  • Storing SQL Tables for use in visual studio

    Greetings. I'm trying to create a windows form application that manipulates data from several tables stored on a SQL server. 1) What's the best way to store the data locally, while the application is running? I had a previous program that only modified one table, and that was set up to use a datagridview. However, as I don't necessarily want to view all the tables, I am looking for another way to store the data retrieved by the SELECT * FROM ... query. 2) Is it better to load the tables, make changes within the C# application, and then update the modified tables at the end, or simply perform all operations on the database, remotely (retrieving the tables each time they are needed)?     I found this code that replaces a string in a text file. But, I am trying to make it so that it replaces several strings in a text file. My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText("C:\windows\PrinterList2.txt", My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("C:\windows\PrinterList.txt").Replace("IT", "ADM-IT"), False) For example, I need it to replace "IT" with "ADM-IT" and "AR" with "ADM-AR" and possibly a hundred or so more. How can I get it to loop to do them all? Running this line of code over and over just overwrites the file with the last item for replacement. Thanks in advance.

  • Transition domain to new web host without waiting for DNS propagation

    I was considering switching to Amazon EC2 to host my website to handle more traffic. It seems like I would have to update DNS records to point to the new server but I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to wait for the new DNS record to propagate. Putting the code on both hosts would not work for me since the app writes to a database pretty frequently. I thought about just using a meta redirect or php redirect on the old host to redirect to the new host ip but was wondering if there's a better more accepted way of doing this.

Google Chrome could not connect to WHat is that I am doing wrong?

    Hi, I'm looking for any Mac compatibile development tools that are tried and tested. I'm quite sick of my MySQL query browser crashing... And i'm sure there is probably better software out there anyways... At the moment my focus is dedicated to application development using PHP/MySQL/Ajax. (although, I will be learning ActionScript/Flex shortly). I've found out that a line of packed javascript was added to many js files across the server. What the script does is pretty simple, but what I would like to know is if this malware is well known and how it infect servers and propagate.   • Web Farm Framework - Adding servers are offline

    My problem is that im trying to setup a server farm but the nodes all come up as offline. I dont get a connection error saying that the servername is wrong, but get "offline" after it "test connection" I have: - Setup firewalls rules to allow Remote and file share on Domain and private network - Installed WWF 2.0 on both servers - Account that im using is a domain account that is Administrator on both machines. www01 is the same server as the controller below, but same results if i try www02 as primary. Any ideas?

  • Web page change monitoring for Mac OS X

    There is a site that I need to monitor for changes and pop an alarm if the change is over a certain threshold. Ideally it would use Growl to pop the notification but I'm open to alternatives. If there is an application out there that does this for purchase, I'll just buy it. If not, pointers to any Linux / Java / other recompilables that I could just add Growl support to would be very helpful!

  • MX setup for a domain registrar and web host with the same domain name

    I have a client that has registered their domain through a registrar, then signed up for hosting on through a different provider, but used the same domain for said provider (didn't re-register the domain, I think the declaration of domain on the host was for CNAME records specifically). The registrar properly routes his emails at his domain name (email hosted by Google), but the problem is, on the hosted site, when an administration action occurs, he is supposed to get an email stating so. The site is sending him an email with PHP and he never receives an email when its to his address with the same domain name; all other domain addresses work just fine. I have to imagine its something misconfigured on the host. From what I can assume, I think that the host sees that the to and from domains are the same, and it decides not to route the email externally. Currently, the registrar uses the proper nameservers for the host, and there are MX records on both the registrar and the host (they are identical entries). I hope I've been clear in my question.     I'm fairly sure this is the right place for this question, but if not please move it to the the right site. I have a number of sites on a 1and1 package (yeah, I know...) and I also have a subdomian that belongs to a college tutor. I have been playing around with PHP and MySQL databases on the subdomian site and would like to know if it is possible to run a database driven (i.e. blog) on one of my 1and1 sites. I could upgrade my package but if I'm only going to gain database functionality I'm not sure if I want to do it. Also, as 1and1 don't use cPanel I'm wondering how the databases would be managed...but I'll worry about that when (if) the time comes. Cheers!

  • Create an AWS AMI for Ubuntu with GUI which automatically launches web browser

    I've got an ubuntu AMI setup with ubuntu desktop installed and Chrome installed and set to boot on load (via the startup programmes menu within the ubuntu desktop) I've created an image of this AMI, but any time I launch a new instance running this, the Ubuntu GUI doesn't seem to load, until I SSH into the machine, enable VNC and then connect via Chicken VNC to the machine. At that point, the desktop appears to load + starts the browser. I really need the machine to boot and the browser to load without having to VNC into the machine.. Any help would be appreciated.
