    Hi, I want to process raw data from a picture taken in java me with byte[] snap = videoControl.getSnapshot(encoding); My question is, whether I should try working already with snap or should I first create the image from this array Image im = Image.createImage(snap, 0, snap.length); and then work with that? Or is there some better documentation of both methods, i.e. getSnapshot and createImage than the Java API reference?

    So I've been looking at code from various parts of the Android git, but when I try to load and compile many of them (camera, media player, etc) they reference classes and parts of the SDK that just aren't available even with my SDK version updated to 2.2. (for example the bitmap config option inNativeAlloc) Is there a reason that these are not in the SDK given out to developers?

    If you've used GoToMeeting, that's the type of ID I want. I'd like it to be random so that it obfuscates the number of items being tracked and short, so that it's easy to reference manually; UUIDs are way too long. I'd like to avoid hitting persistent storage merely for performance reasons, but I can't think of any other way to avoid collisions. Is 9 digits enough to do something time-based?

    I'm trying to assemble a header object for an api request. One of the headers is 'Content-Type'. The hyphen is causing a compile error. Flex is giving me: 1050 - Cannot assign to a non-reference value. I find it spiteful that they enjoy the use of a hyphen in the error message while I hang my head and come here for answers.

    I have been given a task to create an admin page to programmatically add IPs or domains to a SMTP Relay Restrictions using C#. I spent some time researching this since yesterday and finally traced this down to a few posts on several website that use the System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntr class. Using the examples I found, I can add or deny IPs or domains under Connection control but not Relay Restrictions. What would be the commands in C# to add IPs to the Relay Restrictions? I can display the string which is returned from my custom library method as follows: =ClassLibrary1.MyClass.Parse("harry potter") Above code works fine - it should return SQL query based on passed parameters. My question is, how can I use this code in my DataSource. I'm trying to do something like this: SELECT * FROM =ClassLibrary1.MyClass.Parse(@searchedPhrase) But the above code does not work and the error is returned :"Incorrect syntax near ="

    As I understand it, C# passes parameters into methods by reference. In vb.net, you can specify this with ByVal and ByRef. The default is ByVal. Is this for compatibility with vb6, or is it just random? Also, how can I specify what to use in C#? I kind of like the idea of passing parameters by value.

    Is there any cost/drawback (apart from typing too much) to adorning a class with System.Runtime.Serialization attributes (like [DataContract]) such that it can be used locally as a direct reference to a desktop Client project or as a type for a WCF service? The goal here is to write a data-tier class that can be used in both rich client (WPF) and Web scenarios. My data classes will be in a project that is separate from Client and WCF (*.svc code-behind) code. Is this a valid attempt to reuse code?

    For the sake of argument, lets say that I've got a basicHttp WCF service. Besides implementing authentication (login/logout methods), what is stopping someone from just cracking open Visual Studio, adding a web reference to my website's service, and then playing playing around with my service? I'm not familiar with a method of stopping someone from doing this. The idea of someone downloading all of my Data/Operation contracts and then start playing around is keeping me up at night, and I like my sleep!

  • Selecting a column that is also a keyword in MySQL

    For some reason, the developers at a new company I'm working for decided to name their columns "ignore" and "exists". Now when I run MySQL queries with those words in the where clause, I get a syntax error; however, I can't seem to figure out how to reference those columns without running into an error. I tried setting them as strings, but that doesn't make any sense. Help? Also, is there a term for this kind of mismatch?
