  • Setting my PictureBox to transparent background color doesn't really make it transparent. Bug?

    Here's what I have in VERY simple easy to grasp terms. My form background is Blue. I created a gradient image from white to the Blue from the form background. This is to give the form a nice gradient look. I added a picturebox to my Form and set this image as the Image. I added a picturebox with a Logo on top of the gradient Picturebox, but it's 'grabbing' the Form background color and not respecting the transparent background image I wanted it to grab. So: Blue Form - Huge pictureBox with gradient - Small picturebox thats supposed to respect the gradient. Help please!

  • Is possible to change default diff tool in Mercurial?

    Hi, Everytime that I do an 'hg diff file.ext' I end up using a console diff application. Is there a way to change that? I can't find a reference in Mercurial documentation (I'm not talking about merge!). I would like to use Kdiff3 or WinMerge (I'm using Windows). Thanks for your time. Best regards.

  • Silverlight Project - Setting Reference to Copy Local false not working.

    Why is it that when my Silverlight project is built, the output directory contains a bunch of culture specific directories: ar\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll bg\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll ca\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll etc etc etc Also the root of the build output contains: System.Xml.Linq.dll System.windows.Controls.dll I have gone through the projects in my solution and made sure that "Copy Local" is set to false for all the referances of the mentioned dll files. Those 2 files were set to true, but I did switch them to false. Despite my effort to google an answer, I remain stuck.

  • Setting custom behaviour via .config file - why doesn't this work?

    I am attempting to insert a custom behavior into my service client, following the example here. I appear to be following all of the steps, but I am getting a ConfigurationErrorsException. Is there anyone more experienced than me who can spot what I'm doing wrong?     I am working on a Windows Forms application in C#/.Net. I want to use a resource file that contains translations of my strings. My my project in visual studio I have the following hierarchy: Project CS files ... Resources\ resource.en-US.resx I am trying to read in the resource file as follows: m_ResourceReader = new ResXResourceReader("resources/resource.en-US.resx"); When I run this project, Visual Studio seems to look for the resources folder in the bin/Debug output folder of my project. My questions are: What is the right way to reference a resource file? I would like my installer to place this resource file under my application's folder under Program Files\MyApp\resources\resource.en-US.resx. What would be the way to make ResXResourceReader read it from that location. Thanks for your help. -Raj

  • How do I change apache2 DocumentRoot (default snow leopard install) and not get "You don't have perm

    I'm trying to point DocumentRoot at a directory in my user folder. While I can happily point DocumentRoot at /Library/WebServer/Documents and ~/Sites I keep getting "You don't have permission to access / on this server." when I point it anywhere else. OK, I just found a solution mid-question (stack overflow is just that good) by changing the user/group apache runs under to myuser/admin. I'm sure there must be a better way though. Surely some kind of permissions magic on the directory I'm pointing at?

  • Storage model for various user setting and attributes in database?

    I'm currently trying to upgrade a user management system for one web application. This web application is used to provide remote access to various networking equipment for educational purposes. All equipment is assigned to various pods, which users can book for periods of time. The current system is very simple - just 2 user types: administrators and students. All their security and other attributes are mostly hardcoded. I want to change this to something like the following model: user <-- (1..n)profile <--- (1..n) attributes. I.e. user can be assigned several profiles and each profile can have multiple attributes. At runtime all profiles and attributes are merged into single active profile. Some examples of attributes i'm planning to implement: EXPIRATION_DATE - single value, value type: date, specifies when user account will expire; ACCESS_POD - single value, value type: ref to object of Pod class, specifies which pod the user is allowed to book, user profile can have multiple such attributes with different values; TIME_QUOTA - single value, value type: integer, specifies maximum length of time for which student can reserve equipment. CREDIT_CHARGING - multi valued, specifies how much credits will be assigned to user over period of time. (Reservation of devices will cost credits, which will regenerate over time); Security permissions and user preferences can end up as profile or user attributes too: i.e CAN_CREATE_USERS, CAN_POST_NEWS, CAN_EDIT_DEVICES, FONT_SIZE, etc.. This way i could have, for example: students of course A will have profiles STUDENT (with basic attributes) and PROFILE A (wich grants acces to pod A). Students of course B will have profiles: STUDENT, PROFILE B(wich grants to pod B and have increased time quotas). I'm using Spring and Hibernate frameworks for this application and MySQL for database. For this web application i would like to stay within boundaries of these tools. The problem is, that i can't figure out how to best represent all these attributes in database. I also want to create some kind of unified way of retrieveing these attributes and their values. Here is the model i've come up with.   • Setting the a caret in an JEditor Pane causes an exception.

    I have a JeditorPane which has some text in HTML format. When I execute the following command int len = editorPane.getText().length(); The value for len is 7473. But then I try to do the following: editorPane.setCaretPosition(4995); And I get the following exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: bad position: 4995 My understanding is that I should only get this exception if the position at which I'm trying to set the caret is less than 0 or greater than the text length.   • Is it possible to override the default logging for Glassfish v3?

    Related to this question. It appears that Glassfish is exporting slf4j into my application and overriding my logging solution. Is it possible for me to override Glassfish's logging and have my own logging solution take precedence? After searching, I have only found ways to modify the log using logging.properties. I am not married to my current implementation, but I am interested in making it work. thanks.

