  • How do I prevent an ASP.NET MVC deployment on IIS 6.0, using wildcard mapping, from attempting to ha

    - by Rob
As noted by the title, what is the best way to configure an IIS 6.0 deployment of an ASP.NET MVC application such that connections to hidden shares are ignored? The application in question is using wildcard mapping to allow for clean URLs since we are planning on upgrading to IIS 7.0 in the near future and we are also handling the caching and compression issues with a custom library so we would like to avoid turning wildcard mapping off unless absolutely necessary. Below is a one of the errors from the application to give you an example of what we are seeing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- System.Web.HttpException -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Time Stamp - 03 Mar 2010, 08:11:44 Path - N/A, Internal Server Operation Message - The controller for path '/C$' could not be found or it does not implement IController. • Create a Stream without having a physical file to create from.

    - by jhorton
I'm needing to create a zip file containing documents that exist on the server. I am using the .Net Package class to do so, and to create a new Package (which is the zip file) I have to have either a path to a physical file or a stream. I am trying to not create an actual file that would be the zip file, instead just create a stream that would exist in memory or something. My question is how do you instantiate a new Stream (i.e. FileStream, MemoryStream, etc) without having a physical file to instantiate from.

  • Web UI for showing like/dislike community comments side-by-side

    - by Justin Grant
We want to add a comments/reviews feature to our website's plugin gallery, so users can not only vote up or down a particular plugin, but also leave an optional short comment about what they liked or didn't like about it. I'm looking for inspiration, ideally a good implementation elsewhere on the web which isn't annoying to end users, isn't impossibly complex to develop, and which enables users to see both good and bad comments side-by-side, like this: Like: 57 votes Dislike: 8 votes --------------------------------- -------------------------------- "great plugin, saved me hours..." "hard to install" "works well on MacOS and Ubuntu" "Broken on Windows Vista with UAC enabled" "integrates well with version 3.2" More... More... Anyone know a site which does something like this?

  • Best Book on Operating Systems

    - by qp
What is the best, up-to-date and comprehensive book on operating systems? Voice your opinion. I have seen recommendations for Tanenbaum's Modern Operating Systems but the reviews saying the latest edition has many conceptual errors and numerous typos make me worry.

  • Looking for a very simple file-based CMS

    - by nfm
I'm building a site for a friend for free, and am trying to work out a good way for her to be able to easily make updates. I haven't used any CMSs before. I was browsing the web today looking at some, and they all seem way too complicated for what I'm after. Basically, all I want is a really simple CMS that pulls together HTML snippets in particular subdirectories, and wraps them in header/footer HTML and inserts them into a template page in the appropriate section. I'm imagining a site layout something like this: / /index.php /blog_template.php /news_template.php /blog/ /blog/header.php /blog/footer.php /blog/my-first-blog.html /blog/blogs-rule.html /blog/... Say index.php contains div#blog. PHP would wrap each /blog/*.html file in /blog/header.php and blog/footer.php, and insert them into the div#blog as div#blog([0-9]*). I haven't been able to find anything this basic, and am one step away from throwing something together myself, but I'm a bit short on time at the moment and figured I'd post here first. Has anyone come across something like this? I don't want any DB, extensions, user accounts, installation, config, updates... just a simple file based solution. Thanks :) Forgot to mention - needs to be FOSS and run on Linux!

  • Windows Process : Tool to see Function and change arguments

    - by Jayan
Sometime back I used a windows tool to see what a process is doing. This tool allowed me to inspect functions exported from DLL. It also allowed me to change the values passed to a function on the fly. I cannot recollect the name(not sure if that was free or commercial one). Could any one point to me solution that can do this? (Tools like ProcessExplorer, ProcessMonitor helps a bit.. this was better) Cheers, Jayan

  • Counting HTML images with Python

I need some feedback on how to count HTML images with Python 3.01 after extracting them, maybe my regular expression are used properly. Here is my code: import re, os import urllib.request def get_image(url): url = 'http://www.google.com' total = 0 try: f = urllib.request.urlopen(url) for line in f.readline(): line = re.compile('<img.*?src="(.*?)">') if total > 0: x = line.count(total) total += x print('Images total:', total) except: pass

