  • Merge n files using a C program

    - by Amal
    I am writing a download Accelerator. So I download a file from the webserver into n parts. Now I want to merge the files into 1 single file. So I use the following code. And the file names are in the correct order. But the output file I am getting is different from the original download file. Can you tell me where could the error be ?C int cbd_merge_files(const char** filenames, int n, const char* final_filename) { FILE* fp = fopen(final_filename, "wb"); if (fp == NULL) return 1; char buffer[4097]; for (int i = 0; i < n; ++i) { const char* fname = filenames[i]; FILE* fp_read = fopen(fname, "rb"); if (fp_read == NULL) return 1; int n; while ((n = fread(buffer, sizeof(char), 4096, fp_read))) { int k = fwrite(buffer, sizeof(char), n, fp); if (!k) return 1; } fclose(fp_read); } fclose(fp); return 0; }

  • Best suited tool to document message processing done in C written program

    - by user3494614
    I am relatively new to UML and it's seems to be very vast I have a small program which basically receives messages on socket and then depending upon message ID embedded as first byte of message it processes the buffer. There are around 5 different message ID which it processes and communicates on another socket and has around 8 major functions. So program in short is like this. I am not pasting entire .c file or main function but just giving some bits and pieces of it so that to get idea of program flow. int main(int argc, char** argv) { register_shared_mem(); listen(); while(get_next_message(buffer)) { switch((msg)(buffer)->id) { case TYPE1: process1(); answer(); ..... } } } I want to document this is pictorial way like for Message type 1 it calls this function which calls another and which calls another. Please let me know any open source tool which will allow me to quickly draw such kind of UML or sequence diagram and will also allow me to write brief description of what each function does? Thanks In Advance

  • C# performance methods of receiving data from a socket?

    - by Daniel
    Lets assume we have a simple internet socket, and its going to send 10 megabytes (because i want to ignore memory issues) of random data through. Is there any performance difference or a best practice method that one should use for receiving data? The final output data should be represented by a byte[]. Yes i know writing an arbitrary amount of data to memory is bad, and if I was downloading a large file i wouldn't be doing it like this. But for argument sake lets ignore that and assume its a smallish amount of data. I also realise that the bottleneck here is probably not the memory management but rather the socket receiving. I just want to know what would be the most efficient method of receiving data. A few dodgy ways can think of is: Have a List and a buffer, after the buffer is full, add it to the list and at the end list.ToArray() to get the byte[] Write the buffer to a memory stream, after its complete construct a byte[] of the stream.Length and read it all into it in order to get the byte[] output. Is there a more efficient/better way of doing this?

  • How do I delete folders in bash after successful copy (Mac OSX)?

    - by cohortq
    Hello! I recently created my first bash script, and I am having problems perfecting it's operation. I am trying to copy certain folders from one local drive, to a network drive. I am having the problem of deleting folders once they are copied over, well and also really verifying that they were copied over). Is there a better way to try to delete folders after rsync is done copying? I was trying to exclude the live tv buffer folder, but really, I can blow it away without consequence if need be. Any help would be great! thanks! #!/bin/bash network="CBS" useracct="tvcapture" thedate=$(date "+%m%d%Y") folderToBeMoved="/users/$useracct/Documents" newfoldername="/Volumes/Media/TV/$network/$thedate" ECHO "Network is $network" ECHO "date is $thedate" ECHO "source is $folderToBeMoved" ECHO "dest is $newfoldername" mkdir $newfoldername rsync -av $folderToBeMoved/"EyeTV Archive"/*.eyetv $newfoldername --exclude="Live TV Buffer.eyetv" # this fails when there is more than one *.eyetv folder if [ -d $newfoldername/*.eyetv ]; then #this deletes the contents of the directories find $folderToBeMoved/"EyeTV Archive"/*.eyetv \( ! -path $folderToBeMoved/"EyeTV Archive"/"Live TV Buffer.eyetv" \) -delete #remove empty directory find $folderToBeMoved/"EyeTV Archive"/*.eyetv -type d -exec rmdir {} \; fi

  • Eliminate full table scan due to BETWEEN (and GROUP BY)

