  • Can’t start MySQL on Ubuntu 12.04 after restored from innobackupex

    - by RAH
I can’t start MySQL on Ubuntu 12.04 after restored backup from innobackupex. Before I tried to restore the db from backup I moved the datadir and got the same problem. With help from google I fixed the problem and got MySQL started. Ready to set up my new slave, I restored the backup via innobackupex –-copy-path /db/mysql, and now I can’t start MySQL. I am sure of the following: In my.cnf the datadir = /db/mysql The new datadir is chown mysql:mysql. The /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld contains: #/var/lib/mysql/ r, #/var/lib/mysql/** rwk, /db/mysql r, /db/mysql** rwk, AND /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w, /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w, /run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w, /run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w, /var/log/syslog gives me the following info: http://pastebin.com/1TQGsaBH What am I missing? Thanks.

  • Heroku Problem During Database Pull of Rails App: Mysql::Error MySQL server has gone away

    - by Rich Apodaca
    Attempting to pull my database from Heroku gives an error partway through the process (below). Using: Snow Leopard; heroku-1.8.2; taps-0.2.26; rails-2.3.5; mysql-5.1.42. Database is smallish, as you can see from the error message. Heroku tech support says it's a problem on my system, but offers nothing in the way of how to solve it. I've seen the issue reported before - for example here. How can I get around this problem? The error: $ heroku db:pull Auto-detected local database: mysql://[...]@localhost/[...]?encoding=utf8 Receiving schema Receiving data 17 tables, 9,609 records [...] /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:166:in `query': Mysql::Error MySQL server has gone away (Sequel::DatabaseError) from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:166:in `_execute' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:125:in `execute' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/connection_pool.rb:101:in `hold' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/database.rb:461:in `synchronize' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:125:in `execute' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/database.rb:296:in `execute_dui' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset.rb:276:in `execute_dui' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:365:in `execute_dui' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `import' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `each' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `import' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:144:in `transaction' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/connection_pool.rb:108:in `hold' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/database.rb:461:in `synchronize' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:138:in `transaction' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `import' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:211:in `cmd_receive_data' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:203:in `loop' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:203:in `cmd_receive_data' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:196:in `each' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:196:in `cmd_receive_data' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:175:in `cmd_receive' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:17:in `pull' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:119:in `taps_client' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:21:in `start' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:115:in `taps_client' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:16:in `pull' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/command.rb:45:in `send' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/command.rb:45:in `run_internal' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/command.rb:17:in `run' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/heroku:14 from /usr/bin/heroku:19:in `load' from /usr/bin/heroku:19

  • How do I install ant on OS X Mavericks?

    - by Robert Karl
After upgrading to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, ant is no longer on my path. • Permission denied when using mv in Windows 7 Cygwin

    - by Michael Butler
I have Cygwin installed on Windows 7 in a windows domain sign-on environment. I can run most typical commands without issue, but I cannot for the life of me use the "mv" command to move or rename files, regardless of the file or directory. I can copy and create files without issue. +-[12:27:57]-[mbutl2@MYHOSTNAME] +--> tmp $ >> pwd /tmp +-[12:27:58]-[mbutl2@MYHOSTNAME] +--> tmp $ >> touch test.txt +-[12:28:02]-[mbutl2@MYHOSTNAME] +--> tmp $ >> mv test.txt hello -bash: /usr/bin/mv: Permission denied I have already tried running Cygwin terminal as Administrator and the problem is the same. I'm open to workarounds, such as trying another exe for moving files and redirecting the mv command to it. Moving files works in the Windows Command Prompt.