  • Sandcastle not adding param documentation

    - by rockinthesixstring
My method looks as follows ''' <summary> ''' Adds the activity. ''' </summary> ''' <param name="userid">An that is derived from the <see cref="Domain.User.ID" /></param> ''' <param name="activity">The activity integer that is to be derived from the <see cref="ActivityLogService.LogType" />.</param> ''' <param name="ip">An IP V4 IP Address.</param>integer ''' <remarks></remarks> Public Sub AddActivity(ByVal userid As Integer, ByVal activity As Integer, ByVal ip As String) Implements IActivityLogService.AddActivity Dim _activity As ActivityLog = New ActivityLog _activity.Activity = activity _activity.UserID = userid _activity.UserIP = ip.IPAddressToNumber _activity.ActivityDate = DateTime.UtcNow ActivityLogRepository.AddActivity(_activity) End Sub But when I run Sandcastle, my documentation ends up looking like this userid Type: System..::..Int32 [Missing documentation for "M:myapp.Core.Domain.ActivityLogService.AddActivity(System.Int32,System.Int32,System.String)"] activity Type: System..::..Int32 [Missing documentation for "M:myapp.Core.Domain.ActivityLogService.AddActivity(System.Int32,System.Int32,System.String)"] ip Type: System..::..String [Missing documentation for "M:myapp.Core.Domain.ActivityLogService.AddActivity(System.Int32,System.Int32,System.String)"] What am I doing wrong?

  • Checking status after wait()

    - by Helper Method
    After creating a child process and exiting it immediately (_exit()), I want to perform a wait and check the status. Now I wonder if in the 'else' branch of the if/else construct I also need to check for WIFSIGNALED. As far as I understand, if I perform a wait, a) an error could have occured (-1), the child could have terminated normally by an (exit() or _exit()), or it could have been terminated by a signal, so the check could be omitted, right? //remainder omitted int status; pid_t t_pid = wait(&status); if (t_pid == -1) { perror("wait"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } if (WIFEXITED(status)) { printf("child terminated normally, status = %d\n", WEXITSTATUS(status) ); } else { // <-- do it have to check for WIFSIGNALED() here? printf("child was terminated by a signal, signum = %d\n", WTERMSIG(status) ); }

  • C#: Drawing only a portion of a path

    - by John
I have a series of points in a GraphicsPath; for our purpose lets assume its the outline of an uppercase B. I want to be able to be able to draw only the bottom portion that would resemble an uppercase L. I'd like to be able to select a window of points from the GraphicsPath. Is there a handy way to do this without doing point interpolation?

  • What is the Action returned by the subscribe parameter of IObservable.Create actually for?

    - by James Hay
The method definition of IObservable.Create is: public static IObservable<TSource> Create<TSource>( Func<IObserver<TSource>, Action> subscribe ) I get that the function is called once the observable is subscribed to, where by I can then call OnNext, OnError and OnComplete on the observer. But why do I need to return an Action from the subscibe parameter and when will it actually be called?

  • Dynamic Auto updating (to UI, Grid) binding list in C# Winform?

    - by Dhana
I'm not even sure if i'm doing this correctly. But basically I have a list of objects that are built out of a class/interface. From there, I am binding the list to a datagrid view that is on a Windows Form (C#) Here the list is a Sync list which will auto update the UI, in this case datagridview. Every thing works fine now, but now i would like to have the List should have an dynamic object, that is the object will have by default two static property (ID, Name), and at run time user will select remaining properties. These should be bind to the data grid. Any update on the list should be auto reflected in the grid. I am aware that, we can use dynamic objects, but i would like to know , how to approach for solution, datagridview.DataSource = myData; // myData is AutoUpdateList<IPersonInfo> Now IPersonInfo is the type of object, need to add dynamic properties for this type at runtime. public class AutoUpdateList<T> : System.ComponentModel.BindingList<T> { private System.ComponentModel.ISynchronizeInvoke _SyncObject; private System.Action<System.ComponentModel.ListChangedEventArgs> _FireEventAction; public AutoUpdateList() : this(null) { } public AutoUpdateList(System.ComponentModel.ISynchronizeInvoke syncObject) { _SyncObject = syncObject; _FireEventAction = FireEvent; } protected override void OnListChanged(System.ComponentModel.ListChangedEventArgs args) { try { if (_SyncObject == null) { FireEvent(args); } else { _SyncObject.Invoke(_FireEventAction, new object[] { args }); } } catch (Exception) { // TODO: Log Here } } private void FireEvent(System.ComponentModel.ListChangedEventArgs args) { base.OnListChanged(args); } } Could you help out on this?

