  • jQuery flicker using .load

    - by Dave Macaulay
    Hey guys, I'm using jQuery to dynamically load php pages into my page using the .load() function, so far this has been successful but if you click on various links to update the div with the .load() it starts to flicker between the new clicked page and the old one, this is pretty annoying and has anyone got a fix? Current code: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a').click(function() { $('#content').load($(this).attr("href")); return false; }); });

  • jQuery methodology?

    - by leeand00
    It seems to me that jQuery doesn't seem to be written as an OOP framework, it seems too short, and not verbose enough for that. Am I right in thinking this and if it isn't written as OOP, then what methodology are they using?

  • jQuery dropdown menu

    - by sdfkjfvfdijgvndfkj
    I have a navbar, a ul with the id of menu that I want to turn into a dropdown menu. There are uls in each li, and each ul has the class sublist, which in the CSS has a display value of none, but with the jQuery below even though I hover over it, the ul won't show. I'm 12 and what is this? $(document).ready(function(){ $('#menu li').hover(function(){ $('.sublist').slideDown(200); }); });

  • jQuery nested sortables jumpy behaviour

    - by sebbie
    I want to allow user to drag and drop UI elements. I've 'container' and 'control', control may be in container, containers may include other containers (this is important requirement). I created simple prototype using jQuery. HTML: <div class="one"> <div class="control">Control 1</div> <div class="control">Control 2</div> <div class="control container"> Container drag area <div class="control">Subcontrol 1</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 2</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 3</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 4</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 5</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 6</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 7</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 8</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 9</div> </div> <div class="control">Control 3</div> Then I created sortables using jQueryUI: $('.one').sortable({ items: 'div.control', placeholder: 'placeholder', forcePlaceholderSize: true }); Now when I'm trying to drag "Subcontrol 8" and place it between "Subcontrol 2" and "Subcontrol 3" for example I'm getting jumpy effect, you can observe it here: http://jsbin.com/egipu4/2 Interesting thing is - when I remove ability to drag "container" then it becomes smooth and perfect (you can see this on jsbin example below "jumpy" example, you can't drag using "Container drag area" span). I tried different "nested" plugins and techniques, google'd for a long time and the only one that worked was on this page: (StackOverflow doesn't allow me to post more than one like, google for "Brian Swartzfager's Blog: Nested List Sort Demo" should be first, sorry!) But it does work great only in jQuery1.2 and very old jQueryUI. If I include latest jQuery (1.3/1.4) and UI (1.7/1.8) it gets jumpy as well. What am I doing wrong?

  • jQuery working in everything but IE7. (checked my commas)

    - by deadlyhifi
    The following code works in IE8, FF, Safari, Chrome etc. (not bothering with IE6 for this one), but doesn't work in IE7. I've been through the code with a fine tooth-comb. Checked the commas, messed around with ; but it's not going anywhere. I'm using the jQuery Validate and Uploadify scripts. Can anyone see the problem here? Thanks. <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $("#validateform").validate({ errorClass: 'invalid', rules: { bike_url: { required: true, url: true } } }) $("#uploadify").uploadify({ 'uploader' : '<?php echo $url . '/wp-content/plugins/biketest/includes/uploadify/uploadify.swf'; ?>', 'script' : '<?php echo $url . '/wp-content/plugins/biketest/class/class.uploadify.php'; ?>', 'folder' : '<?php echo $url . '/wp-content/plugins/biketest/uploads'; ?>', 'cancelImg' : '<?php echo $url . '/wp-content/plugins/biketest/includes/uploadify/cancel.png'; ?>', 'auto' : true, 'fileDesc' : '.jpg or .png files only please.', 'fileExt' : '*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.png;', 'sizeLimit' : '2097152', 'buttonText': 'Choose Image', 'scriptData': { 'random': '<?php $rand = rand(0, 999999); echo $rand ?>' }, 'onComplete': function(event, queueID, fileObj, response, data) { var image = '<?php echo $rand; ?>-' + ((fileObj.name).toLowerCase()).replace(' ', ''); setTimeout(function(){ $(".uploaded").attr('src', '<?php echo $url; ?>/wp-content/plugins/biketest/uploads/s-' + image); }, 500); $("[name=bike_img]").val(image); } }) }); </script>