  • Cannot connect to Xen domU via VNC if X isn't installed on domU

    - by Hai Minh Nguyen
I'm trying to build a Xen domU that can be connected through the Xen's VNC server. Below is the template (actually it's generated by OpenNebula): name = 'one-153' #O CPU_CREDITS = 256 memory = '128' bootloader = "/usr/bin/pygrub" disk = ['tap:aio:/home/oneadmin/cloud/one/var/153/images/disk.0,xvda,w',] vif = ['mac=02:00:c0:a8:00:03,bridge=virbr0',] vfb = ['type=vnc,vnclisten=slave1,vncdisplay=1,vncpasswd=v98KXdFN'] The problem is that I can't connect to the domU if it doesn't have X. In this case all I got is a blank screen. Besides, if the domU has X, the screen is still blank until the login prompt appears, while it should be like this. Some information that may be useful: The domU and the dom0 both run CentOS 5.5. If the domU has X, it can be connected even when both X and the domU's VNC server isn't running. The VNC client is RealVNC.

I tried to reinstall it. The re-installation was fine but I still get the messages when I yum update I didn't try to remove it with yum because it will remove more than 100 packages dues to dependencies. What else could I do ?

  • Stop a runaway launchd process on OS X Leopard

    - by Skylarking
I created a launchd .plist file to in order to have a python script run every hour. I ended up editing and later deleting the .plist file ( in /Library/LaunchDaemons )... but somehow launchd is still trying to run the script.. The file that the original .plist was calling is also no longer present ( it was in /usr/bin ).. Now every 10 seconds launchd is still attempting to run the script, fails, and respawns... I tried fixing this with Lingon.... to no avail.. Is there a way to kill this process for good? I tried logging out and restarting as well... Machine is running 10.5.8

  • Unable to run openoffice in headless mode

I want to automoate some PPT - PDF conversions, so I want to run openoffice in headless mode for scripting. On my machine with X running I can start opemoffice in headless mode via soffice -accept="socket,port=8100;urp;" -headless This doesn't seem to work on a server with X not running. $ soffice -accept="socket,port=8100;urp;" -headless /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin X11 error: Can't open display: Set DISPLAY environment variable, use -display option or check permissions of your X-Server (See "man X" resp. "man xhost" for details) $ The error doesnt seem to make sense as well, as the point of specifying -headless was so that I do not need X, while this command seems to look for X.

  • Binding Super+C Super+V to Copy and Paste

    - by solo
For some time I've been interested in binding the Windows Key (Super_L) on my keyboard to Copy and Paste for no other reason but convenience and consistency between my desktop and my MacBook. I thought that I was close after reading about xmodmap and executing the following: $ # re-map Super_L to Mode_switch, the 3rd col in keymap table `xmodmap -pke` $ xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = Mode_switch" $ # map Mode_switch+c to copy $ xmodmap -e "keycode 54 = c C XF86_Copy C" $ # map Mode_switch+v to paste $ xmodmap -e "keycode 55 = v V XF86_Paste V" Unfortunately, XF86Copy and XF86Paste don't seem to work, at all. They are listed in /usr/include/X11/XF86keysym.h and xev shows that the key sequence is being interpreted by X as XF86Paste and XF86Copy, do these symbols actually work? Do they have to have application level support?