  • output not updating until next clock cycle

    - by EquinoX
I have the code module below always @(posedge Clk) begin ForwardA = 0; ForwardB = 0; //EX Hazard if (EXMEMRegWrite == 1) begin if (EXMEMrd != 0) if (EXMEMrd == IDEXrs) ForwardA = 2'b10; if (EXMEMrd == IDEXrt && IDEXTest == 0) ForwardB = 2'b10; end //MEM Hazard if (MEMWBRegWrite == 1) begin if (MEMWBrd != 0) begin if (!(EXMEMRegWrite == 1 && EXMEMrd != 0 && (EXMEMrd == IDEXrs))) if (MEMWBrd == IDEXrs) ForwardA = 2'b01; if (IDEXTest == 0) begin if (!(EXMEMRegWrite == 1 && EXMEMrd != 0 && (EXMEMrd == IDEXrt))) if (MEMWBrd == IDEXrt) ForwardB = 2'b01; end end end end The problem is that the output, which is ForwardA and ForwardB is not updated not on the rising clock edge rather than on the next rising clock edge... why is this?? How do I resolve so that the output is updated on the same positive rising clock edge? Here's what I mean: ForwardA is updated with 2 on the next rising clock edge and not on the same rising clock edge

  • How can I get an IObservable<T> in Rx from a "non-standard" event?

    - by Dan Tao
Here's what I mean. Suppose I'm working with an API that exposes events, but these events do not follow the standard EventHandler or EventHandler<TEventArgs> signature. One event might look like this, for instance: Public Event Update(ByVal sender As BaseSubscription, ByVal e As BaseEvent) Now, typically, if I want to get an IObservable<TEventArgs> from an event, I can just do this: Dim updates = Observable.FromEvent(Of UpdateEventArgs)( _ target:=updateSource, _ eventName:="Update" _ ) But this doesn't work, because the Update event is not an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs> -- in fact, there is no UpdateEventArgs -- it's basically just its own thing. Obviously, I could define my own class deriving from EventArgs (i.e., UpdateEventArgs), write another class to wrap the object providing the Update event, give the wrapper class its own Update event that is an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs>, and get an IObservable<UpdateEventArgs> from that. But that's an annoying amount of work. Is there some way to create an IObservable<[something]> from a "non-standard" event like this, or am I out of luck?

  • How to create a clip region from a path that includes the 'outline'?

    - by mackenir
I am creating a rounded rectangle GraphicsPath (see red outline image below), and then using this as a clip region both when drawing graphics, and as the Region of a Form. Unfortunately, although the path looks good, it doesn't work well as a region (see solid black image below) Is there a way that I can generate a clipping region from the path that includes all the 'outline' pixels of the path? Do I need to generate a bitmap and then process this to create a region? The rounded rectangle path: When used as a clip region: The discrepancy (red pixels are in the path outline, but outside the region. blue pixels are in both):

  • Generate Color Gradient in C#

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
My question here is similar to the question here, except that I am working with C#. I have two colors, and I have a predefine steps. How to retrieve a list of Colors that are the gradients between the two? This is an approach that I tried, which didn't work: int argbMax = Color.Chocolate.ToArgb(); int argbMin = Color.Blue.ToArgb(); var colorList = new List<Color>(); for(int i=0; i<size; i++) { var colorAverage= argbMin + (int)((argbMax - argbMin) *i/size); colorList.Add(Color.FromArgb(colorAverage)); } If you try the above code, you will find that a gradual increase in argb doesn't correspond to a visual gradual increase in the color. Any idea on this?

  • How do I get the CPU speed and total physical ram in C#?

    - by edude05
I need a simple way of checking how much ram and fast the CPU of the host PC is. I tried WMI however the code I'm using private long getCPU() { ManagementClass mObject = new ManagementClass("Win32_Processor"); mObject.Get(); return (long)mObject.Properties["MaxClockSpeed"].Value; } Throws a null reference exception. Furthermore, WMI queries are a bit slow and I need to make a few to get all the specs. Is there a better way?
