  • FB.logout not working in IE8

    I've integrated facebook login with my application and I want to logout the user from facebook when he logs out of my application. So I did the following: <a href="<c:url value='/security_logout'/>" onclick="FB.logout();">Logout</a> This works on Firefox and Chrome but doesn't work on IE8. In IE8 the user is logged out of the application but is not logged out of Facebook. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • PHP header redirection does not reload <iframe> in IE

    When displaying data from DB usually I'm in this situation I'm in page A.php that shows data from DB, user performs some action (like edit/delete etc) and page B.php is loaded to perform the action, once page B performed the action, it redirects browser to page A, page A is auto reloaded during step (3) therefor it shows an updated situation of the data In order to make page B to redirect to page A i use a simple PHP header("Location: " . "A.php", TRUE, 302); This works well in all situations, except when pages A.php is displaied into an <iframe>: in such a case it does not reload (step 4 does not get done). This seems to happen only in IE7 (don't know about IE8), it works perfectly on FF/Safari. And only when using an <iframe>, if page A.php is not in <iframe> it gest refreshed also in IE7. In order to solve this I simply added a couple of headers in page A.php to set it to not be cached: header("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate"); // HTTP/1.1 header("Expires: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT"); // Date in the past But I was curious if you might have experienced the same issue too in the past, and if you good give me some advice about this?

    Hi Guys, I have a site on A.com and an iframe on B.com which calls javascript from A.com. This works great in FF. In IE7 / 8 I am getting a Message: Access is denied. message. I have checked the HTTP Traffic via Fiddler - and I can see that it isn't blocked in Fiddler ? Any ideas what could be causing this and how to solve ?

    Windows XP and IE8. Tabbed Browsing is OFF. So every single web page has its own title. I want to see in the title the same as I see in the Status bar i.e. I want the full URL of the web page I am viewing to be displayed in the Title bar, and so in the Task bar button too. How to achieve this? Thanks for all the answers in advance. Looks like this is rare case.

  • Font-face, Raphael and IE8

    I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael).     When i use this code <!--[if IE 6]> <link rel="stylesheet" href="ie6.css" type="text/css" /> <![endif]--> <!--[if !IE]> <link rel="stylesheet" href="not_ie.css" type="text/css" /> <![endif]--> IE 6 does correctly use the specified stylesheet but all other browsers ignore both when they should be using the one that basically states, use this stylesheet if you are not IE. Any ideas?

  • Local sites not displaying in VirtualBox when using Django's local development server?

    Hello. I develop web applications using Django on Mac OSX 10.6. I use Django's built in local development server which I run on my computer's IP (such as: http://192.168.0.11:8001/). I test my applications in Firefox, Safari and Chrome and all display fine. I use Sun's VirtualBox with 3 different instances of Windows XP that have IE6, IE7 and IE8 on them. For whatever reason, these sometimes just don't display the Django sites. They come up with 'The page cannot be displayed'. Eight times out of ten, they display fine and function normally but for no reason at all they won't display. Sometimes restarting Django's local development server from the Terminal will fix the problem, sometimes it won't. Is there some sort of VirtualBox settings or Django settings that I need to set to ensure smooth operation of this? Am I overlooking something? Has anyone else had these problems?

    I am working on my Office PC I dont have, I dont not have Admin rights to download IE8 in my PC..currently I am working in asp.net mvc application with IE6 Browser..some of the things are not working in IE6 for my application, can any body explain me what is the Differnce between IE6 and IE8 for web application, is there any chance that if the web pages are not showing correctly in IE6 it wil show in IE8? Ex: I used Microsoft Charting Controls to dispaly Pie chart for my applciation. the pie chart displaying in Firefox but not in IE6 Ex: some of the checkbox check events not working in IE6 but its working with Firefox. what is the good way to test wihout instaling IE8 on my PC? is there any tools are there? any documents to refer these stuff..? thanks