    - by Dave Jarvis
    Description According to the explain command, there is a range that is causing a query to perform a full table scan (160k rows). How do I keep the range condition and reduce the scanning? I expect the culprit to be: Y.YEAR BETWEEN 1900 AND 2009 AND Code Here is the code that has the range condition (the STATION_DISTRICT is likely superfluous). SELECT COUNT(1) as MEASUREMENTS, AVG(D.AMOUNT) as AMOUNT, Y.YEAR as YEAR, MAKEDATE(Y.YEAR,1) as AMOUNT_DATE FROM CITY C, STATION S, STATION_DISTRICT SD, YEAR_REF Y FORCE INDEX(YEAR_IDX), MONTH_REF M, DAILY D WHERE -- For a specific city ... -- C.ID = 10663 AND -- Find all the stations within a specific unit radius ... -- 6371.009 * SQRT( POW(RADIANS(C.LATITUDE_DECIMAL - S.LATITUDE_DECIMAL), 2) + (COS(RADIANS(C.LATITUDE_DECIMAL + S.LATITUDE_DECIMAL) / 2) * POW(RADIANS(C.LONGITUDE_DECIMAL - S.LONGITUDE_DECIMAL), 2)) ) <= 50 AND -- Get the station district identification for the matching station. -- S.STATION_DISTRICT_ID = SD.ID AND -- Gather all known years for that station ... -- Y.STATION_DISTRICT_ID = SD.ID AND -- The data before 1900 is shaky; insufficient after 2009. -- Y.YEAR BETWEEN 1900 AND 2009 AND -- Filtered by all known months ... -- M.YEAR_REF_ID = Y.ID AND -- Whittled down by category ... -- M.CATEGORY_ID = '003' AND -- Into the valid daily climate data. -- M.ID = D.MONTH_REF_ID AND D.DAILY_FLAG_ID <> 'M' GROUP BY Y.YEAR Update The SQL is performing a full table scan, which results in MySQL performing a "copy to tmp table", as shown here: +----+-------------+-------+--------+-----------------------------------+--------------+---------+-------------------------------+--------+-------------+ | id | select_type | table | type | possible_keys | key | key_len | ref | rows | Extra | +----+-------------+-------+--------+-----------------------------------+--------------+---------+-------------------------------+--------+-------------+ | 1 | SIMPLE | C | const | PRIMARY | PRIMARY | 4 | const | 1 | | | 1 | SIMPLE | Y | range | YEAR_IDX | YEAR_IDX | 4 | NULL | 160422 | Using where | | 1 | SIMPLE | SD | eq_ref | PRIMARY | PRIMARY | 4 | climate.Y.STATION_DISTRICT_ID | 1 | Using index | | 1 | SIMPLE | S | eq_ref | PRIMARY | PRIMARY | 4 | climate.SD.ID | 1 | Using where | | 1 | SIMPLE | M | ref | PRIMARY,YEAR_REF_IDX,CATEGORY_IDX | YEAR_REF_IDX | 8 | climate.Y.ID | 54 | Using where | | 1 | SIMPLE | D | ref | INDEX | INDEX | 8 | climate.M.ID | 11 | Using where | +----+-------------+-------+--------+-----------------------------------+--------------+---------+-------------------------------+--------+-------------+ Related http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/how-to-avoid-table-scan.html http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/where-optimizations.html http://stackoverflow.com/questions/557425/optimize-sql-that-uses-between-clause Thank you!

  • Currently using View, Should I use a hard table instead?

