  • Build a custom drawn control for .net compact framework

    I just started on the .net compact framework. I want to draw a Sudoku field on the screen. So I put down a PictureBox and defined a method for the Paint event: private void pictureBoxPlayfield_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { // use e.Graphics to draw the grid, numbers and cursor } This works, but you can see as the grid is drawn. So my question is, what is the right/better way to create such a custom control? Is there maybe a way to enable double buffering?

    Looking for a custom tooltip (typical yellow baloon callout) on click of an anchor tag. The tooltip should appear and remain in view until the cross button on the tooltip is clicked. Just looking for a tried and tested open source solution. Tried googling this but most of the tooltip [...missing info?...] Ajax control toolkit has the calloutvalidator which seems like a good choice but is tied up to be used for validation tooltips.

  • Ubuntu Linux -- create custom burnable/bootable DVD image?

    I recently developed some kiosk software that runs on Ubuntu Linux, and my client needs me to set up ten more computers with the complete software package(and that number will only grow in the future). So I'm looking for a way to make this less of a pain in the neck and prevent me from shooting myself in the foot -- I had to disable some things on the installations of the operating systems like screensavers, automatic updates, etc. that would pop up and disrupt the kiosk operation. I don't feel comfortable doing that by hand across 10 computers, it seems stupid. Does anybody have recommendations for software that would let me burn an installable DVD with a complete image of the hard drive from one of the devices? I've looked at Clonezilla, G4L, and PartImage and I'm still not quite sure if any of them offer what I need. I know PartImage for sure won't work, because it doesn't support Ext4.

  • cPanel IPTables custom rules

    Hi, I'm trying to allow a host access to port 3306 by IP. I've added the rule and ran an iptables-save and also service iptables save. These commands show as "OK" with no reported errors. And this works absolutely fine. Now, the server hasn't been restarted at all since I've been having this problem, but every day when I start developing on the server that needs mySQL access, it reports that the connection is refused. Back on the mySQL server, all I need to do is service iptables restart and everything then works as normal. The mySQL server is a CentOS cPanel VPS running on OpenVZ. Anyone know how I can make these rules persist? Is it something cPanel is doing overnight that is messing with my config? Thanks.

URL:" I want to know how to get the actual status code and message in fault event.

    I guess this may be a novice question ( Which I am :) ). While redirecting user to custom error page, for e.g. 404, to tell that page wasn't found, the type of this redirect is 302. <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Utility/Error404.aspx" /> <error statusCode="400" redirect="/Utility/Error404.aspx" /> Is it possible to make this redirect 301 through Web.config?     I regularly use an ellipsis as a bullet point in a list of items in Word/Outlook 2010. Example: I like summer because... ... it's warm out. ... we go on vacation. ... my birthday is in July. Currently in Word/Outlook if you type certain characters like a hyphen and hit space, it will automatically start a bulleted list using the hyphen. I would really like the same functionality with the ellipsis. When I type the third period and hit space, start a bulleted list. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Registry hack? Hidden Word Setting?

  • Custom host file for Firefox

    Instead of changing my host file I'd like Firefox to think my domain is on my own server while my other browser uses the real IP address. I used to edit my host files but that forces both browsers to change the IP address. I found change host, but it doesn't appear to use the alternative host file. I also saw a comment asking when it will work on Firefox 6+. I tried Host Admin and it fails. It works but the alternative IP address must be in your host file already (which I don't want) and it lets you deselect a domain so the host file is ignored which is not what I want.
