• is jQuery 1.4.2 compatible with Closure Compiler?

  According to the official release statement version 1.4 has been re-written to be compressed with Closure Compiler yet when I use the online version of closure compiler I get 130 warnings. This is the code I use. // ==ClosureCompiler== // @compilation_level ADVANCED_OPTIMIZATIONS // @output_file_name default.js // @code_url http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js // ==/ClosureCompiler== And as far as I know you get the real benefit of Closure Compiler if you include the library with your code also, so it removes the unused functions. Yet my testing show that I can't get any further than compressing the library itself.. What am I doing wrong? Any kind of insight will be much appreciated.

  Hello, I'm trying to write a Delphi program that will loop through each worksheet in an Excel file and format some cells. I'm receiving an error while trying to use the for-in loop over the Workbook.Worksheets collection, though. The error is specifically: [DCC Error] Office.pas(36): E2431 for-in statement cannot operate on collection type 'Sheets' because 'Sheets' does not contain a member for 'GetEnumerator', or it is inaccessible The line of code this occurs for is: for Worksheet in Workbook.Worksheets do The definition of Worksheet and Workbook is as follows: var ExcelApp: ExcelApplication; var Workbook: ExcelWorkbook; var Worksheet: ExcelWorksheet; I'm porting this code to Delphi from C#, in which it works.   Whlie reading codes of my group project, I come across many DEFINEs, and some of them seems strange. To generalize it, please look at the following 2 examples. Example 1: #define SNPRINTF(dst, fmt, arg...) snprintf(dst, sizeof(dst), fmt, ##arg) what does "##" means in this circumstance? I've tried to delete both of them, and write codes like "char buf[1024]; SNPRINTF(buf,"%s,%s","abcd","efg");" which produced the same result. So "##" seems no use and no harm to me. Example 2: #define CLOSE(fd) do { \ if (-1 != (fd)) { \ close(fd); \ (fd) = -1; \ } \ } while (0) Necessary to stuff the inner code to the do{}while(0) statement? what's the use? Thanks!

When I excute this in ruby, in result set the sent_date is stores as (Tue Apr 20 00:00:00 UTC 2010) messages = Message.find_by_sql(sql) puts messages[0]['sent_date'] puts statement prints "Tue Apr 20 00:00:00 UTC 2010" how to get same date format in mysql result and ruby result set. • Deep Null checking, is there a better way?

  We've all been there, we have some deep property like cake.frosting.berries.loader that we need to check if it's null so there's no exception. The way to do is is to use a short-circuiting if statement if (cake != null && cake.frosting != null && cake.frosting.berries != null) ... This strikes me however as not very elegant, there should perhaps be an easier way to check the entire chain and see if it comes up against a null variable/property. So is it possible using some extension method or would it be a language feature, or is it just a bad idea?

  Hi, I was expecting an compilation error in the following program because of the throw statement in the catch block as IOException is a checked exception and it is not caught by another try block within the catch block. But I am getting "Hurray!" printed. Any explanation would be much appreciated.   I have the following functions for colorizing my screen messages: def error(string): return '\033[31;1m' + string + '\033[0m' def standout(string): return '\033[34;1m' + string + '\033[0m' I use them as follows: print error('There was a problem with the program') print "This is normal " + standout("and this stands out") I want to log the output to a file (in addition to STDOUT) WITHOUT the ANSI color codes, hopefully without having to add a second "logging" line to each print statement. The reason is that if you simply python program.py > out then the file out will have the ANSI color codes, which look terrible if you open in a plain text editor. Any advice?

  Hello, If there an easy way to get a completed SQL statement back after parameter substitution? I.e., I want to keep a logfile of all the SQL this program runs. Or if I want to do this, will I just want to get rid of Parameters, and do the whole query the old school way, in one big string? • Determing Python version at runtime

  The problem I'm having is that I've written code that depends on features in python2.6 so I'm trying to build a check that will produce a useful error if someone tries to run it on a machine with python lower than 2.6. The code I put in to check for the specific version and match it should work fine but the problem I have is the interpreter on a 2.4 machine reads the file and sees a "finally" at the end of my try loop and errors out before it gets far enough into execution for my if statement to handle the version mismatch. Other than changing the magic line to specifically look for /usr/bin/python2.6 is there a way python can handle this sort of thing?