    Can anyone explain why it is assumed that a non nullable type property should always have a RequiredAttribue? I am trying to write a label helper that will auto append * or change the css class so that I can indicate to the user that the field is required. However when querying the metadata the non nullable properties end up with a required attribute.     Greetings all. I'm faced with an issue with basic SMTP.. I would like to set the return-path header to an address other than the Sender address (i.e. From: Header) using SMTP command. I know MAIL -F sets it. However, I issued the following sequence of commands into my mail daemon (TELNET rlogin) and got the SMTP error 503 - Bad Command Sequence TELNET HELO: MAIL FROM : MAIL -F: RCPT TO: Subject: Test Bounce test mail for bounce functinlaity quit Can anyone of you please suggest me a possible way out of this?     In our web.config I am using the following tag to determine the interface language of an ASP.NET website. <globalization enableClientBasedCulture="true" culture="auto:en-GB" uiCulture="auto:en"/> This works as expected: Client wo request a specific localisation get it, everybody else is happily looking at the en-GB settings. Due to company policy I need to change the date format to the ISO 8601 standard format (YYYY-MM-DD) for everybody. Is this possible at a central place in the web.config or do I need to change this manually in every instance? Addition: Would it be possible to do get this date format when restricting the interface to english? Thanks! =)

Any Idea why?

    I observe that placing the following in an external script file has the desired effect in my copies of Firefox and Google Chrome: var s = document.createElement('script'); s.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript'); s.setAttribute('src', 'http://www.example.com/external_script.js'); s.onload = function () { doSomethingNowThatExternalScriptHasLoaded } document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(s); It adds a an external script tag to them DOM, and attaches a function to the tag for when the script has loaded. I'm having trouble testing in Internet Explorer right now, but I'm not sure if it's related to that addition in particular, or something else. Does this method work in the more modern versions of other browsers, including IE7/8? If not, how else could I go about this?

    I have a MDI windows forms application and my child forms mostly have "OK" and "Cancel" buttons. However I do not want them to be activated with ENTER/ESC keys to prevent accidental saves/aborts. So, the form has both AcceptButton and CancelButton set to none. The ESC button indeed does nothing, but the ENTER button still closes the form by "clicking" on the first button found, sorted by TabOrder. Why is this so? Must I really start doing workarounds and catching the ENTER key?

    The Background I've built a source list (similar to iTunes et al.) in my Cocoa app. I've got an NSOutlineView, with Value column bound to arrangedObjects.name key path of an NSTreeController. The NSTreeController accesses JGSourceListNode entities in a Core Data store. I have three subclasses of JGSourceListNode - JGProjectNode, JGGroupNode and JGFolderNode. I have selectedIndexPaths on NSTreeController bound to an NSArray called selectedIndexPaths in my App Delegate. The Question I'm sure it's possible using some crazy KVO to observe when the NSTreeController or NSOutlineView gets populated then expand the items and change the selection, but that feels clumsy and too much like a work around. How would I do this elegantly?

    Someone suggested moving a table full of settings, where each column is a setting name(or type) and the rows are the customers & their respective settings for each setting. Then update the rows(so that each customer now has a value for that setting). The new table design proposal. The proposal is to have a column for setting name and another column for setting. ID | SettingName | SettingValue ---------------------------- 12 | IsAdmin        | 1 12 | ImagePath   | \path\to\images 34 | IsAdmin        | 0 34 | ImagePath   | \path\to\images The point they made was that adding a new setting was as easy as a simple insert statement to the row, no added column. But something doesn't feel right about the second design, it looks bad, but I can't come up with any arguments against it. Am I wrong?

  • General Questions on setting up Subversion (w/Netbeans) and web development workflow.

    Hey guys, I am web developer who currently works mostly on his own but, some projects require outside coding help (my brother.) Anyway, after running in to the problem of "working on the same files" and "saving over each others edits" I decided to research ways to avoid this. Through the help of stackoverflow I decided on subversion. My setup is the following: A windows 2008 server with a clean install. My desktop which is on the local network of the server. Then my brothers desktop which is at his house, not on lan. We both prefer to use netbeans for development. My Questions: How do we set this thing up correctly and most optimally. Here is my current setup and work flow. dev site: in the past I just created sub domains with my web host for test sites (company1.bythepixel.com, company2.bythepixel.com), and editted those sites with netbeans set up having remote sources (ftp). how do i set up my netbeans now? should I set it up with remote sources? I guess I may need to set up a web server on my local server. I'm just not sure of the work flow. When i hit save in netbeans.. will it update the repository.. then do i need to update the site from the repository somehow? live site: when going live, i would just copy all the files from the dev site into the live site. from what i gather i should be able to update the site from the dev repository? Currently I am toying with virtualsvn server (http://www.visualsvn.com/server/) on my local server. It looks like it is set up to use the http protocol. Is there advantages to this or should I consider something that does the file//. Do you recommend any other subversion software that would run on my 2008 box? how will my brother connect? should i set up a permanent vpn from his house to mine? suggestions? (not that important) how do I deal with databases, there anyway to do subversion on database? I know I have a lot of questions and I am trying to read / make sense of the free online subversion book, but its all so overwhelming! Wish there was a small subversion for dummies guide :)