  • straight to grub prompt on boot

    - by cheshirekow
    I am very lost. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 on a laptop. First reboot was fine. I ran all the recommended upgrades, and now every time I start I get just a grub>_ prompt. No error message, just the prompt, and a little banner at the top saying grub's version and telling me that I have minimal bash style editing. I've tried: 1) Re-installing grub via sudo grub-install sda (There is only one disk with only two partitions, one primary, and one for swap) 2) Changed GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=10 GRUB_TIMEOUT=30 GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="rootdelay=90" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rootdelay=90" in /etc/default/grub. No luck. I can boot with the following: grub> set root=(hd0,1) grub> probe (hd0,1) -u c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235605f756 grub> linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic root=UUID=c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235605f756 rootdelay=90 grub> initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-21-generic grub> boot And then everything seems to be fine from there. From the grub prompt if I try configfile /boot/grub/grub.cfg The screen clears and I get another grub prompt. So, seriously, what could the problem be? edit: Full text of /boot/grub/grub.cfg # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### if [ -s $prefix/grubenv ]; then load_env fi set default="0" if [ ${prev_saved_entry} ]; then set saved_entry=${prev_saved_entry} save_env saved_entry set prev_saved_entry= save_env prev_saved_entry set boot_once=true fi function savedefault { if [ -z ${boot_once} ]; then saved_entry=${chosen} save_env saved_entry fi } function recordfail { set recordfail=1 if [ -n ${have_grubenv} ]; then if [ -z ${boot_once} ]; then save_env recordfail; fi; fi } insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 if loadfont /usr/share/grub/unicode.pf2 ; then set gfxmode=640x480 insmod gfxterm insmod vbe if terminal_output gfxterm ; then true ; else # For backward compatibility with versions of terminal.mod that don't # understand terminal_output terminal gfxterm fi fi insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 set locale_dir=($root)/boot/grub/locale set lang=en insmod gettext if [ ${recordfail} = 1 ]; then set timeout=-1 else set timeout=30 fi ### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### set menu_color_normal=white/black set menu_color_highlight=black/light-gray ### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-21-generic' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { recordfail insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic root=UUID=c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 ro rootdelay=90 rootdelay=90 initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-21-generic } menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-21-generic (recovery mode)' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { recordfail insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 echo 'Loading Linux 2.6.32-21-generic ...' linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic root=UUID=c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 ro single rootdelay=90 echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...' initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-21-generic } ### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### menuentry "Memory test (memtest86+)" { insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 linux16 /boot/memtest86+.bin } menuentry "Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)" { insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c00fadde-f7e8-45e7-a4da-0235c605f756 linux16 /boot/memtest86+.bin console=ttyS0,115200n8 } ### END /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### if [ ${timeout} != -1 ]; then if sleep --verbose --interruptible 10 ; then set timeout=0 fi fi ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### # This file provides an easy way to add custom menu entries.   • getting bash to load my PATH over SSH

    - by Eli Bendersky
This problem comes up with me trying to make svnserve (Subversion server) available on a server through SSH. I compiled SVN and installed it in $HOME/bin. Local access to it (not through SSH) works fine. Connections to svn+ssh fail due to: bash: svnserve: command not found Debugging this, I've found that: ssh user@server "which svnserve" says: which: no svnserve in (/usr/bin:/bin) This is strange, because I've updated the path to $HOME/bin in my .bashrc, and also added it in ~/.ssh/environment. However, it seems like the SSH doesn't read it. Although when I run: ssh user@server "echo $PATH" It does print my updated path! What's going on here? How can I make SSH find my svnserve? Thanks in advance

  • Simple bash scripting

    - by Richard Cotton
I'm trying to get to grips with bash scripting via cygwin. My script is about as simple as it gets. I change the directory to the root of my C drive, and print the new location. #!/usr/bin/bash cd /cygdrive/c pwd is saved in the file chdir.sh in my home directory. I then call ./chdir.sh from the bash prompt. This results in the error : No such file or directorygdrive/c /cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings/rcotton I definitely have a C drive, and the command cd /cygdrive/c works when I call it directly from the bash prompt. I realise that this problem is likely stupidly simple; please can you tell me what I'm doing wrong.

  • php-cgi cpu usage is super high

    - by Ryan Thompson
I am getting constantly high and wildly fluctuating CPU usage % for php-cgi commands as seen via "top" on my Centos server.. I have a server density account and it seems that this is a common trend: User - PID - CPU % - MEM % - VSZ - RSS - TT - Stat - Started - Time - Command 500 - 6389 - 22.4 - 3 - 271136 - 32380 - ? - S - 20:26 - 0:40 - /usr/bin/php-cgi Seems there are about 6 or so of those records in my processes list at any given check-in. Any ideas what's causing this? I have fast_cgi installed and the module is loading.. Not sure why it isn't handling this though. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Ryan

  • Nginx + CodeIgniter + Invision power board rewrite rule probem.