    - by 1001010101
    I am currently debating whether my table, mapping_uGroups_uProducts, which is a view formed by the following table: CREATE ALGORITHM=UNDEFINED DEFINER=`root`@`localhost` SQL SECURITY DEFINER VIEW `db`.`mapping_uGroups_uProducts` AS select distinct `X`.`upID` AS `upID`,`Z`.`ugID` AS `ugID` from ((`db`.`mapping_uProducts_Products` `X` join `db`.`productsInfo` `Y` on((`X`.`pID` = `Y`.`pID`))) join `db`.`mapping_uGroups_Groups` `Z` on((`Y`.`gID` = `Z`.`gID`))); My current query is: SELECT upID FROM uProductsInfo \ JOIN fs_uProducts USING (upID) column \ JOIN mapping_uGroups_uProducts USING (upID) -- could be faster if we use hard table and index \ JOIN mapping_fs_key USING (fsKeyID) \ WHERE fsName="OVERALL" \ AND ugID=1 \ ORDER BY score DESC \ LIMIT 0,30; which is pretty slow. (for 30 results, it requires about 10 secondes). I think the reason for my query being so slow is definitely due to the fact that that particular query relies on a VIEW which has no index to speed things up. +----+-------------+----------------+--------+----------------+---------+---------+---------------------------------------+-------+---------------------------------+ | id | select_type | table | type | possible_keys | key | key_len | ref | rows | Extra | +----+-------------+----------------+--------+----------------+---------+---------+---------------------------------------+-------+---------------------------------+ | 1 | PRIMARY | mapping_fs_key | const | PRIMARY,fsName | fsName | 386 | const | 1 | Using temporary; Using filesort | | 1 | PRIMARY | <derived2> | ALL | NULL | NULL | NULL | NULL | 19706 | Using where | | 1 | PRIMARY | uProductsInfo | eq_ref | PRIMARY | PRIMARY | 4 | mapping_uGroups_uProducts.upID | 1 | Using index | | 1 | PRIMARY | fs_uProducts | ref | upID | upID | 4 | db.uProductsInfo.upID | 221 | Using where | | 2 | DERIVED | X | ALL | PRIMARY | NULL | NULL | NULL | 40772 | Using temporary | | 2 | DERIVED | Y | eq_ref | PRIMARY | PRIMARY | 4 | db.X.pID | 1 | Distinct | | 2 | DERIVED | Z | ref | PRIMARY | PRIMARY | 4 | db.Y.gID | 2 | Using index; Distinct | +----+-------------+----------------+--------+----------------+---------+---------+---------------------------------------+-------+---------------------------------+ 7 rows in set (0.48 sec) The explain here looks pretty cryptic, and I don't know whether I should drop view and write a script to just insert everything in the view to a hard table. ( obviously, it will lose the flexibility of the view since the mapping changes quite frequently). Does anyone have any idea to how I can optimize my schema better?

This is an example form Android Application Development book. public class DatabaseActivity extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ TextView quest, response1, response2; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); TextView quest = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.quest); try { String destPath = "/data/data/" + getPackageName() + "/databases/MyDB"; File f = new File(destPath); if (!f.exists()) { CopyDB( getBaseContext().getAssets().open("mydb"), new FileOutputStream(destPath)); } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } DBAdapter db = new DBAdapter(this); //---get a contact--- db.open(); Cursor c = db.getContact(2); if (c.moveToFirst()) DisplayContact(c); else Toast.makeText(this, "No contact found", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); db.close(); } public void CopyDB(InputStream inputStream, OutputStream outputStream) throws IOException { //---copy 1K bytes at a time--- byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int length; while ((length = inputStream.read(buffer)) > 0) { outputStream.write(buffer, 0, length); } inputStream.close(); outputStream.close(); } public void DisplayContact(Cursor c) { quest.setText(String.valueOf(c.getString(1))); //quest.setText(String.valueOf("this is a text string")); } }

  • Write file need to optimised for heavy traffic part 2

    - by Clayton Leung
    For anyone interest to see where I come from you can refer to part 1, but it is not necessary. write file need to optimised for heavy traffic Below is a snippet of code I have written to capture some financial tick data from the broker API. The code will run without error. I need to optimize the code, because in peak hours the zf_TickEvent method will be call more than 10000 times a second. I use a memorystream to hold the data until it reaches a certain size, then I output it into a text file. The broker API is only single threaded. void zf_TickEvent(object sender, ZenFire.TickEventArgs e) { outputString = string.Format("{0},{1},{2},{3},{4}\r\n", e.TimeStamp.ToString(timeFmt), e.Product.ToString(), Enum.GetName(typeof(ZenFire.TickType), e.Type), e.Price, e.Volume); fillBuffer(outputString); } public class memoryStreamClass { public static MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); } void fillBuffer(string outputString) { byte[] outputByte = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(outputString); memoryStreamClass.ms.Write(outputByte, 0, outputByte.Length); if (memoryStreamClass.ms.Length > 8192) { emptyBuffer(memoryStreamClass.ms); memoryStreamClass.ms.SetLength(0); memoryStreamClass.ms.Position = 0; } } void emptyBuffer(MemoryStream ms) { FileStream outStream = new FileStream("c:\\test.txt", FileMode.Append); ms.WriteTo(outStream); outStream.Flush(); outStream.Close(); } Question: Any suggestion to make this even faster? I will try to vary the buffer length but in terms of code structure, is this (almost) the fastest? When memorystream is filled up and I am emptying it to the file, what would happen to the new data coming in? Do I need to implement a second buffer to hold that data while I am emptying my first buffer? Or is c# smart enough to figure it out? Thanks for any advice

  • Subversion freaking out on me!

