    - by Eamorr
Greetings, Does anyone know how I can get coarse GPS coordinates when I don't have a fix and get fine GPS coordinates when I have a fix? I've tried googling for some sample code to no avail. I did find this: http://www.android10.org/index.php/articleslocationmaps/226-android-location-providers-gps-network-passive But I don't know how to implement the fallback to coarse/upgrade to fine. • Where about should my main class be created in a project?

    - by Dan
The problem is where a class should be created in my code. An example is I have a UI class and a main logic class that controls other objects. Should the main logic class create the UI object, or should the UI object create the instance of the main logic class? An explanation of which method is best and why would be ideal. Thanks.

  • How to get started with testing(jMock)

    - by London
Hello, I'm trying to learn how to write tests. I'm also learning Java, I was told I should learn/use/practice jMock, I've found some articles online that help to certain extend like : http://www.theserverside.com/news/1365050/Using-JMock-in-Test-Driven-Development http://jeantessier.com/SoftwareEngineering/Mocking.html#jMock And most articles I found was about test driven development, write tests first then write code to make the test pass. I'm not looking for that at the moment, I'm trying to write tests for already existing code with jMock. The official documentation is vague to say the least and just too hard for me. Does anybody have better way to learn this. Good books/links/tutorials would help me a lot. thank you EDIT - more concrete question : http://jeantessier.com/SoftwareEngineering/Mocking.html#jMock - from this article Tried this to mock this simple class : import java.util.Map; public class Cache { private Map<Integer, String> underlyingStorage; public Cache(Map<Integer, String> underlyingStorage) { this.underlyingStorage = underlyingStorage; } public String get(int key) { return underlyingStorage.get(key); } public void add(int key, String value) { underlyingStorage.put(key, value); } public void remove(int key) { underlyingStorage.remove(key); } public int size() { return underlyingStorage.size(); } public void clear() { underlyingStorage.clear(); } } Here is how I tried to create a test/mock : public class CacheTest extends TestCase { private Mockery context; private Map mockMap; private Cache cache; @Override @Before public void setUp() { context = new Mockery() { { setImposteriser(ClassImposteriser.INSTANCE); } }; mockMap = context.mock(Map.class); cache = new Cache(mockMap); } public void testCache() { context.checking(new Expectations() {{ atLeast(1).of(mockMap).size(); will(returnValue(int.class)); }}); } } It passes the test and basically does nothing, what I wanted is to create a map and check its size, and you know work some variations try to get a grip on this. Understand better trough examples, what else could I test here or any other exercises would help me a lot. tnx

  • What quality, parser-generator options exist for ruby?

    - by cartoonfox
What open source (preferably gem-based) parser-generator options do I have in Ruby? I've used (flex&bison)|(lex&yacc) from C in the past, and I'm comfortable with BNF-style specifications. I've heard of treetop, but it looks a bit alien and verbose compared to yacc... Purpose: I want to convert my text markup language to a BNF and generate the parsing code. I think it's a better strategy than my first-order solution: http://github.com/dafydd/semantictext/blob/master/lib/semantictext/rich_text_parser.rb

    - by Gina
I am trying to assign a cell in Excel for the user to type the printer name where they want the print out to go and then use that value in the Application.ActivePrinter = (use the cell value) Even though I have done the programming assigning a name to the cell and using it in a variable it is giving me an error. I have set my variable as string, text, object and variant already and it's not working. Do you know what code should I use to be able to do this?

  • Equivalent of Backticks in Python

    - by Chris Bunch
What is the equivalent of the backticks found in Ruby and Perl in Python? That is, in Ruby I can do this: foo = `cat /tmp/baz` What does the equivalent statement look like in Python? I've tried os.system("cat /tmp/baz") but that puts the result to standard out and returns to me the error code of that operation.

  • Where do I handle asynchronous exceptions?

    - by Jurily
Consider the following code: class Foo { // boring parts omitted private TcpClient socket; public void Connect(){ socket.BeginConnect(Host, Port, new AsyncCallback(cbConnect), quux); } private void cbConnect(IAsyncResult result){ // blah } } If socket throws an exception after BeginConnect returns and before cbConnect gets called, where does it pop up? Is it even allowed to throw in the background?

  • Remove extra junk from C proprocessor?

    - by Brendan Long
I'm trying to use the C proprocessor on non-C code, and it works fine except for creating lines like this at the top: # 1 "test.java" # 1 "<built-in>" # 1 "<command-line>" # 1 "test.java" The problem is that these lines aren't valid in Java. Is there any way to get the preprocessor to not write this stuff? I'd prefer not to have to run this through something else to just remove the first 4 lines every time.

  • Easiest way to retrieve cross-browser XmlHttpRequest

    - by HeavyWave
What is the easiest and safest way to retrieve XmlHttpRequest object that works across all browsers? Without any extra libraries. Is there a code snippet you use often? P.S. I know there are tons of examples on the net, but this is precisely the reason I am asking: there are too many different examples, and I just want something simple and proven to work.