    - by Ufuk
Hello, I have a setup where I have a folder structre like: / /application /system /forum index.php My ngix configuration: if (!-f $request_filename) { rewrite ^/(.*)$ /index.php/$1 last; } location ~ /index.php { fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; include /usr/local/nginx/conf/fastcgi_params; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/index.php; } This setup works correctly and redirects urls to correct controller of codeigniter yet it does also forward www.mydomain.com/forum to codeigniter, which eventually shows a 404 page of CodeIgniter. Does anyone know the correct configuration for my setups? Thank you.

  • Dovecot throws obsolete warnings, even though dovecot.conf updated on Ubuntu 11

    - by John Bowlinger
In trying to set up SASL for dovecot on Ubuntu 11, I keep getting obsolete warnings in my log: Sep 10 15:33:53 server1 dovecot: config: Warning: Obsolete setting in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf:24: passdb {} has been replaced by passdb { driver= } Sep 10 15:33:53 server1 dovecot: config: Warning: Obsolete setting in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf:27: userdb {} has been replaced by userdb { driver= } Even though my dovecot.conf file looks like this: protocols = none auth default { mechanisms = plain login passdb { driver=pam } userdb { driver=passwd } socket listen { client { path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode = 0660 user = postfix group = postfix } } } Even when I try: driver=etc/pam.d/dovecot driver=etc/passwd I still get the same error. Looking at the example config file: cat /usr/share/doc/dovecot-common/dovecot/example-config/dovecot.conf was of no help. Dovecot is running: ps -A | grep 'dovecot' 9663 ? 00:00:00 dovecot But I can't seem to get that elusive "dovecot-auth" process. Anyone know what's going on?

  • Trying to configure domain-based access via htaccess file.

    - by kenja
I've created an account with no-ip.com that registers my ip with a subdomain of their service. When I do an nslookup, I see that the service is working and that my domain is being shown. Now I want to provide access to that subdomain on the admin site of our server which is protected by htaccess IP restrictions. When I try to add the new domain to my script it does not work. Am I doing something wrong? I'm basically trying to make my laptop so it can log in from no matter when I'm at while still preventing all other IPs from accessing the site. ## password begin ## AuthName "Restricted Access" AuthUserFile /usr/www/users/site/.passwd AuthType Basic Require valid-user Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from 69.1.122.161 mysubdomain.no-ip.org Satisfy All

  • problem connecting to datasource defined in freetds.conf

    - by pkaeding
I can connect successfully to my database using tsql when I bypass the freetds.conf file, like so: % TDSVER=8.0 tsql -H 10.100.102.202 -p 1086 -U sa After I enter my password, I am presented with a 1> prompt, and it is ready for my commands. However, if I try to connect using the definition in my freetds.conf file, like this: % tsql -S Millie -U sa after entering my password, it seems to be trying to generate a prompt, but it just keeps counting. I will see 1, followed by 2, etc, without ever displaying a > character. Here is what I have for my freetds.conf: [global] # TDS protocol version tds version = 8.0 text size = 64512 [Millie] host = 10.100.102.202 port = 1086 What could be causing this anomaly? If it helps, here is the output of tsql -C: % tsql -C Compile-time settings (established with the "configure" script) Version: freetds v0.82 freetds.conf directory: /usr/local/etc MS db-lib source compatibility: no Sybase binary compatibility: no Thread safety: yes iconv library: yes TDS version: 5.0 iODBC: no unixodbc: no

  • Don't know why this small shell script wont work

    - by tominated
Hi, I'm trying to make a small script to start up gunicorn for a python website I'm making. I have modified the script found at https://github.com/benoitc/gunicorn/blob/master/examples/gunicorn_rc slightly. Here's my version. #!/bin/sh GUNICORN=/usr/local/bin/gunicorn ROOT=/srv/mobile-site/app PID=/var/run/gunicorn.pid APP=mobilecms:app if [ -f $PID ]; then rm $PID fi cd $ROOT exec $GUNICORN -b 127.0.0.1:8080 -w 8 -k gevent --pidfile=$PID $APP When I try to run the script though, it shows this error /etc/init.d/gunicorn: 13: Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting "fi") Does anyone know what's wrong?
