some languages

  I know the question has no practical value, but it is interesting why in some languages semicolons and {} blocks are removed although their predecessor have them. Actually it makes me nervous to write a code in Python as there are no ";" and {}. Also in new language Google-GO semicolons are also missing although it says that lexer uses a rule to insert semicolons automatically as it scans. So is there any secret :) reason for this.

  I have a .NET 2.0 targeted C# windows forms application that is running fine on XP when .NET 3.5 is installed. However, when .NET 2.0 only is installed I get the error: "WindowsFormsApplication1.exe - .NET Framework Initialization Error" - "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded" I have tried this with a basic default windows forms application and encounter this error on XP SP1, SP2 and SP3 with .NET 2.0 installed. Could there be some other step that I am missing?

• Object Class's protected method MemberWiseClone()

  This might be a dumb question, but I don't get it: I have a class called Card. I want to do a shallow clone using MemberWiseClone(). In Theory Card inherits from Object. So it should be able to use MemberWiseClone(), even if MWC() is protected ?? Am I missing/forgetting something?

  I am trying to add unit tests to my iPhone project in Xcode. Everything works, its great. Except when I am adding a class.m that uses CGRect (or other structs, CGPoint etc) to the unit test target (under "Compile Sources") - I am getting a compilation error: "'CGRect' undeclared (first use in this function)". I tried messing with my unit test target in various ways, but so far I haven't been able to get past this. What am I missing?

  A friend wrote a query with the following condition: AND ( SELECT count(1) FROM users_alerts_status uas WHERE uas.alert_id = context_alert.alert_id AND uas.user_id = 18309 AND uas.status = 'read' ) = 0 Seeing this, I suggested we change it to: AND NOT EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM users_alerts_status uas WHERE uas.alert_id = context_alert.alert_id AND uas.user_id = 18309 AND uas.status = 'read' ) But in testing, the first version of the query is consistently between 20 and 30ms faster (we tested after restarting the server). Conceptually, what am I missing?

We can send a regular request instead of a ajax request, can't we? We can use "include" to include sub part of pages. So am i missing something about javascript, that I dont know of?

• How do I register a marker interface so it is visible in Plones's ZMI?

  I would like to register a marker interface so I can add it to objects in the ZMI. My product's configure.zcml contains: <interface interface=".interfaces.IMarkerInterface" /> and, after reinstalling, the interface shows up in the list of available interfaces. But if I try to add it to an object in the ZMI I get a ComponentLookupError. What's missing?

• Doxygen autolink not working to global types (enums, structs, etc)

  I am trying to use Doxygen Automatic link generation to document some enum but it is not generating links for the global types. It only generates links for the types defined in the class. Is there something I am missing. I am using the example provided on the link above. As required, I have documented the file in which the types are defined.