    - by Malfist
    I have two copies of a site, one is the production copy, and the other is the development copy. I recently added everything in the production to a subversion repository hosted on our linux backup server. I created a tag of the current version and I was done. I then copied the development copy overtop of the production copy (on my local machine where I have everything checked out). There are only 10-20 files changed, however, when I use tortoise SVN to do a commit, it says every file has changed. The diff file generated shows subversion removing everything, and replacing it with the new version (which is the exact same). What is going on? How do I fix it? An example diff: Index: C:/Users/jhollon/Documents/Visual Studio 2008/Projects/saloon/trunk/components/index.html =================================================================== --- C:/Users/jhollon/Documents/Visual Studio 2008/Projects/saloon/trunk/components/index.html (revision 5) +++ C:/Users/jhollon/Documents/Visual Studio 2008/Projects/saloon/trunk/components/index.html (working copy) @@ -1,4 +1,4 @@ -<html> -<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> -</body> +<html> +<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> +</body> </html> \ No newline at end of file

  • Sending data back to Controller Spring-MVC

    - by Umesh Awasthi
    I am not sure if this is a complex problem but as a starting person this seems a bit complex to me. • Slow Response in checkbox using JQuery

    - by Dean
    Hi to all. I'm trying to optimize a website. The flow is i tried to query a certain table and all of its data entry in a page(w/ toolbars), work fine. When i tried to edit the page the problem is when i click the checkbox button i have to wait 2-5sec just by clicking it. I limit the viewing of entry to 5 only but the response on checkbox doesn't change. The tables have 100 entries in them. function checkAccess(celDiv,id) { var celValue = $(celDiv).html(); if (celValue==1) $(celDiv).html("<input type='checkbox' value='"+$(celDiv).html()+"' checked disabled>") else $(celDiv).html("<input type='checkbox' value='"+$(celDiv).html()+"' disabled>") $(celDiv).click ( function() { $('input',this).each( function(){ tr_idx = $('#detFlex1 tbody tr').index($(this).parent().parent().parent()); td_idx = $('#detFlex1 tbody tr:eq('+tr_idx+') td').index($(this).parent().parent()); td_last = 13; for(var td=td_idx+1; td<=td_last;td++) { if ($(this).attr('checked') == true) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td_idx] = 1;//index[1] = Full Access if (td_idx==3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 1; } df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[2] = 1; if (td_idx > 3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[2] = 1; } } else { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td_idx] = 0;//index[0] = With Access if (td_idx==2) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 0; } else if (td_idx==3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 0; } if (td_idx > 3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[3] = 0; } } } $('#detFlex1').flexAddData(df[0]); $('.toolbar a[title=Edit Item]').trigger('click'); }); } ); } I've thought that the problem is this above code. Could anyone help me simplify this code.?

  • Creating new image in a loop using OpenCV

    - by user565415
    I am programing some image conversion code with OpenCV and I don't know how can I create image memory buffer to load image on every iteration. I have number of iteration (maxImNumber) and I have an input image. In every loop program must create image that is resized and modified input image. Here is some basic code (concept). for (int imageIndex = 0; imageIndex < maxImNumber; imageIndex++){ cvCopy(inputImage, images[imageIndex], 0); cvReleaseImage(&inputImage); images[imageIndex+1] = cvCreateImage(cvSize((image[imageIndex]->width)/2, image[imageIndex]->height), IPL_DEPTH_8U, 1); for (i=1; i < image[imageIndex]->height; i++) { index = 0; // for(j=0; j < image[imageIndex]->width ; j=j+2){ // doing some basic matematical operation on image content and store it to new image images[imageIndex+1][i][index] = (image[imageIndex][i][j] + image[imageIndex][i][j+2])/2; index++ } } inputImage = cvCreateImage(cvSize((image[imageIndex+1]->width), image[imageIndex]->height), IPL_DEPTH_8U, 1); cvCopy(images[imageIndex+1], inputImage, 0); } Can somebody, please, explain how can I create this image buffer (images[]) and allocate memory for it. Also how can I access any image in this buffer? Thank you very much in advance!

  • Test for `point` within an attachment in `mail-mode`

    - by lawlist
    I'm looking for a better test to determine when point is within a hidden attachment in mail-mode (which is used by wl-draft-mode). The attachments are mostly hidden and look like this: --[[application/xls Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="hello-world.xls"][base64]] The test of invisible-p yields a result of nil. I am current using the following test, but it seems rather poor: (save-excursion (goto-char (point-max)) (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (re-search-backward "]]" (point-at-bol) t))) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is the full snippet: (goto-char (point-max)) (cond ((= (save-excursion (abs (skip-chars-backward "\n\t"))) 0) (insert "\n\n")) ((and (= (save-excursion (abs (skip-chars-backward "\n\t"))) 1) (not (save-excursion (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (goto-char (previous-char-property-change (point))) (re-search-backward "]]" (point-at-bol) t)))) (insert "\n"))) GOAL:  If there are no attachments and no new lines at the end of the buffer, then insert \n\n and then insert the attachment thereafter. If there is just one new line at the end of the buffer, then insert \n and then insert the attachment thereafter. If there is an attachment at the end of the buffer, then do not insert any new lines.

