    Here is data structure w/ variables: struct Part_record { char id_no[3]; int qoh; string desc; double price: }; --- (Using "cin" to input data) --- Part_record null_part = {" ", 0," ",0.0}; --- --- file.seekg( -(long)sizeof(Part_record), ios::cur); file.write( ( char *)&part, sizeof(Part_record) ); The three variables, qoh, Id_no & price, write out correctly, but the "desc" variable is not right. Do I need to initialize Part_record some other way? It should be 20 characters in length. If you have enough info here, pls share your advice,thanks.

    Time was when you set file associations in: HEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<.ext However, that seems to be possible, but an incomplete solution anymore. There are additional associations throughout the registry. For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\KindMap HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Extensions And all of the above, but by HKEY_USERS\ And Microsoft added their Set Default Associations control panel applet, which controls... what? I'm looking for a white paper, or discussions on: "How is a modern, Windows XP-Windows 7 compatible application written in C/C++ supposed to register and manipulate its file associations without interfering with Explorer, User-Settings, or the Default Associations cpl"

  • how to find out how much application memory django process is (or will be) taking?

    There are different "Application memory" options (like 80MB...200MB) in django-friendly hosting called webfaction and I'm confused deciding which one I should buy. Could someone please walk me through the ideas on how to figure out how much memory my project might require (excluding operating system, the main apache server and the database servers memory requirements)? I understand in theory I'll need to perform some kind of load testing, but thought there might be ways to calculate that in advance with some simple/relatively easy understandable approach. I don't know how hard they enforce application memory usage limit, and another question is: what will happen if more users came to the site and more threads started than what I expected? Will the application crash? Or will delays just become uncomfortable? And - no, application is not ready yet (I can't measure anything right now). Development environment if it matters is Winodows 7, 64-bit. Hosting itself is some kind of Linux I think. (Sorry if it's not a stackoverflow question.)

    We are currently installing the latest version of Django and Python on IIS6. We have followed the instructions on the following site: http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/DjangoOnWindowsWithIISAndSQLServer We are receiving a 403 error when trying to access our Django application via the IIS server. We have verified the python installation on IIS6 and it is working property. We have also verified the Django installation. Our application runs fine under the built-in Django server, but we are having difficulties getting it to run under IIS. We presume we could be getting errors from "Linking Django to PyISAPIe" section of the instructions provided on the link above. Thank.

  • python open does not create file if it doesnt exist

    I am using Python. What is the best way to open a file in rw if it exists, or if it does not, then create it and open it in rw? From what i read, file = open('myfile.dat', 'rw') should do this, no? it is not working for me (python 2.6.2) and im wondering if it is a version problem, or not supposed to work like that or what. The bottom line is, i just need a solution for the problem. I am curious about the other stuff, but all i need is a nice way to do the opening part. thanks in advance

  • Calling class in Java after editing file used in as source for table

    I'm currently working on a project, I'll try to subrscibe first. I save data into text file, that I use as a source for browser of that data. The browser is based on table that contains the data. I have to rewrite the source file everytime I delete or edit data. That's where the problem comes in. After deleting or editing data I call a method to create the table again, but the table never creates. Is it possibly made by editing the file and calling the method right after that? If I restart my app the table is successfully created with right data. Take in note that I don't get any error message.     So I'm writing a Django based website that allows users select a color scheme through an administration interface. I already have middleware/context processors that links the current request (based on domain) to the account. My question is how to dynamically serve the CSS with the account's custom color scheme. I see two options: Add a CSS block to the base template that overrides the styles w/variables passed in through a context processors. Use a custom URL (e.g. "/static/dynamic/css//styles.css") that gets routed to a view that grabs all the necessary values and creates the css file. I'm content with either option, but was wondering if anyone else out there has dealt with similar problems and could give some insight as to "Best Practices".

  • How to give 'Everybody' full rights to a file (programmatically)

    I'm modifying an old C++ program to run on Vista. It does not require Admin privileges. I've changed the code to put logfiles in \ProgramData\MyApp\. These logfiles are written with the stdio functions (fopen, fprintf, fclose). Here's the problem: UserA runs the program first, it creates \ProgramData\MyApp\MyLogFile.txt UserB runs the program next, it tries to append to MyLogFile.txt and gets access denied. I tried creating a null SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR and passing that to CreateFile(). That does create a file with "no permissions assigned", but it seems as if the first user to write to the file takes ownership and afterwards all the other non-admin users are out of luck. It's important that all users share the same logfiles, but it's also important that I change as little code as possible.

  • Programatically determining file "size on disk" in advance

    I need to know how big a given in-memory buffer will be as an on-disk (usb stick) file before I write it. I know that unless the size falls on the block size boundary, its likely to get rounded up, e.g. a 1 byte file takes up 4096 bytes on-disk. I'm currently doing this using GetDiskFreeSpace() to work out the disk block size, then using this to calculate the on-disk size like this: GetDiskFreeSpace(szDrive, &dwSectorsPerCluster, &dwBytesPerSector, NULL, NULL); dwBlockSize = dwSectorsPerCuster * dwBytesPerSector; if (dwInMemorySize % dwBlockSize != 0) { dwSizeOnDisk = ((dwInMemorySize / dwBlockSize) * dwBlockSize) + dwBlockSize; } else { dwSizeOnDisk = dwInMemorySize; } Which seems to work fine, BUT GetDiskFreeSpace() only works on disks up to 2GB according to MSDN. GetDiskFreeSpaceEx() doesn't return the same information, so my question is, how else can I calculate this information for drives 2GB? Is there an API call I've missed? Can I assume some hard values depending on the overall disk size?

In one project, I can use File.WriteAllBytes(path, Resource1.Image); to dump the resource to disk. In another, Resource1 is does not exist. What would be the best way to do this? Would I read one line from the file and then split each characters separately and transfer it to the new array?     I have a model with a generic relation: TrackedItem --- genericrelation ---> any model I would like to be able to generically get, from the initial model, the tracked item. I should be able to do it on any model without modifying it. To do that I need to get the content type and the object id. Getting the object id is easy since I have the model instance, but getting the content type is not: ContentType.object.filter requires the model (which is just content_object.__class__.__name__) and the app_label. I have no idea of how to get in a reliable way the app in which a model is. For now I do app = content_object.__module__.split(".")[0], but it doesn't work with django contrib apps.

    There are obvious counterparts for some of file systems' basic operations (eg. ls and rm), but how would you implement not straightforwardly RESTful actions such as cp or mv? As answers to the question REST services - exposing non-data “actions” suggest, the preferred way of implementing cp would include GETting the resource, DELETing it and PUTting it back again with a new name. But what if I would need to do it efficiently? For instance, if the resource's size would be huge? How would I eliminate the superfluous transmission of resource's payload to client and back to the originating server? Here is an illustration. I have a resource: /videos/my_videos/2-gigabyte-video.avi and I want copy it into a new resource: /videos/johns_videos/copied-2-gigabyte-video.avi How would I implement the copy, move or other file system actions the RESTful way? Or is there even a proper way? Am I doing it all wrong?

    I'm using Django with Google's App Engine. I want to send information to the server with percent encoded slashes. A request like http:/localhost/turtle/waxy%2Fsmooth that would match against a URL like r'^/turtle/(?P<type>([A-Za-z]|%2F)+)$'. The request gets to the server intact, but sometime before it is compared against the regex the %2F is converted into a forward slash. What can I do to stop the %2Fs from being converted into forward slashes? Thanks!