  I have a WCF service that supports about 10 contracts, we have been supporting a client with all the business rules specific to this client now we have another client who will be using the exact same contracts (so we cannot change that) they will be calling the service exactly the same way the previous client called now the only way we can differentiate between the two clients is by one of the input parameters. Based on this input parameter we have to use a slightly different business logic – the logic for both the Client will be same 50% of the time the remainder will have different logic (across Business / DAL layers) . I don’t want to use if else statement in each of contract implementation to differentiate and reroute the logic also what if another client comes in. Is there a clean way of handling a situation like this. I am using framework 3.5. Like I said I cannot change any of the contracts (service / data contract ) or the current service calling infrastructure for the new client. Thanks

  I have the following code: <?php if ($x == 1){ ?> <b>Some html...</b> <?php } else if ($x==2){ ?> <b> Other html...</b> <?php } ?> Now I would like to have two links below (a href) and somehow pass the variable $x (so Link1 passes x=1 and Link2 passes x=2) in order to load the relevant bit of code from if statement. I know I can pass $x using form and then test its value and load required bit of code, but I would like to do it smoothly, without reloading the page. I think that JQuery could help it, but I have no idea how to do it. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

  I'm tumbled with a problem! I've set up my first check constraint using MySQL, but unfortunately I'm having a problem. When inserting a row that should fail the test, the row is inserted anyway. The structure: CREATE TABLE user ( id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, uname VARCHAR(10) NOT NULL, fname VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, lname VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, mail VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id), CHECK (LENGTH(fname) > 30) ); The insert statement: INSERT INTO user VALUES (null, 'user', 'Fname', 'Lname', '[email protected]'); The length of the string in the fname column should be too short, but it's inserted anyway. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something basic here.

I added a simple .htaccess with this simple code (I know this would require more code in .htaccess but it's just a test). RewriteEngine on RewriteRule .* index.php [NC,L] When I try : http://127.0.0.1:8888/website/folder/fileDoesntExistMustGoIndex I have an "Object not found 404" error and the access.log display: 127.0.0.1 - - [13/Mar/2010:13:48:31 -0500] "GET /website/folder/fileDoesntExistMustGoIndexHTTP/1.1" 404 1118 I have check the httpd.conf and I see nothing that could alter this .htaccess statement. Any idea?

  Hi All! Say I have a stored procedure consisting of several seperate SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements. There is no explicit BEGIN TRANS / COMMIT TRANS / ROLLBACK TRANS logic. How will SQL Server handle this stored procedure transaction-wise? Will there be an implicit connection for each statement? Or will there be one transaction for the stored procedure? Also, how could I have found this out on my own using T-SQL and / or SQL Server Management Studio? Thanks!

• Sort and Group in LINQ

  I apologise in advance if this has been answered before; it seems so fundamental to me yet I haven't turned up the answer in any of my searches. I have a list of string tuples, say (P1,P2) I'd like to know if there's a LINQ statement where I could group by P1 (in ascending order), and have that group contain all the P2 values for the group (in descending order). For input: ("A","B"), ("A","C"), ("D","B") I'd like to get two groups: "A" and "D" (in that order, every time) where group "A" contains "C" and "B" (in that order, every time) and group "D" contains, well, "B". Is this possible with the built-in LINQ classes or do I need to iterate the groups and sort them myself? Sounds like hard work~

• Core dump utility for .NET

  In my past life as a COBOL mainframe developer I made extensive use of a tool called Abendaid which, in the event of an exception, would give me a complete memory dump including a formatted list of every variable in memory as well as a complete stack trace of the program with the offending statement highlighted. This made pinpointing the cause of an error much simpler and saved a lot of step-through debugging and/or trace statements. Now I've made the transition to C# and .NET web development I find that the information provided by ASP.NET only tells half the story, giving me a stack trace, but not any of the variable or class information. This makes debugging more difficult as you then have to run the process again with the debugger to try and reproduce the error, not easy with intermittent errors or with assemblies that run under the likes of SQL Server or CRM. I've looked around quite a lot for something that does this but I can't find anything obvious. Does anyone have any idea if there is one, or if not, what I'd need to start with in order to write one?

  Dear Guys, I have used the following statement to get the GNUPlot plot a grah for me: plot "force.dat" using 1:2 title "Detroit" with lines, \ "force.dat" u 1:3 t "US Avergae" w linepoints and the "force.dat" looks like 2005 0 0 2006 104 51 2007 202 101 It draws nice graph for me. However, I don't like the X-axis, because it is labelled as 2005, 2005.5, 2006, 2006.5, 2007 etc.. However, those are year identifiers, I only want the 2005, 2006, 2007 etc., how could I get rid of the 2005.5, 2006.5 etc. labels in my GNUPlot graph? Thank you very much for your ideas.

  It is said, javascript clears a variable from memory after its being referenced last. just for the sake of this question i created a JS file with only one variable; //file start //variable defined var a=["Hello"] //refenence to that variable alert(a[0]); // //file end no further reference to that variable, so i expect javascript to clear varaible 'a' Now i just ran this page and then opened firebug and ran this code alert(a[0]); Now this alerts the value of variable, If the statement "Javascript clears a variable after there is no further reference it" is true how come alert() shows its value. Is it because all variable defined in global context become properties of window object, and since even after the execution file window objects exist so does it properties.

The inferred type ArrayList is not a valid substitute for the bounded parameter It seems the type of the second generic List parameter is limited by the Type of the first.Is it a feature or a bug of the compile program? ps, jdk:1.6,IDE:Eclipse 3.5.1