  • Setting "submit"

    - by user361626
    Driving me a bit nuts this one, have tried alsorts of combination's... At the top of my file I have PHP Code: if (!ISSET ($_POST['submit'])) which tests if the submit has been hit, if not displays the form.... What I'd like to be able to to is generate a link that would be processed directly by the php code that the form would normally be submitted to... (does that make sense ?) so a generated link in the code looks like .. PHP Code: echo '<a href="index.php?submit&s_type=' . $s_type . '&d_height=' . $d_height . '&j_ref=' . $j_ref . '&j_name=' . j_name . '">' . $j_ref . '</a>'; The link generated looks like .. HTML Code: index.php?s_type=partk&d_height=3312&j_ref=AS0001&j_name=j_name I have tried setting "submit" with links like HTML Code: index.php?submit=submit&s_type=partk&d_height=3312&j_ref=AS0001&j_name=j_name index.php?submit&s_type=partk&d_height=3312&j_ref=AS0001&j_name=j_name How do I create a link that sets "submit so it gets processed rather than going through the form ???

  • Managing StringBuilder Resources

    - by Jim Fell
    My C# (.NET 2.0) application has a StringBuilder variable with a capacity of 2.5MB. Obviously, I do not want to copy such a large buffer to a larger buffer space every time it fills. By that point, there is so much data in the buffer anyways, removing the older data is a viable option. Can anyone see any obvious problems with how I'm doing this (i.e. am I introducing more performance problems than I'm solving), or does it look okay? tText_c = new StringBuilder(2500000, 2500000); private void AppendToText(string text) { if (tText_c.Length * 100 / tText_c.Capacity > 95) { tText_c.Remove(0, tText_c.Length / 2); } tText_c.Append(text); } EDIT: Additional information: In this application new data is received very rapidly (on the order of milliseconds) through a serial connection. I don't want to populate the multiline textbox with this new information so frequently because that kills the performance of the application, so I'm saving it to a StringBuilder. Every so often, the application copies the contents of the StringBuilder to the textbox and wipes out the StringBuilder contents.

  • StringBufferInputStream Question in Java

    - by JJG
    I want to read an input string and return it as a UTF8 encoded string. SO I found an example on the Oracle/Sun website that used FileInputStream. I didn't want to read a file, but a string, so I changed it to StringBufferInputStream and used the code below. The method parameter jtext, is some Japanese text. Actually this method works great. The question is about the deprecated code. I had to put @SuppressWarnings because StringBufferInputStream is deprecated. I want to know is there a better way to get a string input stream? Is it ok just to leave it as is? I've spent so long trying to fix this problem that I don't want to change anything now I seem to have cracked it. @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") private String readInput(String jtext) { StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer(); try { StringBufferInputStream sbis = new StringBufferInputStream (jtext); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(sbis, "UTF8"); Reader in = new BufferedReader(isr); int ch; while ((ch = in.read()) > -1) { buffer.append((char)ch); } in.close(); return buffer.toString(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); return null; } }

  • Getting Junk characters while trying to print the file contents using Java

    - by user1523797
    I am reading a file's contents and trying to print the contents using java. But it prints junk characters along with the file content. Code: import java.io.*; public class ReadFile { public String readFile(String filePath){ StringBuilder contents = new StringBuilder(); File file = new File(filePath); try{ String lines = null; FileReader fileReader1 = new FileReader(file); BufferedReader buffer = new BufferedReader(fileReader1); while((lines = buffer.readLine())!=null){ contents.append(lines); } buffer.close(); } catch(FileNotFoundException ex){ System.out.println("File not found."); }catch(IOException ex){ System.out.println("Exception ocurred."); } return contents.toString(); } public static void main(String[] args){ ReadFile rf = new ReadFile(); String lines = rf.readFile("C:\\Data\\FaultDn.txt"); System.out.println("Original file contents: " + lines); } } The file contents are: partner.cisco.com:org-root/mac-pool-QA_MAC_Pool_5-Sep-2012_12:00 The output is: ![Alt Output](C:\Users\safarhee\Desktop\Output.jpg) Can you please point me to what I am missing in this code?