  • Returning HTML in the JS portion of a respond_to block throws errors in IE

    Here's a common pattern in my controller actions: respond_to do |format| format.html {} format.js { render :layout => false } end I.e., if the request is non-AJAX, I'll send the HTML content in a layout on a brand new page. If the request is AJAX, I'll send down the same content, but without a layout (so that it can be inserted into the existing page or put into a lightbox or whatever). So I'm always returning HTML in the format.js portion, yet Rails sets the Content-Type response header to text/javascript. This causes IE to throw this fun little error message: Of course I could set the content-type of the response every time I did this (or use an after_filter or whatever), but it seems like I'm trying to do something relatively standard and I don't want to add additional boilerplate code. How do I fix this problem? Alternatively, if the only way to fix the problem is to change the content-type of the response, what's the best way to achieve the behavior I want (i.e., sending down content with layout for non-AJAX and the same content without a layout for AJAX) without having to deal with these errors? In firefox/chrome it returns 1 wich is the expected value. Does anyone know if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong?

    I understand there isn't a way to interrogate a users IE settings directly due to security reasons, but is there a way to derive this answer with some other mechanism? I would like to stop a user from using my site if the setting "Check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Never". Any suggestions? Is there a way I could test for this using javascript? An example of what I am trying to accomplish is this: While it is not possible to check IE settings to see if you are running a popup blocker, that is a way to "test" for a popup blocker via javascript. I am looking for something similiar but for the cache setting, not the popup blocker.

  • Is there a way to avoid IE7 quirks mode while rendering XML + CSS?

    I've got some DocBook documentation styled with a CSS xml-stylesheet declaration. It looks great in Firefox, but IE7 doesn't seem to understand the CSS child selectors (e.g. section > title { ... }). I think this is because IE is running in quirks mode to render this XML, and older versions of IE didn't support that CSS syntax at all. The pages I found on the web all seem to focus on HTML and XHTML doctypes and how IE will behave given various permutations of these values. I couldn't find any information about straight XML + CSS. Worse yet, it seems that random XML documents always end up in quirks mode, no matter what format or stylesheet directives they have. Is XML rendering in IE doomed to be IE5.5 compatible? Will I really have to rewrite my CSS?

  • I have a BHO in c++ and i need to block some keyboard controls (Ctrl-o) in a i-frame.

    I need to know of a way to prevent the user to 'open a new url' (with Ctrl-o) as soon as he has the focus on my sidebar (right-sided iframe). In fact, my sidebar offers some controls and the user should not be able to 'navigate' to other website through the sidebar. I'm using a bho in C++ using ATL(active template library), but maybe if anyone knows of a simplier way like in JS(javascript) or PHP(Hypertext Preprocessor) ? Any ideas is appreciated.   • [IE 7/8] Loading HTML content in via Javascript nulls my <title> tag in some instances

    This is an Explorer only problem and the symptoms are: I have links that when clicked will load in HTML chunks (none of which contain html header tags) using javascript. The html chunks are placed in various <div>s around the page, perhaps 3 different places with 3 different chunks brought in via javascript. When these chunks load in the <title> tag of the page gets set to <title></title> for some unknown (to me) reason. I've used the IE developer toolbar to confirm this by inspecting the DOM tree. I have other pages that do similar things but it does not seem to be a problem there.

    This is a tall order, but is there a jQuery or Mootools (or other framework) plugin to wrap text around images and support IE6? I've tried the jQSlickWrap, but unless the browser supports HTML 5, you're out of luck. What's strange is that IE 6 supports the jQuery Background Canvas plugin, which uses the CANVAS object (via excanvas.js) just as this plugin does. Thanks.

  • HTTP Handler error when downloading files - SSL

    Ok big problem as this is affecting two projects on our new server. We have a file that is downloaded by users, the files are downloaded using a HTTPHandler. Since moving the site to the server and setting SSL the downloads have stopped working and we get an error message "Unable to download DownloadDocument.ashx" from site". DownloadDocument.ashx is the handler page that is set in the web.config and the button that goes there is a hyperlink with the id of the document as a querystring. Ive read the article on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316431 and read a few other requests on this site but nothing seems to be working.