  • Mono & DeflateStream

    - by ILya
    I have a simple code byte[] buffer = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("abracadabra"); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); DeflateStream ds = new DeflateStream(ms, CompressionMode.Compress, false); ms.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); DeflateStream ds2 = new DeflateStream(ms, CompressionMode.Decompress, false); byte[] buffer2 = new byte[ms.Length]; ds2.Read(buffer2, 0, (int)ms.Length); Console.WriteLine(Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer2)); And when reading from ds2, i have the following: Stacktrace: at (wrapper managed-to-native) System.IO.Compression.DeflateStream.ReadZStream (intptr,intptr,int) <0x00004 at (wrapper managed-to-native) System.IO.Compression.DeflateStream.ReadZStream (intptr,intptr,int) <0x00004 at System.IO.Compression.DeflateStream.ReadInternal (byte[],int,int) [0x00031] in C:\cygwin\tmp\monobuild\build\BUILD\mono-2.6.3\mcs\class\System\System.IO.Compression\DeflateStream.cs:192 at System.IO.Compression.DeflateStream.Read (byte[],int,int) [0x00086] in C:\cygwin\tmp\monobuild\build\BUILD\mono-2.6.3\mcs\class\System\System.IO.Compression\DeflateStream.cs:214 at testtesttest.MainClass.Main (string[]) [0x00041] in C:\Users\ilukyanov\Desktop\Cassini\GZipDemo\Main.cs:27 at (wrapper runtime-invoke) .runtime_invoke_void_object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. This problem appears in Mono 2.6.1 & 2.6.3... Is there any known way to successfully read from DeflateStream in Mono? Or maybe there are some third-party open-source assemblies with the same functionality?

  • How lucene indexing ?

    - by user312140
    Hello I read some document about lucene ; also i read the document in this link ( http://lucene.sourceforge.net/talks/pisa ) . I don't really understand how lucene index documents and don't understand lucene work with which algorithm for indexing ? On above link , said lucene use this algorithm for indexing : * incremental algorithm: o maintain a stack of segment indices o create index for each incoming document o push new indexes onto the stack o let b=10 be the merge factor; M=8 for (size = 1; size < M; size *= b) { if (there are b indexes with size docs on top of the stack) { pop them off the stack; merge them into a single index; push the merged index onto the stack; } else { break; } } How this algorithm help us to have an optimize indexing ? Does lucene use B-tree algorithm or any other algorithm like that for indexing or have a paticular algorithm ? Thank you for reading my post .

  • C++ AMP, for loops to parallel_for_each loop

    - by user1430335
    I'm converting an algorithm to make use of the massive acceleration that C++ AMP provides. The stage I'm at is putting the for loops into the known parallel_for_each loop. Normally this should be a straightforward task to do but it appears more complex then I first thought. It's a nested loop which I increment using steps of 4 per iterations: for(int j = 0; j < height; j += 4, data += width * 4 * 4) { for(int i = 0; i < width; i += 4) { The trouble I'm having is the use of the index. I can't seem to find a way to properly fit this into the parallel_for_each loop. Using an index of rank 2 is the way to go but manipulating it via branching will do harm to the performance gain. I found a similar post: Controlling the index variables in C++ AMP. It also deals about index manipulation but the increment aspect doesn't cover my issue. With kind regards, Forcecast

  • Want to mimic iphone address book search (In terms of interface & interaction)

    - by mr-sk
    Hi, When you do a search in the address book the flow is: 1) Select the search bar 2) The right most transparent a-z index is removed 3) A transparent black window is placed over the current UITableView 4) When you begin typing, a new UITableView is loaded with no data 5) The UITableView is populated with data as you type. 6) If you select an item you are brought to it 7) If you cancel the search you return to the main UITalbeView My first real question is, how do I load a new UITableView when a user begins searching? Is it as easy as popping a new view on the stack? It would then be a seperate .m/.h file with its own implementation? The second question is how do you remove the right most index? Or just that just go away when you render the new (blank) UITableView? I've gotten search working, but mine does it in the same UITableView, which when you start contains like 2K results, is grouped (A results under A Heading, etc) and has a right most index. I'd be happy leaving the results in the table, if I could; 1) Remove the rightmost a-z index 2) Drop the table groupings 3) Tell the view I only have N search results so it will build the scroll bar correctly. Thanks for your input; sk
